You know. I just got really sad and got a angst idea looking at this.

Warning: commandant's death, blood, Idk how sad it will be but sad. Thats all I can tell you.

It's honestly the only thing I can think of right now

You get dispatched with the gray ravens to a mission. And it's harder then you expected it to be.

Or rather. You just underestimated the corrupted. You were completely surrounded and lost liv and lucia on the way in

You and lee were slowly losing time and room to escape. All escape routes being blocked off by the corrupted. It's like they knew what to do.

While you didnt worry much about lucia and lick since they had already transferred their MIND back to HQ what concerned you more was Lee. If he started the process now he would surely be interrupted and by how the corrupted has been moving right now his inver device would be destroyed in an instant

You being you. Wanted a simple thing. For Lee's MIND to make it out safely.

The two of you tried to keep your distance from the corrupted which was successful but be as successful for so long

"Lee. Start your MIND transfer process."

"What?"

"Start your MIND transfer process."

"Why."

"Start it. Now. Do it while we have time. If they get any closer I'll deal with them. Just trust me and start it."

Lee knew what was happening. The corrupted closing in, blocking out all passageways, the commandant ordering him to transfer his MIND to HQ?

Commandant was planning on staying behind while lee was safe

"I cant do that. My job is to keep the commandant safe while the mission is completed or failed. I cant leave you behind."

"Does it look like a situation we can argue in? Lee. Just shut the fuck up and please do as I say. Just right now. Please."

Lee looked at you in shock. It was the first time you had ever talked to him in such a way. But he understood why

Under such a pressure of losing someone and danger slowly closing in. You can only hope for the best and wish that some things would work. And the something is for Lee's MIND transfer to be successful

"I'm sorry commandant..."

He truly was. He promised himself that he would protect you. But here he was. Fleeing all by himself while the commandant bleeds out fighting to keep him save.

"I swear. I swear I will come back for you. The moment it gets transferred. I'll. I'll come back for you commandant."

You looked back with a smile. "I'll be waiting then. Dont take too long."

He narrowed his eyes. He wanted to tell not to say such things. But he couldnt. The transfer was complete and now there was only the shell of a frame left behind. You were now there alone without help. The chances of you being shredded to pieces were high. No. You most likely were by the time he got to you.

But.

Who is this that hes thinking of right now?

What?

What was he even thinking about. He should be focused on getting back to work and polish his weapons and get ready.

"Lee. Theres no time to polish weapons and repair parts, we have to go back down and retrieve what we can and continue our mission there."

"Mission...?"

"Lucia I think the reboot process for Lee ended up in him losing parts of his memory."

"I dont think that matters at the moment. If it's a mission we need to carry it out and take care of it. Let's not waste time and get to it."

"Lee? Do you know where the commandant and you were last at?"

Lee looked at lucia in confusion. He didnt understand. The last time he had seen commandant was in the previous mission. But after that... was nothing. He couldnt remember anything. At all. The reboot process really wiped out his memory from the current mission. How awful.

"No I do not. But if the commandant is missing we should hurry and find them."

"Let's go."

Upon arriving at the scene they came across the battered and empty frames of lucia and liv. Many corrupted lay broken and defeated. The more deeper they entered the more corrupted they found. Just what had happened here...?

Clearing out all corrupted they came across they finally reached the last room they have yet to search. Lee stared. Why did this room feel familiar? Was he here before? While he was still a human...?

When they cautiously opened the door, the three of them were hit with the strong smell of blood. Human blood.

What laid in the corner was their commandant. And a broken down frame of lee. Surrounding them was the many dead frames of the corrupted. Each and everyone of them with a bullet through the head.

"What... took you all so long... I thought I was going to die... taking down all of these one at a time... you better carry... me out of here..." you let out a bitter laugh with a sigh as you closed your eyes

Lee felt proud that commandant had defended themself very well but that didn't last long as liv inspected the commandant's injured body.

Well. There was no point in doing so. The large pool of blood should explain almost everything. You had just finished bleeding out. Just how he thought you would.

He knew you would bleed out if he left you here, yet.. and order was an order... he couldnt disobey. But... would it have hurt to disobey that one time? It's all flooding in. The mission. The task. The objective. Lucia and liv.

Then commandant. He had left them to die. Here. If he had disobeyed maybe. Maybe it would have been him and not commandant.

Approaching the now lifeless body he lifted up the body by its shoulders. Pulling it into a tight hug. One that the body would not be able to return. This was the last one he would give you.

Pulling away from the body. He picked up the body and carried it out.

Know what lee was doing lucia and liv searched the room for retrivals

Soon lucia and liv exited the site to see lee has finished burying you. He didnt want to take you back to HQ. He couldnt pinpoint exactly why... but he didnt.... he couldnt.

He ruined the promise he had with you. Broke it. He promised to himself that he would protect you and look at what happened. Now you just lay under the ground. Cold. And lifeless.

All because he obeyed the orders from a commandant. If he had ignored the commandant title and stayed with you, then maybe he would have been able to stall time for you. It could have been him and not you...

I have a fat fucking feeling I fucked this over but like. I really wanted to write this out because holy shit this has been with me for the longest time. Sorry if this was scuffed as shit I really just want to put this out here and like just wanted to see what kind of end I would come down to.

