Also swearing and not instantly sister-zoning all women in his life.
The real reason why DMC Reboot Dante never felt like Dante is because he never got impaled.
I believe Dante would wear anything if he thought it’d look good on him.
Headcanon: Dante—when he has the funds—will hop pizza parlors. On those rare occasions, he discovers a dish that provides the right type of sensory stimulation. He’ll get a take home order, or two (or ten), of said dish in the largest size available.
Morrison shows up with an influx of jobs. The broker emphasizes the need for a demon hunter, capable of discerning between demonic threats and mere humans in elaborate costumes. Though tempted to refuse, Dante decides to accept the entire list of jobs.
It’s his most productive day this year. Today’s clientele seems more appreciative. In addition to the payouts, the demon slayer receives items usually meant for trick-or-treaters. Bags of candy—including an entire basket of full size candy bars, a Tupperware with pasta, another container with a slice of cake, an entire foil pan with homemade brownies, a dozen sugar cookies, and a bottle of Jack Daniel’s. Some of the affluent clients provide additional monetary compensation. It’s twilight by the time he gets back. He gets to work stashing the food items. Those close to him were more than welcome to dig in.
Dante summons Cavaliere again. Intending to use the rest of the day for his initial plans. He stops at a small pizza parlor across town; a tan building with a few tables sitting at the front outside. The sign reads “15th Street Pizzeria.” Flickering red and white letters are indicative of the need for repairs. Cavaliere disintegrates. He makes his way to the entrance. Torn black and orange decorations adorn the shattered windows.
“Sparda…” a reverberating growl drips with venom.
With a sigh, he summons the Devil Sword Dante.
“Die blood of Sparda!” It leaps above his head.
He makes short work of his assailant. Blood splatter, fur and viscera litter the surrounding area. The employees and customers are found cornered in the kitchen. Trapped by a muscular bat-like creature, almost as tall as the ceiling. It’s clawed hand reaches for one of the patrons, only for it’s head to be cleaved off.
Dante is lounging in his office chair, feet plopped on the desk, when Morrison pays another visit to Devil May Cry.
“Someone’s been looking for you,” the broker states. “The name “15th Street” ring any bells?”
Assuming it’s another bill for property damage, the question elicits a groan from Dante. Before he can say anything, a middle-aged man wearing black pants and a red t-shirt enters the building. He introduces himself as the owner of 15th Street Pizzeria, rambling about how he spent weeks searching for a tall, white-haired guy with a giant sword.
“You tracked me down because?”
“Well,” the man awkwardly scratches the back of his head, “to say thank you.”
Dante stands up from the couch. This had to be a prank.
The owner voices his appreciation for Dante saving the lives of his employees, the customers, and stopping the demons from destroying his business. He runs outside and returns carrying a couple boxes. After placing them on the desk, the owner mentions that he needs to go back to work. He bids the two men farewell, shaking both of their hands.
Dante carefully opens each box, making note of the toppings in each. Pepperoni. Cheese. Neapolitan. Chicago style deep dish with extra jalapeños, and no olives (courtesy of Morrison). The last one appears looks like a dessert, topped with caramelized pear slices and a white chocolate sauce.
Morrison notices Dante’s focus drift away from the pizza. “What’s the matter? Can’t process a random act of kindness.” He takes a drag of his cigar.
“Nah,” Dante turns to face him. “I just can’t decide where to dig in. That’s all.” He closes the pizza boxes and takes them to the kitchen. All five are placed in the oven at a low temperature, to keep them warm.
“Pizza party tonight then?” Morrison enters the kitchen and notices Dante bringing out paper plates. “I’ll take that as a yes.”

Question, how far would Dante from Devil May Cry make it in dragon ball? Its implied or stated (forgot which) that he literally SELLS his extra arsenal in between games, so just.. Assume its Dante with every weapon he's collected, including the yamato, running a gauntlet of dragon ball villians. Where does he stop? Does he even get to frieza?
mood
Dante deadass spent this entire episode brooding because Patty got mad at him </3
Sweetheart it’ll be ok if you apologize to her for the joke you made stop overthinking.
