Hello, I am reaching out to you today with great hesitation, but I find myself in a situation where I have no choice but to ask for your help. My mother is ill, and I am unable to meet her basic needs due to my current circumstances. Sharing my story will not only help me care for my mother but also enable me to continue my educational and professional journey, so I can achieve the stability I strive for to support my family. Any contribution, no matter how small, will make a significant difference in our lives.

I need to practice freehanding + working with references, because fun fact about me, my mental library is fuelled by neurodivergence, but I feel a need to practice working from other angles ie. from visible references (the references usually live inside my head). I also drew it on one layer only + didn't undo anything (eraser was a-okay!) because I need to stop being afraid of mistakes and just smash it out ykyk
note: the clean one is multi-layers because I took a bit of a confidence hit and needed to remind myself I can do art hahaha
Feeling like goncharov... not enough time..
What's a citizen science project? Basically, it's crowdsourced science. In this case, crowdsourced climate science, that you can help with!
You don't need qualifications or any training besides the slideshow at the start of a project. There are a lot of things that humans can do way better than machines can, even with only minimal training, that are vital to science - especially digitizing records and building searchable databases
Like labeling trees in aerial photos so that scientists have better datasets to use for restoration.
Or counting cells in fossilized plants to track the impacts of climate change.
Or digitizing old atmospheric data to help scientists track the warming effects of El Niño.
Or counting penguins to help scientists better protect them.
Those are all on one of the most prominent citizen science platforms, called Zooniverse, but there are a ton of others, too.
Oh, and btw, you don't have to worry about messing up, because several people see each image. Studies show that if you pool the opinions of however many regular people (different by field), it matches the accuracy rate of a trained scientist in the field.

I spent a lot of time doing this when I was really badly injured and housebound, and it was so good for me to be able to HELP and DO SOMETHING, even when I was in too much pain to leave my bed. So if you are chronically ill/disabled/for whatever reason can't participate or volunteer for things in person, I highly highly recommend.
Wanted to do a Nox for valentines too! here she is!!

I'm moving from here since it's actually a sideblog for my spam, and didn't realise I wouldn't be able to like. Use it at all. 🫡
Feel a bit bad leaving it behind to make a main blog, but I'll leave it open and up (at least for now) and probably just reblog some of the arts I loved most 🙏🤝 it's going to be a process to move over, but it'll be worth it. Better late than never!
