one thing that’s so important to me and is the fact that originally in The Nightman Cometh, Mac was supposed to be Dayman
like if we’re accepting that the Nightman is at the very least a representation of Charlie’s stresses and discomforts from his life, much less a pretty accurate 1to1 from a specific person, then the idea that Dayman, who fights off the Nightman, who is a master of karate and friendship, was supposed to be portrayed by Mac, who is Charlie’s oldest friend, genuinely makes my heart ache

mac's love for dogs, who are seen as companions and often deemed "a man's best friend", contrasting his parents' physical and emotional absences in his childhood vs. charlie's love for cats, who are typically solitary creatures, contrasting bonnie's overbearing parenting that suffocated him.

so mac was known as ronnie the rat in high school and in "Mac Kills His Dad" even his parents know him to be a rat and specifically tell him NOT to be one. what if it was mac who ratted out his dad, not even on purpose just by saying the wrong thing and never knowing when to shut up, and that's why luther got sent to prison. and that's what ruined his relationship with his parents forever (not that it was a loving healthy relationship to begin with but from the christmas episode we know it had its nice moments that mac latches on to as proof that his parents love him). anyways that's just a theory #mytheories
after mac comes out he starts watching rupaul's drag race cause he's a gay man and gay men like drag but very quickly he realizes he's not interested (he was into the pit crew tho) so he stops but dennis who had been lowkey watching whenever it was on screen WAS into it so he starts watching it by himself and that's how you get dennis yelling at the screen during the lip synchs for your life cause the queen he's supporting isn't serving enough cunt
i see so much toxic dennis content but can we talk about toxic mac. obviously mac’s trauma runs so deep and there is absolutely nothing wrong with being closeted but i’m just saying. imagine being in a 20 year long codependent, semi-sexual relationship with your roommate and after all that time he STILL refuses to admit he’s gay. he hates that part of himself so much. but the person he’s really denying is…. dennis! can’t imagine it feels good to build an entire life with someone just for them to call said ‘lifestyle’ a sin over and over again for years on end. that’s gotta sting a little bit! is all i’m saying!

i’m not saying this is healthy or good, but i do think there’s something comforting to mac about having someone like dennis in his life who “hates him” and still talks to him, lives with him, shares a bed with him, etc. it’s so unlike his parents who mostly just ignore him no matter what he does
The greatest proof of Macdennis canon isn't all the psychosexual shit the two of them have going on, but the fact that Dee and Mac's relationship is best characterised as "siblings-in-law"

dee – @/jokesondee. she just like. cannot let it go. maybe one day her comedy will get rlly popular and this username will make sense to normal people... but probably not.
mac – either @/macmcdonald or something absolutely ridiculous like @/badass.ass.kicker. but his first username was @/jesusjackedme. he had to change it because dennis was like, "dude, this sounds like ur saying jesus jacked u off!" "no dude! thats disgusting! jesus jacked me UP, spiritually, physically and mentally!"
charlie – charlie doesn't use social media. he can't read or write much less TYPE and its just overall too confusing. however the gang tried to set something up for him and just asked him what username he wanted. he picked @/nightmancometh and never used his accounts a single time.
frank – @/richdaddy69. he bought this username. he also pays for verification!

New Macdennis fic, yippee!! It’s a little fan episode afcdibiebe I had a lot of fun with this one <3. I love writing in script format, it almost feels more intuitive than normal prose. I really wanna be a screenwriter someday. But for now, I have to put my talents into making toxic yaoi fanfiction :D.

it is so sickening to think about mac's desperation to be loved and how the neediness that radiates from him is ultimately what inhibits him from forming healthy relationships.. the gang is so tired of him constantly questioning his self-worth ("you guys like me, right?") that they've given up on giving him any attention whatsoever ("it's really a cry for [...] attention, [...] ignore those" / "treat it like a baby / "we don't like you either way"). he needs validation but seeks it in a manner that is so off-putting that nobody wants him around. he writers letters to chase utley. he visits his mom and dad, even though they never want to see him. he threatens suicide as a cry for help and is encouraged to follow through. self-worth is in the body, so why doesn't anyone care that he's been working out? he smothers his dog with affection but can't even get it to stay.
If I ever have a child I will accept them no matter what. If they're Gay, Trans, Neurodivergent, even if they want to convert to a different religion unless they're gonna be a protestant then I'm kicking them the fuck out!!!,!!!.!.!!.!
