While she tended to the numerous smaller injuries to his body, you focused on bandaging his limbs, making sure they were wrapped snuggly into stumps.

Of course, you weren't worried about him getting any infection since, well..he was dead. He couldn't catch the common cold even if he tried.

But you knew that he's been insecure about leaking blood everywhere and grossing out everyone he met, so you decided to do something about it and let him into one of your clinical rooms at the Pokémon Center.

Being a nurse who helped patients with traumatic injuries had its perks, as you knew exactly how to help your boyfriend.

However, it was only now that he decided to trust you enough to do this. He used to flinch at being touched before, and so for him to approach you and finally agree to this brought you relief.

He allowed you pull off his hat, jacket, and shirt, leaving just his shorts on before you got to work patching him up. You could see how flustered he was, cheeks turning pink despite his expression remaining blank. But he didn't complain once, simply nodding when you asked if he was okay so far.

However, after giving Chansey a treat for her good work before sending her out of the room, you were confused when Gold seemed...even sadder than before.

He didn't look happy in the slightest, staring at his covered wounds with a frown.

"What's wrong, love? You look sad." You remarked, gently running your fingers through his hair. When he didn't answer you, worries began clouding your mind. "If you need anything else..please tell me. I'm here to help you, no matter what."

"I feel...fine, but...." He stopped, looking down at the bandages on where his legs would've been. "I....I could just use a hug. But I know I look...d-disgusting...so.." His breath hitched, tears of blood leaking from his eye sockets as he began regretting such a stupid request. "Forget it...I-I don't need anything else.."

Your heart broke at the fact he thought that about himself. But then again...this was probably the first time he was seeing himself after his death on that mountain. He had been stuck in those same clothes for years until you came along.

Now with most of them off, it reminded him that he's just a limbless frostbit corpse...and always will be.

How were you not grossed out?

"Gold..." Frowning slightly, you sat beside him and pulled him into a hug, feeling him shake with quiet sobs. His skin was freezing cold, but you did your best to keep him warm. "You don't look disgusting to me at all."

"..I-I don't..?"

"No, I've seen lots of stuff in my career so..this doesn't bother me at all." You carded a hand through his hair. "I'm just glad you trusted me, sweetheart."

Hearing you call him that left Beautiflies in his stomach. No matter if you said it once, or a million times..that will never fail to make him flushed.

It didn't help matters when you kissed the top of his head, although he eventually relaxed in your arms, head against your chest as he listened to your heartbeat. And he closed his eyes, for once not feeling anymore pain.

He thought he was beyond help, but you proved him wrong.

Like maybe they didn’t know what it was and reader explains to them that she didn’t get those types of feelings and they would rather just be friends with everyone instead going around looking for a romantic partner and if you could use they/she pronouns I would be very grateful.

*you were a little hesitant to tell him, since you’ve had backlash before, but you knew he wouldn’t make of you, so you told him what it meant

*Lost Silver listened intently to your explanation, that you’re not interested in going around and looking for a romantic partner or anything, just friends

*and he takes a moment to process, before he smiles at you and tells you that he’s happy you told him

*and he’s proud of you for coming out to him!

Glitchy Red:

*Aroace sounds familiar to him, like he has heard it before, but he isn’t really sure

*he isn’t sure how it got brought up in a conversation, but he had ended up asking you about it, since you’re familiar with the outside world than he is

*You were a little unsure whether or not to tell him at first

*but seeing as he wouldn’t leave you alone until you told him, you told him what it meant being aroace, and that you were aroace

And I hope you don’t either, anon! I’ve had a lot of experience making mary sue ocs, self inserts and the like and at any rate, I round them out because I need it to stay invested, and for others to. But that’s for me, and I do my best not to pull others down because of that, because everyone has their own things they like to do! I struggle with it sometimes, because I have anxiety over my characters being good. I make comfort characters for the exact purpose of giving them as many tropes as I want, as many edgy facets and powers as I want so as not to be tempted to give them to my other characters, but that doesn’t mean that they’re any less valid nor lovable.

And you know what?

