Babs has to leave the clocktower for a Birds of Prey emergency and Cass is the only one around so she has to man the comms because Steph is on a mission. Cass is like yeah sure this will be fine Steph and I work great together nowadays.
But it turns out she's the absolute worst kind of backseat driver. She leads Steph on routes that involve 20 foot wide jumps and boos when Steph says she can't make that leap without a grapple. Steph is fighting five assassins at once and Cass is in her ear like
Cass: He has a bad leg go for the leg. Go for the leg. Why aren't you going for the leg just break out of the hold.
Cass: Wait are you stuck. Why are you stuck just dislocate your wrist and you'll be out of that hold. Batgirl can you hear me just snap your wrist. One two three snap.
Cass: Why are you not snapping. Hitting him isn't working. You're not strong enough to break his hold.
Cass: Maybe I should just come and get you. You're not listening to my words. I'll just rescue you.
Cass: Was that fuck off directed at me or the assassins.
Cass: Good you broke his hold. Now go for the leg. THE LEG. WHY ARE YOU RUNNING AWAY YOU CAN TAKE THEM.
Steph once Barbara gets back: Don't ever leave me again. If I ever hear her on your line again I will rip out my earpiece.
Cass once Barbara quizzes her about the incident: I gave super clear instructions. Maybe she was just sick today idk
this is hands down my favourite Cass quote and imo people at times take it too literally. "i don't kill but i don't lose" doesn't mean she is physically incapable of losing a fight or she's Just That Skilled it means if Cass really wants to win she will do whatever it takes short of killing to come out on top. she will fight till her legs give out till her body breaks down till the bitter end and then she will get up and keep fighting. "i don't kill but i don't lose" isn't a mere statement of fact, it encapsulates the powerful "do or die" mentality she brings to every single fight. fight like you're dying. fight to win. do anything but kill.
I eventually want to write a whole post or two talking about the differences and similarities of Ollie and Mia and Bruce and Cass because both are fascinating in how they basically get their adopted daughters only a few years apart and how they view and treat them. But one of the most intriguing differences is in how Ollie and Bruce treat the idea of their daughters killing
Bruce is sent footage showing Cassandra's first and only kill at the age of 8 and he immediately believes it to be fake because he can't imagine Cass ever being able to take a life since she understands her mission and his no killing rule to her very core. So even the idea of Cassandra being able to kill is something he doesn't believe and refuses to even think about.
Ollie meanwhile sees Mia kill a man on her first night out before even becoming Speedy because the city needed all the help it could get at the time and the man who was accidentally responsible begged Ollie to kill him to prevent more damage and Mia out of fear and believing his threats of more pain and loss shoots an arrow killing him. And while Ollie is shocked he doesn't blame Mia. He understands she thought she was doing the right thing and is clearly already kicking herself enough as is so he just comforts her and never blames Mia for his death. In fact he blames himself for letting her out with him in the first place.
It's just one of the many interesting parallels you can draw between these two father-daughter duos
The first and last time I went to Red Hood's subreddit I saw a comment complaining that everyone is convinced Cass can beat Jason in a fight and their argument was 'jason can shoot her, what would she do after that'...like jason would even get a chance to pull out a gun on cassðŸ˜ðŸ˜ also cass has been shot at since like the age of three. just take the l and move on.
Steph: You ever think about how Cass could be in this very room watching us at any moment and we would never know? Tim: Well I'm thinking about it now. Thanks. Damian: I would know. Cass: No you wouldn't.
Bruce; Duke and Cass are my angel children. They tell me everything.
Batkids; glaring.
Cass who never told B she’s died twice and fr has done some of the most insane shit; smiles innocently.
Duke who blew up a warehouse last night and replaced Jason’s grappling gun with a slinky; Thanks B!
Steph: batman doesn't like me and thinks i am not enough.
Cass: it's okay i like you you're enough.
Tai'darshan: my government deems my organization to be terrorists. I am painted as the villain in my fight for freedom.
Cass: you're a beautiful mirror tell me more.
Brenda: i see the non-conventional life you're leading because i've been there. We may not look or live perfect but there's always time for tea amidst of chaos.
Cass: thanks.
Clayface: nobody believes in my rehabilitation and i am bound by this monstrous shapeless flesh.
Cass: you look friend shaped to me.
Barda: you're a little weird i like you
Cass: you're a little weird i like you :]
I want Bruce and Oliver to be so petty. Like when Lex does an evil scheme they make remarks that only he will know are about him and hang out and if he tries to crash it they post stories abt their boarding school days. Cause it will help with their secret identities but Lex will just be embarrassed af and his stocks will go down while the others go up.
"I was born a wound"
This line holds such a wealth of meaning. Because it is both - Cass was born to be hurt. Born to be abused and mishandled and made into something that would tear herself open, tear others open. Cain didn't know it, maybe Shiva didn't know it, but they made a child to give her pain.
And. Cain stole something from Shiva, took from her in a singular moment of weakness, and that memory cannot help but haunt her still. Cass is the moment, given legs and arms and a soul, Cass is that pain walking upright, haunting her all over again. The moment Cass was born, Sandra could never be hurt again, not truly, until all these years later where she has one wound she can never guard. Cassandra the thief, the assassin, the murderer, to take first from her mother before she'd take anything else at all.
Cassandra the innocent. Because she would not be a wound if she could not bleed.

Sick Cass who only agrees to stay in bc she gets to man comms
Bruce: *fighting*
Cass with the sorest throat: I wouldn't have done that
It's her favourite sick activity. Just reviewing his fights in real time and going "You missed an opening. Too slow. He's going to attack you get ready. Wow your reaction time has gotten worse. Move or you'll get stabbed. Oh the kids are safe by the way they ran away while you were failing to win against this scrub."
Bruce, through gritted teeth while seething with rage: This is good. This is important. I need to know my weaknesses so I can squash them.
Cass: Took you two minutes. I would have done it in ten seconds with that leg sweep you missed the chance to do.
Bruce: Thank you Batgirl.
Cass: I think your joint pain is slowing you down. Can you bend your knees properly or do they crack with age?
Bruce:... I think I need radio silence to concentrate for a minute.
Cass: Brain is slowing down too if you can't multitask anymore. Sad.
Bruce: You know what let's see if there's anyone else for me to punch. I need that right now.
