“Obedient Soldier”
[A phrase uttered by Sephiroth in Scene 07-06. As this line indicates, Sephiroth in BC (Before Crisis) was regularly obedient to orders, such as defending the Mako canon and protecting Hojo. Therefore, Shinra valued the worth of Sephiroth's loyalty and treated him like a hero.]

He uses the term “従順な“ which is described above. He willfully submits himself to Shinra’s authority regularly in spite of inner turmoil and reluctance much of the time.
I see more of this with every update in The First Soldier. Sephiroth calls it his only job. You would say then “Yes, and he is paid for it and treated like a hero! That is why he obeys!”
First. Where is this interest in money? And who is to say he receives it? He was raised and trained by Shinra from his boyhood days. His lack of interest in money is said clearly.
Angeal might have partially misjudged him for it too in chapter one of episode 2 when Bachman asked Sephiroth’s opinion on the situation in Robio:
Sephiroth: “Search for the missing troops. Don’t interfere with the filming. Anything else is not my job.”
Angeal: “You’re a stingy guy.”
Sephiroth: “What?”
Angeal: ”There’s no harm in experiencing things. Don’t just consider profit gain and loss.”
Sephiroth: “That’s not the reason.”
Angeal: “Then tell me what it is.”
Sephiroth: “….”

There is another reason Sephiroth focuses so narrowly on his job but he does not want to state it. He does not want to explain why he focuses on nothing else. Why?
His disinterest in money itself was more obviously stated in episode one:
Matt: “We'll have to talk about the distribution of the reward money… fortunately, he (Sephiroth) doesn't seem to care about money.”
Money is not the reason for Sephiroth’s loyalty to Shinra then. You might then say it’s because they treated him as a hero! Like as it was said in the Guide, they valued his loyalty and dealt with him as a hero. But where is it stated that Sephiroth wants that either? No, it is the opposite.
Sephiroth: ”I don’t want to be a hero. I want to live a normal life…”
Glenn: “What did you say?”
Sephiroth: “Nothing. It’s never going to happen.”
But Sephiroth! Since you are a hero, Shinra must spoil you and treat you well? They must give you so much! Is that why you stay with that defeated resignation?
Perhaps you have authority and respect within the military! The fandom has always called him the General….
Ignore that you see the cameras he hates, the false propaganda he knows about, his low sense of self-worth, how he sees himself as a cyborg killer that does not deserve friends. He never experienced the sensation of joy and fun with others until he met Glenn’s team. Ignore that he was trained to be afraid and heartless. Forget that he has memories of Hojo’s pain and training.
And authority?
“Very sorry. We cannot follow orders from others outside of the normal chain of command.”
These are just infantrymen.
Sephiroth’s ability to refuse orders in Crisis Core was also an unofficial privilege that existed under Lazard’s generous command. If it were Heidegger, no privilege like that would have existed and Sephiroth would have had to kill Genesis and Angeal in Banora. Lazard, a man already disloyal to Shinra, had to be in command for that point in Crisis Core to exist.

Angeal Hewley is also made team leader over “Shinra’s hero” in episode 2 of The First Soldier. Years later Angeal still gives orders to Sephiroth that the hero follows. Sephiroth’s authority inside Shinra is not like a general or even a captain.
Not that then. Perhaps you are living a lavish lifestyle, hero?
….ah, but do I even need to explain why this one is nonsense when this boy was isolated and brought up by Hojo?

Did that Halloween event not show us the deeper horror beneath these other horrors? And who they were connected to?

Glenn: Hey! Hang in there!
Sephiroth: “I’m sorry. I was suddenly in a lot of pain, but I’m alright now.”
Glenn: “Don’t be so strong!! Rest! Rest! Don’t push yourself so hard just because you’re the team leader!! Just relax!
Sephiroth: “….I’ve never heard anything like that before. It’s just the reverse of what the professor said…”

