Zephite is an interaction fiction where you play as a once revered High Reaper who was deeply connected with death, even by your species standards. With a unique ability, and a fractured soul, perhaps they were correct when they said it was only a matter of time before you fell. When you commit one of the highest offences of your kind, your abilities are sealed and you are banished from your home realm of Zephite to Earth.

But when the Fates are blinded, and the very fabric of reality begins to unravel, so does your carefully constructed façade of humanity.

There’s a monster out there and it’s far closer than you think. But the real question is…

Is it more dangerous than the one inside your head?

Two main branches, with one only being accessible to certain types of MC’s.

Team up with those you used to command to discover who’s attempting to destroy reality as we know it.

Find out why your supposedly human best friend can’t quite look you in the eyes these days.

Take some time to find comfort and support in your adoptive sibling, Kaleb, who followed you from Zephite, and your newly adopted puppy.

Fight the corruption that threatens to overwhelm you or let it consume you.

Fully customisable MC (including name, nickname, gender (cis, non-binary, transgender), pronouns, sexuality (including aro/ace), and appearance (true form and human form)).

Predetermined skills include a proficiency in combat and weapons. Other skills will be determined by the reader.

Option to romance one of seven ROs, or choose from two poly relationships. Rekindle meaningful friendships, and find your family of choice once more (or destroy them all completely). The Secret RO is only romancable on one branch.

But they weren’t always like this, before you left, Zep (perhaps ironically) valued life more than anything else and they looked up to you as a friend and role model, taking delight in making you laugh. These days, they shy from your touch…after all, your touch has always had the power to destroy them.

Apathetic would be the word used most to describe Maksim. To those outside their loved ones, their remarks are chilling and cut to the bone. When you were their commander, they would openly declare you as their favourite ‘patient’ and often left little notes around for you, reminding you to take care of yourself. Reunited again, you expect the biting words to be turned on you, but you are surprised to hear the softness in their voice that is still present when they speak to you.

A certified Gentle Giant, Fynn has a very doting nature, and those he loves could be forgiven anything. Unfortunately, due to Fynn’s height, people find him rather intimidating and tend to avoid him, which he struggles with as soft intimacy and love are hugely important to him. Although it’s rare to see, Fynn can be incredibly dangerous, he has a tendency to forget his own strength when he’s angry and will do serious damage if not kept in check. Once upon a time, you were the person that he went to for comfort, the person he trusted above all else. Now, as the second-in-command, Fynn is still sweet to you, but there’s a noticeable distance between you that he seems wary to let you cross.

Dancing With The Devil is my first interactive fiction, but it’s not my main story. It’s what I hope will be a stress reliever for when working on my other stories become a bit too much. Despite the fact that he’s not actually as talented as the other members of the band, he definitely has the biggest ego out of everyone. Add the fact that he can be quite hot headed, and he becomes one of the most annoying people on the planet. He didn’t really end on the best of terms with the rest of you after the band split, but because he’s just as desperate for attention as the rest of you, he’s back.

Farrow Marsone, NB, They/Them, 39, Manager

Your no-nonsense manager. Not here for this shit honestly. They’re the first and pretty much only one to explicitly tell you that this entire deal is shady, and will come back to bite you in the ass. However after some thinking, they begin to realize that they’ve been out of work for years and your success is their success.

Hannah Landoni, F, She/Her, 35, Guitarist

Though the success isn’t much, she’s the so called “breakout star” of the band. After the split, she’s the only one who’s made bit of a name for herself and at least a little bit known nowadays. Was very quick to distance herself from the rest of you once she rebranded. Once she heard about your plan, she really wasn’t on board with it, but even she can’t ignore the fact that the bit of spotlight that she does have is fading fast.

Ronin Sawyer, He/They, 33, Drummer

One chaotic little shit, and can be quite too much for some people. Constantly giving out himbo energy, and a bit clueless about what’s going on, but once they figure it out they’re all in for it. It’s reckless, impulsive, and it’s sure to cause a lot of chaos. How the hell could they say no to this?

You’re next…

It was among a thousand other comments— you had only seen it briefly in passing— but you couldn’t help the chill that wracked your spine because of it. Even through the screen you could feel the malicious air exuding from those words. The omniscient air clogging your lungs as you try to fight through the emotions that rise because of the message.

MODC is aimed for a 16+ audience and will be predominantly a character-driven game. It will tackle some slightly dark themes, but I'm aiming for it to be a light hearted read for the most part. Some of the themes in MODC will include found family, friendship, love, second chances and finding ones' self.

