I’m assuming the typical red-yellow-green.

First electric signal was installed in 1912, still manually operated and with only two colors with a buzzer warning of color change. The three color light was created in 1920 with a built in timer

They were computerized in the 1950s, using pressure plates to detect vehicles were waiting at lights, sometimes even how many were at light and the time they were waiting

Red = stop

Yellow/amber = slow down

Green = go
