Hostages tortured to death. Parents executed in front of their children. Doctors beaten. Babies murdered. Sexual assault weaponised. No, not Hamas crimes. This is part of an ever-growing list of documented atrocities committed by Israel in the five months since 7 October – quite separate from the carpet bombing of 2.3 million Palestinians in Gaza and a famine induced by Israel’s obstruction of aid. And yet while the western establishment media has been chock full of the most lurid allegations of savagery directed against Hamas, sometimes with little or no supporting evidence, Israeli atrocities are excused or quickly forgotten. Accusations against Hamas are endlessly reheated to paint a picture of a supremely dangerous and bestial militant group, in turn rationalising the slaughter and starvation of Gaza’s population to “eradicate” it as a terrorist organisation. But equally barbarous atrocities committed by Israel – not in the heat of battle, but in cold blood – are treated as unfortunate, isolated incidents that cannot be connected, that paint no picture, that reveal nothing of import about the military that carried them out. If Hamas’ crimes were so savage and sadistic they still need to be reported months after they took place, why does the establishment media never feel the need to express equal horror and indignation at equivalent or worse acts of cruelty and sadism being inflicted by Israel on Gaza – not five months ago, but right now? Israel's torture of doctors, its sexual assaults of Palestinian women, it's leaving premature babies to die after its forces stormed a hospital. Where is the outrage? This is part of a pattern of behaviour by the western media that leads to only one possible deduction: Israel’s five-month-long attack on Gaza is not being reported. Rather, it is being selectively narrated – and for the most obscene of purposes. Through consistent and glaring failures in their coverage, establishment media – including supposedly liberal outlets, from the BBC and CNN to the Guardian and New York Times – have smoothed the way for Israel to carry out mass slaughter in Gaza, what the World Court has assessed as plausibly a genocide. The role of the media has not been to keep us, their audiences, informed about one of the greatest crimes in living memory. It has been to buy time for US President Joe Biden to keep arming his most useful of client states in the oil-rich Middle East, and to do so without damaging his prospects for re-election in November’s US presidential vote. If Russian President Vladimir Putin was a madman and a barbarous war criminal for invading Ukraine, as every western media outlet agrees, what does that make Israeli officials, when every one of them supports far worse atrocities in Gaza, directed overwhelmingly at civilians? And more to the point, what does that make Biden and the US political class for materially backing Israel to the hilt: sending bombs, vetoing demands for a ceasefire at the United Nations, and freezing desperately needed aid? Worrying about the optics, the president expresses his discomfort, but he carries on helping Israel regardless. While western politicians and commentators worry about some imaginary existential threat those brief events of five months ago pose to the nuclear-armed state of Israel, Israel is quite literally wiping Gaza off the map day by day, quite undisturbed.

mizu had been away in london for two and a half years. with the help of abijah fowler, she’d located the other two men she spent so much time looking for. the last two men that could have potentially put her on this godforsaken earth.
she killed all three of them in one fell swoop.
as she stood on the boat taking her home, she couldn’t help but think about what awaited her. how was everyone doing? did akemi and taigen ever work it out? where was ringo? how was swordfather holding up? how was yui?
as yui came to mind, mizu felt her stomach drop slowly but surely.
yui.
mizu’s closest friend. her longest friend. the reason mizu spent so many nights of this four year journey restless. yui plagued the woman’s mind like death.
the two met shortly after mizu began living with master eiji. yui would periodically bring fresh fruits and vegetables for the old man to have. yui, only seven at the time, was so fascinated by the kid, she couldn’t help but want to be around all the time.
now, she was twenty-six. mizu left right after yui turned twenty-two, being twenty-one herself. compared to the fifteen years they’d known each other beforehand, four years wasn’t long, and they saw each other briefly just before mizu’s impromptu trip to find the white men. to be apart from someone you’d grown up with, though, someone who’d been like an extension of you, was like missing a part of you.
if nothing else, i hope she’s happy… wherever she is.
the journey was long, but after five and a half months at sea and three weeks of land travel, mizu stood in front of the small hut she grew up in.
dressed in her very old kimono and very tattered pants, her hair tied back in her typical ponytail, mizu felt stuck in place.
what if no one’s home?
what if they turn me away?
what if something happened to them?
it wasn’t the first time she had these thoughts, but it was the first time they hit her this fierce.
with bated breath and a hand on the blade at her waist, mizu stepped forward and walked inside.
the first thing she noticed was the lack of fire, swordfather nowhere in sight. her heart beat roughly against her chest at the thought of where he could be, but the shallow breathing quickly pushed that thought aside.
wait, what?
as she turned, ignoring the whiplash, mizu spotted a shorter figure tucked away in the corner. the lighting was bad, but if she squinted, she could make out the wide eyes of the woman who’d unknowingly stolen her heart.
she didn’t look much different. same pretty eyes, same pretty nose, same pretty lips…
…accompanied by some swelling, bruising, and a small cut.
wait. what?
