Henley Monday -
This week Liam Hemsworth, the youngest of the Hemsworth acting dynasty and the future Mr. Destiny Hope "Miley" Cyrus, shows us the true utilitarian nature of the henley. While out running errands for what appears to be an enormous dog,the hunky Australian who plays "The Hunger Games'" Gale sports a beige, buttoned-up henley.
He looks good. He looks strong. He looks like the kind of man who knows what kind of dog food to buy. He's the kind of man who can run his own errands without a shopping list. He's the kind of man who buys his dog a new dog bed just because he felt like it. He's the kind of man who would rather bust a vein in his arm than make two trips to the car with his stuff.
If that's any indication of how he'd treat a lady, Ms. Miley is a lucky little star indeed. Billy Ray, too. He's going to need a lot of senior-care in his old age.
Everybody Simmer Down About Finnick Odair
As of late, there has been much casting speculation on the hunky star of the Hunger Games' sequels Catching Fire and Mockingjay, Finnick Odair. He is described to be a tall, svelt, blonde with a beguiling smile. With majestic, Norse- deity looks such as these, the internet is twitterpated with who could possibly be cast as the trident-bearing Adonis.
Last week, Entertainment Weekly even published a poll with who people most wanted to see play Finnick. While the top choice Ryan Kwanten....
...makes sense, and who, like any good Aussie takes to the water like a perfectly sculpted dolphin, he's too old. Kwanten is 35, a young 35 to be sure, but mid-thirties just the same. It's not that I'm ageist, but rather that the casting has stuck fairly close to the ages the Hunger Games kids are supposed to be. Granted, Finnick is supposed to be 24, but still Kwanten might be a bit of a stretch.
Other top choices were Ryan Gosling (absurd), Channing Tatum (in what world?), and Kellan Lutz (nein, danke). The only one that made any sense to me, and who seems to have quite the crazed internet fan-base is Alex Pettyfer.
He, too, makes sense. So pretty. But he does have one major issue. If his performance in Beastly (I CANNOT RECOMMEND THIS FILM HIGHLY ENOUGH) is any indicator, we have no hope of understanding a single word he garbles out while trying to mask his English accent. There were moments in that movie that we rewound multiple times, and between three women, could not decipher any real words he'd said.
What I'm really trying to get at here is that we should stop all this speculation now because we're going to be nothing but disappointed. We are all firmly in different camps and all our selections have their faults. All we're doing is building up resentment and false hopes. I think everyone needs to sit tight and temper expectations until we get the casting announcement. Put on some One Direction, make some more Peeta and Gale themed "Keep Calm" memes, and relax. Don't set yourself up for disappointment...
...Unless of course you have placed yourself into my camp, which would make you right. Settle in smugly because you know your choice is the best and most apt. Your choice was originally up for the role of Peeta but ultimately lost out to Hutcherson. At first you were like, "How could they possibly?!" but now that Finnick is on the horizon you're all, "Hutcherson was the right choice then; this guy is the right choice now."
Who is it?
Why, it's Hunter Parrish! You may know him from his turn as bad boy Stan in 17 Again, Luke in It's Complicated, or most famously Silas on Weeds. Boy is fine, and what you might not be able to see here is that his mouth is filled with a million, gigantic, shiny white teeth. Is this picture not quite doing it for you? What a dream....
the fact that i'm no longer the same age as the protagonists of novels and films i once connected to is so heartbreaking. there was a time when I looked forward to turning their age. i did. and i also outgrew them. i continue to age, but they don't; never will. the immortality of fiction is beautiful, but cruel.
It's also fucked up that the first mentors were Snow and his classmates when they were teens like the boys and girls they were going to send to death. Also Snow was the one who mostly contributed to turn the games into a show because even people from the Capital were too disgusted to watch it

Think how much creepier it would be to see them killing other kids when they look so squishy-cheeked and little.
I saw this tiktok about the hunger games and how the people in capital didn’t care about the children in the games until Peeta said that Katniss was pregnant. How them caring more about an unborn fetus than actual kids was a critique of the current world.

Great movie representing the conflict between the rulling class and the subject class and how there are no winners in war, but there are only survivors And I didn't know Foggy was in Hunger games!?
Do you think Burdock ever saw Haymitch in Katniss because they’re so similar.
Do you think he would miss what his best friend could have to been to Katniss and the bond they could have had because they’re were so similar?
Like Katniss and Burdock would be hanging out in the woods and Katniss would do something so similar to Haymitch that he wouldn’t help but mourn?