I’m a fanfiction writer! I make content for a fandom that’s based on tropes! If people are gonna harass others for that, then there’s a big ol’ block button calling their name, alright? So even though I personally try to round out my characters for my own reasons, if you don’t want to, then you shouldn’t. Because everyone’s characters, no matter how developed, no matter how “edgy”, are VALID. 

Keep making your OCs, and make them however you want. If someone tries to tell you they aren’t valid? Let them cry and sob over it. You are in control of yourself, and they can’t do anything about it.

Your best is good enough.

You can focus on making yourself happy first,

You get to have fun with your own characters,

You can work hard and come out with a result that you cherish, no matter what others tell you.

Never, ever let anyone drain you of that. Your characters are perfect how you like them. 

I hope this doesn’t come across as too rant-y! I just feel your struggle, it’s a really hard mindset to break and so seeing it being reinforced hurt a little bit. But the amount of positivity coming from people because of this is absolutely incredible and it’s why I love this community so much!

Don’t let people like that get you down, alright? I agree, it’s draining, and it’s so very hard to ignore the negativity, but remember that 10 good thoughts can outweigh 1 bad thought, so keep surrounding yourself with people and characters and such that make you happy and content. Because in the end, that’s what’s most important.

We’re here because we want to have fun. We want to share ideas, we want to share our love for a work of fiction.

Be it team fortress, or anything else.

How would Sniper react to seeing the new (female) who nobody really had any hope for surrounded by the enemy, crying her eyes out and begging for mercy, then suddenly this big-ass honey badger runs up, doing the chitter-scream, and starts kicking ass?

Sniper, if he were drinking coffee while watching through the scope, ready to kill whoever is terrorizing the new mercenary, would immediately spit it out and grab a camera.

If he doesn’t have either, he’ll be cheering from the sidelines and making sure the honey badger doesn’t get itself hurt. He knows how vicious honey badgers can be, so he’s not entirely worried since the rest of the mercs are already yelling and screaming in terror. 

How would Spy react to not being able to find his knife, only to see some little kid messing with it?

SMALL CHILD WIELDS SHARP OBJECT, LOCAL SPY CONFOUNDED!

His first feelings would likely be of confusion, anger, followed by seething rage when he noticed his knife was missing. After all, he was the Spy, no filthy pickpocket could simply take it. There was no way he had forgotten it either, as he triple checked his belongings and kept them on his person at all times. Being in public, there was no way for Spy to necessarily do much about it. He couldn’t just shout “WHERE IS MY KNIFE?!” To the world, and so he forces a deep breath and begins to search, splitting off from the team and looking about without garnering attention, as if he were merely a tourist.

At first, he had expected to be looking for any suspicious individuals, not anyone barely up to his middle in height. Yet, after a minute or two of scanning the room, there had been no other options, and right there. A lone child, holding a knife.

They were practically begging to be yelled at, dragged by the ear and taken to their guardians for such a bold defiance of all things he held dear, yet… It seemed the child had no parents in their midst. They were enthralled by the blade, flicking it between their fingers and trying to get the butterfly knife to do a trick or two, the light metal clattering far less satisfyingly in their smaller hands. Yet, while not masterful, the little kid treated the weapon with respectful caution, lacking precision but aware that their plaything was dangerous and sharp.

Spy found himself staring, rather than doing anything about it. Nothing about their appearance resembled his son, it wasn’t as if he had reason to not snatch it away and be done with it, yet here he was. Perhaps he saw a bit of his younger self in their eyes, or in the way they had healthy caution for the unknown, yet played with it anyway. 

Eventually, he exhaled and wandered over to the child, unsure what angle with which to approach the situation. Putting out his cigarette and kneeling down to get to eye level, he left a hand outstretched for them to return the knife, frowning.

“This is mine, mon petit, may I have it back…?

The child seems afraid, immediately shocked that they were caught. They shake their head, mumbling a “noo…”

“And why is that?” He has to force himself to be patient. Interacting with children is not his forte, but perhaps it feels like a second chance.

 Reminding himself this is a stranger, but unwilling to walk away without at least getting his knife back, and giving the child reason not to do such a thing again.