“mizu? is that you?” yui’s voice was so small, you almost couldn’t hear it.
“what happened to you?” mizu responded, taking long strides to wrap her friend in her arms, almost shielding her from the world.
“you… you’re here? i’m not dreaming?” yui’s hands shook as they came to mizu’s face, one holding a damp cloth. the samurai took that very hand in her own.
“i’m here, yui. tell me what happened. who hurt you?” her voice was soft, and yet the malice was clear as day.
“i- i can’t believe you’re here. i prayed everyday for you to come back to me. you look so tired and- and thin,” as yui rambled, tears welled in her eyes. there was so much concern in her voice, and mizu wanted to draw blood.
you beautiful angel. you’re hurt and worrying about me.
“yui, look at me. who hurt you?”
the blubbering woman blinked a few times. mizu grabbed her flushed cheeks to keep eye contact.
“i- you don’t need to worry about me, mizu. are you hungry? let me get you some food,” yui tried to pulled away.
“yui.”
she stopped walking. with a drop of her head and a trembling sigh, yui turned back around.
“… my parents married me off a year ago-“
“what’s his name?”
“mizu, this is why i didn’t want to tell you! you don’t need to do anything, i’m fine!”
the samurai, in the middle of storming out, stopped herself.
when did i become this… protective?
she didn’t get to think on it too much before yui grabbed her from behind, pulling mizu’s back to her front.
“he only hit me a few times. a few days ago he got really drunk and he was upset about something and he just… we ran into taigen in kohama the day after. taigen told him to stay away from me and then brought me here. mizu, i promise i’m okay. don’t leave me… not again.”
as the sun came down, two sat huddled by the fire. swordfather, ringo, and even taigen surprisingly welcomed her home with open arms.
"ya know, master, taigen really gave yui a run for her money missing you."
"what the hell are you talking about, ringo? i did not miss him. i only spent so much time here because there needed to be a man to take care of the house with this idiot was getting his blood revenge or whatever. we seriously thought you were dead."
"i'm sorry for worrying you all. and thank you, taigen, for taking care of yui and swordfather."
taigen didn't have a retort for that, and it was silent save for master eiji's "hmmm."
as the hours ticked away, it got quieter, taigen and ringo leaving for their own homes and master eiji retiring for the night.
mizu and yui were still sat together by the small fire.
i'm gonna do it. she deserves to know.
"yui, I..." she started.
"yes?" the aforementioned woman looked up to mizu, eyes wide with innocence and happiness.
"uhm...i-"
"i’m so in love you, mizu. did you know that?"
wait... what?
"i- i'm not a... man," mizu had to force it out. she expected the joy in yui's face to dissipate, but the eyes staring at her didn't flash with any anger, distrust, or confusion.
"i know that, mizu," yui's lips curved in a small smile. mizu stood in shock.
"wait, but how? did you see me naked? you can't be in love with me, yui. i lied to you. for years."
yui giggled at her before grimacing softly.
"i guess that means the feeling isn't mutual then, huh?" her tone was light, but the hurt was written all over her face.
"no, mizu started, cradling the soft skin of yui's face, "no, no, no, yui. i love you more than anything in this world. i live and breathe for you."
"then how can you sit here and tell me that i can't love you and then turn around and tell me you love me?"
mizu sighed. she's never been good at this whole being in love thing.
"it's just... i've been in love before and it didn't turn out all that great. i just don't understand how you could... when did you... have you always liked women?"
now it was yui's turn to sigh, "why do you think i fought with my parents so much when we were teenagers? 'yui, you must stop with this foolishness, you will marry a man and bare me grandchildren!' 'but mama, i don't like boys! i like-" she cut herself off with a loud slap to the back of her hand. despite the seriousness of what she just told mizu, that smile was back on yui's face.
"what... what do we do now?" mizu had an inkling of a feeling as to what, but she still wanted to be sure.
"well," yui sounded cheeky, "it'd be really nice if you would kiss me."
and with a bright red face, mizu did just that.
after kissing for several minutes (not nearly long enough if you asked mizu), the two prepared to sleep. mizu snuck her futon out of the room she shared with master eiji and yui layered a couple of old blankets on top. as the pair laid together, mizu couldn't think of anything other than how happy she felt in that moment. and then she had a thought.
