Em braiding Mallory's hair before a window. Light pours into the dimly lit room. They have ambivalent expressions. Mallory's braid is drawn to resemble the fraying rope holding back the curtains. On the wooden walls of the cabin, childlike scrawls carves such innocent content as: stickman drowning, stickman with two mouths, prayer marks.

The sky is dim. Em has removed the sackcloth from a child sacrifice's head. In the hand he used to hold Mallory's braid in place, he pulls taut the rope extending from the sacrifice's collar to hold the corpse in place. The exposed face is river-bloated and torn open by crab claw. Behind them is the wooden sacrificial post carved with prayer marks, tall grass, and the wooden cabin. From within the cabin, light shines out from the same window in the previous picture.

I had a lot of fun embedding the parallel motifs!! PLEASE take a look at the details across both works they are meant to be viewed in parallel.

Artwork inspired by a headcanon that Em used to braid his sister's hair until he could no longer do so without seeing the shadows of the children he has sacrificed.

Pretty much every parallel motif in this drawing can be read as symbolism!!
