Eddsworld X Danganropa: Remnants of Despair (NOT CANNON. ANOTHER AU)
Here's the characters: Edd, Tom, Matt, Tord, Eduardo, (Jon is dead), Mark, Todd, Laurel, Diwi, Larry, Bing, Paul, Patryck, Jack, and Ruben. Get ready, the part after the keep reading will take a long time to finish!
The apocalypse. How did it happen? Well, in a nutshell; The college gang had despair experiments performed on them, extremely illegal and probably violating the Geneva Convention. Jon was already dead after the events of the End Part 2
Tord; "The Red Leader":
Tord was Paitent Zero. After the events of The End Part 2, he lost all hope and fell to despair once his friends left him. He destroys cities and makes communism legal. He also pirates anime and p*rnos while ruling New Norway.
Eduardo; "The Anti Hero":
Eduardo was thrown into a radioactive tank rather than having the chemicals injected into him. Rather than "save" people, he just outright kills them. He and Edd destroy cities and communities. From laser eyes to super strength; he will destroy every living environment until nothing is left. Sometime's though, he can be seen mourning the loss of his beloved Jon in the graveyard he was burried in.
Paul; "Fighter Against Hope"
Paul, like his fellow soldiers Patryck and Tord, was lobotomized for despair. But he was the only one of the three to truly be under anesthetics during the experiment as Patryck was half-conscious and Tord was fully awake during the whole thing. He and the army he serves travel the globe, conquering countries for the land of New Norway. Just to have his leader Tord rule as a Communist dictator.
Matt; "Medusa of Mirrors":
Put in an mirror maze representing his own flaws, Matt fell into despair the quickest out of the group. Matt has become an even more of a narcissist than he already was. He learned how to use micro-bots to manipulate the reflections on reflective surfaces in order to show despair inducing images. Anything from him committing a brutal genocide to any onlookers' own flaws right in front of them. Legend has it that if you look directly into his eyes, you will become paralyzed with terror.
Tom; "Experiment 005":
Tom was forced to take a slightly more monstrous appearance via controlled shocks and cutting into his skin. Thus, Tom's horns started to show, he grew taller, and his mouth was now lined with sharp teeth. He still runs a bar, but it's more popular in underground anarchist culture . The bar is named The Ravaged Rager. The Ravaged Rager is infamous for the amount of murders that have occurred and its raves that end with broken legs and blood. When Tom's bar isn't open, he can be found walking the alleyways, looking for his next murder victim.
Mark; "Nevermore":
Mark was kept in the attic of the research facility, where he was fed through a door slit with the bare minimum of food on his plate. Slowly and painfully, Mark fell into despair under the guise of writing better stories through tragedy and hardship. Now Mark mostly hides in the shadows, writing novels filled to the brim with dark themes and crushed morals. If you read his books, then you will fall into despair and tears due to bad endings.
Laurel; "Juliet":
Laurel and Diwi were experimented on at the same time. During their experiments, they were both forced to endure a series of bright lights flashing in their eyes while dancing on a spinning carousel reciting Romeo and Juliet. She, Diwi, and Bing work together to create stage plays and movies that hypnotize the viewers into doing heinous actions for despair. Sometimes, they perform skits for Jack Hause's circus in order for the patrons to fall into deeper despair.
Diwi; "Romeo":
Same as Laurel when he was experimented on. Laurel, Bing, and him make stage plays and movies. He is still an idiot.
Larry; "Igor":
Larry was put in a small confinement where low and high frequencies were played 24/7 from an amplifier. As the Ultimate Assistant, Larry naturally helped his fellow Remnants of Despair with murder and committing atrocities.
Bing; "Dr. Frankenstein":
Subjugated to waterboarding with a dirty cloth, Bing fell into despair. He makes evil clones of Jon, the Ultimate psychic, for an army of clairvoyance. As a result, Eduardo keeps his distance from Bing at all times. Bing still makes movies to induce despair.
Ruben Goldsmith; "The Party Host":
The research team forced him and his possessed self into being repeatedly buried alive. Ruben now travels the globe searching for weary tortured souls desperate for shelter. He sets up these wonderfully (rich people stuff) decorated places, some people come in. He puts up a welcoming front to them, the people huddle at the fireplace, he gives them poisoned wine, they tend to die. If they somehow do not die from the poison, then when they are asleep, Ruben sneaks into the room they are sleeping in, and slits their throats. Once a month, Ruben will be at Jack Hause's circus as the announcer over the speakers, causing the patrons to easily fall into despair.
Edd; "The False Hero":
Edd had radioactive chemicals injected into his blood like a twisted version of Spider-man. Now he "saves" people from burning cities, only to drown them in the ocean. Or if someone is drowning, then he will chuck them into a burning building. Edd, like Eduardo, also destroys every place that a person lives in his path.
Jack Hause; "Rädelsführer/Ringleader":
Jack was constantly put in impalement arts where they was a target for knives. They eventually fell into despair, but it wasn't easy. They run a traveling circus that has risk taking acts such as tigers jumping through rings of fire into the crowd. Their circus acts are so mesmerizing that you would fall into despair without realizing. Sometimes, Diwi, Laurel, and Ruben join in for more despair inducing acts.
Patryck; "War Shock":
Patryck like his comrades was lobotomized, he was half conscious during the whole thing. He often flies planes that drop bombs onto cities and pilots giant death robots. When he isn't conquering countries for New Norway, he breaks into people's homes for gold and other valuable items.
Todd; "The Red Terror":
Todd was put through musical torture with poorly played instruments in a dark room. Todd is already a war criminal, so the whole world is already pretty fucked. He will also destroy cities, contaminate water supplies, and assassinate government officials. (Like Tord)
i like how this promo material (a wall tapestry according to the wiki) is basically just the final design sketches for future arc. except peko's is altered so she's not smiling anymore

