It’s not your job to solve the climate crisis. It’s not my job to solve the climate crisis. It’s the corporations who are responsible for 80% of the world’s carbon emissions job to solve the climate crisis.

Over half of global industrial emissions since 1988 can be traced to just 25 corporate and state producers.

You are doing fine. Don’t let corporations make you feel bad for “not doing enough.” The fact of the matter is we can’t do it all. Nobody can.

Speaking out against these corporations and forcing them to take action is going to go way father than switching to a reusable water bottle. If you can, absolutely do both. But recognize that unless corporations take accountability, our swaps won’t make that big of a difference.

Let go of the idea that diy will inherently look shit. All your clothes are handmade you just don't see the people doing it.

I wish more people would post pictures of things that are used

Backpacks with patches, well worn sweaters with darned elbows, beat up water bottles and tee shirts with more holes than fabric. I want to hear people talk about their oldest possessions with all of the excitement of influencers posting a haul. I want people to be excited about the idea of having things with the type of character that can only come from years of companionship and memories.

You CAN be eco friendly with tech!!

Use energy saver mode

Dont keep your pc and chargers plugged in when not in use. Better yet, get outlets that can switch off.

Buy energy efficient products

Replace parts instead of scrapping the whole product, and when it is beyond repair, recycle or sell for parts

Replace your phone battery instead of buying a new phone

Buy used/refurbished. They’re just as good as new, but youre not contributing to more demand

Try to buy local

Buy sustainably sourced accessories or ones that can be easily composted or properly disposed of

Use Ecosia to plant trees while you search

Use wildhero to plant trees with your email

Limit AI usage

I was talking to my dad about renewable energy and he was like “the only problem with solar farms is they take up so much space.”

And it made me think about a city and how much sun exposure all the rooftops in a city get and…why not just make the city it’s own solar farm by putting solar panels on every rooftop?

It’s solar and wind and tidal and geothermal and hydropower.

It’s plant-based diets and regenerative livestock farming and insect protein and lab-grown meat.

It’s electric cars and reliable public transit and decreasing how far and how often we travel.

It’s growing your own vegetables and community gardens and vertical farms and supporting local producers.

It’s rewilding the countryside and greening cities.

It’s getting people active and improving disabled access.

It’s making your own clothes and buying or swapping sustainable stuff with your neighbours.

It’s the right to repair and reducing consumption in the first place.

It’s greater land rights for the commons and indigenous peoples and creating protected areas.

It’s radical, drastic change and community consensus.

It’s labour rights and less work.

It’s science and arts.

It’s theoretical academic thought and concrete practical action.

It’s signing petitions and campaigning and protesting and civil disobedience.

It’s sailboats and zeppelins.

It’s the speculative and the possible.

It’s raising living standards and curbing consumerism.

It’s global and local.

It’s me and you.

Climate solutions look different for everyone, and we all have something to offer.

“It Is Not So Much For Its Beauty That The Forest Makes A Claim Upon Men’s Hearts, As For That Subtle

“It is not so much for its beauty that the forest makes a claim upon men’s hearts, as for that subtle something, that quality of air that emanation from old trees, that so wonderfully changes and renews a weary spirit.”

If you're feeling anxious or depressed about the climate and want to do something to help right now, from your bed, for free...

Start helping with citizen science projects

Explainer: what is citizen science?
The Conversation
Public participation in science is increasing, and citizen science has a central part in this. It is a contribution by the public to researc

What's a citizen science project? Basically, it's crowdsourced science. In this case, crowdsourced climate science, that you can help with!

You don't need qualifications or any training besides the slideshow at the start of a project. There are a lot of things that humans can do way better than machines can, even with only minimal training, that are vital to science - especially digitizing records and building searchable databases

Like labeling trees in aerial photos so that scientists have better datasets to use for restoration.

Or counting cells in fossilized plants to track the impacts of climate change.

Or digitizing old atmospheric data to help scientists track the warming effects of El Niño.

Or counting penguins to help scientists better protect them.

Those are all on one of the most prominent citizen science platforms, called Zooniverse, but there are a ton of others, too.

Oh, and btw, you don't have to worry about messing up, because several people see each image. Studies show that if you pool the opinions of however many regular people (different by field), it matches the accuracy rate of a trained scientist in the field.

--

I spent a lot of time doing this when I was really badly injured and housebound, and it was so good for me to be able to HELP and DO SOMETHING, even when I was in too much pain to leave my bed. So if you are chronically ill/disabled/for whatever reason can't participate or volunteer for things in person, I highly highly recommend.

Next time you wish you could do something - anything - to help

Remember that actually, you can. And help with some science.

Can you spare a minute to help this campaign?

pls sign this!!!!!!!!!

this project will be disastrous for our planet. it will release the equivalent of 260 million metric tons of carbon pollution and will bring great harm to the almost pristine ecosystem of the NPR-A. it is estimated to result in the loss of 532 acres of wetlands, 619 acres of habitat disturbance for polar bears and more than 17000 acres of disturbance for birds.

