Nightmares . Possibly the only thing that kept Taliyah up at night . . . Quite literally . They were so vivid , so horrifying , that the young Shuriman refused to sleep in the same room as others . Yet , the one night she's forced to during travel of course has to have one of her worst .
Her fear was predictable . The water . After her first encounter with Noxians , Taliyah had developed aquaphobia . Being near large bodies of water gave her a chill . Her memories would swarm back , filling her head with dread . Her near death encounter . . . One she lives through over and over again in her nightmares .
It was dark and cold . A storm was brewing and screams was all that could be heard . Arguments . ' We can't just kill her ! Imagine the power , captain . The money something like that could give us . ' ' If yer jus' gonna defend a whore like her , you outta get out with 'er ! ' Then , the hands . What felt like five pairs grabbed her by the dress Taliyah wore . Each time she went through this , the voices were different . The lines always spat the same words , and no matter what , she ended up thrashing in the water . Losing her breath until she woke up in a coughing fit , cold sweat covering her brow .
However , things had gone a bit different this time around .
Taliyah was fighting against the hands that held her , making her thrash in bed . She thought she knew how this was going to end . Though , unlike the other times , one had began to say her name . Deep and familiar . The freckled woman turned her head , vision blurred with tears , though a singular thing was as clear as day . A crow , sitting on the fore boom . A stronger grip tightened around her right arm , forcing her to yelp in pain . That had brought her back.
It took a moment to realize what had happened . That Taliyah was safe(ish) in a warm bed . A warm bed with a tired looking Swain holding her arm . " E-Erm . . . G-Good morning . . . ? " She said nervously .
This . . . was definitely strange . His explanation made Taliyah's blood run cold . An arena ? She had heard of it , but she thought it was only something silly her mom had made up to get her to stop playing so rough . Granted , that didn't work , but . . .
Taliyah was brought out of her thoughts when a sudden hand gripped her shoulder . It was large and rough , something she definitely wasn't used to . The shuriman stiffened at the contact , though didn't open her mouth for refusal . In fact , she feared refusing the general . Who knew what a man like Swain could do ?
" N - No . . . I haven't visited a city under the rule of Noxus . I grew up in a tribe that was always on the move , though I did encounter people from there . If I'm to be honest , they seemed almost . . . Miserable . " Taliyah answered his question lightly , eyeing the city . It was dark , in her opinion . Crowded and full of blacks , reds , and dark blues . Dangerous eyes followed the pair , one reason being because of Swain , the second because of Taliyah's bright clothing . Places like this always made her stick out like a sore thumb . " Do people know how to be subtle ? "
The realization was evident in her eyes, the earth colored irises widening in recognition. “The pleasure is all mine, miss Taliyah” Swain replied smoothly, quieting down to listen to the girl’s explanation.
An ideological approach to answering was the Shuriman’s choice. He’d reply in kind. “Some of our customs are brash” The general admitted to the girl. “But violence is universal language. We try to limit the use of violence to battlefield or arena. Should someone start practicing excessive violence outside those theaters… We offer them a choice. To serve in penal legion and take their tendencies to battlefield, or to the arena where our champion Draven will educate them on the wielding of such violence for amusement’s sake” He offered her a chilling smile at the end of this explanation.
Stepping beside her, his hand closed around her shoulder, turning to young woman to walk with him, the two heading deeper into the city of Noxus Prime. “Have you visited the Noxian cities in Shurima? Tell me, how are they nowdays?” He asked in conversational tone, as the two began making their way deeper into the city.
Jericho . . . Swain . One of the three rulers of Noxus . Taliyah's eyes widened a bit after his introduction , though it was blinked away at the question . " It's nice to meet you , General Swain . A - And . . . Err . . . That's a hard question to answer . Part of me says the rocks are neat , but the other says it's standards . How anyone is welcomed — it sounds like a nice place , not including the bloodshed or trickery . "
Taliyah got the hint . The curious girl took a step back , eyeing the Noxian cautiously . She was always a bit skeptical of Noxians ever since . . . The thing had happened . Nonetheless , she answered the question . " Taliyah . And . . . You are , sir ? " Taliyah's voice read her nervousness . Perhaps starting a conversation with someone she's yet to know is dangerous ?
