“little gifts” ; messiah & titus

continued from [ x ] ; @carnifcx

Sometimes Messiah wondered if he had a self-destruct button that just… flipped itself, when he interacted with Titus. He’d honestly approached the other to simply offer him a gift on a holiday, and yet? He couldn’t resist the jab he’d decided to take at him. And yet, it hadn’t been his intention. It’d just slipped out. And before he could apologize – the other spoke.

“So, you’re trying to tell me you earnestly never steal anything just because you want to?” There was doubt thickly laced in his tone. He wasn’t the type of person to just take others at their word. And with this man in specific? ( He could be almost INHUMANLY distrusting. ) A problem he recognized. And one he was attempting to work on . . . especially given who they both worked for. And yet, here he was. Botching another attempt. ‘Genius I may be, and yet? Here I am.’ He cursed himself quietly, allowing the other to take his present, and crossing his own arms in turn. “It seems unlikely.” And here he was just shoveling further mistakes on top of the prior one. Rather then backing down, accepting his mistake for a moment – swallowing his pride and apologizing? Nope.

However, as the other shoves a bouquet against him, he blinks a few times. Confusion alight in his amethyst eyes, and he reaches for the offered gift. WAIT, WHAT? The other had gotten him something as well? Why??? It wasn’t as though the other had any reason to give him anything. ( It wasn’t as though he had a reason to give Titus anything ether, and yet? When he’d seen the box, he’d thought of him… not that he’d say that aloud. )

And despite being flattered, when the other made his comment, his eyebrows knit together a little – and he reaches out a gloved hand to take the others gift. “… I suppose I’ll hold my tongue, then. As you’ve already answered my question.” Messiah somehow doubted that was the absolute truth. But, he’d leave it alone for now. PERHAPS that was just his suspicious side, anyways. “Thank you. You’ve got a good eye.”

Oh look, he was able to say one nice thing.

“… perhaps you’d like to join me? I was going to a reservation I made for dinner.” He’d at least ask – even if he thought the other would likely decline. Though, he couldn’t resist making one more quick jab: “Though, I suppose I’ll have to make a side-trip now, as well. To drop off these flowers. But I suppose you can come along for that as well, if you’d like.”

He wouldn’t wait for an answer. In fact, he would turn on his heel and begin walking away from the THIEF. Why? Because he was starting to wonder what sort of hit he’d make if he just kept talking to the other. T r u l y, he was beginning to wonder if that’s just how he acted around TITUS. If he would, consistently, just attack the other for no reason at all. However: He hoped the other recognized the second part as being… somewhat kind? Messiah liked to keep people out of his private life. So? Up until now, he’d never offered to let anyone come to his house.

      Especially not the thief.

They had a NEGATIVE history between the two of them – and it was a matter of T R U S T. Not that he thought he had anything there that the other would be particularly interested in. . .

“haunted” ; messiah & isanami

continued from [ x ] ; @smiletorn

At the very least he was glad she was willing to listen to reason – hearing him out and calming down a little, even coming to her own conclusion about the storm. Good. She had a working head on her shoulders. This was important, if they were going to be here together. Messiah didn’t work well with others often, especially civilians.

Especially CIVILIANS who got in the way of his jobs. But? That was another matter. “That is the most likely solution, yes. Electricity can travel through the ground, or if it just happened to hit a powerline or such – it’s likely that it’d just turn on, if sparked into action.” At least, that was far more likely than believing this place to be haunted.

      Right?

Science had nothing to imply that spirits stayed in any place. Though rumors and stories spun frequently about hauntings and the chaos that it could cause – Messiah was unlikely to believe it without proof. Spirits, strong attachments, regrets, anger… guilt . . ? There were many popular stories to explain “HAUNTINGS,” but? As far as he was concerned, those were the ramblings of a paranoid person. Or of a person feeling “GUILTY” themselves.

“haunted” ; Messiah & Isanami

“You needn’t apologize. You’re uncomfortable. That’s perfectly human.” Messiah reassures, as his eyes fixate on the hall – he was trying to see if he could pick any shadows moving in the distance. However, aside from the ones you would expect from flashes of LIGHTNING through dust-covered windows? He couldn’t see anyone moving inside the parlor. “If it makes you more comfortable, you’re welcome to continue holding onto my arm. But, if we find another person in here, I’m going to need it back – and you’re going to need to get behind me.” He couldn’t have her impeding his ability to fight, should he need to.

And honestly, if she was going to be here with him – he’d almost rather know exactly where she was, then risk her wondering off. At least this way, he can reassure his clients that she was doing not damage to the place and keep her from risk of being sued. Or arrested for trespassing.

“haunted” ; Messiah & Isanami

“Detective Messiah.” He corrects, offering an ever-so-slight smile this time. His amethyst eyes shifting from his focus only for a moment to meet the other eyes – “Though, given the circumstances, just Messiah would be fine.” Why waste time in a situation where communication might be important?

However, he raises his eyebrows a little at her question. Suddenly curious about the land, hmm? How curious. “They’re not in a position to have firm plans, I’m afraid. Given that they know little about what is here, or the condition it’s in – they’re going to need to make sure it’s safe for a property inspector to come through and assess the place. Once they’re finished, it’s likely to have everything here sold and the property destroyed to build something else. At least, that’s what most would do given the state of the place. But? Perhaps they’d refurbish and create a museum? That’s what I’d do.” Perhaps that made him a little… ODD. But he enjoyed old places like this. And it’s hard to copy this sort of building with modern designing. However, as they talk, he starts moving forward – his voice a whisper as he gradually inches forward. He wasn’t going too quick – he would make sure she could keep holding onto him as he continued forward, should she want to. He wouldn’t shake her off or try to move on without her.

For both of their sakes? It was probably just better to have her come along for the ride anyways…

// messiah reed - verses

{ Master Detective } –                   ( ver ) .genius╰☆╮(❝Messiah Reed❞)

[ Well renown for his skills as a sleuth, it no longer surprises him when he’s called in for particularly difficult cases. After all: This is the life he chose for himself. He is the one who picked the name “Messiah Reed” for himself - and he’s the one who decided to make a real use out of his skills as a detective.

For him to be headlining in newspapers and such? Is no oddity. It is just a show of his skills. So far? There has been no case that has left him stumped - though? There is one particular thief who is especially difficult to catch… ]

{ Prince Candidate } –                   ( ver ) .chosen╰☆╮(❝Messiah Reed❞)

It was all part of the plan.

Him being chosen as one of the Seven, one of the Candidate’s for becoming the new emperor? It was no surprise to him. He was a good choice - a genius, a hard worker, a man who never settled but always pushed himself to be the best of what he did. It didn’t shock him, what shocked him? Was some of the others chosen.

This is the verse that’ll be used for any threads actually taking place in the Labyrinth.

{ Guardian } –                    ( ver ) .belonging╰☆╮(❝Messiah Reed❞)

Having decided to officially support Ewan as the new emperor, Messiah, along with the others, work at his side - doing what they can to support him in his endeavors. Even though it appears their choice will not be easy. For themselves, or for their young emperor, they stand by their decision.

He was the best possible candidate to bring them all together. And? He has no regrets.