"you didn't tell me how you knew i wasn't a man, yui." as she snuggled closer to mizu, yui chuckled lightly.
"oh, my love, i've always known."
"yes, but ho-"
she was silenced with a kiss.
“sleep, mizu.”

not gonna lie, enemies to lovers is so easy when it comes to kacchan.
akina hayashi. grey eyes. bright purple hair. has a quirk similar to tomura shigaraki’s. anything she touches disintegrates, but she has the ability to reverse it as long as she doesn’t wait too long.
she had to learn that the hard way.
shortly after her quirk manifested, her parents got a divorce (the whole thing was so nasty), and as an only child, it became just her and her mom.
katsuki’s been akina’s next door neighbor since the womb. under normal circumstances, this would lead the two to become friends.
the problem lies with izuku being akina’s best friend.
she was so protective of him that she begged her mom to put her in a judo class.
“i wanna be able to protect my friend, mama!”
it was the most passionate she’d been about anything since her dad left.
akina was walking izuku home from school when they encountered the sludge monster. she did her best to hold him off, all might showing up just in time.
she couldn’t move fast enough to stop her friend from latching onto the hero as he took off. with a sigh, she continued her walk to the midoriya household.
an explosion in the opposite direction caught her attention. she didn’t plan on making a detour, but if she knew anything about izuku midoriya (and she knew everything about izuku midoriya), she knew he’d be there.
she pushed her way through the crowd of bystanders and caught sight of what was causing the ruckus. the spiky blonde hair and bright red eyes peeking from the muddy green sludge made her stomach cave.
her body felt stuck. it wasn’t until a flash of green ran through the chaos that she took off to help.
for izuku, she’d do anything.
she felt those beady eyes stare her down as she forced her hands through the mess. it seemed like no matter how much she was able to disintegrate, it’d come back tenfold.
after all might put an end, the two instigating teens got chewed out by the adults.
“what were you thinking? do you have a death wish?”
“at least we tried to help. that’s more than what can be said about you pros.”
she shut that down quick.
during their walk home (for real this time), she was properly introduced to small might.
after izuku committed to training with the hero, akina was there everyday working with him. if he was really determined to go to ua, she had to be there by his side.
after passing the Entrance Exam, akina hayashi ended up in class 1-b, much too far from izuku midoriya and katsuki bakugou in her own professional opinion.
she got requests from both inko midoriya and mitsuki bakugou to look after their boys.
she made no effort to befriend her classmates. outside of class, she acted as izuku’s shadow. she didn’t say much, but she always there. everyone thought she was his girlfriend for a while.
the tension between akina and katsuki was tense. every time she saw izuku at the end of the day, likely covered in bruises and bandages, she’d approach with a soft look on her face, find out it was from katsuki, and offer to kill him.
“WUH- kina-chan you can’t go around saying things like that! people will think you’re being serious!”
“but i am, izu-kun.”
during the UA Sports Festival, it didn’t take long for akina to lose sight of her friend. during the cavalry battle, she got grouped with neito monoma.
after her team got eliminated, she waited for izuku with some of the other class 1-a students. the boys were enamored with her aura and the girls were mildly intimidated by it.
it made her anxious to see izuku fight and not be able to do anything to help him, but his classmates were confident that he could handle himself well.
she mostly kept her eyes forward, but when uraraka came back from her round against katsuki, she turned her attention to the girl.
“…”
“um.. hi?”
“.. you did good.”
something about the way she said it had everyone’s except katsuki’s faces turning red.
akina ended up working under a hero in hosu for her internship. she tried to use it as an excuse to not worry about her friend for too long. the beeping on her phone though, ensured that that wouldn’t be the case.
she excused herself and took off, running in the direction of the blinking dot on her screen.
she ran towards the alley and came to a stop just as todoroki was rounding the corner. the sight of her closest friend, his classmate, and a pro hero all laid unmoving and the Hero Killer ready to strike.
it wasn’t long after her arrival that they were able to take the man down. that’s not to say they came out of it unscathed.
they were all wrapped in bandages, and akina had a long gash going down the side of her face.
after that, akina essentially became an honorary 1-a student; she was invited to spend time with them outside of school as her own person and not an extension of izuku.
katsuki’s eye started twitching when he found out class 1-b would be going to the same Training Camp.
while at the forest, akina was tasked with improving the restoration of things she’s disintegrated and forcing the pathway of the destruction.
being in the same vicinity as her genuinely had bakugo tweaking, and kirishima and kaminari thought it was hilarious.