Rewatching the 2nd hunger games film, Catching Fire for the first time in a years here r my thoughts chronologically, & I've got a lot to say about this one:
- They actually show Katniss's PTSD, flashbacks and nightmares.
- Gale being a "nice guy", christ hes a an sh*tty
- watching them back to back, they recast the cat!!!
- Snow is a fabulous villain.
- CINNA 🥰
- Caeser Flickerman's banger theme tune!
- The camera's interview is so awkward
- Effie deserved Katniss snapping at her on the train
- Peeta acknowledging that he cant hold her to wot they did to survive in the games! Peeta's already way above Gale. Peeta king 👑 of communication.
- just asking each other their favourite colour is adorable
- The Mockingjay!
- Peeta offering to talk to make it easier for Katniss
- Peeta giving Thresh & Rue's families some of their winnings. Katniss's speech about Rue is beautiful, I'm sobbing
- I love district 11, f*ck the peace keepers!! That poor old man! Haymitch: Who's going to protect them!?
- Haymitch knows better than anyone that you never escape the games.
- Jennifer Lawrence is fabulous
- Haymitch cares about them so much, we love him.
- Katniss barely holding it together on the victory tour. She looked so horrified at the little girl saying she would volunteer just like Katniss did.
- Caeser Flickerman has no right to be so iconic.
- Peeta is amazing! I love him and Katniss
- Does Effie have to say Mahogany in every film?
- Peetas disgust at the Capitol compared to what people in the districts are going through.
- I love the politics of catching fire
- Seneca decided to stop breathing - Plutarch
- F*CK GALE!!!! SHE DOESNT HAVE TO LOVE U ROMANTICALLY FOR BOTH OF U TO SAVE UR FAMILIES!!!!! Gale's right about rebelling, but he isnt even trying to understand her trauma.
- I love the anti corporal punishment, pro riots/rebellion, f*ck the police message of catching fire
- Peeta without question helping to save Gale cos he's not selfish
- Prim being a great nurse!
- I don't think Katniss has ever had any romantic feeling for Gale, he's just her best friend at most, a lot of the time he's barely that, she would've thrown herself in front of that whip if it was anyone she remotely cared about.
- The trauma of all the victors. Haymitcch is right they're not winners, they're survivors. Nobody ever wins.
- Effie actually kinda realizing the games arent the honour shes been indoctrinated to think they are.
- Katniss didnt ghetto say goodbye to Prim 😭
- Finnick & Maggs!!! We love them.
- Finnick Odair 🥰
- The Capitol is even more perfect in this one
- Johanna Mason is iconic and fabulous
- Wiress & Beetie r great
- Maggs is the sweetest
- Transition from Seneca Cranes hanging body to Caeser Flickerman's banging theme song!
- The Victor's interviews are very persuasive & interesting, they each show a lot about the characters
- Slay Johnnana!!! Make him pay for it
- The costumes in this one is a step up from the first.
- the fact she knows that Cinna is in danger for the Mockingjay dress

I love this film, for me, it's my favourite in the series.
Rewatching the 1st hunger games film for the first time in a years r my thoughts chronologically:
- I forgot how amazing Jennifer Lawrence is as Katniss!
- Effie is even more oblivion to the tone of the hunger games than I remembered
- I forgot how iconic the volunteer scene is.
- Effie genuinely believes it's worth it for the kids to die if they get to experience a little Capitol opulence
- tHAt iS MAhOgaNy!!
- They captured the Capitol so well!
- I love Cinna, they captured him perfectly.
- Caeser Flickerman's commentary is a fabulous addition.
- Rue's introduction scene is perfect.
- when Katniss says "hey" in training centre, peeta's eyes light up
- the scene where haymitch is watching Capitol children pretend to be part of the Hunger games captures how desensitized they are really well.
- Seneca Crance doesn't fully understand the politics of why the games exist the way they do.
- Caeser Flickerman's song is such a banger!!!
- Peeta "She came here with me" Mellark
- Katniss looking at the bow at the cornucopia, Peeta: Katniss no!, Katniss: Katniss yes!!
- Haymitch seeing Katniss hurt so having to charm Capitol sponsors even tho he hates doing it. °○°

- I love that while Katniss is the Mockingjay, it's Rue's death & the unity between them that sparks the riot in District 11.

- Haymitch warning Katniss the Capitol isnt happy with how they won means so much more when u know cos of the way he won his family was killed.
- aww Peeta genuinely believes Katniss in the Caeser flickerman interview. Poor boy

The Hunger Games has the FUNNIEST arranged marriage of all time btw. Katniss realizes she'll have to marry Peeta and she's obviously upset so Haymitch tries to comfort her by saying "you could do a lot worse" and Katniss is like "well DUH of course I could do worse than Peeta he's the best & handsomest person on the face of the planet but that's not the POINT I want to be able to choose for MYSELF". Then she goes and chooses Peeta anyway lol. Comedy gold I tell you
