Might Be Wrong Abt Some Things - Blog Posts

I think Ena might be a better fit to be Mafuyu’s savior compared to Kanade.

Kanamafu is actually toxic, what with Kanade’s savior complex making her neglect her own needs and Kanade focusing too much on saving Mafuyu with her music giving her tunnel vision. Though it’s not a permanent solution, Mafuyu running away is actually good for her because it gives her the breather she needs. Kanade was not the one to suggest her running away, instead it was Mizuki. Kanade’s character, to me, feels like she sees Mafuyu as this helpless damsel in distress, controlled by her mother, and that she must be this shining knight to come save her.

Kanade and Mafumom carries a lot of parallels, more than this fandom would like to admit. Both of them thinking they’re ‘helping’ Mafuyu, wanting the best for her. Despite their intentions, their actions are obviously not the best for Mafuyu. The thing about this is that both Kanade and Mafuyu need to get better before they can truly have a healthy relationship.

Why do I believe Ena is the best option for Mafuyu getting saved?

First of all, I don’t think Kanade should be the one to ‘save’ Mafuyu at all. Validating her savior complex and letting her think she was able to ‘save’ Mafuyu would lead to her finding other characters and trying to save them as well, that she was able to ‘save’ Mafuyu so why couldn’t she ‘save’ others?

Second of all, Ena’s whole theme of ‘art’ and being able to capture the inner beauty makes her the perfect candidate to being the one to lure out Mafuyu’s “true feelings”. It would be a great converging points for two characters who, so far, have been portrayed as opposites. One having talent and no passion, one having passion and no talent. One being unable to understand their own feelings to the point of not being able to feel, one feeling everything so fully with their entire beings.

This is my own personal opinion and I might be biased, might’ve also gotten a few things wrong bc I haven’t gotten to reread all of Kanade’s stories, but this is generally what I feel about Kanamafu as a whole.
