The subject of Professor Layton “copycats” came up in conversation last night, so I gathered up the three examples that I know of off the top of my head.

May’s Mysteries and Doctor Lautrec are the two that most clearly borrow from Layton’s presentation, gameplay, and overall tone, setting, and theme.  Rhythm Thief is the most loosely connected of these three, with rhythm minigames!  And yet, it always struck me as very “Laytonesque.”