Zorlok is an interactive fiction story following the bizarre misadventures of a demon with no memories and the nerdy high schooler they're bound to serve. Uncover mysteries and cause mayhem in this dark comedy about monsters and found family.

The demo will be released on May 13th, 2022.

Content Warning: The game and this blog are rated 17+. Specific CWs will be updated as the game progresses, but Zorlok will contain swearing, alcohol and drug use, sexually suggestive content, violence, religious themes, and death.

You were a terrifying demon who wielded hellfire, fought angels, and corrupted souls (or some other shit like that), but that version of you vanished the night you made your deal with Tommy, a nerdy high schooler who was willing to sell his soul if you helped him become "cool."

That should have been easy. Right? Just pop him in front of a box fan for a few minutes, take his soul, and be on your merry way in under half an hour. But, no! That little shit had the nerve to tell you to forget your past and adopt the name Zorlok - the name of the demon his D&D character made a pact with.

So, now you're "Zorlok" and you have no idea who or what the Hell you really are. You know you're a demon, but that's it. You don't know how or why you became a demon, how to use your infernal powers, you aren't even sure how these deals are supposed to work. You tried the fan thing and nothing happened, but maybe there's some trick to stealing souls you haven't figured out yet. Until then, you're gonna have to do this the hard way.

And as if that wasn't enough, since Tommy realized monsters and magic are real too, he somehow got you involved with a mosnter hunter connected to the local Fay Council. Now you're on a team with two random humans protecting the city from feral beasts, investigating strange deaths, and fighting some "great evil." Whatever. It's better than doing Tommy's math homework.

Tommy Osorio

Tommy is the 15 year-old who trapped you in this pact and then forced you to forget your past. You will get his soul if you help him become the coolest kid at his high school, but your starting to wonder if that's an impossible task. Tommy seems to think that becoming popular will make his former best friend, Jin, less embarrassed to hang out with him. It seems like he's just a kid looking for a friend, but that can't be it. The Tommy you see wouldn't have the sense to take away your identity. Either he's putting up a damn good façade or someone else told him what to do.

Tommy is a cisgender male. Your relationship with Tommy can go in several directions including remaining perfectly neutral, caring for and protecting him like a sibling, or seething with hatred and messing with him as much as you can.

Dev (RO)

The de facto leader of your monster hunting trio, Dev's a career criminal who's been entrenched in the supernatural world since xe got involved with a pixie mob over 10 years ago. You've heard that Dev became a member of the LAFC (the Los Angeles Fay Court) but don't know why xe would abandon that life and return to the small town xe grew up in. Maybe it has something to do with the magic eye xe keeps hidden under that eye patch?

Dev is gender selectable and can be cisgender nonbinary (xe/xem), cisgender male (he/him), or cisgender female (she/her). Dev is bisexual, grayromantic, and polyamorous.

E.J. (RO)

Dev's childhood friend, your new roommate, and a reluctant member of your monster hunting team. EJ is a human who was living a completely ordinary life unaware of magic's existence until you showed up at their door. However, strange, unexplained phenomena have plagued EJ for decades and their uncontrolled arcane powers have only grown more volatile since you moved in.

EJ is gender selectable and can be transgender nonbinary (they/them), cisgender male (he/him), or cisgender female (she/her). EJ is bisexual, biromantic, and monoamorous.

Adam / Eve Park (RO)

A talented, young detective who's dedicated to protecting the people of Casper from harm. Like most citizens, Park isn't aware of magic's existence, but they have their suspicions and realize that more's going on here than meets the eye. They also firmly - and somewhat correctly - believe that their former friend turned bitter rival, Dev, is somehow involved with the strange phenomena plaguing the city.

Ainsley

The leader of a rival monster hunting team, Ainsley is incredibly well-trained. Like, if you had to guess - which you don't but, you're bored - you'd guess she's ex-military. She also seems very warm and caring and based on the way she looks at you and Ciel, she doesn't seem to hold much prejudice against monstrous beings. All in all, she seems really nice. You're not sure how that makes you feel.

Lucía (RO)

A member of the rival monster hunting team, you haven't had much of a chance to interact with Lucía. From what you've heard, you think she's some kind of park ranger, which is impressive considering that the state park which borders Casper is "infested" with monsters. You wonder what kind of things she's seen out there and what keeps bringing her back to the forest.

Lucía is not gender selectable, she is a cisgender female who uses she/her or they/them pronouns. Lucía is homosexual, homoromantic, and monoamorous. She identifies as a lesbian and can only be romanced by female or nonbinary characters.

