Heyyy I know I don’t post much here but the last episode is coming out!!! Haven’t watched it yet (no spoilers) so yeah have this drawing bc I’m rlly busy cuz compos d’avril
“I would like to suggest a temporary truce.”
Luz has no idea how Hunter got in.
From the looks of bewilderment on Eda and Kings faces Luz is pretty sure that they’re in the same boat. The same very confused, very concerned boat that’s being tossed by the whims of the boiling sea.
Luz turns back to Hunter who’s looking at the three of them expectantly, waiting on a response.
“Hootyyyyyy,” Eda calls into the house. Hunter keeps just standing there and Luz pinches herself to make sure she isn’t dreaming.
Then there’s an owl coming out of the floor. At least some things are normal.
“Hello!”
“How is he here?” Eda demands, “Why is he here?”
“To offer a truce? It’s a very good truce, and I said that I would recommend it, and what better way to recommend it than letting him tell you all about it himself!” Hooty pauses to check if anyone’s nodding in agreement of his clearly very sound decision making process. He’s met by a stony silence and expressions of particularly strong disapproval.
For once he seems to read the room.
“Okay, you guys have lots to talk about, bye!” His face shoves itself through the floorboards back the way it came and a hole is left in the floor between Eda, King and Luz and Hunter. Luz imagines the hole widening into a chasm, it feels more appropriate.
“As I said,” Hunter continues slowly, “I’m here to propose a truce.”
Eda scoffs. King growls. Luz glares.
“And what common ground could we possibly find to build a truce over?” Eda asks icily.
Hunter takes a breath. “I was hoping we might work together to kill Kikimora.”
Huh.
“Okay then,” Eda starts, voice full in equal measure of interest and surprise. “I’m listening.”
New Fic!!
Word count: 1,338
Summary: Luz feels guilty all the time.
It wouldn't be so bad if she didn't know that she deserved it.
~
“But you can do magic here, isn’t that all you’ve ever wanted?” Willow asks.
“How can you miss being there when you fit in so much better here?” Gus says.
“They didn’t deserve you.” Amity snorts, like it’s obvious.
~
Fic under the cut!
Luz feels guilty all the time now.
Not guilty enough that she’s consumed by it. Not guilty enough that it stops her from doing anything. It’s just something in the background, something that pulls at her a little as she runs and fights and generally enjoys life more than she ever has before.
She mentions it to her friends. They don’t quite understand it.
“But you can do magic here, isn’t that all you’ve ever wanted?” Willow asks.
“How can you miss being there when you fit in so much better here?” Gus says.
“They didn’t deserve you.” Amity snorts, like it’s obvious.
The last one makes Luz feel something different. She hopes she’ll figure out what sometime soon, once the guilt has ebbed away and there’s enough room for her to step back and look at her thoughts from a distance. Once there’s enough room that she might be able to examine the shape they take.
The problem is that Luz isn’t even guilty for what she’s done. If all she had done to her mom was leave her all alone in a different dimension then Luz wouldn’t even be feeling bad. It’s what Luz is going to do that keeps the low buzzing of guilt close.
Because Luz is never going back.
How could she? How could she return to a world where she can’t do magic, where she never fit in?
(where they didn’t deserve her)
Luz would do anything to stay in the Boiling Isles forever and considering the fact that all she has to do is not leave? Luz would have to have some twisted sort of mind to want to go back.
Her mom was going to send her to send her somewhere to get her imagination stamped out of her for three months. What if Luz returned and she tried to do that again? Then she might never get an opportunity to return to the Boiling Isles and then-
Then Luz would be feeling significantly worse things than a little guilt buzzing at the edge of her consciousness.
So she stays.
~
Luz is staring at the door that would take her back home.
Eda looks at her from over the cover of her magazine. “You planning to set that on fire, kid?”
“Yeah.” Luz answers without remembering that she probably shouldn’t be saying that sort of thing. Oh well, she thinks. It’s not like Eda’s going to judge her.
Eda puts down her magazine and raises a judging eyebrow in Luz’s direction.
Luz looks back at her and narrows her eyes. They’ve never talked about Luz going home and she had really been enjoying that status quo. “Your eyebrows are judging me.” she informs Eda. Just in case she wasn’t aware yet.
She nods slowly. “Yeah, they tend to do that kid.” She pauses. Like she needs some time to come to terms with the unprecedented fact that Luz would do anything not to stay here forever. “Bet it’s ‘cause they were wondering why you were going to set your only way back home on fire.”
“I guess that would make sense.” Luz answers, “It would kind of be an odd thing for me to do, from the perspective of your eyebrows.” She tries her best to look serious since this is a serious conversation despite how they’re both pretending that it isn’t.
They stare each other down for a while.
King comes and interrupts before either of them can break the stalemate. Eda looks particularly affronted when this happens, like whenever she’s avoiding telling Luz something she doesn’t use this exact same trick.