I normally don’t do these, but I wanted to try it out! I might open up these simple outfit edits for Sonia and Chiaki since they have the swimsuit sprites and it’s easier to edit with those! So please don’t start sending in a bunch of complicated outfit designs for other characters after you all see this! ^^’ I still have to practice a bit more before I get to that stage!So here she is! I hope you like her! There was a few different designs that I could see of her so I kinda went with a simple-ish combination of the ones I saw!

Small collection of some sprite edits I’ve done for the Remnants of Despair! I made these for my roleplay blog, but I figured I would put them here too. Feel free to use them if you like, I just ask that you please give credit!
A continuation of ideas from my last post about a DR action game with protagonist Sakura. I eventually thought “y’know, she’s gonna have to face the remnants at some point.” Edit: There’s also a part 0, part 3 , part 4 and part 5

At first I was like “oh that would be really fun, I’ll draw that as a response” and then more ideas started stewing for the course of a month until we got to this whole thing. So thank you very much xD

May I pitch a fun "alternative chapter 5" in place of "oh Sakura just didn't die". What if it's something along the lines of "She enters a deathlike state that fools even Monokuma" and essentially pulls a Romeo & Juliet on them with only Hina in on the plan (she still does the whole disrupting the crime scene thing because *acting*) and Hina eventually wakes her back up... of course neither of them are chemists and it takes a few months for Sakura to wake up (thus allowing for an Upgrade Tree!)
See, that’s pretty interesting but I don’t know if the two of them would be able to convince Monokuma since he could hear everything while they’re talking about the plan. Even if they go somewhere like the bathhouse where he couldn’t see or hear it, he would know something fishy is up. Sakura was currently betraying him and that should be enough to lead him to believe she would be pulling something drastic.
Though, I do think there could’ve been more fun things done with the chemicals in the room. Could you imagine if someone with vague chemical knowledge used them to make an explosive substance??? Goodbye data lab door, we’re gonna go kick Junko’s ass directly.
But also this ask reminded me of something I’ve forgotten about for a while. It’s an idea I had before even starting the Roaring Cherry Blossom stuff. It was closer to “what could Sakura’s Revenge look like?” with the emphasis of making a spinoff that could fit into canon somehow. In the end, I kind of just took the gameplay idea and drew it for RCB but now that I think about it again…. It might not be a bad idea as a different way to start RCB instead of making it strictly an AU of DR1. I'd like to know what y'all think.
That’ll take a little bit to explain so bear with me. And also, @bananacreamphi it’s REALLY funny that you sent me this *during* the time I was typing this down xD

For the rest of this, I will refer to Roaring Cherry Blossom as RCB for shortening sake. If any of you reading don’t know what it is, make sure to see my tag that has all of my AU drawings or click this link to start looking!

