here’s my thing: i’m a broke college student who really doesn’t do much with her time in between classes, so om! is a perfect hyperfixation. i play twice a day for each 12 hour ap flash; i get my tasks done for 18 dp on the first flash, then spend the second flash ap on doing events/collecting items/what have you. i don’t mind the 2 dp loss, as it’s gained back pretty easily. however, i’ve gone through all 60 lessons, which took me quite a long time because of difficulty building strength within my cards. at this point, i have a UR card (or even two) for every sin in both battle & memory cards. the devil tree percentages are all around 70 since i don’t have multiples of the UR (which is another issue in itself), and the levels are all maxed at 100. this is BARELY enough to get through lessons 40-60 with glowsticks. my question is: how much time & effort is going to be required for the next season? i don’t want to spend money & im thankful that i’ve gotten as far as i have being f2p, but the game is becoming quickly unplayable for me. the strength of the battles in level 60 are on the high end of the 300k range, which i can only reach with the glowsticks on high powered URs. it takes 100k grimm to unlock another 10 levels on a UR card past the 100th level, and to do that for each sin in just the battle cards is 700k grimm- NOT COUNTING how much it will cost to ACTUALLY up the levels. are you joking? the monetary system was fine even a year ago because progressing in the game wasn’t locked behind the fortress of a paywall that it is now. listen- i played mystic messenger. i’ve unlocked every route & played through every DLC. that definitely cost me, but i have not spent over $300 for that game which i’ve had for FIVE YEARS & unlocked ALL THE CONTENT for. the writing is good in mysme, and i was satisfied with every purchase. for om! i cant say that i would be satisfied with any purchase (besides merchandise), which makes me sad :/
We deserve better.
I say this every time and I’m going to say it again: Obey Me needs to make money. I do not mind that fact. I do not mind that some cards are locked behind a paywall, like the charge missions and such. I get it! A free game needs to generate income somehow, and those that contribute to it get special bonuses as incentive. I get it, and that’s cool.
However, it’s gotten a little ridiculous.
This is the second thing that’s been hidden behind a gacha pull requirement. Last time, it was the memory card that required you to get the limited gacha UR without upping the odds a little bit. That was crazy, but I let it slide because at the end of the day, it was just one memory card. Not a big deal.
However, to have a set of home screen images and make some freebies after logging in a certain amount of days (Satan’s) and some needing a gacha requirement (Lucifer’s) is kind of ridiculous. Make UR cards hard to unlock, that’s fine! It feels like if some Devil Tree unlocks just gave you another card. Frustrating, but forgivable. But the fact that there are multiple of the same item, the only difference being which character it features, that requires you to spend some sort of in-game currency while others do not, is ridiculous.
This is coming directly after Lucifer’s birthday event, which not only included a key system many users (at least, those on twitter) have complained very vocally about, but also increased the amount of points needed to get Lucifer’s birthday event UR.
The events are becoming near unplayable for f2p people and those who do pay but cannot constantly shovel money into a mobile app. Honestly, the writing in the later seasons (actually even in the first season) isn’t even worth money to read. On top of that, even though I love the undateables, as they try to add more screen time for more characters, their poor writing gets stretched even more thin. I love the game, I love the lore, but the quality is not worth the effort it takes to participate in any part of the game.
The events are too difficult to get any good rewards from unless you get the luckiest gacha pull every time - and even then, you might not be able to get an event UR.
The stories skyrocket in difficulty for most players I’ve seen (that weren’t here from the beginning), and levelling up cards takes so much grim and so many materials that it takes weeks just to get one up - and that still might not even give you the strength you need.
Rewards and challenges are almost always locked behind some kind of paywall, to a degree, and gacha rates are abysmal for a game that is now so reliant on the outcome.
I don’t know why exactly (other than greed) this is happening now. If we need to back off on the anime and the unit songs to get funds directed towards a more playable game, I feel that’d be a fair trade. It’s fantastic to see characters we love get more recognition, but the foundational content sucks. In my opinion, it isn’t worth a penny to read the terrible writing for 15 seconds with an anime beau. But I shouldn’t be locked out of progress for not wanting to spend money on this game.
I don’t know. I’m so so tired and frustrated, and I get that, again, since I have not spent money on the game I don’t have the same influence in my say. But this is ridiculous that the entire game is nearing unplayable. Something needs to change.