It’s odd. Luz thought Eda would have realised she’s a fast learner by now.
~
In a particularly unexpected turn of events it’s Lilith that ends of being the one to confront Luz about the whole thing.
She just had a fight with Eda. Obviously. Because the only time Luz ever runs into Lilith is when she’s just about to fight Eda or when they’ve just finished. It ends in a draw, like it always does, and Luz wonders why Lilith keeps coming back to fight Eda when she must know that it’s going to end the same way it always does.
Luz voices these opinions and Lilith squints at her with an expression that reminds her of Eda and her judge-y eyebrows. “Do humans not have families?” she asks, her tone full of honest confusion.
Luz isn’t quite sure how to answer that. She stays silent, waiting for King to interrupt like last time but remembers that King isn’t actually here right now and decides not to answer anyway. Maybe she’ll get lucky and someone else will interrupt.
“Well?” Lilith prompts, impatient now. “Do you have a family, human?”
Luz opens and closes her mouth a couple of times, “Why do you care?” she asks, which isn’t her best comeback but does the job of allowing her to avoid the question.
Lilith has the gall to roll her eyes. “I care about precisely two people in the Boiling Isles.” She holds up two fingers to illustrate her point. “My awful sister,” She puts a finger down, “and my wonderful protege.” She puts the other finger down so that her hand is in the shape of a fist. An irrational part of Luz’s brain wonders if she’s about to get punched. “So I think it’s understandable enough that I might like to know if the human that has the full adoration of my two favourite people might be leaving them someday soon.”
“Nope,” Luz starts backing away cause Lilith looks kind of angry and hence very scary, “No one’s leaving here. I am a-okay staying right here. Forever.”
“Oh.” Lilith says, expression turning surprised. Her eyes aren’t narrowed anymore and it makes them look far larger than normal. “I thought you were leaving.”
Luz looks at Lilith and feels something full of far too familiar guilt stirring in her chest. “That’s weird. I’ve never thought that before.” she says, because it’s true.
“But you have a family?” Lilith says because even if her and Luz don’t talk much she’s still one of the smartest people Luz knows, which is saying something since Luz is surrounded by geniuses these days.
“Yep. I’m staying though.”
Lilith frowns. “You should visit them. Family’s important.” Luz can feel herself starting to back away, the buzz of guilt rising again, but Lilith interrupts before she can get very far. “I’m sure that either Amity or Eda would drag you back before you could be gone for too long anyway.”
The words cause Luz to freeze. She hadn’t thought of that before.
Lilith had clearly been aiming for the comment to sound offhand, an afterthought, but from the way she’s a little tenser than normal Luz can tell that she really was trying to reassure her. It makes Luz wonder it Lilith might have enough room in her heart to care about three people one day.
“I’ll think about it.” she promises.
Luz keeps her eyes fixed firmly on the floor as she says it but she can tell that the words make Lilith smile a little anyway.
~
Luz really does think about it. She thinks about it constantly, replaces the buzz of guilt with wonderings over whether she trusts that her loved ones have their claws dug into her deep enough that they could never let her go.
One night, lying in bed and wondering the same things as always, she comes to the conclusion that she does. After the certainty has settled itself in her bones she has the best nights sleep she’s had in weeks.
In the morning she decides that she’ll wait a little. Let the certainty sink in a bit deeper. Let the amount she loves the people she’s surrounded herself with grow until the idea she won’t be able to return becomes ridiculous.
But then the Emperor comes and the portal burns and none of it really matters.
Luz starts feeling guilty again. She doubts she’ll ever stop.
Eyyyyyy I’m back (again)
The reason why I’m tagging Treasure Planet is because the first picture is the humanization of Mr Arrow btw lol

A detail I love about this finale episode is King's choice of a game to play with the Collector aka...
The Owl House
In universe, it makes perfect for King, a child, to choose his house & family aka his life that he loves as the subject of a game. Why wouldn't that be the first thing to come to his mind ? (outside of Fetch of course)
But from a viewer perspective ? That is such a double entendre. Because WE play The Owl House. We watch Luz, Eda & King adventures on the Boiling Isles, with an island worth of characters and "players". The Owl House IS a game that requires an island worth of players (and even more with the Human realm) and it IS a game that requires the Collector's help in order to keep going. Because if the Day of Unity goes on, it's game over. We'll lose that game too.
And I think this double-entendre is reinforced by the fact that we have all our children character concurr that The Owl House is a great game. With memories that will last you for a lifetime, that you play everyday. Because The Owl House is their *story*, it's their life with Luz these past few months. (and we have Hunter barely managing a squeak because he hasn't had great run of it these past few months. although he got all these friends and Darius out of it at least) It's a game but also not, and wouldn't it be amazing if this was foreshadowing for what the Collector ends up actually "playing" ? Life ?
