Some of you may already be aware of this, but I figured I should make a proper and official announcement:

White Bear Red Rose will soon be removed from AO3 to be self-published.

I have wanted to publish a book since I was a little girl and this is the first time in my life that I ever felt so utterly gripped by a story that it feels like it might burst out of me if I don't write it down. I have never been able to get past chapter three of any novel I've tried to write in the past. Twenty-eight chapters of WBRR later - I knew I had something special on my hands.

And I knew I owed it to that little girl dreaming of being an author to get it out into the world.

I can't thank the readers who have stuck this far with WBRR enough - you guys have been such an inspiration for me to keep writing, knowing that there was even just one person out there who was interested in this "what if" story of mine. I'm truly sorry that WBRR will no longer be freely availble for you to read, but I do hope you will keep your eyes peeled for it if you're interesed in purchasing an ebook or paperback version of it in the future - I'm aiming for a summer 2025 release! I will post updates on my WordPress blog and public socials if you'd like to follow along.

That being said, I didn't want to blindsight you guys, so WBRR will remain up on AO3 until 31 October 2024, after which it will be removed. If you do download it to keep, please be mindful that the published version will be edited from its form on AO3 and of course please do not repost this story anywhere else. The AO3 version is yours to enjoy, but strictly for private use only. As for things I've posted on Tumblr, there will be some content removed from here as well, depending on how much of a "spoiler" they are.

And yes, I do intend on continuing the story with Book Two (Mary's Reign) and Book Three (Elizabeth's Reign), but, naturally, these will be directly published rather than going on AO3 first.

On this day, 12 June 2009, cleaning workers at the School of Oriental and African Studies in London working for the subcontractor ISS were called to an emergency “staff meeting,” which was actually an ambush by immigration officers. The cleaners, mostly members of public sector union UNISON, had been organising for some time for better pay and conditions, and had recently successfully achieved union recognition and the London living wage. At the bogus meeting, 40 UK Border Agency officials detained the workers, then handcuffed and took away nine of them, including one worker who was six months pregnant. Workers believe the raid was in retaliation for their organising activity. Some of the workers, like Rosa Perez from Nicaragua, were deported without even being given the required 72 hours notice. One union member was flown to Colombia just 48 hours after her arrest, in the same clothes, with just £0.75 in her pocket and dumped in Bogotá, hundreds of miles from her home town. Another of the workers reportedly suffered a heart attack during the ordeal and was denied medical attention – and not even given water. Despite the deportations, the other workers kept up their fight and after various strikes and occupations by students, in 2017 they achieved their goal of being taken back in-house to be employed directly by the university. I’ve already posted a few of these designs, but just for simplicity’s sake: HERE ARE ALL OF THE REDESIGNS for Golden Bat: Reimagined!

You might notice an extra character you don’t recognize: Priestess Amelia is a cult leader character created by @babblingbrookebutler for the sake of fleshing out the story some, and, well…

…she kinda ties directly into Mr. Dark Bat up there.  If he looks like Golden Bat, gone Berserk Mode… good.

And yes, even Penny got a redesign.  *mutters something about Penny only showing up in 2 episodes and is really just a minor character at best*

Hello there! A long time ago on Twitter, I saw a post from you involving potential stories you'd like to do in the future, one of them involving Davy Jones as a bounty hunter. Out of curiosity, does your Davy look anything like the one from the Pirates of the Caribbean films?

Dave Jones! He wasn't a bounty hunter, but he was a ghost (and demons maybe) hunter! I'm honestly not sure if I wanna go forward with making his story into a comic. He MIGHT do better in the form of a video game tbh!

Which is EXTREMELY ambitious to make, yeah, but I gotta go with my gut feeling on this one.

I don't think he looks too much like Davy Jones from POTC? Like, he's got the face tentacles but I'd say that's the only real similarity.