They blink, looking down at the butterfly knife. “Cause it’s pretty and feels good to use… Whus your accent from? S’all sounds pretty...”

Spy, shocked by the answer, goes silent, before sighing.

“Well, it is unwise to play with dangerous objects, mon ami. And… It is French. Do you know French?”

“My momma was from France! I knew I recognized th’ talking…”

“And where is she now..?”

The child’s expression immediately falls, and Spy needs no verbal answer to know what may have happened.

“Have you any other guardians?”

They shake their head, pointing down the road towards the old orphanage, shrugging sadly.

“Don’ matter, s'alright…”

There was the anger again, but now tenfold. Not at this child, but at himself. Of course he had to converse with the child, feel protective, now look at him. He had a job to do, he should have just grabbed the knife and went on with his day. 

When they finished talking, and Spy had left, there was a hollow feeling in his chest. Guilt, was it? Insecurity? Knowing the effect of not being present, it felt as if perhaps he was being given a second chance, yet he wasn’t sure how willing he was to throw it away.

Returning to the base, there were quite a few phone calls made to Miss Pauling, then the Administrator herself. Paperwork, negotiations, how in gods name would he work this out- Convincing Miss Pauling to allow a child into the base-- so long as battles were separate and hidden from their view, had been a breeze, but it was the Administrator, a cold, cruel hag of a woman whom he knew would take issue with the idea. It was to the point that he had been conversing through the night, even just in his white button up and suit pants, but he continued to talk.

What would his teammates think? He dreaded to find out, he merely hoped none of them would question it or tease him, but he knew he would come under fire, if only because he was the Spy, an uncaring, cold, emotionless figure.

At the very least, he knew he had time to pass, since the time in which it would take to get the paperwork in order, a new room built, etcetera, would give him ample time to learn more about who it is he was about to bring to the base.

That next day, a child wakes up to a gift by an unknown donator, all they know is it was a man with a vest and tie, with salt and pepper hair, inside of which is the materials to make the popsicle stick butterfly knife, a soft rabbit plushie, and a note written in a very simple cipher for them to solve.

“Pack your things in two weeks, If you see a woman in purple, she is your friend.”

hi, I saw your primal chic beauty post and want to recommend a deodorant that goes with all the values you speak to and is actually better for your skin and environment and so insanely simple: potassium alum salt!!! I buy mine from Holland and Barret and it is just a rock that I use after the shower and makes my sweat odourless (good thing is that I still sweat so it means it doesn’t block my sweat glands/not antiperspirant)! No harsh chemicals, pure natural source and dare I say economically very friendly. Wanted to contribute to you just like you’re generous with us with your knowledge/advice!

Hi Nonnie! I love this! And for people who sweat lightly potassium alum salt is a wonderful alternative, I enjoyed crystal and Thai 100% Crystal however, with my job I wear very light blue scrubs (Ciel blue, the same color as the residents in Greys Anatomy) day in and day out and I sweat heavily, so for those like me looking to avoid visible sweat marks, I reccommend switching to a non-aersolized solid antiperspirant stick from aersolized products like dry sprays. My Dove 72-hour stick is cruelty free, alcohol free, and PETA approved, and it is gentler but similarly effective to the clinical strength sprays I used to use without the propelants and air pollutants.

For our comfort and our ability to stick with a more sustainable option, we sometimes have to take smaller steps, like eliminating aersols. Let's use sunscreen as an example: I could switch to an unscented zinc mineral sunscreen rather than my current titanium oxide fragranced sunscreen, but I'd be less likely to bother wearing sunscreen if I didn't like the feel of the sunscreen product I use, so I switched to the lotion formula from the aersolized one, and when I switched to Sun Bums aersolized formula it was because they lacked certain chemicals that cause damage to reefs that my Neutrogena spray had.

If we dive straight into the most ecologically gentle option and most minimalist skincare, we may become discouraged because of negative results we have and then decide to go back to our least ecologically friendly option, vs if we balance sustainability with personal comfort, we're more likely to stick with those more eco-friendly options and gradually continue our journey to even more sustainable options.
