Rewatched The Entirety Of Tales Of Arcadia, 3 Series And .... The Movie..

rewatched the entirety of tales of arcadia, 3 series and .... the movie..

and and i came across and idea somewhere i forgot where, of combining the httyd + Tao universes!

to be clear, i don't mean in a crossover where to franchises meet but the lore being combined into one universe ahah, so events in httyd still happened then idk years and years later toothless the king of dragons is still alive but ancient and has met the champion of arcadia, the trollhunter Jim!

It's been well, so long since his dragons have interacted with humans, so it was quite surprising to see one enter his secret home,

don't have much story or lore in it yet, it is just a fun thought for now, having toothless meet new ppl that remind him of his old friends

sometimes they resemble them a lil too much..

did i mention he talks here now? I dubious choice but idk, i think it would be fun

Httyd au in which Hiccup gets to be the feral dragon boy he was destined to be.

Basically, what if the underwater scene in the first movie when Stoick frees Toothless from his chains during the fight with Red death didn't happen? (Im talking about that scene before Stoick tells Hiccup that he's proud to call him his son)

I think there was some form of understanding between Toothless and Stoick in that scene. When Stoick pulled Hiccup out the water and broke Toothless free he showed Toothless, for the first time, that he wasn't the enemy here. Not anymore.

What if that had never happened?

What if Toothless managed to break the chains, all by himself, fuelled by his panic when he saw Hiccup drowning? What if Hiccup managed to cook up a last minute plan to free him, using all those sharp bits of metal and debri to do the job quicker, before he lost breath?

In both cases the fight would probably go like how it did in canon, minus the heartfelt moment Hiccup shared with Stoick before the battle.

Hiccup would still get knocked off by the Red Death's tail, and Toothless would undoubtedly go after him, having to bite his leg off in process, etc etc.

But,,,,when Stoick finally finds them after the battle, worried out of his mind, thoughts consumed by the fact that the last thing Hiccup might've heard from him was him declaring that he wasn't his son, he does not encounter a trusting night fury. Toothless does not unfurl his wings to show him his son.

Instead, he glimpses his son under it's wings as it shifts, standing with no little difficulty, with Hiccup's limp form between it's forelegs as it growls and hisses at him.

Toothless absolutely mauls anyone daring to approach them, and it eventually has to be subdued by the entire gang + their dragons. It isn't an easy feat, despite Toothless also being injured and drained by the battle.

In the end, they manage to get Hiccup the medical care he needs, the dragons ferry the vikings back to Berk, and it's all a very slow process, especially with the feral protective Night Fury stubbornly guarding Hiccup. Astrid is the only one able to approach them.

And that trend continues,,,even long after Hiccup has recovered. Toothless makes every effort to drag him away from people, and on the rare occasion he isn't successful, he just spends the whole time threatening the poor sods foolish enough to come too close.

As a result, Hiccup spends much of his time away from people, except for Astrid and the gang and most of his time is spent around dragons, learning about them and just being Hiccup being feral.

He goes of flights further and further away from Berk, trips lasting longer and longer, and Stoick fears one day he might never come back. He talks to the beasts in their own language, with hisses and clicks and chirps, the draconic sounds bleeding into his Norse. The Night Fury follows him like his own shadow, protecting him far better than Stoick ever could.

He rues the day he disowned his son.

For it seemed as if the Night Fury knew what he had done, and took Hiccup as it's own hatchling.

It bugs me when people say the HTTYD movies aren't that different from the books because the shows reference the books like all the time but that's stupid because if you put movie hiccup and book hiccup in camp half-blood they'd go in different cabins

Hi everyone! Just figured I'd come on and say I have to unfortunately stop using this account. I've gotten a new phone and I don't remember the password to this account so I won't be able to log in on my new phone. I've tried changing my password and the email attached to this account but you need your password to change those which I do not have. I'm sure there's a solution to this but I honestly just figure making a new account will be easier. If you enjoy my contributions to the fandoms I have partaken in then I will repost this post on the new account. I will have probably made it by tomorrow. I encourage you to continue following me there.

Fandoms I partake in include:

The Ledgend of Zelda

Hell I just want them to actually adapt the ‘How To Train Your Dragon’ books — that biz was EPIC.

I'll say it before and I'll say it again:

You could make a beautiful HTTYD book adaptation through a one-season 2D animated TV show. The charming, childlike whimsy, the quirky dragons, the wonderfully weird world, the epic larger-than-life scenes and characters, all this screams 2D animation as the best adaptation. That would capture the tone, the heart (Cowell's illustrations!!), the imagination. Most books would be a single episode. The last few books would be two. Don't drag the story out, don't bog it down with unnecessary additions, but tell it in precisely the amount of space it needs to be told. Don't try to realism anything. Let the world be itself and let the magic shine.