Who would have ingrained such deep loyalty into the world’s strongest SOLDIER so well other than his father Hojo? Sephiroth does not speak of leaving Shinra until he is close to 25 years. He was shaken when Elfe questioned why he fought and if it was for any reason. He responds to a command from his friend Genesis on immediate instinct.
He is conditioned. That is why he was an obedient soldier to Shinra and why he stayed with them even when he hated his life. He was afraid. Of them and of Hojo!
The First Soldier will only keep showing this. Sephiroth’s friends were his chain to mental stability. When they left and died, he became vulnerable again and Nibelheim was timed just right. How much grief and anger must he have felt learning about how deep the use of his body and mind had gone? Enough to hate Shinra and soon everything.
Shinra is run by greedy pigs who have their dogs and sheep. They have their SOLDIER recruits, their Turks, their Deepground prisoners, their clueless employees. You will find that among these pawns, there are many who try to leave or question the power keeping them in check and that is because Shinra was not so careful enough to condition and lie to them.
They were careful with Sephiroth though because disloyalty from him would be so dangerous. The story shows this well enough.
Out of all of their abused pawns and attack dogs, Sephiroth was the one chosen to be exploited in front of the world and decorated in hero’s ribbons to cover up the scars. He was lied to about the depth of his abuse and given false hope in his two dear friends. He was trying to claw his way to the light and find himself so that he could be a real hero and protect others but there was no hope for such things. His cage was gilded and when he became aware of it, that boy’s heart was filled with sadness and then anger and then hatred.
His life was DESTROYED by Shinra from the start. His loyalty was sown into him mostly by Hojo. This new episode of The First Soldier has brought this truth further to the light and I do not think it was will stop.

Notes:
*Angeal’s words in chapter one of FS Episode 2 about Sephiroth’s “stinginess” do have a nuance that I do not want to ignore. He can be talking about money gain/loss but also a whole mindset! His words are broadly referring to a narrow-minded and “Scrooge-ish” view of things where there is not much room for anything outside of Sephiroth’s thin focus. That thin focus is Sephiroth’s assignment and the gain of completing it, which could include profit from Angeal’s perspective and would be a reason to complete a mission if we remember his scene with his parents where that is a discussion. The point is to say that Angeal is not only talking about money, but for this post I focused on that aspect of it because of Sephiroth’s response against the entire assumption and his formerly mentioned lack of interest in money.
the way he goes from a protective, defensive stance as young seph, to a risky offensive stance above that, and then not even in a fighting stance as safer sephiroth... very cool.
But. If you look at it from top to bottom you see how each one seems to be guarding and protecting the one below it, or hiding the lower one like russian nesting dolls. Something Something inner child Something Something.
Also makes me think the stance/position of the sword is related to how guarded/fearful he is about the Truth as time goes on. Sephiroth is always protecting an inner traumatized part of himself that fears he'll never be human until he learns that he never was.
Also the sephiroth head in the clouds with horns, it's hair + horns form the shape of the head of baphomet, which can symbolize divine knowledge/enlightenment, but he might've just drawn it that way bc the symmetry looks good idk

I don’t even like the anime but this song is KILLER. Inspired me to do the page where Cloud is fighting Sephiroth.
And this song I used to draw the one with only Cloud (not gonna lie, the whole album is super good). In this Au, after his cellular structure half-merged with Sephiroth he kind of becomes half-human (and by doing so he can sense the presence of spirits aka.Aerith and Zack? Maybe he can talk to them, too? I dunno).

Tragic Villain Rant (ig???)
so, this is my first post (no idea what I’m doing), but I just kinda want to vent/rant about tragic/sympathetic villains.
obviously, when looking at villains and analyzing, taking into account motivations and past traumas that lead up to their current actions is vital! It can change the message behind a story, the impact on characters within the narrative itself, etc. And there’s nothing wrong with liking a villain (regardless of redeemable qualities) and finding aspects sympathetic!
that being said, I just get so frustrated sometimes when all I see about a villain is their tragic backstory. What about the implications and consequences? The aftermath? I know people who like these characters usually don’t actually ignore/excuse the terrible things they do, but still.
might get some hate (if anyone sees this, which is doubtful), but this is somewhat specifically about Sephiroth and Shen Jiu, though there are others