Honestly yeah, its really wholesome.
Also great analysis!
Thinking about how fucking ridiculously kind Dante is.
Trish lured him to Mallet Island through manipulation which lead to him “killing” (we know Vergil survived but he didn’t) his brother but he still forgave her and offered her his kindness, empathy, and even trust and friendship. His kindness impacted Trish so much she was able to become her own person outside of Mundus’ influence. Speaking of helping people change for the better, in DMC X he fights Credo and even though this guy is out for his blood he only wants to help him change his ways and manages to convince him to do the right thing. Which I think is what lead to him protecting Nero in his last moments. The canonicity of DMC X isn’t stated but considering the fact that we know Dante was originally supposed to have a longer campaign I can’t help but think a lot of the stuff in that game is remnants of those scrapped ideas.
He very openly felt bad for Griffon when Mundus killed him despite the fact that he’s loyal to the guy who killed his family and even gave him a respectful sendoff in DMC5. Generally he’s known for roasting his opponents but he still has a level of respect for them which I think is cool. In the first novel he even laments about the people who had to die on his missions, as he despises unnecessary bloodshed even if it involves bad people and popularized showing mercy among the other mercs in the business.
In the anime he often takes on jobs for free out of the kindness of his heart and is happy just being able to help people who need it even if he’s broke. Most of the money he DOES get goes to victims of demon attacks like Grue’s daughters and Enzo who lost his arm because he feels immense guilt for not being able to do what he feels like is enough for them.
He’s shown to be very protective of the younger generation through Patty and does everything he can to shield her from seeing him fight demons because he doesn’t want her to be traumatized like he was at a young age. He does the same thing with Nero, really, trying to keep him from fighting Vergil because he believes the result will either be his nephew getting hurt or him killing his own dad and having to live with that trauma like he did after he thought he killed Vergil. The way he looks at Nero and Kyrie fondly at the end of DMC4 before leaving Fortuna, he was willing to do whatever it took in order for Nero to keep that happy life with her. (Side note, Dante grew attached to Patty like, immediately. 15 minutes in he’s like “WHERES MY DAUGHTER?!” He’s so silly like that.)
It’s nice to see Nero is following in Dante’s footsteps too. In an interview it was stated Nero only really stepped into action in DMC4 because he wanted to protect Kyrie but in DMC5 we see a much more mature Nero who cares about civilians too, my favorite example being how he offered a total stranger food because he assumed he was just hungry. Dante in DMC3 was in a somewhat similar situation, though he was obviously a lot more selfish starting off than Nero ever was until he matured by the end of the game and took on the role of humanity’s protector like Sparda. It was his journey of “waking up to justice” like his dad.
Uhh… yap over. I typed this at 3 AM.
you can't help but squeal and cover your face with your hands, face beginning to burn.
"what?" he says, but he can barely even get the word out as he laughs, pretending to act perplexed.
"you did it." you spread out your fingers to peak through them, staring at his hands as he pulls out of the drive way
"you're crazy," he tries to tell you seriously, eyes flitting to the rearview mirror then to yours before switching the gear from reverse to drive to pull out of the driveway. he nudges his head in your direction. "pay attention to the road or something. didn't even do anything."
you can only huff at his words.
it's only when the car pulls up to the parking lot of the grocery store does he feel your eyes boring into him again. he has to bite the inside of his cheek to stop himself from smiling as he looks around to find an open slot before placing his palm onto the top of the wheel and rotates it counterclockwise with ease.
he can hear you giggle as he resets the wheel, the leather gliding smoothly across his palm. he can only shake his head in disbelief.
"you did it again!" you shout in excitement.
"something's wrong with you," he laughs out loud, the car rumbling beneath you guys before turning off the engine and leaving you in the car so you don't see that stupid grin growing on his face. he nearly loses all composure when you catch up to him, latching onto his arm and looking up.
"pretty damn cool if you ask me," you compliment. "and hot."
all he can do is ruffle your hair, trying to distract you from the burning he feels on the tips of his ears. "you're lucky you're so cute."
