Its Canon. I've decided it's Canon so therefore it is. /j

headcanon that grover and percy are just completely incapable of arguing. might as well be canon too, cause like everytime in the books there's some conflict, it just goes like this:

percy: *narrating* i am so annoyed at grover. i am literally shaking with anger right now. I don't wanna talk to him 😠

grover: *sad brown eyes* sorry, percy 🄺

percy: .....

percy: what are you SAYING, it's all MY fault for getting mad 🄺 what is WRONG with me i'm so stupid please give me a hug 😭 you did nothing wrong ā¤ļø

I'm crying like obviously we know Percy's powerful but this show has held back in the fight scenes so him threatening Ares is. SO funny. baby you've got nothing to back that up. you're just a yappy little baby chihuahua right now.

did the show just delete the fact that percy was a wanted criminal in the entirety of the lightning thief? gabe gave an interview, blaming percy for sally's dissappearence, which made him the primary suspect. like the police was after him when they blew up the bus and his iconic 'my stepdad is a really sweet person' speech to a journalist after jumping from saint monica arc, people conspiring that they were manipulated into a t*rrorist group after his fight with ares. like????? where's all that?? where's the good stuff???

one thing that drives me absolutely insane is that ive seen so many comments talking about how tvpjo!annabeth isnt their annabeth bc shes not tan and blonde but i dont see people complaining about literally anyone else!! there are SO FEW characters if at all that stay faithful to their book descriptions! luke isnt a blonde guy, percy doesnt have black hair and green eyes, grover doesnt have a rasta cap on, chirons horse end is black not white, echidna is NOTTT supposed to be a conventionally attractive older woman i could keep GOING.

at the end of the day these people are portraying these characters essences incredibly, and this tv series is by far one of the best adaptations ive ever seen of any popular book. to take that for granted and complain because of different hair and skin, especially singling out ONE twelve year old girl is so childish and frankly! disgusting.

You know what I was thinking about when Luke told Percy how you burn what you'll miss most to talk to the gods and then Percy offered his blue candy because that's what he'll miss most? I had initially assumed he'd talk to Poseidon and maybe blame him but then he was talking go Sally and I was like, how dumb of me, he's talking to the stronger one, lmao

Yes, so beautiful, something I haven't seen anyone mention and maybe I'm remembering wrong is that if percy calls him Kronos he's giving him more power even if he doesn't know it. So even if sally and percy don't know calling them by name gives them power (which I feel like sally would cause she's awesome) wouldn't be better for percy to call him grandpa.

Percy going "Grandpa (derogatory)" about Kronos

That was beautiful

happy birthday to walker scobell–our perfect percy jackson!! the sensitivity, goofiness, sarcasm and emotion he brings to the screen has been a joy to watch and he embodies percy in all the ways that matter. i can tell he is going to have a long and prosperous acting career but hope he stays happy and healthy throughout! he’s only 15 and the journey’s just begun!!

Tiny 12 y/o percy, standing in the lake, wounded and exhausted after a game he knew nothing about, a game he spent stumbling around till he reached the lake shore, the subtle show of his fighting getting better near the water.

Tiny 12 y/o percy confused more than ever, looking up at the glowing trident, backdropped by the vast lake and the mountain range behind him, getting claimed by one of the most powerful gods, ruler of the seas and agent of chaos, a forbidden child. Reading this moment as a child who so painfully related to him was like, Ha! See? How dare you call him a loser! He's going to be the most powerful demigod, meant for all the glory!!

But watching this as an adult is like. Have you ever bitten off more than you can chew? Have you ever been part of a legacy you never wanted? Have you ever been drop kicked into a high pressure situation that can alter your life completely, With little to no guidance? Have you ever been subject to trauma simply because of who you are?

That's no glory. That's the world expecting too much from someone who's been told too little. Someone who's been made to feel too little. That is the story of someone who hasn't prepared enough, hasn't lived enough and hasn't experienced enough, being forced to handle the weight of the world too soon.

Idk but the idea that Percy was scared of learning to swim itches something in my brain.

Like there's so much emphasis on who a camper's godly parent is, what their demigod talents are, pleasing their godly parents, like their godliness is always emphasized, their closeness to divinity is a very big literary theme. And it's beautiful, amazing writing but we tend to forget that being a demigod means that theyre part human too. They are mortal, they have fears, flaws, etc. and here we see a very human Percy terrified of the water when he is meant to be the water. He's the son of the god of the sea but he is also a little boy, the son of a human woman.

And then, the rest of the series is Percy learning how to cope with his divinity or his proximity to. Which is a beautiful parallel to how Annabeth is learning to be human, to let go of her perfectionism and just be human, just be a young girl. (Which is a whole other thing I could write about)

I think we forget that as much as Percy is the son of a god and is a strong, sassy, amazing character, he is also a human and a human child at that.