Ciel (RO)

The final member of the rival monster hunting team, Ciel is an enigma to you - an acerbic, reticent, goth enigma to be exact. At first glance Ciel appears human but when you really look at them you notice their pointed ears, yellow eyes, and short fangs. You aren't sure exactly what Ciel is, but you're 96% sure they're not human.

Ciel's gender can be customized. They are always cisgender nonbinary but can go by she/they or he/they pronouns and be either feminine or masculine in appearance. They're asexual (sex-positive), panromantic, and polyamorous.

There are several other main characters - including three more ROs ("The Celestial", Danny, and Rose) - who I won't discuss in detail at this time due to spoilers.

"The Celestial" is omnigender (ey/em). Ey is aromantic, pansexual, and polyamorous (and had some kind of relationship with Zorlok back when they were The Demon).

Danny is gender selectable - either transgender nonbinary (any but she/he), cisgender male (he/him), or cisgender female (she/her). They are demiromantic, demisexual, and polyamorous.

Rose is a cisgender male (he/him). Rose is homosexual, homoromantic, and monoamorous. He is only romanceable by male or nonbinary characters

Anastasia

The Slayer that came before you. An individual that doesn’t back down from a fight and has a spirit has fiery at the pits of hell. She doesn’t know when to quit and refuses to back down from a fight when it concerns the people she cares for. The only problem? She was supposed to be dead.

Appearance: Anastasia stands at around 6’0” with electric blue eyes and raven black hair. Her lightly tanned skin stands out against the usual black leather that she wears. Her athletic body honed from years of training/fighting. (Her hair falls to just over her shoulder blades in soft waves.)

Oliver

One of the first people that you meet upon your entrance to Solaris High School. With a goofy demeanor, laid back attitude, and penchant to shove his own foot in his mouth, Oliver is definitely an oddball but you couldn’t imagine life without him. Not when he’s so clearly adamant about helping you. No matter what.

Appearance: Oliver stands at around 5’8” with dark brown eyes and dark brown hair. Light brown skin causes the gold flecks within his gaze to stand out. He’s usually seen within a graphic tee, almost drowning his slender body, of some kind and his trusty bag thrown over his shoulder.

Quinn

The first person that you meet within Solaris High that actually seems to be a genuine individual. Quinn doesn’t speak much, and she’s absolutely shy, but her intelligence shines through and her genuine wish to help you. Maybe it’s because of Oliver taking a liking to you, but you weren’t about to complain about having her help.

Appearance: Quinn stands at around 5’3” with dark green eyes and dark auburn hair. Her bronze skin causes the contrast of her eyes and hair to stand out that much more. She has a slender, almost delicate , body the usually hides beneath layers of clothing. (She keeps her hair to just under her shoulders.)

Noah/Nora

The one to watch out for within the halls of Solaris High. One word from their lips can either mean life or death for a person’s social standing. With an arrogant smile, haughty attitude, and complete lack of social awareness when it comes to their bluntness, you don’t know why you feel drawn to them, but you’re going to figure it out. Maybe even discovering something more along the way…

Appearance: They stand at around 5’11” with hazel eyes and light brown, almost golden brown, hair. Bronze skin standing out against the expensive brands that they tend to wear. You can’t look anything except your best after all. (Noah keeps his hair short and Nora keeps her hair to just over her shoulders.)

Cassius/Celeste

The mysterious stranger that you swear you’ve met before, but can’t quite place. Though you feel like you’d remember someone with their soft spoken demeanor and tendency to sink back into the shadows at a whim. You’re not sure why, but seeing them again brings a memory to the surface of your mind but it’s too far for you to grasp. Will you be able to discover what the stranger means to you? And what they’re hiding?

Appearance: They stand at around 6’3” with steel gray eyes and onyx black hair. Their olive toned skin has turned pallid, but you can’t truly understand why. They have an athletic build but not one that you’d consider bulky. (Cassius keeps his hair just above his ears and Celeste keeps her to her shoulder blades.)

Lucian/Lucia

Where C is soft spoken and mainly keeps to themself, L is anything else. They made it known, when entering Solaris, what they were and that it was you they were after— even if you weren’t exactly sure if they wanted to kill you or not. With a brazen attitude, tendency to flirt no matter the moment, and general suaveness, they were certainly one you couldn’t miss.

Appearance: They stand at around 6’5” with ice blue eyes and golden white hair. Pale skin standing out against the dark colors they tend to favor; really living up to the vampire stereotype. They have a lithe build that has power strewn across it. (Lucian keeps his short and Lucia keeps hers to the middle of her back.)