"Just A Dedicated First-Class Fan" is a blog-based fanfiction/narrative set in the world of Final Fantasy 7 Crisis Core, where a huge fan of the first-class SOLDIERs from ShinRa hacks into their group chats and leaks the things they find out to the fans following their blog. The story is updated with each blog post.
The entire page is made by me and is posted officially under Fanfictions & Fantasies! I use Google Docs to create all of the 'Discord Screenshots' using a table I formatted myself, as well as graphics I designed myself, all with the intention of replicating the Discord UI. I'm looking for a partner to play as Cloud in a 1x1 Sefikura RP with me. On special occasions, I will be willing to roleplay as Cloud, but I am more accustomed to writing Sephiroth as he has been my muse for over 5 years, and he is my favorite character of all time.
Rules:
1. You must be 18 or older.
2. I am an advanced literate roleplayer. Thus, you must at least be a literate roleplayer with fluent English, even if it is not your first language. I do not roleplay with people who write in script or at the semi-literate rp level, and I do not rp in any other languages.
3. You must be okay with mature, darker themes, swearing and blood. This is not to be confused with ERP, though it is permitted if we both consent, and as long as that is not the sole purpose of the entire rp. I just enjoy more mature themes and when the rp is taken seriously.
4. You must be able to be active, and don't ghost me if you lose interest. If you cannot be active, don't message me at all. I do not want to be in an rp where I am left waiting for a reply for days, weeks, or months on end, as that is not fun at all. If you get busy, just let me know, and I will wait for you, but if it takes longer than 2 weeks for you to get back to me, I will leave.
5. You don't have to be perfect at roleplaying Cloud, but please have a thorough enough understanding of his character.
6. You must be able to help me develop a plot. This is a group effort, after all! While I do have many plot ideas, they are very vague and will need to be expanded on by both of us.
7. The roleplay will take place on Discord, but I will only be handing out my discord handle to people who have messaged me on here first, so be sure to dm me here if you're interested.
8. This can take place in canonverse or an AU. I do not mind either way as long as we can have fun.
9. Please be direct with me.
10. Know how to differentiate reality from fiction. If you are not okay with me roleplaying as a man despite being a woman, I do not suggest we roleplay. On another note, just because I may like to rp a specific topic, it does not mean I believe it is okay in reality.

Gi Lore Analysis Rewrite
(I deleted my previous theory post on the matter. I loved writing it but I want false information lingering on my page, especially after the ultimania proved it wrong.)

Correction on Pervious Theory:
So I was wrong about the GI being the original inhabitance of Gaia. At the time I read “…until at last it was subsumed by your own” , alongside the description of the calamitous event being an indication of The Omega weapon arriving. Thanks to Dirge of Cerberus and information regarding the Chronicles of Yore, that the Omega weapon will collect the Lifestream one day leave Gaia. To sail through the cosmos for another planet to inhabit (It’s also the plan that Sephiroth wanted to enact in Advent Children).
However, as I was going over my analysis to see how I went wrong, after learning through the new ultimania for rebirth said that GI did in fact come from another world.
So with that being said I would like to update my analysis. So we now know GI home world did in fact merge with Gaia, after the gi’s home world began to reach the end of its life. I don’t know how the merging happened but from the lines “the earth shook, sea’s boiled, sky shattered, and time stopped”, and “Few of my people survived the chaos and calamity. Those who did began a new life here”. It wasn’t someone the Gi planned for but tried to make the most of it. Only to be rejected by the planet and later on the Cetra. I still believe that Lifestream during the merging of these two worlds that gaia had override the system in whichh the GI has been a part of. Due to their system being compromised and the Lifestream was just stronger in comparison.
This still leads to the GI suffering and the creation of the Black Materia (or corruption of a white materia) and the events of the game so far.
New Theory:
I now believe that the reason why the Black Materia summons Meteor is because that is how the merging of the Gi’s home world happened. Ff7 has this theme of returning from where you came from, whether it be through the Lifestream, facing your past, or rediscovering who you are. So why wouldn’t this apply to the GI.
Their want for freedom from existence is manifest through the black materia. And since materia is created through memories, the meteor might represent the memory on how they arrived. So in a way their salvation/destruction comes form the memory of their former home.
I just realized that two of the most impactful people that Sephiroth has ever killed both have bows in the back of their hair.