Cressida Cowell is such a writer's name, I swear. It was made to be put on a cover of a story about a little viking boy and his dragon doing stupid shit.

Something about the how to train your dragon books no one talks about is the intense desire you get to be a better person once you finish reading them

I adore the httyd books with a passion but I honestly think twoo is a tiny bit better. My opinion on this does vary but most of the time I truly think twoo had so much to offer. And that's not to say httyd doesn't have as much to offer, I just liked the aesthetic of twoo so much because of all the whimsical magic fairytale vibe. But twoo had so much to offer and no one really acknowledges it. And a lot of the time when they do acknowledg it httyd creeps it's way into the conversation. I think twoo was a beautiful book but it's so underrated it's honestly wild to me.

All I can imagine is a bunch of big square Vikings at the top of a cliff screaming

"SCOTLAND FOREVER‼️‼️🗣🗣🔥🔥🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿"

At the green death

i think they should animate a book accurate httyd show in a mix of the style of like nimona and voltron and avatar i just think any one of those would work so well

I always thought along the lines of gravity falls or adventure time or something. Or that shitty httyd recap animation. That was awesome I think that style is perfect for it

Everyone I don't like has a htyyd obsession so I ask them if they've read the books and they'll all be like "the my first library picture books that came out around the same time as DOB?" And I'll be like "LOSER! NOT A REAL FAN!" just kidding they don't know about the my first library picture books that came out around the same time as DOB because they're fake fans and posers

Eret: Where I’m from locking someone in an arena with nothing but a knife, a wooden shield, and an angry monstrous nightmare would be considered a public execution.

Hiccup: skill issues.

Eret: didn’t you almost die?

Hiccup: well I was pretty weak for a 15 year old, someone else could have done it. Probably.

Eret: YOU WERE FIFTEEN!?

“Old Wrinkly, Camicazi, And One Eye Sat At Hiccup’s Bedside. One Eye Didn’t Seem As Happy As He

“Old Wrinkly, Camicazi, and One Eye sat at Hiccup’s bedside. One Eye didn’t seem as happy as he might have been two days ago at the thought of one less Human in the world. A big tear rolled out of his one eye and down his Saber-Tooth and plopped onto the ground.” - How to Cheat a Dragon’s Curse HTTYD Book 4 Cressida Cowell

I can just imagine Toothless, when he stopped licking Hiccup’s face, going over to One Eye and trolling him despite his master about to die. (Based on that one Harry Potter meme with Dumbledore and Snape iykyk)

Book 7 gave me nightmares as a kid about getting taken by Norbert the Nutjob and sold into the Viking slave trade and I was petrified of Bearcub's grandma

we always specify the difference between the earlier books and the later books in the HTTYD franchise as "books 1-7 are whimsical, fun child fantasy and books 8-12 are absolutely fucked" but... i don't believe that's true.

the later books are consistently fucked up and complicated and mature and wonderful and tend to leave me with tears in my eyes. the early books trick you into believing that they're fun children's stories and then jumpscare you with the most messed up set of paragraphs you've ever read in your entire fucking life AND THEN just pretend like nothing ever happened.

the books all take place in the same universe, the same fucked up, horrible world. the early books are through the lense of a child who hasn't yet grasped how fucked up the world is, who hasn't been exposed to the fuckery yet. the later books are through the lense of the same child who has now been burdened with Knowledge. once you have the context of the later books, the earlier books start to make too much sense. and holy fuck do they get a lot darker upon reread.

the books are all completely fucked up. the only difference is the consistency at which the books are fucked up.

you know what book seriously messed me up as a kid? book 2. DEAR GODS BOOK 2.

I wrote an essay about this

Valka takes a lot of flack for abandoning Hiccup and Stoick, but not nearly enough people hate on Stoick (imho).

Stoick was also an awful father?

He isolated Hiccup, set unrealistic expectations, publically humiliated his son for years, he absolutely refused to be understanding or reasonable until he was faced with defeat and failure.

Hiccup had to adapt to become more aggressive (as seen in RTTE) or have his father absolutely bulldoze over his ideas and his personhood.

Stoick became a better father when Hiccup was nearly an adult already, but he utterly failed Hiccup when he was a child and thats 100% worth mentioning and addressing.
