I think Rory, Dean, Paris and Jess should all date.

I’m gonna say something very controversial

Jess is uncomfortable around Lorelei because he notices that it’s weird how pro-Dean she is. He’s uncomfortable because he recognizes signs of parentification in Rory.

I’m just saying:

How often do you meet a teenager who is ridiculously obsessed with going off to college and always has been unless they’re running from something? If anything he could have been cagey around Lorelei cause he was waiting to see if the abuse was worse.

He knows how much Rory eats. He knows that the Gilmore’s have food insecurity. He brings over a giant box of food because he’s gone hungry before and he wants to make sure she’s fed until her mom gets home.

i love it when a character is so clueless but simultaneously uncomfortably aware of everything

Xavier and Jess have complicated relationships with their fathers. Xavier’s dad isn’t emotionally available and Jess’s dad left him when he was a kid and moved to another state

They’re both the brooding brunette type. However; Xavier is a brooding tortured artist while Jess is a brooding tortured reader and writer

Both HATE their love interest’s first “boyfriend”. Xavier hates Tyler because of outreach day and Jess hates Dean just because he’s Dean

They both say out of pocket things when they’re mad

Also, just imagine Xavier bringing you food from the local diner because he knew you were going to be alone that night and stayed with you to eat together.

Imagine Xavier writing notes in the margin of your favorite book and you two compare notes of the books you’ve recommended to each other.

Imagine having movie dates every weekend where one person picks the movie and the other person picks what food they eat and every weekend they take turns.

Imagine Xavier getting a black eye because of a swan but he was too embarrassed to tell you so him and Ajax went to the lake to find the swan that beaked his eye 😂 it was a really funny scene between Luke and Jess, that’s for sure.

Imagine Xavier looking up the distance from Jericho to wherever you want to go to college.

Imagine Xavier’s love language being physical touch, always having his arm around you, holding your hand, kissing you, so cute.

Jess Mariano has some issues but you can’t tell me that Xavier wouldn’t do the positive things Jess has done with Rory

JESS MARIANO (MODERN AU) : spent his birthday money on a Bluetooth headphones because his old wired ones only worked when you twisted the wire a certain way and he wasn’t messing with that.

DAIKI AOMINE : got his ears pierced after he slept with a girl who said that guys with piercings were super hot but aomine would never admit that getting his ears pierced hurt like a mother fucker.

KOSHI SUGAWARA : when teacher suga is talking to his class about why it’s important to keep trying no matter how hard it gets he always uses tanaka and kiyoko as an example. “one of my friends kept getting turned down by the woman of his dreams and now they’re married! do you know why boys and girls? because he never gave up and he always tried his best to impress her and be the best version of him he could be!”

JASON TODD : loves when his friends cancel plans. like he’s ready to go and his friend calls saying that they can’t make it and he’s all “really? what a shame..guess we’ll have to reschedule!” as he’s putting his pajamas back on and putting on a face mask and like lighting his little scented candles.

ARAN OJIRO + MIYA TWINS : before aran’s first day as a second year he found out the weird twins from volleyball camp were also going to his school as first years and had a mental breakdown like he was crying so bad “mom please! they’re so weird!” but when the twins found out aran went to their school too they were so excited because he was the only upperclassmen they liked and knew at the time.

TETSURO KUROO + KENMA KOZUME : after the first tokyo training camp with like fukurodani and the other schools kuroo was soo pissed off with kenma because outside of club time kenma would never ever talk about volleyball or other players but after the training camp all he could talk about was “oh-shoyo just text they beat seijoh and they’re going on to play shiratorizawa..” or “shoyo just sent over karasunos training regimen..” or like “shoyo hasn’t text me in a week I wonder if he’s okay?” LIKE KUROO WAS SO PISSED! He was all “so how’s your new best friend shoyo?” and he’d be so snarky and petty about it too 😭😭

BRUCE WAYNE + BAT FAM : bruce has a different playlist for each of his kids. like there’s one for everyone even alfred. but he would never let anyone know that he secretly likes a few of the songs and makes his own playlist. like his music taste is a combination of all of kids music tastes. i just know that he lowkey vibes with chapell roan.

ATSUSHI MURASAKIBARA : his mother fucker is so fucking picky when it comes to like proper meals. when he’s snacking on random stuff he doesn’t care at all he’ll eat whatever. but when it’s a sit down proper meal? he’s a whiny picky bitch. “ew his broccolis gross and limp..can’t I have a bag of chips instead?”

