I know some of you are reading this comic without ever having seen Rise. Now, to understand the future plot, I recommend you watch the Rise of the tmnt movie (on Netflix) or at least read its plot on wikipedia haha. Seriously. You don't have to watch the whole show, just the movie, it takes about an hour and the context from the comic will be enough to understand what's going on there:)