Eyo people

When buying yarn for craft like crochet or knitting (or anything) try to buy recycled/organic cotton or hemp, bamboo, linen, wool, alpaca, cork, ahimsa silk or recycled silk, tencel, you can also recycle your own yarn!. Do your research as well because all yarn fibres are different. Please don't buy acrylic or anything with polyester or plastic fibers

I think we need to normalise trying to be sustainable. The amount of people who just don't care about the environment around them astounds me. Some people don't care that the $700 temu haul doesn't degrade because everything is made of plastic. They don't care that the tree they just dug up has been there longer than they have been alive. They don't care that most of the food they buy comes in plastic that hasn't been recycled and will take hundreds of years to degrade. They don't care about native fauna and flora that are going extinct.

PLEASE READ!!! I DON'T POST STUFF LIKE THIS AND THIS IS SERIOUS TO ME! ELON MUSK IS TRYING TO DUMP THOUSANDS OF GALLONS OF WASTE WATER INTO THE LAGUNA MADRE IN SOUTH TEXAS!!!

The Laguna Madre is a beautiful ecosystem that houses so many species of wild life and many migratory species of shore birds go there to eat and rest. Its all thanks to the sea grass that grows there, and after the big freeze of Texas in 2021, it is slowly making its recovery and now it's in danger again!

PLEASE READ!!! I DON'T POST STUFF LIKE THIS AND THIS IS SERIOUS TO ME! ELON MUSK IS TRYING TO DUMP THOUSANDS

(Black Skimmer with chicks shown here)

If Elon continues with this disguising act, nitrogen and hydrogen rich waste will be dumped and plankton and algae will begin to overpopulate and create a cloud of themselves over the sea grass causing it to not get the sunlight it needs to photosynthesize. It will basically be suffocated by the overpopulation of microorganisms and die out and so many species of animals will lose that shelter they need to feed, breed and even escape dangers like predators. This grass also feeds the endangered green sea turtle and was even given the name "Turtle Grass" for its huge importance to these creatures.

PLEASE READ!!! I DON'T POST STUFF LIKE THIS AND THIS IS SERIOUS TO ME! ELON MUSK IS TRYING TO DUMP THOUSANDS

(Green Sea Turtle grazing) Not only that, but the South Padre Island is one of the largest ports in America and has many shrimping and fishing companies that rely on the environment to make a minimum wage. And once the water gets polluted, so many people can get sick or worse if they eat the fish and shrimp that have been exposed to it!

PLEASE READ!!! I DON'T POST STUFF LIKE THIS AND THIS IS SERIOUS TO ME! ELON MUSK IS TRYING TO DUMP THOUSANDS

(South Texas Shrimping Boats) This is serious! And if you or someone you know lives in Texas there is a way you can make a comment and state how you DON'T WANT LITERAL SLUDGE IN THE OCEAN! IT WILL HURT THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE AND ANIMALS AND THE VAST AND DIVERSE ECOSYTEM THEY LIVE IN!

You can find the link here:

PLEASE DO WHAT YOU CAN! WE CAN'T LET MUSK DO THIS!!!

We need more trees in suburban and urban areas. They create shade for people and habitat for wild life. In overdeveloped areas which are just flat Concrete and asphalt temperatures can get really high.

Also if ur going to have a lawn, please native grasses and plants because these give habitat to bees and native wildlife.

Plastic or fake grass can get hot enough to give third degree burns and is a danger to pets and children.

Ink Drawing Of Ideas For Improvement For My City

Ink drawing of ideas for improvement for my city

I’m not a city designer this is just what I think would be cool - don’t come for me lol

Diff things u can see looking closely:

-solar panels shading a pedestrian crossing (we have a lot of ppl who walk on the side of the hwy)

-rain runoff goes into garden w/ grab n eat plants

-support columns have wedges on sides for nesting since the birds are already shoving themselves into the crannies of the underside

-water mill since we have a fairly big river

-buildings have smaller-scale wind turbines and/or solar panels to support their energy output

-more plants in the city itself! Not just pollen producing trees

-there’s a light rail that goes thru the nearby cities

-continuing to protect the “protected wildlife” areas

Arright My More Experienced Friends, I Need Some Brainstorming. Some Ideas, If You Will.

Arright my more experienced friends, I need some brainstorming. Some ideas, if you will.

One of my favorite sweatshirts has finally gone from “I’ll just say this spill happened today” stained to “This is a paint shirt” stained

But. So has a whole load of my laundry. So! I want to save, at the very least, the whale and some of the flowers (embroidered directly onto the fabric, from Jeana Draws).

I have no idea what to do though. If it was a patch, I’d remove it and place it somewhere else. If it was just the sleeves or just the body, I’d just remove one or the other and see new bits on. Alas, motor oil and a machine washed chapstick have attacked both.

Any ideas on how to recycle these bits into something else wearable?

My Solarpunk Piece I Did For A Contest.

My solarpunk piece I did for a contest.

I sat down in a circle of people and we were each supposed to describe what the future would look like. I was so sad to see so many people seeing the future negatively.

And that’s why Solarpunk is so incredible. It fights the dispair in our minds, gives us hope and urges us to do something good for the future, for us.
