Raidyn sat on the thick tree branch crisscrossed, moonlight struck his face with little to no more light than needed. It's cold, winds of icicles beating his skin, his bare hands tightened, the wings of his feather fell down with neshness.

The gang was sleeping quite... soundly below, the fire gradually growing smaller. With this, there was barely any light to see anything, not even the moon could bring them enough light. But this wind was a blessing, oh, it really was. In the morning the sun peaking through the forest glades were enough to make everything heat up, weary legs, aching arms, heaving breaths, furrowed eyes, and sweat sticking out freshly from their foreheads.

"Hoy," A voice called him and a flurry of wings rustled from behind the tree branch.

The man cracked his knuckles. "Hoy yourself." He whispered with a smile that Jayce couldn't see. "How did you make it out of the dark?"

Jayce scoffed, scratching the back of his wings, and settling himself comfortably down the thick tree branch. He was quite sure that they'll fall any second. "With my eyes, of course."

Raidyn's brows crept up his forehead. "I thought you were partially blind."

"Partially," The boy's mouth twitched upward, he breathed in the cool air. "Your sibling was crying herself to sleep again."

"Who?"

Silence.

"Well, Ryna, who else?" Jayce clicked his tongue with annoyance. He said it like that without hesitation.

"Uhm," The man started, his hand on his chin, demanding and thinking hard, his mind elsewhere. "Zer and Deborah and Kaori and—"

"I mean your biological sibling." He interrupted, as though exhausted with him, but Jayce could never be exhausted with people like them, no, especially them.

Raidyn sighed. "I... I have to go some time, y'know?" He apologetically said, he didn't really think about saying it like this, tonight. This night where everything is meant to be savored, taken in with a rest.

"But she loves you," Jayce protested, the faintest smile of his lips disappeared. "I mean," He cleared his throat. "I do too, we all love each other, or at least that's what I think, even though I..." His voice faded, and Raidyn could see him shrug from the dark.

A long, thick silence that finished Jayce's speech brought courage to his lungs again. "I'll remember you," He said. "No homo."

Raidyn snickered quietly, his chest heaving up and down, before he spoke. “I’ll remember. And you’ll remember, because you’ll be alive to do so.” Then his head lowered at the now sleeping Ryna. "All of you will."

Here's a quick little drabble of my OCs'. Not my best writing because I'm still a wreck at the moment, anyway, thank you to @sleepyprompts for sparking an idea in my brain. It's been a while since my fingers stretched this much, so thank you <33

btw, don't be afraid to give constructive criticism, it helps a ton!!

Prompt #701

“I’ll remember. And you’ll remember, because you’ll be alive to do so.”

The most important thing to remember when adopting a domestic dragon is to get one that fits your personality and lifestyle, since hoarding is only a common practice in some species. If your Cerulean Light-Wing Wyvern begins hoarding bottle caps, it is because your house doesn’t have enough room for it to fly around and comfortably spread out over a number of roosts. It is however, perfectly normal for the Ivory Guard Drake to keep a pile of bones and trinkets that the people it chases off drop near its primary resting spot.

If you have a hoarding dragon, you first need to stop thinking of their gathering as dealing with a problem, and see it as another need that your companion has to be met.

There are a few ways that people will recommend “dealing with” a dragon’s hoarding instincts, the first of which being to ignore it and hope they satisfy themselves, which NEVER WORKS. When young dragons find something that they like, their mind will tell them to claim it as theirs, which can be extremely dangerous if they get things that aren’t designed to be gnawed on like knives or batteries.

The second way is borderline animal abuse, but is the most common method that I’ve heard people trying. Asserting dominance and forcefully dispersing your dragon’s hoard is only going to distress them, especially if you shout or make big, erratic movements as you do so. This will make your companion fearful of you, and more snappy with strangers that come into your home, especially if they are forced to share couch space or stand back while things they want to be theirs are touched and potentially taken by the stranger. This should go without saying, but never get physical with a dragon when you are upset with it. They are faster, sharper, and more specially aware than you are, and even then, they have feelings and do not deserve to be a punching bag for any reason.

The third method, and the best one by far, is to calmly redirect your dragons hoarding to an unobtrusive location in your apartment, house, or property. Most common pet breeds are perfectly happy to pile their selected items in a little closet, especially if you give them a cozy dog bed. This method can take a minute to get through to a dragon, but once they understand that you aren’t stopping their hoarding, they’ll be much calmer about the situation. If you use this method and your dragon takes something dangerous or that you need back, just talk to them. Dragons are intelligent creatures, and if you talk them through why they shouldn’t eat your balls of yarn, they’ll likely understand.

Of course, every dragon is different in their personality and what they even want to hoard, so this whole deal is extremely flexible. If your dragon likes shiny things, trade coins and fun rocks for your TV Remote. If your dragon collects bones from squirrels that get a little too cozy in your backyard, then take the bones and clean them when your dragon is taking a nap. If your dragon doesn’t show any interest in hoarding, then don’t try and get them into the habit for likes on your videos of your “sweet baby pet” trying to claim a statue that’s three times its weight and nearly killing itself by dropping the statue off of a table.