“man, i don’t think i’ve seen you this worked up in a long time.”
“and she’s not even bothering you! it’s almost like you have a cru-”
the explosion shook the ground.
she’d been hiding in a tree when the smell of fire hit her nose. katsuki and shoto had just gotten past her. she jumped down and made quick work of joining the two (safety in numbers and all that) and one of her fallen classmates. it didn’t take long for them to come face to face with moonfish.
getting permission from the hero to use their quirks was unexpected, but hearing that katsuki was one of the targets made akina’s blood run cold.
as shoto started putting up ice walls, akina grabbed the kid off of his back and made something of a barricade by breaking down the ground just enough to hide the boy.
she soon joined the fight, turning the blades coming out of the man’s mouth to dust as they made contact.
she and shoto held their own until dark shadow came charging at them.
the group of students kept pushing through the forest, eventually running into asui and uraraka.
in the end, katsuki ended up in the hands of the league of villains.
akina, moving on muscle memory, ended up riding to the hospital in the ambulance with izuku.
when inko showed up, akina got down on her knees and apologized profusely for failing to protect her son.
she did the same thing at the bakugou household.
akina, to everyone’s surprise, joined the group for the Hideout Raid. she said it was to keep an eye on izuku.
he knew it was a lie.
it was nerve wrecking seeing mt lady, best jeanist, tiger, and gang orca fall against the masked man.
they were all frozen in fear until the sound of the angry blonde rang through the air.
the teenagers eventually came up with a plan.
akina reached for the ground, using her quirk to disintegrate the concrete under the boy. he was quick to notice it.
after the boys took off down todoroki’s ice ramp, akina stayed put just long enough to see katsuki shoot himself into the sky and grab kirishima’s hand.
after she knew he was safe, she ran in the direction of the rubble to help those in need.
it took her a while, but she was able to help civilians get to safety, disintegrating everything in her path.
when she got away from the chaos, she called izuku.
“kina-chan! where ar-”
“izu-kun. are you and katsuki okay? are you somewhere safe?”
she stood by, holding her breath as she watched all might go against all for one on the big screen.
as she watched the hero bulk up for what was probably the last time and raise his fist in the air, akina felt her legs give out, and for the first time in a long time, she cried.
she found the rest of the first years and went with them to drop katsuki off at the police station before going home.
she stayed in her room for a few days, not even coming out when vlad king came by to speak to her mother about the new dorms.
the day she went out the check the mail was, coincidentally, the same day all might and eraserhead were visiting the bakugou residence. katsuki had just finished a conversation with all might.
“katsuki.”
he stopped, but he didn’t look at her.
“i’m glad you’re okay.”
she then turned to all might, bowing at a ninety degree angle, and thanked him sincerely for protecting japan.
katsuki walked back inside his house, his face warm.
(not gonna lie this is probably the first time they’ve ever had an interaction that had nothing to do with izuku)

✧ councilor!sevika who stalks over to the woman stumbling away from the desk and grabs her by the hair on her head, dragging her to the clear space in the room.
✧ councilor!sevika who slams the woman to the ground, and stares her in the face. all she sees is the anguish that’d been on her wife’s face for the past two weeks. and then she sees the fear that was on her daughters face when she barged into the office.
✧ councilor!sevika who blacks out as she drives her fist into the woman’s face over and over and over again until she can’t hear the woman’s pleas. and then she continues to punch the woman in the face.
✧ councilor!sevika who doesn’t stop until she registers her girl crying for her mama, the woman in front of her no longer even recognizable as a person.
✧ councilor!sevika who staggers over to the desk to untie her daughter, face and fist covered in blood that didn’t belong to her.
✧ councilor!sevika who is still running on adrenaline, but immediately comes down when her daughter flinches as she approaches her.
“hey, i’m not gonna hurt you. you’re okay, i’m gonna get you home, hon. everything’s gonna be okay.”
✧ councilor!sevika who has to carry her daughter down the stairs and through vaun because she holds onto her so tightly (realistically she wouldn’t have let her walk even if she wanted to).
✧ councilor!sevika who is overcome with so many emotions as she tells her wife that their daughter is safe.
“after they make sure everything is okay, they’re gonna move you two into a recovery room together. that way i can keep an eye on both of you.”
✧ councilor!sevika who, as she holds her weeping wife, thinks about the fact that she came this close to losing everything and can’t help but cry into her wife’s shoulder.

"my child is completely fine"
Your child is busy obsessing over the older Chilean actor, who is famous for playing grumpy characters, only soft for his children. Your child doesn't know whether they need him as father or partner, just his existence comforts them.