On top of that, I'm a big fan of the theory (based on King & The Collector parallels) that they could genuinely become friends. So I hope this is foreshadowing for the Collector to genuinely play "The Owl House" : to be added to Eda's ragtag of misfits, raised and taught right from wrong like she did to King, to find a family as a child that felt unwanted by the world like Luz did. To go on all these silly adventures, to play the game of Life.
Look at him. This child might be too powerful for his own good, but he doesn't have the same malicious intent that Belos does. It seems far more likely to me that he's simply disconnected from other people. Amoral instead of immoral. Too strong to realize what he's doing, and how what he does affect other people. Desperate for company as well. A child with godly powers.
They're terrifying, and we get why King's dad might have emprisonned them. "You're on timeout, get on top of the fridge !" Except it clearly didn't WORK, this child is as excited as ever. And why wouldn't they ? Stick an ADHD child in a dark room with no one to talk to and no way to play, see if that helps them settle down. I don't think it will.
Maybe he'll simply be the final Antagonist and hurt too many people for that to happen. But I think that would be nice, and come full circle with that game of The Owl House.
To live and grow and play and love and stick together in this game of The Owl House.
Did anybody ask ? No. Does it make me happy ? Yes. THUS, I will share with you all my current/ongoing TOH typings ✨
I already mentionned this with RWBY but same applies here : I prefer enneagram to MBTI, so not all characters will have my MBTI guess because for several of them I just wasn't really interested in guessing it or nothing really striked me. Anyway, MOVING ON
Luz Noceda ♦ ENFP 7w6 4w3 9w8 so/sx
From the first few episodes of TOH I already knew that Luz was some kind of 479 (and good for her ! love that tritype & its contradictions). The only question was the order. If yourself hesitated for some time between 7 and 4 : just look at Reaching Out and come back to me. This episode is the epithome of a 7 : a race ahead, desperately busying yourself outside to avoid your internal world. Her 4 is also quite clear : Luz longs to be HERSELF, she's unabashedly authentic but also feels *wrong* in some shape or form for never managing to fit in the Human realm. Her 9 shows easily in the fact that she's simply put a pretty laid-back person overall, and rarely express anger. But most of all she's scared of being a burden and eager to accomodate others when she fears being abandonned.
Eda Clawthorne ♦ ESTP 7w8 8w9 2w3
Her 7 and 8 are both clear : Eda is a very headstrong woman, she fears feeling trapped and she's eager to experience hands-on all that the world has to offer to her. She's playful and curious, and despises the Emperor Coven for restricting others' future and their magic. Her 8 shows in that as well : Eda is concerned with fulfilling her wants & needs in life, and will grow angry when others trying to prevent her from doing so. She rejects vulnerability in most situations and doesn't like to show her cracks to others. If you type her 783 instead I won't mind either and I would get it somehow. But I feel like, even if she likes to brag about being the strongest witch on the Isles, Eda doesn't really care about being respected or admired, and she certainly doesn't base her self-worth on her ability to fulfill others' expectations in any way. She's a caretaker who struggles to let others return the favor to her (reject). If you want me to elaborate on why 2 fix, I know one ep in particular led me to this conclusion but it was probably back in S2A so I would have to look it up.
King Clawthorne ♦ 3w4 8w7 6w7
His typing is made harder by the fact that he's literally 8 years old. I'm unsure of his core, torn between 3 and 8. King's arc clearly focuses on identity & image (heart core) issues. He's grandiloquent, concerned with how he appears to people. BUT not very competency (Competency : 135 triad who tends to solve problems by rejecting emotions and trying to stay objective/detached) He lacks care for what others expect from him. BUT at the same time he isn't raised in a 3ish household, Luz & Eda don't expect much from him so that could be the reason. He starts off as someone who denies vulnerability and tends to overfocus on *his* wants and needs (8). Or at least he DID but he's certainly grown since. He tend to be very reactive to when others go against him. (Reactive : 468 triad who tend to work themselves up emotionally in the face of a problem and want others to mirror that emotional reaction to be sure that they understand the gravity of the situation) BUT AGAIN. He's literally 8 years old. What 8 years old is competent, unconcerned with how he accomplishes his wants, and not at least a bit reactive. THUS, hard to say really.
Hooty ♦ 2w3 core
Lilith Clawthorne ♦ 3w4 1w9 6w5
3w4 and 1w9 are the strongest part of her tritype, I initially typed her as a 1 to be honest but had to switch when she literally asked her mom for congratulations over her folded napkins. She's concerned with getting love & appreciation over her objective accomplishments most of all. THEN she has the rigidty and perfectionnism of a 1 + the desire to make ther world around her (including Eda) fits her vision of what is good. At least in the beginning.