Luke's monologue hits so much harder since they spent literally the whole season emphasizing how unfair and neglectful the gods are. Like he doesn't seem as much of a villain as he did in the book?! AND they had Annabeth listening in?! All I can hear is Luke's voice echoing "she's my little sister..." in my head over and over and over and I want to curl up into a ball and die.

ā€œPercy’s specialā€

Oh I’m not gonna make it.

Seeing this kind of bullying in tv (actual realistic bullying, most people won’t like, push you and hit you or anything, since that way they’ll get caught, so they keep it simple and nobody does anything because they don’t see it as bullying) just took me back to school and holy shit. The way Nancy Bobofit pronounces the word special, like if it was disgusting, I think that’s very important representation. Because we know Percy has adhd, of course we know, but in the later books this fact has been pushed aside. Rick doesn’t really add much adhd traits and struggles in his books compared to in his first book. And meanwhile I knew about Percy’s time in school, seeing it is so so different and it’s not often bullying is shown this way and seeing a story of a bullied character, who’s deemed weird and ā€œspecialā€ who then goes and saves the world and has lots of friends and a romantic partner, that’s really important for kids. For kids and for me. I’ll shut up I’m sorry I just have lots of feelings about it like I get it percy, I get it.

do you hate annabeth because she's black now??

Hate book Annabeth? Sometimes, but not entirely, though, I dislike her character portrayal later in the books.

Hate Show Annabeth? Not in this lifetime, she has managed to make Annabeth likable by toning down her sheer aggressiveness towards Percy that she has on the whole first two books and I think we can all agree that Leah has nailed the essence of Annabeth before the show ruined it that is.

(I won't even address your titular question because it's so absurd and of literally no significance to the whole thing.)

Have they butchered her character arc in the show? Absolutely. They made her borderline cold and detached from emotions and removed from things of normal world. Annabeth's problem has never been her lack of sentiment or normalcy or her cold demeanor. She is one of the most empathizing characters in the books because she is so flawed and so human, and the show has literally ripped that from her in an attempt of female empowerment and other bullshit as if Annabeth chase of all people needs female empowerment .

Do I hate Show? Absolutely.

I think it must be some sort of universal rule that you either get great books or great movies/shows, but you can't have both.

Cause the actors are spot on, but they have butchered the show utterly and completely like there's not enough words for the amount of things wrong with it.

And don't even get me started on visual effects for monsters and stuff cause even the movie had better visual effects .

The only redeemable part about the show is the Posally backstory and the take on Medusa.

And that's all I have to say over this whole mess .

Gonna have to start a counter for how many times Percy falls on his ass. Only two episodes in and he spent about 10 minutes each just falling down

My favorite thing about this new PJO trailer has to be the shots of the collective campers. I think one of the biggest problems with the movies casting older actors, is that it was harder to understand the actual moral conflict. You watch the movie and think, ā€œoh these guys are like 20, they can battle it outā€ and it’s just another run of the mill ā€œI’m mad at my dadā€ villain. When casting younger actors throughout, it hits so much harder that the people that these immortal gods have chosen to fight their battles, to die for them, are children. In the first shot of Clarisse, there’s kids with their first-day-of-middle-school new glasses frames. Kids in the trees crouching in their matching t shirts. And a child holding a battle axe. The appropriate aging is gonna make the whole series a lot more disturbing at times and one of the main villains a lot more compelling

the big three and their mantras

grover i'll-be-here-when-you-get-back underwood

percy it's-okay-we're-okay jackson

annabeth you-can-do-this chase

something about fate taking the boy who has spent most of his life battling the lurking feeling that the people closest to him want to get rid of him, and giving him the most loyal and reassuring best friend who always tells him "I'll be here when you get back" giving him assurance that he's not going anywhere, especially not going anywhere from him.

something about fate making soulmates out of a girl who could only depend on herself from a very young age, who also had the responsibility of her brothers' and sisters' safety to think about, and a boy who takes care of her even at the risk of his own life, with the reassurance, that no one else has ever thought to offer "it's okay".

something about fate forcing together a boy who has been labelled a troubled kid, stupid, a failure, screw-up and a reject by almost every other person in his life, and a girl who never lets him doubt himself, his mind or his abilities, who constantly tells him "you can do this" with no misgivings about his greatness even when he doesn't see it.

something about fate connecting the souls of the boy who has never felt good enough, who has internalized guilt from an outcome he had little control over and carries it with him everywhere he goes, giving him feelings of worthlessness, and a boy who has never believed that faults or mistakes make you any less worthy of love or friendship, who has never hesitated to assure him that "it's okay, we're okay".

something about fate making lifelong ride-or-dies out of a girl who has been abandoned by everyone who should have protected her and a boy who always encourages her to go out into the world and make a difference with the constant reassurance "I'll be here when you get back".

something about fate linking a boy who always assumes that if something has gone wrong, it's his fault, who has zero confidence in himself not to ruin everything but still shoulders the weight of responsibility, and a girl who doesn't waver in her confidence in him, even when she's seen him fail and make mistakes she always tells him "you can do this" she knows he just needs a little faith.
