I Feel Like Rewording These In Some Situations Could Be Helpful.

i feel like rewording these in some situations could be helpful.

the way that these are often phrased makes them automatically worded negatively: “still” “un-employed” “doesnt” “didnt” it all assists in the effect of the insult, when none of these things are inherently negative or wrong.

this isnt to say you should have to reword these facts. but you can, if you want to start re-scripting the way people see your life, possibly including yourself.

saying just, “i live with my family.” instead of “still” implies it as more of a statement than a complaint. also saying “family” instead of “parents” may help in some situations as it puts you all on the same level, saying parents makes some people think you are being childish, when in fact you are all adults.

when it comes to “unemployed.” its a bit tricky. if you are searching for work, you can easily just switch it out for “im searching for employment.” or if you are studying instead say that. but if you are like me - where neither of the above apply, you can try things like “im working on my health.” or “im trying to discover my passions.” etc.

“doesnt have …” or “didnt do …” can easily be changed to “i chose my health” “i chose a different path” or “it wasnt right for me.” these are all options to switch it from something you failed at, to the thing that you prioritised or can do instead.

Can we stop using "still lives with their parents" or "unemployed" or "doesn't have a drivers license" or "didn't graduate high school" as an insult or evidence that someone is a bad person? Struggling with independence or meeting milestones is not a moral failing.

Disabled and chronically ill people are allowed to enjoy things and do things they like (if they’re able) while still being sick and disabled. Yes, even if they aren’t employed. Hope this helps.

this i always feel like theres basically two versions of “cant” because sometimes people say cant and they dont actually mean that.. they just mean its hard. and then they assume i also mean its just hard.

it genuinely so. so. no even have word for it. so profoundly exhausting that anytime any disabled person talk about can’t do something—full, wholeheartedly can’t, absolutely can’t, under no circumstance can, if no one help them or do it for them it not get done n they suffer whatever consequence include dying—that it always get FLOOD by so so many “same it SO hard for me but no one help so have to force do by self” n “am i? actually? not low support needs? because all these stuff u talk about so hard for me too n no one recognize it so have do it by self :(“ like you all not get it n not even know you not get it n not sure you all even capable of get it, n, ironically this time do mean, that genuinely, absolutely, no matter what happen, can’t

i just wanted to say you're not gross if you deal with gastrointestinal issues. even if people treat your symptoms and disorders like they're disgusting, they're not. they're genuine health problems- health includes your entire body. if you are having issues digesting/processing foods, eating, controlling your bowels or having diarrhea or constipation issues or frequent gas and bloating, you're not gross. if you need a colostomy bag, you're not gross. if you need to use diapers you're not gross. if you frequently vomit you're not gross. if you deal with acid reflux and chronic heartburn you're not gross.

people and even doctors will treat people with these kinds of issues like we're disgusting but we're just people with health issues. a GI issue is no less worthy of attention than a broken bone. it doesn't matter where it's located in the body you still need help with it. there are many issues people can have with digestion that aren't necessarily "gross" and they don't deserve to be looked down on. you deserve care and respect from everyone in your life. you don't deserve to be treated like your health problems don't matter

what abled ppl think is a massive problem for disabled folks: 13 year old on the internet faking something

what is actually a massive problem for disabled folks: "well you don't LOOK disabled, are you sure you're not faking? I'm not giving you accommodations until you PROVE you're not faking. Please give me, a stranger, your medical info and explain your condition to me in detail so I know you're not faking and only then will I respect or take you seriously"

any other invisibly disabled people really struggle to use the disabled bathrooms 😭

if there is a queue i quite genuinely need to use it, but when other people leave the queue for the regular ones to use the disabled i have no idea if they are also invisibly disabled so i never like, interrupt and say i need it yk djshjd

i do wear my sunflower lanyard but random people in bathroom queues rarely know what that means

just pls if ur able bodied i understand it may be annoying to wait in the queue but if you dont need the disabled bathroom pls dont use it

idk its just a hard situation to navigate for me fnkdn