Willow Park ♦ 9w8 4w3 6w5
not sure what to say to argue here, if you feel differently you can ask for why's i suppose. Willow is overall easy to get along and her integration seems to fit the 9 -> 3 line : letting go of self-imposed isolation, trying to step out of her "background character" life to show what she's capable of. Comfortable with how she's different from others and her ''misfit'' status once she's shown that she's not WRONG but simply different.
Gus Porter ♦ 5w6/6w5? 3w2 9w1
i need to rewatch the Gus-centric ep. there's some stuff that could point to a 5 really : including his absolute *need* to be the most competent in the room, the most knowledgeable, to not be rejected and how it was reflected in his presidency over the human club. but at the same time, "trust" and an inability to trust yourself is a very 6ish theme and so I remain undecided. other than that 3 and 9 are a no-brainer : Gus is a very attachment character : he tends to conform to others expectations and what they consider as good for a variety of reasons.
Amity Blight ♦ 3w4 6w5 1w9 sp/so
Amity is constantly 3ing, just in different fonts. From "best student in the abomination track" to "i'm gonna be the best girlfriend ever". As she acurately explained herself, she was raised under the assumption that "everything is an opportunity to justify existing". In other words, you need to prove that you are worth something, and in her case through concrete and objective measures of success to earn love. ie she's a 3 core.
Hunter ♦ ISTP 6w5 3w2 8w9
i nearly typed him 3w2 but had to switch after Any sport in a Storm and Hollow Mind. The 3 and 6 are both very strong in Hunter, but in the end it's clear that seeing Belos as good and trustworthy played a big part in him feeling safe and secure in his place in the world. And having that certainty shattered really shook him. His 3 is clear as well in the way he is constantly trying to prove himself useful. Some might type him as a Te user because Hunter appreciates rules and authority as he says, but I do believe that this is his 6 speaking more than anything : 6s feel secure when the rules and expectations are clear-cut and out there, they appreciate authority they can rely on. But Hunter's way of fulfilling this when it comes to Belos certainly seemed more Ti-ish. Even while trying to deny the truth, he still had to try and make things logical and rational *to himself*. He doesn't deny the evidence, but tries to make it fit in a framework that fits his understanding of reality.
Belos ♦ IxTJ 1w2 5w 2w1
Hollow Mind clearly showed that Belos is a 1 and not an 8. Belos has so far always been a controlled & cold villain. He has outbursts but they are directed at others' incompetence or (in Elsewhere and Elsewhen) at witches and what he considers *wrong* : these are 1 reasons for anger, not really 8ish in essence. 1s care about whether the world around them fits their standarts and might enforce them on people. They're the one who will rise to the top to try & make the world fit their idea of what is ''correct'' and will berate people for their incompetence. 8s, on average, will more often be anti-authoritarian because rules are an obstacle to them having free reign over their actions & accomplishing their wants/will. And being the one to establish the rules isn't the 8 go-to solution to avoid being controlled quite as much as people pretend it is. They care about being able to do whatever they want, and do not (on average) get along well with overly rigid structure. As for the 5 : if Belos had a 6 fix, it would have been easy to throw in some 6ish reasonning into his whole cleansing plan : him fearing witches or the unknown or anything of the kind (fitting of his time period). But there's none of that aspect with this character. (although to be fair he does use 6 tactics, but mostly on others) I think 5 is more likely since he does have this tendency to keep all the knowledge & plans to himself, and it's one of his go to way to control others. He has an independant streak but not for 8-related issues (no problem delegating, no problem with rigid structure, no problem weaponizing weakness) rather in a 5ish way (only one to know what is going on, shares the strict minimum, leaves other in the dark to avoid being challenged, emotionally distant & unavailable) As for the 2, the part that would most probably surprise people : The Emperor Coven is an environment that breeds 3 like tomorrow but I do not think Belos himself is one surprisingly. If you look at it more carefully, over the course of the show we have never seen Belos actually SHOW his competency or talents to anyone to garner their appreciation. And he never does really. Instead his tactis always rely on being kind, complimenting others and he downrights sees himself as a savior. He expects gratitude, not respect, and presents himself as good-natured and helpful which brings me to type him as a 2 over a 3.
Kikimora ♦ 6w? 3w4 8w
she acts the way she does because of fear, for her life or her position. she's also driven by her desire for recognition through objective measure of success. As most people in the Emperor Coven.
Darius ♦ 3w4 7w8 8w9/9w8?
another 3 again, the Emperor Coven is annoying like that. that said, I do not think Darius has a 6. He distinguishes himself from characters like Kikimora or Hunter so far in the sense that he respects people with individuality, who thinks for themselves and make their own call in situations. As opposed to mindless obediance, that he seems to disapprove of. He doesn't understand people who lack self-respect (like Hunter) and himself shows a willingness to skirt rules & arbitrary orders in favor of getting some "him-time" or having fun. All of this said, I think he could be either 379 or 378 : he's focused on his wants and willing to fight for them to some extent, and doesn't respect people who fail to do the same and don't respect themselves. At the same time he's a very laidback guy, who doesn't mind just up-and-leaving conversation and brushing off others. And seem keen on preserving his time & energy.
