My legitimate surname is Merlin and I‘ve been wondering where it comes from for ages (I‘m not from the UK or france) and the whole thing just got more mysterious to me once I realized the mythological wizard isn‘t even named that, but Myrddin instead.
Maybe I‘ll do a DNA test at some point? At least my surname got me really invested in the arthurian legend and celtic mythology in general, which is a nice niche interest to have.

on the way to see family, i drive past a lake that in which is welsh legend, is the last resting place of excalibur.
i’m just saying in my experience a lot of these legends had been so anglo-fied in the past and it’s like, all this cool shit is celtic welsh legend.

One of your closest friends still and really the only one you talk to after the band’s split. She’s one of the sweetest people you’ll ever meet, and between all of you, the one with the most common sense. Which is why she’s very reluctant to go along with the entire “deal” in the first place.
Daniel Mercer, M, He/Him, 35, Bassist
Despite the fact that he’s not actually as talented as the other members of the band, he definitely has the biggest ego out of everyone. Add the fact that he can be quite hot headed, and he becomes one of the most annoying people on the planet. He didn’t really end on the best of terms with the rest of you after the band split, but because he’s just as desperate for attention as the rest of you, he’s back.
Farrow Marsone, NB, They/Them, 39, Manager
Your no-nonsense manager. Not here for this shit honestly. They’re the first and pretty much only one to explicitly tell you that this entire deal is shady, and will come back to bite you in the ass. However after some thinking, they begin to realize that they’ve been out of work for years and your success is their success.
Hannah Landoni, F, She/Her, 35, Guitarist
Though the success isn’t much, she’s the so called “breakout star” of the band. After the split, she’s the only one who’s made bit of a name for herself and at least a little bit known nowadays. Was very quick to distance herself from the rest of you once she rebranded. Once she heard about your plan, she really wasn’t on board with it, but even she can’t ignore the fact that the bit of spotlight that she does have is fading fast.
Ronin Sawyer, He/They, 33, Drummer
One chaotic little shit, and can be quite too much for some people. Constantly giving out himbo energy, and a bit clueless about what’s going on, but once they figure it out they’re all in for it. It’s reckless, impulsive, and it’s sure to cause a lot of chaos. How the hell could they say no to this?

What the Scabiosa Blooms is an 18+ interactive fiction.
You never know what lurks within the dark.
Death seems far more interested in lingering in the city of Aevum, than anywhere else, as for the past few months, people having been dying left and right and the local authorities have not a single clue who the killer is.
All they can find is a single scabiosa flower in full bloom left at the crime scene.
Of course, strange as the surge of dead is, the markings on the bodies that come to you that you need to ‘clean’ are bizarre in its own right. Some of these markings don’t look like your normal animal bite or simple ‘blade-to-flesh’ contact. It’s almost monstrous, but there’s no such thing as monsters…
Right?
Play as a male, female, or nonbinary mortician who is dragged into a series of murders in the city of Aevum.
Be dragged into the investigation by strangers who seem far more invested in this than the local police force. Not to mention, something about them seem… Strange.

WHERES OUR STEAMY ROMANCE?!?!???—
It is here, my darling dearest. The SATYA Society is rated 17+ for skippable suggestive/sexual scenes later on when everyone is of age. In the free version, you have 2 main romances you can pursue, one male and one female. With the paid version, your romantic interests jump from 2 to 7, with 2 polyamorous routes available within the cast. No romance paths are gender-locked, but some RO’s do have preferences, and will be easier to romance as certain genders. You can set how comfortable you are with physical affection, as well, which will stop/encourage characters to hug, kiss you etc.
HOW CUSTOMISABLE ARE WE?—
I’m gonna be honest, I was definitely thinking of gender-locking your character to make things (a lot) easier for me, and I’m still considering it. But for now, your name, gender and sexuality are completely customisable. You can customise your appearance, personality and even personalise your background before coming to Stonewell Academy. Your family is prewritten and can’t be changed, but you can decide your relationship with them, alongside everyone at the school. My goal with this book was to give y’all great replay value, and I believe I’ve done just that. You can experience two completely different stories with each play through.
HOW MUCH HAVE YOU EVEN DONE, YOU SEEM LIKE A DISORGANISED PRICK—
First of all, that’s rude. But I’ve almost finished writing everything. If you play as a male, Isaac will be your roommate! In the first act, and half of the second act, Isaac is dating Courtney Knight, who just so happens to be your other main romance option… 👀