Okay so, in this version, Danganronpa 1 happens. Same survivors, same deaths, same apocalypse. People are fighting for their lives, the Remnants are running rampant and the future foundation is struggling to fight them back.
But, here’s the thing. When the remnants went to Hope’s peak to retrieve the parts of Junko’s body, they also decided to desecrate the bodies in the bio lab for despair reasons. While opening and examining all the bodies, they notice that all of the bodies but Sakura’s are at a point of no return…...and Mikan gets a great idea.
What if she revives Sakura and brainwashes her to become another remnant?
She did briefly work under Junko and she could get it right this time. The remnants would have one more strong fighter on their side and would massively catch the enemy off guard.
So they take her back to the remnant’s base and set up a brainwashing room directly in the medical room. Mikan revives Sakura with her medical knowledge, she wakes up immediately being brainwashed into thinking everyone she knows and loves is dead and that she failed her family’s legacy. Nekomaru welcomes her to the team, and we begin the tutorial of learning the controls. You would have reeeally brutal attacks at first, Nekomaru would be empowering you to not hold back and just murder as much as possible.
Here was a drawing of her I made in late 2020 that I decided to redraw with her RCB clothing, enjoy.
I don’t think she would have the Kanabos at first but I think it looks cool xD
It would also be cool to see what life was like on the remnants’ side and how camaraderie could show up with people who’ve fully succumbed to despair. Nekomaru and The ultimate Imposter would be the general leaders I’d say. The first to motivate the group in battles and the other focused on infiltration and enemy Intel.
But anyways after some time going on missions and wreaking havoc, Sakura finds out about the future foundation and that her friends are still alive; sparking a speck of hope that is enough to start messing with her thoughts. When bringing this up to the others, they recommend she go and destroy the source of the issue to bring her the despair that she needs. She lets Hiyoko destroy whats left of her home and next comes planning how she is going to kill her friends. (maybe delving into the thoughts she had during the time she was a spy in DR1)
For the sake of this, let’s say she goes with a plan that revolves around baiting them out from the foundation and picking them off one by one. Long story short, Sakura gets very close to killing Makoto but the foundation pulls out everything in their power to knock her out. (say, chain binds, chemicals, stunning explosives, or tranquilizers perhaps)
…...And now Makoto gets a great idea.
We will take Sakura and test out the current version of the Neo World Program. If it works on her, then we can be sure it will work with the others.
They bring her to the room, memory-erasing happens and the brainwashing is removed. Sakura regains consciousness in Jabberwock Island like Hajime did and is very confused. (She would likely have her DR1 outfit on)
She soon finds Usami, and maybe even Chiaki, to explain why she’s here and how to escape. Artistic rendition because I like this idea C:
She does the Usami chores while getting a little more interaction with the digital characters and “graduates” from the trip. There could also be a moment where the foundation members from the outside communicate with her inside of the program to give her more context and to assure her she's not just stranded in some island.
Then she comes back out, has a touching moment with her friends now that she’s back to normal, and gets straight to work finding the remnants like regular RCB. But, this time she knows how the program works and can vouch for it if she ever needs to convince someone.
Man, imagine how the reunion with Kenshiro would go once she reaches Towa City.
So yeah, this is another option without making an entirely new AU of DR1. I hope this didn’t stray too far from the original point, I just thought it would be fun to finally write it down! C:

DR1 happens
Dead Sakura is taken when remnants took Junkos parts
Mikan revives Sakura and turns her into remnant
Remnants cause havoc and gets attention of Future foundation
Sakura tries to capture Makoto, the foundation manages to knock her out
Makoto brings Sakura to the Neo World Program and undoes the despair
Now the game’s goal is to find and capture all the remnants to put them into the Neo World Program too

Imagine if all of Sakura’s weapins had the same effect like the hacking guns. Like you pucnch the shit out of an remnant and since you were Using the “DANCE” bullet, they just start to dance on the spot.
Well, they would only work on robots so it wouldn't work on remnants...... unless....
But seriously, I have thought about her having the hacking gun upgrades. Even as far as to think of "combined" effects that could happen if you equipped two different upgrades, one in each hand. While I don't want to center the combat around them, (Sakura's natural fighting abilities should be number 1) I think it would be pretty cool if you got some of the upgrades when you finish the missions in Towa City. I don't know if Dance should be retained though xD