KEN SATO : he’s such like a baseball nerd. he collects those little card things with baseball players on and when he meets them he asks them to sign it and he gets like so excited when there’s one he doesn’t have. “mina could you please put this one with the signed cards-and make sure you put it in the protective plastic okay?” “yes ken i’ll be very careful”

RIN MATSUOKA : rin could care less about sweets and candies so he never understood why gou or his friends would beg him to get bring them back some sweets from australia. until he had a tim tam milkshake.he was hooked. every day after school rin would go swim and go straight to his nearest cafe or diner and grab a tim tam milkshake (a/n as someone who has enjoyed many a tim tam milkshake this is so real)

TADASHI YAMAGUCHI + TSUKISHIMA KEI : yamaguchi’s VA once said that the only reason yamaguchi ‘s favorite food is soft fries is because tsukki eats all the crispy fries and gives his left overs o yamaguchi 😭😭

LOGAN HUNTZBERGER : got drunk and almost got a Jacobs ladder piercing but then got told what it was and broke down crying because he said he didn’t want to “damage the goods”

I have this weird theory that all Jess needed to do to secure his and Rory’s relationship was to meet Christopher. Like Logan met Christopher and he thought Logan was cool and they got along great and he accepted the relationship (same with Dean). I feel like is Chris had met Jess and seen what this person had described maybe he would’ve helped Lorelai see how Jess wasn’t all that bad. Like when Rory moved in with Logan Chris told Lorelai and she seemed cool with it partly because she trusted Rory to tell her and she was cool with Logan but partly because Chris was cool with Logan too. I feel like if Chris had met Jess seen him he kinds of situations he’d been in , his mom, his life what he’d been through Chris would’ve said to Lorelai “Hey I like this kid, he’s been through a lot , you guys are kind of similar and Rory likes him too.” I feel like if Lorelai had seen the Jess Rory saw she wouldn’t have been to hard on him and that would’ve made Jess and Rory’s relationship easier/ better.

jess mariano and rory gilmore are literally the SAME people at their core, just in opposite fonts. they MIRROR each other and are each other's TWIN FLAMES. that's exactly why they understand each other better than everyone else (asp herself said so). both are raised by teen moms and have deadbeat dads. yet, one is nurtured with love and care with a mom like lorelai. and the other is abandoned & ignored by a flaky mom like liz. both develop an immense love for reading regardless of whether it became kind of a coping mechanism. both exceed normal expectations of intelligence required for their age. hence, one goes above and beyond, strives for perfection with it, and craves validation while the other could not care less what people think and says "fuck it. rules don't matter anymore for me. i know stuff". one becomes stars hollow's princess, held onto a pedestal by everyone around her. the other becomes stars hollow's pariah, hated by every person he meets. both are under intense scrutiny by people where one is held to exceptionally high standards and the other is seen as "good for nothing". both of them break out of those respective moulds as soon as they become young adults. and both play a pivotal role in helping each other break out of those moulds and still be true to their inner selfs. I COULD WRITE AN ENTIRE TEN-PAGE ESSAY ON THE PARALLELS BETWEEN THEM....I REALLY COULD!

i just finished gilmore girls (im obsessed) and i need to put these thoughts somewhere, so here you go.

everyone is always talking about rory's bfs, and im team logan 100%. i think he was the best to and for her. he was an amazing boyfriend and, while he had his flaws, i think he was definitely better than both jess and dean. that being said, if i had to pick a favorite character, jess is high on the list. i prefer his character to logan's. and i think it's because his character exists outside of just being rory's bf.

both dean and logan exist in the show solely to be a part of rory's story. all of the character growth they experience either affects or is affected by her. if a person asked "who is dean/logan?", the answer would be "rory's bf"

jess came into the show not as her love interest, but as luke's nephew. we see him do things that have nothing to do with rory. he is his own character away from her. he is liz's son. he is a top notch walmart employee. he is the troublemaker who drew a chalk body outline on the sidewalk outside of doose's. he's the boy who ran away from stars hollow to go find his father in california. he completely changes as a person from the start to the end of the show, and he made those changes on his own, away from rory. does this make any sense?

(this is not at all a rory hate post, i love her and her character. this is simply a jess appreciation)