If anyone has any trouble figuring out what all of those boxes and lines mean on the Dragon Breeds website, then I’m more than happy to make a follow up to this guide telling you how to properly pick your draconic life companion, with some information on the bigger breeds as well.

Small domestic house dragons have become the norm. Here is a guide on how to deal with the hoarding instinct of your little one.

Frank west needs to meet these travelers . He'll have a story every single week. Each one of them bangers.

You once made a promise to yourself: if you ever met a time traveler, it wouldn't be a big deal. You’d tell them the date, the most important political conflict, a recent technology, and send them on their way. You now encounter a time traveler nearly every week.

@dilemmaontwolegs you know I love you but if you do that I might just die of sadness

Hi! Uh, could i request some grief prompts? Like uh, A just lost B? If thats too dark you could just do villain x hero prompts instead fkksjs

It’s not too dark at all! I might do villain x hero prompts further down the line.

Grief Prompts

Prompts

A and B were very close but B was never open or affectionate to A. After they died, A goes through B’s stuff and finds a box of trinkets. The box is full of pictures of A and B, momentoes that A gave B, and other things from their relationship.

After B’s death, everyone is gathered together, shocked with grief. A joins the room, chattering happily about something B did earlier, unsure why everyone else looks so upset.

When B was alive, A and B had casual rituals that they would follow without a fault; A would bring B coffee in the morning and leave it on their bedside table, B would make A a sandwich at lunchtime, A would drop a towel into B’s room at 6 because they know that B always showers at 6:30, and so on. After B dies, A can’t help but unconsciously keep doing the rituals.

After B dies, A has to tell B’s much younger sibling. Unsure how to gently break the news to a kid who doesn’t know much about death, A paints a fanciful image of the afterlife.

Everyone knows that B was writing a novel before they passed. A finds the unfinished story, in the process discovering hundreds of ideas and short stories by B (some of them not-so-subtly about A).

(Building off of 5) A takes it upons themselves to finish B’s story. They pour over their notes, go to B’s favourite brainstorming places, and try to figure out how B would end their novel.

Oneliners

“If I knew that those would be my last words to you, I would’ve said something sweeter”

“You son of a bitch, you promised me we’d grow old together. You promised me!”

“I don’t know for sure if angels exist, but if they do, B is one of them”

“Aren’t you supposed to pour out some drink when someone dies, as a sign of respect?” “At this point, I’ll take any excuse to get hammered”

“If you’re still somehow here . . . can you send a sign? Anything?”

I don’t talk about her very much, but this prompt is definitely the MC from It Will Hurt: And There Will Be No Fire. Her name is Yessei, and she’s a vegan and a Vampire and runs a coffee shop but can’t work a cell phone for the life of her.

“All those centuries, and you haven’t learned how to use a cell phone?” “I am 800 years old! Unless you know how to work a 15th century printing press, you can stop laughing and show me how to do the Twitter.”

Small fantasy worldbuilding elements you might want to think about:

A currency that isn’t gold-standard/having gold be as valuable as tin

A currency that runs entirely on a perishable resource, like cocoa beans

A clock that isn’t 24-hours

More or less than four seasons/seasons other than the ones we know

Fantastical weather patterns like irregular cloud formations, iridescent rain

Multiple moons/no moon

Planetary rings

A northern lights effect, but near the equator

Roads that aren’t brown or grey/black, like San Juan’s blue bricks

Jewelry beyond precious gems and metals

Marriage signifiers other than wedding bands

The husband taking the wife's name / newlyweds inventing a new surname upon marriage

No concept of virginity or bastardry

More than 2 genders/no concept of gender

Monotheism, but not creationism

Gods that don’t look like people

Domesticated pets that aren’t re-skinned dogs and cats

Some normalized supernatural element that has nothing to do with the plot

Magical communication that isn’t Fantasy Zoom

“Books” that aren’t bound or scrolls

A nonverbal means of communicating, like sign language

A race of people who are obligate carnivores/ vegetarians/ vegans/ pescatarians (not religious, biological imperative)

I’ve done about half of these myself in one WIP or another and a little detail here or there goes a long way in reminding the audience that this isn’t Kansas anymore.

Okay hold on because there are two ways this can go and both are so interesting

1. You are a matchmaker/breaker. People come to you to ask if they are tied by the red string. Your customer base is couples that are falling apart and want confirmation one way or another. It's certainly a messy job, but you are under oath to not lie.

2. You are a Private String Investigator. Your customers are single people who want to find their other half sooner rather than later. You track down their string, across all borders. Sometimes it turns unfortunate, as the other person might be in a relationship and think that person is their string. Also, you're basically stalking someone, and you don't know who until the last second, so danger is abound.

Some say that an invisible red string is tied around the fingers of soulmates meant to be together forever. As it turns out, you can see these red strings, and have therefore created a highly successful matchmaking business.

Kind of the point of the 40k AU I'm writing. I want to create a world to share with others.

reblog if you’re okay with people writing fanfics of your fanfics and/or fanfics inspired by your fanfics
