one of the most important things about r. line's character is that she is a coward. it is the baseline of nearly all her actions. not in necessarily a critical way, she just is. her mind is stuck as one of a scared child who sees everything as a threat because she cannot place her trust in anybody but her own salvation, and so she creates distance between that which she cannot control, usually by throwing whoever dares to get close to her under the bus. she hides her fear behind cruelty and indifference and apathy and power. she runs from the guilt of what was never her fault, in the process committing actions where the blame truly is on her. a twisted self-fulfilling prophecy. a moth that is ripped from her cocoon to find a world that is all wrong, and mangles herself contorting her body back into the shell of a life that no longer fits her, emerging all the more broken and alone for it. operating in the present, living in the past, with an eye for nothing but the future