Edric Blight ♦ 6w7 3w2 9w?
reaching out made him sound like a 2 somewhat but i think it's a trap because if you think about it, edric has never seemed concerned with being a caretaker or feeling needed in a 2ish way. his issue in Reaching out is more about feeling like the brunt of a joke and also incompetent aka 3 issues. like hunter, he says "i can help" but actually means "I'm capable/competent/reliable enough to help." which comes back to more 3ish struggles. I think 3 fix in general is more coherent with the persona Edric presents to the world the rest of the time. Pretending to be more put together, charming & confident than he actually feels deep down aligns more with the 3 tendency for Deceit than the 2 desire to make themselves indispensable through answering others' needs. Also 3s, despite being a competency type and usually seen as confident, are very much dependant on others' opinions & expectations since they're an Attachment type : they define their worth through answering others' expectations, and not fulfilling this aspect f/cks with them.
Emira Blight ♦ 278
this tritype in some order is my best guess but we don't know a lot about her yet. countrary to amity & edric she seems completely unbothered by what others think of her when it comes to her talents or her accomplishments. at the same time, she's clearly the caretaker of the family (healing edric & giving advice to amity while dying her hair). she's confident in her personal worth but still ties herself to her siblings until being almost resentful of how much her life revolves around her twin. she's clearly the more headstrong of the two, seems pretty willful and handles edric with ease. but sorely lacks the rigidity of 1s, she seems (like Eda) more concerned with having her fun and doing what she wants instead. she's also bothered by the fact that her & edric are always together. This is why I think she might be a 7, who dislikes feeling trapped and currently is because her and edric aren't on the same page on the subject. but as the show progress they distinguish themselves more & more so it should be okay for these two.

If you're thinking : but where is Raine ?? THEY'RE NOWHERE I'm so sorry I genuinely like them but I have 0 strong opinion about their enneagram so far ?? I need another Raine ep I think before giving my take on it. It's pretty clear that they don't have a 8, and I also doubt they'd have a 3. But other than that ? I'd rather not be hasty and just admit that I have no clue for now.
Don't hesitate to disagree in asks, reblogs or notes as long as you stay respectful. And if you want me to elaborate more on 1 character or another, feel free to ask as well ! Or if you want to ask about background characters I didn't put here.
Good day everyone !
Me watching "Them's the Breaks, Kid" with my sister
*Eda & Lilith studying on screen* : LOOK LOOK THEY'RE SO CUTE
*Bump defending the students & being all shy/awkward* : LOOK AT HIM HE'S SO SWEET
*Alador, Odalia & Darius trio laughing together* : THEY'RE SO CUTE
*Eda & Raine meeting and getting into shenanigans together* : THEY ARE ADORABLE I LOVE THEM
Basically : HOW DOES TOH CREW MAKE EVERYONE SO ADORABLE & ENJOYABLE I CAN'T. This episode was genuinely so sweet, it was like eating a bunch of marshmallow. I love them so much. I spent the whole ep squealing & sobbing because they are so cute
And the fact that we get this whole episode for the sole reason that Luz is feeling down and so Eda shares with her some good memories because she knows Luz love this kind of stories... ;;
I was saying that I wanted Luz to have a break after Reaching Out, some sweet time to recover with cute Raeda memories and that's EXACLTY WHAT HAPPENED don't touch me I'm feeling so soft
And OMFG Darius is in league with Raine ?? THIS IS SO FREAKING AMAZING. Actually I think someone had made theories about that, even based on Eda's Requiem. Need to find that post & reblog to applaud their brains.
I love everyone. SO. MUCH.
Except Terra, fuck Terra. She looks cool but fuck her.
Reaching Out - Part 3 : Edric, Eda & Worldbuilding
Finally & hopefully the last part of this breakdown... The subplots ! And this episode did very well with them !
As previously stated in Part 1; even outside of Luz/Amity/Alador, we've got some neat stuff going on in the background.
Eda is trying to find out more about Raine's situation & the Day of Unity; while Edric is feeling kind of useless & inadequate. And together, they both help the worldbuilding !
Point n°3 : Through her relationship with Raine & her worries, Eda helps to keep the whole season cohesive. She lets kids be kids, but in almost all episodes keep asking questions regarding Raine's situation : this episode is no exception, and thanks to her we get some new precisions on the Day of Unity !
It also helps the worlbuilding, as last episode did, because the Emperor's Coven has been looking less & less like a monolith. Whereas we could have been tempted to think last season that most people wholeheartedly agreed with Belos, as time pass more & more cracks start to show and even characters from directly under Belos' rule start showing some hesitation.
