"Arajin doesn't care about anyone"
The thing people don't get is that Arajin doesn't HAVE to care about others, about strangers. They're not his friends. They're nobody important to him. They're random men who want him in their gangs -- gangs that Arajin only got involved with because he wanted to impress a girl he liked and wanted to be her friend. Even then, Arajin doesn't show he doesn't care when others get physically hurt?? He gets freaked out, he doesn't like fights, he found Outa beat up and bloody and screamed for his life lol. He caught Matakara so he wouldn't fall and get hurt, then pressed a cold handkerchief to his forehead. He's trying and failing to distance himself from these men and their gangs.
The only person who he considers a friend (Mahoro) never got hurt, and yet just a simple threat of her being a trophy girl got him really defensive and angry. Which is why I believe that he's not the same as he was when he was a child... I don't think he realized yet that he's gotten less cowardly. He throws punches easier, because Senya was there in support, Senya kind of helped him become less of a coward. But he punched that dude without asking for Senya's help, in a pure rush of anger (then immediately got sick when he realized what happened lol), which is something he would've never done before. When Matakara got bullied, Arajin ran away. This time he stood his ground and punched first.
Also, he has no real friends, the only person who used to be his friend is getting rejected because Arajin is filled with guilt and avoids him. He doesn't want to be in gangs or fight, he wants to experience a highschool romance story with a cute girl lol
So of course he doesn't care about random gangs ?! Those aren't his friends, he never wanted to be involved in fighting, bloody stuff, anything like that. Its annoying to see people shade him for... being "self centered"? He's surrounded by strangers who just wanna fight and he doesn't wanna die lol. I think Arajin trying to avoid that life is the most normal thing anyone in that anime did lol

I'll go in order of character (art) so-
Ralph: After getting home from the island, his parents (more likely just his mom) immediately enrolled him in a military or private school and started kinda smothering him to keep him safe. Now, in his adulthood, he's living a sort-of normal life but he is still dealing with all of the trauma and stuff from the island and his childhood in general (I mean, these kids all spent their early teen years in the midst of a war. That's scary as hell). He either lives alone in a house his parents bought him or he lives in an apartment with some random ass roommates he barely knows. Lol
Jack: Catholic priest and head of the local Church's adult choir (are these things that someone can be at the same time? Idk just pretend). His whole life basically revolves around Church at this point as it's one of his only escapes from "real life". His "real life" mostly consists of putting up with his friend's crap and trying to find his place in the world. After the island, he's been trying his best to better, he really is, but he's still the same manipulative and easily-annoyed kid at heart. But hes doing his best!! :) (dear Catholics of Tumblr please correct me on anything I get wrong with him 🙏 I'm LDS so I dont know much about Catholicism lol (I will do research though!!))
Roger: You know when you go out in public and theres like at least one guy all in black and leather and you try to ignore him but cant because you're scared of him? Roger's totally that guy. He isnt all too rude to random people but he's very quiet and he keeps to himself (especially in public). He doesnt really go to Chuorch anymore but he's still Jack's #1 fan boy. He's sort of in contact with Maurice but they aren't the friends they used to be. After the island, Roger probably went home and his parents tried to help him out with his mental state and all that but whatever they were doing didnt help too much and he's still basically the same way he was before the island. He's probably more quiet than before though.
Maurice: Probably just some normal dude. He's an accountant, he has two daughters and a wife, he goes to Church on sundays. He's just a normal guy basically. He probably named his kids something like Maureen and Nancy (they're so twins and they're around 12 or so? Maybe younger idk). He's still good friends with Jack and they both have a lot of respect for eachother. He doesn't talk to Roger much, maybe a couple times a month, and he's sorta scared of him but he doesnt mind him all too much. Like, if he saw him in public (uhhh let's just say at a McDonalds) he'd probably go up to him and try to come up with conversation but like.. Roger's eating and quiet so he isnt saying anything so Maurice just kinda leaves. Idk lol. Maurice is a fun guy I like him. He probably likes parties.
I havent drawn them yet and they probably look the same and are similar so uhhh
Samneric: They probably both have normal enough lives. Similarly to Maurice, they probably just live in nice houses with their kids and whatever. They're still basically inseparable though and they can still do the whole "twin telepathy" thing XD. Very random addition but they sorta remind me of the triplets from Boss Baby lol (even though Samneric are twins and the triplets are... triplets). I dont know what else to say about them.
