In honor of the anniversary of the most unhinged shadowgast era, I present you the Timeloop-babygast-execution Au, where two mad lads run away from home (secret military underground bunker) and try their hands at murdering criminals (Caleb, their own father) and piss off a powerful dunamancer (Essek, their other father) enought to set up a timeloop none of them can escape (until they sit down and talk about their feelings/misunderstandings).

Don’t think about Caleb lecturing a hall of students with a tiny baby strapped to his chest, occasionally pausing to adjust them to a more comfortable position.
Don’t think about all the speculation about which of his revolving door of lovers got knocked up (the prevailing theory is the purple Tiefling who disappeared after only a month; the slightly pointed ears, pale hair and lack of horns do nothing to deter this theory).
Don’t think about Caleb tucking his chin and whispering in Zemnian with a awestruck expression, before returning to the lesson at hand.
Don’t think about soft new parent Caleb.
If I may...
...In return, students and apprentices info dump him all the ethic violations and safety hazards their teachers or masters commit on a regular basis with a big smile on their face, ready to witness one of Widowgast’s famous outbursts.
Caleb being the Gordon Ramsey of the Soltryce Academy, where he is very soft and gentle with his younger students who are just starting out, but getting into knock down drag out fights with other professors and older students over obscure details and ethical quandaries.

The Terribly Sad and Tragic Affair that Is the Fake Funeral of Shadowhand Essek Thelyss
Apparently, I am not only drawing for the Critical Role fandom, but writing for it, too. After months of nearly no progress I just vomited out 3k words this Tuesday and it only went downhill from there.
This fic is based on this post by @anne-o-nyme, I really hope I managed to capture the energy of it.

Summary: There were eight strangers in the foyer of his dead brother’s towers and Verin Thelyss was slowly losing his patience.
After the sudden “death” of Shadowhand Essek Thelyss, it is his brother Verin’s job to empty out his towers. The Mighty Nein show up to help (and maybe steal a few things).
OR: Verin is grieving, Essek just wants his stuff back, and the Mighty Nein are the Mighty Nein.
Warnings: I didn’t tag this with MCD, because Essek is technically alive and kicking. Since Verin doesn’t know that though, and this fic is written from his POV, this is dealing with grief and includes depictions of depressive thoughts as well as anxiety attacks. For more explicit warnings, please mind the tags on AO3. Take care of yourselves, and let me know if I forgot anything.

But this here—” he gestured vaguely at the interior of Essek’s towers that had always been too cold, too empty, but not like now, never like now— “This is a very difficult situation for me, so if you could please leave, that would be greatly appreciated.”

I don't know if anyone else had this idea before (...probably) but I would LOVE to see a fic about Essek's fake burial.
Listen, picture Verin, heartbroken, very confused about these outsiders who showed up unannounced at his brother's funerals, claiming to be his friends (”Essek do not have friends !”), and insisting on helping him empty out his tower.
First stage : polite confusion
Second stage : passive aggressive doubts from Verin
Third stage : Verin is convinced these people are huge liars and are trying to loot his dead brother’s precious belongings.
Final stage : Verin starts throwing stuff at the Mighty Nein. Chaos ensues. They end up teleporting with Verin in the Clay’s kitchen in front of a very surprised Essek, in his lounging clothes, busy drinking tea and drawing hearts around Caleb’s name in his spell book.
Essek just wanted to get some of his stuff back.

With the Mighty Nein animated series being in the works, there’s one thing I’m really hoping for and I don’t know if it’ll happen.
I want the little details of Caleb casting spells to be there, like how Liam describes the components and how he uses them. I would love it if we just had a zoomed in shot of him grabbing stuff out of his pouch and smooshing it together and then BOOM ✨magic✨
Because I swear Liam does it almost every time while everyone else is just like ‘imma cast this at this level’ so it would be so funny if everyone else casting spells was (unless it was a big moment) to just be BAM ✨magic✨
With the M9 being so close together to the point that jester reading smut out loud is like talking about the weather. (Slight nsfw ahead)
Do they go to sex shops together? How many times have they just fucked with some poor shop keep by being like.

Like I can see them all just happily going around a sex shop together, with Jester enjoying looking at all the dongs for ‘inspiration’ and everyone taste testing lubes like it’s fine wine, messing around with some stuff and one of them just being like.
“Well shit I’ve just learned something new about myself”
Veth, Jester and Beau giving Essek suggestions on toys and stuff for Caleb and he’s like.
“You know way to much about eachother”
With jester piping up.
“Yea and we’ve only seen him naked like twice!”
Since obviously our boy Snufkin loves to travel anywhere and everywhere, so my crossover loving ass likes to think that he’d eventually run into other characters from all my favourite medias! Like just imagine how wholesome it would be!!
Like imagine during his travels he comes across a tombstone and puts a coin on it to respect the deceased and as he goes to turn around and be on his way. He bumpsinto the grounds keeper, who just happens to be a pre-mighty nein caduceus clay, who’d be more than happy to have tea with him. And both of them exchanging tea recipes, even if Snufkin won’t have the means to make it.
can’t write anymore ironically or at least in a way that I can actually express, that isn’t just rambling but I promise you I’ve definitely imagined different scenarios and who he’d meet along the way but please tell me if you have any of your own!! I’d absolutely love to hear them!! But I hope you have a wonderful day/night/time

Critical Role gets so much weirder when you remember that lines like “I wish for you in the future, to find someone who will mourn you when are gone” and “You were not born with venom in your veins” aren’t scripted, but lines like “Mother, I bring news from the womb” and “Meow. I’m a cat” are

Quick, my fellow widomauk fans, I need your help!
If I was hypothetically thinking about making a short comic of a scene from a hypothetical fanfic idea where the Nein are folklore creatures in modern AU Nicodranas, and I hypothetically needed to pick a pet name for Molly to call Caleb in that scene
(For reference, Caleb is a phoenix and Molly is an ijiraq—the latter is a creature from Inuit folklore, I highly recommend looking them up if you’re interested in folklore they’re cool :D)
guys guys guys, fellow critters, oh my god, everyone please go listen to ‘Strawberry Wine’ by Noah Kahan and think about Caleb and the blumentrio while you do. it’s so sweet and sad and it’s so perfect for them, my heart can’t take it
like? do you hear?? these lyrics?? they so perfectly encapsulate how Caleb thinks of him and Astrid and Eadwulf. they loved each other deeply. they were forced together due to circumstance. he misses them dearly every day. he could never be with them again.

did Fjord ever laugh like Eadwulf? did Molly have the same taste in drinks as Astrid? did Caduceus and the Wildmother remind him of Eadwulf and the Raven Queen? did he ever give Astrid the same wildflowers that Yasha had pressed in her journal? did he ever wake up curled beside the Nein in the dome and think, for just a brief moment, he was somewhere else, huddled against a different band of ragtag wannabes?
