What do you think narrator would do if he actually interacted with Visibly Queer people? Like a drag queen or something.

Visibility is an interesting question. I mean, I don't think he'd feel the same seeing a butch lesbian as he would a feminine gay man, or a guy in drag. I mean, most gay guys often just sort of don't notice lesbians, so I'd imagine he's the same. It's not like his office job would lend to many opportunities to see one roaming around. And now this may be Controversial but the narrator is a judgemental little fuck and I don't think he'd like drag actually. I think it'd hit his hate boner for performances and gauche consumption (regardless of blah blah blah).

Otoh if he walked by a gay bar and saw some dudes lined up fit to cruise I think he would be so infinitely sad and desperate and jealous it'd be off the charts. He wants the freedom to court male attention confidently and without shame and to see some guy doing that would make him such a jealous little worm. I don't think he'd be honest with himself at all about it so he'd just be insomnia staring at them and feeling bowel clenching rage for no particular reason as far as he's concerned.