Point n°4 : On the other hand, Edric's subplot is (like Darius in last ep) a perfect example of how to develop a secondary character without highjacking other characters screentime ! Through making him work with Eda, the writers have enabled Edric to show off both his capabilities as well as his insecurities while making him fit inside the plot in a fairly natural way, and thus keep the screentime + plot from scattering everywhere. And when your secondary characters get developped, the world thanks you !
Thanks to Reaching Out, we learn how to better differentiate Edric from his twin; and I have hope we will get a similar subplot for Emira later on !
-> When a family isn't working as it should, all members are always affected in some way. So if Amity is bearing the brunt of her mothers' expectations & expected to behave almost perfectly... Edric seems lost as some kind of middle child : treated as a joke by both his sisters (though neither mean ill) and unable to find his place & carve his niche (at least officially) in the family as a result. He is a jokester for sure, but this episode shows clearly that constantly being the brunt of the joke takes his toll like most things do when in excess, and that he isn't good at asserting himself. Edric would love to help & make himself useful, since as of now he has some clear self-esteem issues.
-> Even better : Edric's character and insecurities help the plot, because it ties back perfectly into the problems surrounding Covens & wild magic. Edric is a character who doesn't seem to be an ace or A+ student in Illusion magic, but rather a jack-of-all-trade who knows some stuff from multiple fields of Magic (Beastkeeping, Illusions, Potions) and likes to play with it and invent stuff. However, this kind of pedigree isn't particularly validated in their world's, and even less by Odalia (most likely) which leads him to feel useless or incompetent. Whereas, as Eda says herself, he could have "a great future in wild magic" !
This directly contrasts Amity who, despite knowing Luz & supporting her in everything, firmly centers her interest & future around Abomination magic. Which is just as valid ! Thus showing that over-specialization AND playing around with every field of magic are both perfectly valid way of learning, but one of these stay unorthodox and illegal under Belos' rule.
--> Even outside of his nefarious plans for the Day of Unity, this episode is a great reminder of how Belos' reign has harmed the witches world, and many teenagers are forced to join a Coven when they would be much happier dabbling into several fields, and end up feeling "wrong" or "not good enough" because of the mold they're forced into.
While I- wasn't a big fan of Emira jumping in front of Edric to ask for a T-Shirt as well ;; (sort of stealing his thunder & putting herself in front again) I do not hold it against her.
I hope in the future we'll have a Emira subplot to get a better handle on her character, but as of now it is likely that she suffers from the opposite problem : still a prankster but also stuck in the big sister position, and feeling the need to be the helpful & responsible one and take good care of her siblings if her parents won't. I don't think we have had the same Wild Magic vibe from her as we did Edric's so far however : she uses Healing magic along with her Illusions yes, but this is still very in line with the ''responsible big sister'' energy that she carries and not some for fun/curiosity skill that she would have picked on simply because she wanted to like Edric seem to have.
Being twins & more often than not being together is a double-edged sword : problematic for the both of them, for entirely different reasons. So I hope that Emira will find a place outside of her family as well and if possible an adult to count on ! I don't know if Eda is that person for her, and if joining the Bad Girl Coven is her answer (it'd still put her & Edric right next to each other, so I don't know if that would be my favorite answer personally). But I have full hope we will get our answer in the future !
Final Point : I had to comment on this after seeing some people pick up on it while I didn't but...
-> About Sharing your burdens with other :
The way they handled Luz's difficulty with sharing her problems and fear of being a burden, the details... were all perfect.
The "immediatly trying to downplay the gravity of whatever you're trying to say before even starting". The carefully controlled & matter of fact delivery to hide the wavering of her voice. How ready she is to brush it off in case Amity isn't interested in delving into it. And how what makes her voice crack is the painfully small & almost inconsequential line of "and I don't have any flowers"
Because listen, I don't have Luz's backstory, and my problem doesn't reside so much in distracting myself from my problems as much as it is not being aware of them in the first place. But, and I'm sure many people can agree... I relate to this behaviour very much.
I'm a very positive person in general, I'm fine more often than not & I rarely realize when something is wheighing on me or only after 3 more problems have piled up on top of it. Sharing something wrong or genuinely sad & important feels almost alien : i never know how to even start and nothing feels natural. So I end up automatically saying I'm fine, and then it's kind of too late to get back on the subject isn't it ? But when I do share, or when the bad stuff starts to snowball & I have to acknowledge it, it always starts to crack with one small inconsequential line like this. And that's the case for so many of us !
Because of course the problem isn't just that Luz doesn't have flowers, but that's an issue so... simple and palpable. So concrete.
