I think that my most controversial opinion in the fandom is that even after 5 years of being here, I still...enjoy canon. Like, I see most people being like "we don't claim canon these characters are our OCs now" and I love that everyone is so creative, it's what makes this fandom special and I myself have some headcanons that might differ a lot from canon, but I think the original manga is criticised a liiiil bit too much. It was never meant to be serious, it's all comedy, it's for laughs and giggles with the occasional emotional moment or deep revelation, and I personally enjoy it. I don't get all the complaining about it being inaccurate and "too light" because...you decided to make something deeper out of it, the manga wasn't intended to be deep or anything.
Don't get me wrong, this doesn't mean I think Hetalia is perfect and doesn't deserve to be criticised, in fact, I think it's FAR from perfect and has a lot of flaws, but I still enjoy it and I'm forever grateful for all the content creators out there gifting us with their own interpretations of the characters. You all kept this fandom going when we had no canon content coming and you deserve medals 🥰🥰 this was just something I've been wanting to talk about for a while