Courtney Knight is not the girl next door. She is an aspiring clothing designer who is just about as entitled as they come. She manages to keep a close group of friends, however, so there must be more to her than just a catty somebody. Courtney expresses her love teasingly, rather than warmly like Isaac. (Maybe that’s why they don’t work out, haha). She is strong willed and very much an independent woman— sure, it takes a while to gain her trust, but you might have a valuable relationship with Courtney if you try hard enough. If you play as a female, Courtney is your roommate! In the first act, and half of the second act, she is dating Isaac Spence.

PAID VERSION:
Mary DeSmidt is quiet and inconsolable. Rumours float around the school about how such a sweet girl could get sent to the strictest standing reform school. She is the embodiment of kindness, and always willing to lend a helping hand to you. Mary is driven by emotions, and needs a bit more time than others to handle to growing change of life at a boarding school. She also takes a little more guidance when it comes to feelings, and has a more complex romance path than the others.

Harper Vale is… a mayfly. He knows everything about everyone, floats between all the social groups at Stonewell Academy and still somehow doesn’t have a best friend. Courtney tells you he is a compulsive liar, and is trying to ‘manipulate the faculty out of a full ride at Stonewell’, which explains the perfect grades and attendance rates… Harpers romance path is…shaky, to put it nicely.

Coen Day is hard to get to know. They’re always going off on their own, disappearing in the middle of class, not returning until night. Apparently their attendance rates are in the red, but Coen has always been known to run. Coen is quiet, sure, but they’re also loyal and smart. They would never share a secret of yours, or undermine your experiences and aspirations. Befriending Coen is a feat in itself, but one worth doing— Coen is the type of friend one needs at Stonewell. Coen is also asexual.

Priya Hammond is a burning fire, scorching everything in her path. She is loud, capable and Courtney’s all time best friend. Priya has been sent to detention for questioning a teacher’s moral standpoint more times than once, and is very politically inclined. She is truly gifted with her brains, but would much rather search the depths of the internet for trivial facts about a small town in Europe than study for school a moment longer than she has to. Bring up any topic around her, she will know something about it.

Laiken Allard-Rose arrives in the second act, and is Isaac’s childhood best friend. He is energy personified, always looking for an adventure to drag you along or a joke to crack at just the wrong time. Nothing is too daring for Laiken, and you’ll find that forming a friendship with him definitely includes him arriving at your window in the middle of the night to go on an adventure (raiding the school kitchens). Family is the most important thing to Laiken, and will do anything for you once you’re considered his family, whether romantically or platonically. ( i would play his romance route just to experience the dates he would take you on lol)

Laiken & Isaac. Who knew the childhood best friends that may have had heavy crushes on each other growing up would end up romantically inclined… dates with these two are a festival of laughter and love. Isaacs warm presence and Laikens exciting romantic inclination is the perfect combination, and I’m sure the boys could show enough love to you for a lifetime more.
Priya & Coen. These personalities somehow work perfectly when it comes to love. Priya and Coen can be romanced together to create the ultimate game night team… their smarts, Priya’s competitive nature and Coen’s strategical thinking?? Automatic win.

Tongue-eating Louse (Cymothoa exigua)
Distribution: Fairly widespread; found in the eastern Pacific, from the gulf of California down to the gulf of Guayaquil, Ecuador, as well as parts of the Atlantic; inhabits waters from 2 to 60 metres in depth.
Habitat: Inhabits waters from 2 to 60 metres in depth; adults live on or in the bodies of fish; juveniles swim freely in the water column.
Diet: Parasitic; feeds off its host's blood and mucus; hosts include snappers, grunts, drums and grunions.
Description: The tongue-eating louse is an ectoparasitic isopod. A juvenile louse swims in the water column until it encounters a suitable host and attaches itself to its gills—soon after this maturing into a male. As it grows, the male eventually becomes female and migrates through the gills to its host's mouth, where it will use a pair of sharp claws to sever the blood vessels leading to its tongue. Once the tongue falls off due to necrosis, the louse will attach itself to the tongue stub and functionally "become" the fish's tongue. Surprisingly, this actually causes little damage to the fish, though hosts carrying many parasites are often underweight.
Once a host dies, the tongue-eating louse will eventually detach itself from its tongue stub, but will remain clinging to the head or body of its dead host. This species is completely harmless to humans, though can occasionally be found in the mouth of commercial fish.