It's easy to ignore big imposant problems, but the small ones always manage to dig under our skin and make our throats close up like this. It's never the flowers, or the "you didn't talk to me yesterday" or the "my uncle didn't ask anyone what kind of gift i'd like". It's everything that surrounds it, follows it but that you're unable to tackle without first cracking about the small stuff. The voice acting was perfect, and I felt so much for Luz at that moment
-> About Grief & Luz's family : and FINALLY, by answering our questions about Luz's dad, this episode helped to broaden Luz's character & make her family seem all that more real. Several time already, The Owl House has jested & rejected the concept of Chosen One : but Luz's dad was still a mystery and some people already imagined that it would be a big plot point. And now we see... it isn't. Or it is, but only in how his death impacted Luz and contributes to developping her character. Because it means back on earth, it really was JUST her & her mother, through no fault of her dad.
At the same time, it does good to Camilla's character. She tried her best, as a lone mother, grieving her husband, trying to be there for Luz. And it makes the end of Yesterday's Lie all that more heartbreaking because her "Did you hate living with me that much ?" takes a whole other subtext with that information in mind. Did she fail ? Did she not manage to be there for her daughter and make up for her dad's passing ? Camilla had a husband and a daughter, she lost one to death and then the other to another world without even knowing it. She had both and then she had neither. She was left alone without even knowing it.
Really, this information & this episode in general did so much for so many character : incredible job here TOH crew.

I've always wanted to do this so drop me some characters to draw
nooo hunter come back your new parents just dropped
Seeing this makes me sad.
Now it's almost coming to an end. The people who worked on the show are leaving and this post on Twitter definitely implies that everyone is done and now season 2-3 are in production and being animated.
This show has helped me through some tough stuff in my life. Every week I would hog the T.V just to see an episode. I know it's childish but I loved the show.
I watched every episode on its air date. I rewatch episode after episode to the point where even my family would be so annoyed of the theme song. They always said, "your watching that Owl show again!?".
Hours upon hours I would make theories and predictions. I made so many theories, some of them were so stupid but I had so much fun. Hell, the show inspired me to make this Tumblr.
I was and am still obsessed with the show. I will never forget the day where I literally binged the show until the early hours in the morning. Or when me and my friends would talk for hours about the show.
This show is just incredible.
Amazing reputation with Lumity and Raeda. Our first gay relationship that isn't implied but actually seen and talked about.
Mental health awareness like with Hunter and Eda's curse and its metaphor. I have rarely seen a kids show tackle what this show tackled with Eda as a character.(with some exceptions like SU or LOK, Ect)
Our first Nonbinary character in Disney history that isn't a robot or something like that. It's an actual person! Having a Nonbinary character in a cartoon is BIG. Especially now. And Raine is that character.
Finally one of my favorite messages in the show. You dont have to have the same blood to be family. Yes, the found family trope. I love that trope so much and this show does it so well!
There is so much more I could say about how amazing this show is but I think everyone in this Fandom has said it before.
I know when the show ends I'll eventually find something else to watch but like many other cartoons I watched in the past, I will hold this show close to my heart.
Until then, I will watch the show when new episodes come out. I will continue to make theories. I will continue to make fanart. I will continue to love this show.
Thank you Owl house
And Fuck you Disney.
Hi friends! I've been wanting to share these for some time now; Some boards from #TOH S2- Eda's Requiem. My final boards tend to be SUPER clean and I want to share with you some of my roughs...my natural state.
I'll post some cleans boards soon.
So, I saw a post some weeks ago where someone pointed out that Hunter teleports a lot. He certainly does, and I’ve been thinking about that.
In Separate Tides, he doesn’t teleport during the short fight he has with Eda and Luz, but he mostly just dodges their attacks. When Luz tries to hit him with fire spells, he dodges first, and only strikes back after that. And then, when they’re both on the ground, he uses his staff to move the sand beneath them to hold them above the Boiling Sea.
In Hunting Palismen, when he’s fighting Kikimora, he’s mostly teleporting around her and only actually hits her about four times. She hits/tries to hit him more times than he hits her.
Here’s part one of all my Owl Fight attacks! This was so much fun to participate in :D
Bonus (from the Luz and Marcy prompt):
"Hunter isn't trying hard enough to be redeemed"
"He betrayed Amity 2 times"
"Hunter still needs help but not from Amity".
Hmm...I DISAGREE!!
So about Hunter "Not trying hard enough", he actually did try,2 times to be exact, and guess what happened those 2 times...
And not only that but the fact that he opened up to Luz in "Hunting Palismen"
Only for her to share his identity to the world! And not only that, she called him a "bad but sad boi" and now Eda's teasing him! (Not to mention he's a coven head so if someone knew they'll-)(What happens if rumors got out of Hunter using wild magic? Belos don’t kil-)
Imagine trusting someone, and then realizing they wanna be your friend, and you now have a friend! And then that friend goes out to share ALL YOUR SECRETS TO ALL OF HER 10 CLOSEST FRIENDS! (That was not what Luz was trying to do but that's likely to be what Hunter was thinking) Won't you, have some trust issues after that?
