I have a headcanon that the bat kids forcefully make Damian do this š and they even record him to embarrass him more
At this rate I REALLY pity the guy who'll be cast as Tim Drake if Ryan Potter doesn't get the role ESPECIALLY if that guy is white. Imagine all the hate that guy will get
Tim: You son of a bitch!
Damian: (Looks at Talia)
Damian: You know what, may be I am
I asked my friends to give me comic book characters to make chibis of, and hereās what they came up with
Whumptober day 3- a hairs breadth from death. Prompt is impalement lmao. Yeah buddy ur gonna need a tetanus shot.
Those are canon skateboard colours, the 90s/2000s were certainly a time. As always the sketch looks better :/
I love you Batman, they could NEVER, make me hate you.
I am. So fucking tired of Batman being portrayed as a bad parent and a toxic person. And itās so goddamn widespread. Fuck, it might be as bad as the whole āSuperman being a kindhearted Boy Scout is boringā take.
I get it, the manās not exactly stable, he watched his parents get murdered in front of him and spent years of his life training to fight crime dressed like a giant scary bat, of course heās not perfect.
But to say that Bruce Wayne isnāt caring, isnāt empathetic, to call him abusiveā¦it just misses the point of who the character is to me.
Why do you think he fights crime? Yes, part of it is because heās bitter and sad because his parents were cruelly ripped from him as a child, and heās lashing out against the corruption of his city. Itās arguably the focus of his earlier years. But he learns to become more than that. He learns to bring hope, a chance to be better.
Harleen Quinzel is the Jokerās right hand lady, but sheās also a victim of an abusive relationship and a woman with a surprisingly strong moral compass and a love for animals, and wants to get better. Thatās why we see time and time again that he has a noticeable soft spot for her, because he knows that sheās a good person at her core.
Harvey Dent is a man who will decide someoneās fate on a coin toss(and a pretty inaccurate depiction of DID), but heās also Bruceās close friend who clearly needs help learning to live with his condition, rather than try to get rid of it, and someone who he still goes out of his way to visit, even after everything, because he recognizes heās not just a criminal with a weird gimmick, heās a man who is struggling with a condition that heās mishandled his whole life.
Victor Fries is a cold, emotionless man who will callously discard allies and blame them for being careless, but heās also a man whoās either lashing out because he had the love of his life taken from him, or just desperate to make sure she isnāt taken from him, and is willing to do anything just to guarantee her survival. Of course Batman would understand, his whole life was defined by having people he loved taken away from him.
Even the Joker, arguably one of the most morally bankrupt characters in all of fiction, is someone that Batman has offered a chance to. After the guy shoots the daughter of his friend, a girl he cared for like she was his own kid, and paralyzes her from the waist down, he tells the Joker that he doesnāt want to hurt him. He wants to get him help. He looks at this monster who has taken countless lives and says āYou donāt have to be alone.ā
For fuckās sake, he sat with Joe Chill in his last moments so that he wouldnāt be alone. Joe Chill, the man who murdered his parents, who took so much from him, the person responsible for all of the misery and suffering heās gone through. And he sits with the man to comfort him while dies. Do you know how much emotional intelligence and maturity that must take? To comfort someone who arguably ruined your life?
And youāre gonna tell me the man who did that would abuse his kids?
That heād hold up the young man whose death was his greatest failure, the boy he grieved, and say this?
That heād look his goddamn son in the eyes and say this to him?
Why the FUCK do you think he took in Dick Grayson in the first place? It wasnāt because he saw the kid and thought āAh. A potential soldier.ā, it was because he saw a boy experiencing the same heartbreaking loss he had so many years ago, and wanted to make sure he didnāt end up as bitter and miserable as he was.
Why do you think he smiled when Tim Drake presented him a broken watch for Fatherās Day? Because he was just happy to see the boy alive and safe.
DAMIAN LITERALLY POINTED AT A COW AND SAID āIām keeping her. Sheās Bat-Cow.ā AND BRUCE JUST WENT WITH IT. DIDNāT EVEN NEED TO ARGUE WHY BRUCE SHOULD LET HIM KEEP HER. HE SAID āthis cow is my pet nowā AND BRUCE SAID āaight, betā.
The thing about Batman is that he wants to make sure nobody else ends up feeling the way he does. Thatās not just about stopping a mugger so a boyās parents arenāt gunned down. Itās about giving his loved ones the support and care that he couldnāt have, because it was taken from him. Itās about comforting someone who just went through a traumatic experience and letting them know that theyāre going to be okay. Itās about going to someone locked away in a cell who thinks that theyāre a lost cause and a burden to society and telling them that he wants to help them get better. Itās about EMPATHY and COMPASSION.
Thatās what makes him a HERO. Heās meant to inspire us, to show us that we can have that same empathy for others around us, that we can turn our suffering into hope for a better future.
I just wish more people at DC would start recognizing that. But I might as well follow that example myself. Maybe through this struggle of having to see this hero mistreat the people around him and act like a grade-A jackass, people will start to recognize that missing compassion, and slowly but surely, it might come back. After all, what is this post, if not trying to bring attention to the matter in the hopes of fixing it?
"i guess it's not that bad"
inspired by that panel from dc pride (2023) where tim complained about being constantly paired up with damian for patrols
tim stole that ipod from dick btw. dick's looking for it right now. he's digging through the box of miscellaneous cords for it
the dc pride panel:
Finally I am free from projects hell <3 Hi Tim <3
A delivery person comes to Tim's house one day with an age restricted object (like alcohol or something). On this day, Damian also happens to be visiting.
--
(Tim opens the door)
Delivery Person: Oh, hey kiddo, is one of your parents in?
Tim: Haha, no (he reaches for the package) do I need to sign for it?
Delivery Person: Oh- woah! (they hold the package away from him) Sorry, no can do, this needs to be collected by an adult. Are your parents in, or should I come back tomorrow?
(A cold gust of wind blows as Tim tries not to be mad about the all-too-common situation)
Tim, sighing: Right. I get it. Hold on.
(Tim goes to the kitchen to get his ID from his bag, but in his irritation, seems to be having trouble finding it in there)
Delivery person (out of sight): Oh! Hey, sorry for the trouble. And you're that kid's... parent?
Damian: Tim? No, I'm his brother.
Tim: ??????
Delivery Person: Oh, cool, that's fine too, could you sign for this?
Damian: Sure?
Delivery Person: Awesome, thank you. Hope you and your little brother have a nice day!
(The delivery person leaves)
Tim (stepping back into the entryway, only to see Damian holding his package, looking extremely confused): ... did you just accept my package?
Damian: Uh? Yes?
Tim: And he didn't ID you..
Damian: I'm not sure what just happened - I was just coming to see why you were taking so long at the door.
Tim, (snatching it out of his hands, his pride wounded): You don't even live here, don't sign for my packages.
Damian (who is just here to innocently hang out with his big brother): ???? š¶??
Tim, grumbling under his breath as he takes the package into the lounge: And who's he calling your younger brother? I'm 24. I'm literally 24. You're barely 20! I don't look that young, screw that guy. I can't believe this. The nerve..