one thing i love about the bratz is that they took their education seriously and helped each other whenever one of them needed the help. nothing is more fabulous than being educated and ambitious. you can do anything you put your mind to. 
create a study schedule for yourself and limit your distractions, when it’s time to study put your phone away and remove anything that you know will serve as a distraction to you, give yourself breaks from here and there too!
create a vision board! cut and paste pictures of things you want for your future onto a poster board or be creative and draw and color everything out! this is a great reminder everyday for yourself if you put it somewhere you’ll be able to see whenever you wake up or a spot in your room that you’re always looking at for example. Cutie… patootie... agouti? You might know the capybara, but what about its distant cousin the red-rumped agouti (Dasyprocta leporina)? This wide-ranging mammal can be found in forests throughout northern South America including Colombia, Brazil, and Venezuela. Though smaller than its more famous relative, this hefty rodent can weigh up to 13 lbs (5.9 kg). It dines on a diet of fruit, nuts, and seeds. Like a squirrel, the agouti will bury surplus food to save for a later date. But sometimes this critter forgets to come back for its stash, spreading seeds throughout its habitat as a result.

cons4eva’s name is “symbols.”
let me explain.
in this panel, he introduces himself by name. of course, it’s written in a font that looks alien. but i came across the dwarven font in the dungeons and dragons player handbook and recognized it from this panel. i immediately had to translate his name because i was insanely curious and wanted to know for writing and roleplaying purposes (i had a short-lived cons4eva rp blog). so i went in search of the font.
i found the font, called davek, available here, installed it on my computer, and went about figuring out cons4eva’s name. i noted that the name in the panel was upside down, compared to the original font and made the changes necessary.
so, once all the flips were made so the font was the right direction, i put the font to a regular font and got “.slobmys” as a result. period included because it’s included in the original text as well.
HOWEVER.
because i had done all that flipping, including the fact that the name was now “backwards” for the original name, we can put “.slobmys” backwards and get the name “symbols.”
whether this was intentional from either jro or the letterer, chris mowry, i don’t know, i’ve never asked, but i thought it was kind of cool that cons4eva’s name could be translated to an actual word and not nonsense, like some other times i’ve “translated” other text from primal vernacular. this was, as i said, mostly done for curiosity’s sake and fun, i just thought i’d share this little tidbit.
Honestly, to any fellow neurodivergents that struggle with doing tasks: have you tried doing the task intentionally badly?
I'm serious. I always used to struggle with getting schoolwork done on time. Then one day, out of a place of spite, I tried to write the shittiest assignment the teacher ever damn graded. (It was a stupid assignment.) Got fed up with the bit halfway through and began writing the assignment in earnest. This has helped me start shit halfway since.
Even if it doesn't work like that for other people, half-assed is better than not finished. Half ass cleaning? Guess what, the space is still cleaner.
If you are reading this, I encourage you to try that thing you are procrastinating on or struggling with using the minimum effort possible.

Where was the Jinx who tied Sevika up, hit her, and threatened to cut her other arm off just for an interrogation, then strung her upside down after she got her answer?
Where was the Jinx who smiled like a gleeful child while shooting at people and when told of all the enforcers she killed?
Where was the Jinx who, in rage and grief after losing Silco, fired a Hextech rocket directly at the Council while hearing his voice telling her to let them burn?
Where was the terrifying and threatening force of destruction I fell in love with? She appeared a little in Season 2 Act 1, then never again. Did Baby Yoda give her a personality transplant along with curing her mental illness?

Found this little crucifix in my sewing kit. It reads “I Am A Catholic In Case Of An Assident (disease/symptom) Notify A Priest”. It’s been in my sewing kit for years but I never read the back part until today. This also taught me a new word, so that’s also cool!