I've already explained the manipulation scene, but I'll say it here anyway.
"Come back with results or else...you can figure out the rest" -Hunter (Eclipse lake)
"Come back with results or else...we're done" -Amity (Eclipse lake)
That red arrow CLEARLY means turn back
Those 2 charts mean results cuz you put results on a chart
And the bat and the sad cat means Luz (aka, the bat) leaving Amity (aka, the cat)
And who would think of just spinning it around right? Hunter doesn't know "Human culture". He was most likely projecting himself onto Amity without knowing it.
Why didn't he accept Amity's offer?
First thing, he did accept it (or want to) but then he saw the key, and ooohohoho, all those thoughts just went straight away. Why?
Option A (for Amity), is just a chance game (This is Hunter's perspective btw) he could choose it just for the CHANCE of maybe finding someone that would actually care for him. Since Amity said, quote:
"But there are people out there that won't make you feel worthless, you just...have to let yourself met them."
(So Hunter needs to wait until he can find someone like that?)
Option B (for Belos), get the key, there's a 100% chance he will be happy. Belos cares for him. And if he just gives Belos the key then and there, there won't be any waiting needed! Belos is right there and he loves him!
And option A (Amity) has some flaws too, The Owl Lady absolutely hates him, and (as shown in the earlier scenes) ignores him even when he tried to help her! Luz hates him now for trying to steal the Paslismen, and she just called him a "Bad but sad boy". They even teased him about his lack of magic! And he only met them for like an hour. Plus, all the good interactions with them are only like- three minutes or at MOST 15 minutes (cuz of interruptions like Kikimora and the key).
Belos on the other hand loves him! He's important to Belos, and unlike the others, Belos would never say anything about him being "Powerless". Even though he IS still hungry for eye drops and Hunter does have some...But Belos adopted him, and he's been living his whole life with Belos. Why would he chose The owl gang after Belos has cared him for all his life and they- just insult him and say some words of encouragement? And he doesn't even know why Belos is dangerous (and is planning to harvest his teeth to the Titian! (joke)).
And it is hard (saying from personal experience), Very hard, to cut off an abusive person- it's just not that that easy as, POW, done. And even more so in Hunter's case since he's a "Powerless witch" and could never survive on his own/without a home. (Have you seen how DANGEROUS this place is? The fairies can eat your skin! Hunter "no magik boi" won't stand a chance!).
And he also acted out of instinct, (aka Golden guard side) and he wasn't thinking properly since he just had a mental breakdown and was using the things that he's known before (aka teleportation, the hand...not to mention he was using a different staff but was so desperate he somehow knew how to use it-), I mean seriously- Hunter you could have just levitated it away!
Someone needs to give him some good interactions (for a few hours at least) and teach him about how bad Belos is. And Eda needs to stop bullying Hunter, because (According to Newton's law) you can only push at something as much as it can resist your push, so in the end, you'll have this barely supported Hunter that just moves out of the way when the actually good interactions come. (And most of the owl crew probably doesn't even know that Belos is manipulating Hunter and thinks that Hunter is the guy that's being bad)
So if these kinds of bad interactions continue, Hunter may never be redeemed...(Unless if Rascal comes in but...there's Belos(Honestly that bird is the only thing that's keeping him happy and is the only good relationship he ever had!))(Not to mention, Belos is also the only other good relationship he had) because if he thinks that "friends" are only meant to hurt him and make him sad...he won't want any friends. And if these continue, we'll lose Hunter, and all we'll have left is a brainwashed and Belosy Golden guard...
And I'm scared that that's what gonna happen since most of the owl crew probably doesn't even know that Belos is manipulating Hunter and thinks that Hunter is the guy that's being bad...and Hunter's gonna think that they're bad ones, until it's too late...
Can I get a round of reblogs? Cuz I spent like, 3 days on this...
In honor of trying to save the owl house and get a season 4, imma try to boost the hashtag. It’s time for an Eda appreciation post, it is long over due 😌.
Love this milf with all my heart
My grandmas (who are sisters but both raised my mother so that’s why I call them both grandma) are twins. They’re both pretty much Lilith and Eda. The grandma who was born first is literally JUST like Lilith, while my grandma who was born second is JUST like Eda. I also have an older sister, who is just like Lilith, with me kind of being Eda.
The fact that Lilith Clawthorne is the older sister seems so very not correct to me. Lilith Clawthorne has the most Younger Sibling energy of any character on television this FEELS like a typo.
so hollow mind huh
[image ID: a digital drawing of Eda and Hunter. Eda is leaning over Hunter's shoulders and is holding out a Bad Girl Coven t-shirt over his torso, with a gentle smile on her face. Hunter is looking downwards at it with his eyes wide and mouth slightly agape. His hands are up by his shoulders in surprise. The background is a series of concentric abstract shapes with light pink in the center and gray on the edges.]