To summarize what happened, the gray ravens left for a mission that they had underestimated. This ended up in the entire time having to transfer their MIND to HQ to keep it safe while their inver device were still intact. All three were successful but you ended up dying through exhaustion and just bleeding out. Lee had internally promised to himself that he would protect you and at that moment had made another promise that he would come back for you. Which he failed both. You died and he came back too late. In that temporary moment of leaving HQ and back to the mission his MIND reboot had caused him to lose the entire memory of the mission. He forgot everything. What happened. And especially you. After getting a little memory jog of the mission site and you the brief moment of memory loss went by and he regained the memories. They arent pleasant at all. Not at all. If he would he would just not remember it. In the end he let's you rest but not in the HQ. In Earth. At the end he regrets making promises and just obeying the commandant's orders. He wishes that he didnt see you as a commandant at that moment and sae you as someone to save.

I'm sorry again for the fact that this was scuffed. I'm not the best at writing and I tend to just throw out whatever just comes to mind and this is probably going to be one of the best examples of it. Anyways. Have a good day/night.

Day 1: Broken Promises - Childe

Warnings: Character death ig?

Day 1: Broken Promises - Childe

"You--" His eyes were full of hurt and betrayal, and he cried two words into your chest. "You promised."

How had it come to this?

You and Childe had been planning an anniversary for the two years you've been together, and you had to laugh at his childish excitement. But he had just kissed you lightly on the cheek and skipped off. You could almost see the flowers and sparkles he left in his wake.

The both of you had made plans to go to Xinyue Kiosk after he picked you up from work.

Today's commissions were nothing new, just a couple of balloon sabotages, a few requests, and-- oh. There was an emergency, and it required you to defeat a ruin hunter.

You bit your lip, worrying it between your teeth. Was it worth it? You could try and see if Childe had any debts near there... No. You shook your head, slapping your cheeks gently. It wasn't worth it to pull Childe away from his work.

So you set off, leaving that commission for last. The rest of the commissions were easy enough, and you found yourself standing before the ruin hunter's alleged location soon enough.

The place was suspiciously empty, and you walked in slowly, readying your weapon. You just had to paralyze it and rip its core out. A quiet, mechanical whirring reached your ears, and you spun around...

And immediately jumped to the side.

The ruin hunter didn't wait around, launching a series of attacks that you barely deflected or dodged. You were getting fatigued, and the ruin hunter... well, it could hardly get tired, could it?

"Y/N!"

You turned, the voice catching you off guard. The rusty blade cut through your side, igniting an explosion of pain and startling wetness.

"Y/N! Oh shit--"

Dimly, you were aware of Childe falling to his knees beside you. He pulled off his scarf and wadded it up, pressing it against your side.

"Stay with me, Y/N."

A thick, cottony numbness was starting to spread, and you brushed your fingers against your side. It came away red, and you turned away from them, sickened by the sight.

"Y/N, talk to me," Childe pleaded. Water nudged at your side-- Childe's own brand of healing-- and a pleasant warmth spread through you. It poked and prodded and lacked none of the finesse that healers usually possessed, but it was Childe, and that was enough.

You opened your mouth, trying to say something, anything, but Childe's face melted away, leaving you alone in the ruins.

The ruin hunter clicked methodically, and you swore it was laughing as it raised its blade for the final blow. You smiled sadly, closing your eyes.

Forgive me... Ajax.

---

"Lord Harbinger."

"What is it?" Childe wiped blood away from his face and sent a wave of water rushing down his arms and clothes, rinsing off the worst of the gore. His voice was colder than the snowstorms of Snezhnaya, and he took delight in how the recruit cringed.

"The new recruits are ready for your briefing, sir."

"Take me there."

The click of his boots was deafening against the wooden podium erected in the middle of the snowy forest, and Childe raked his eyes across the crowds of black clad agents, huddled into their winter coats.

"Today, you are inducted under my order. From this day forward, you will honor the oaths you have made to Her Majesty the Tsaritsa, and you will stop at nothing to bring Snezhnaya to victory." The memorized speech slipped easily from Childe, and he surveyed the visions glinting in the dull Snezhnayan winter light.

"You shall sweep through this land like the icy winds of the furthest north, as strong as the hoarfrost of Zapolyarny Palace. You will chill the very marrow in our enemies' bones." A glint of blue. Hydro? No, Cryo.

"Her Majesty expects of you loyalty, ruthlessness, and meticulousness, for the trials that we face are harsh, and our enemies are naught but obstacles in the Tsaritsa's path to her noble goals."

Childe paused for a moment. Yes... why not? You weren't here, after all. No one to temper his bloodlust. He summoned his blades, which hardened into ice in the winter air.

A crazed smile made its way onto his face. "Now, let's have a celebratory spar, shall we?"

---

Boring. Boring, boring, boring.

No one gave him a challenge. No one put up a fight. No one... No one came close to you. He was about to dismiss his blades, but he heard the creaking of a bow being pulled back. Slowly, he turned around.

Your determined face stared back at him. Those eyes, those frostbitten and chapped lips, and the steady pulse of your Cryo vision.

A sign.

He stumbled towards you, closing his hand around the arrow you had nocked in your bow. The cold was so extreme it snapped at his skin, and he heard your muted gasp as he drew close.

"Y/N?" He croaked.

You made a questioning noise, tilting your head to the side-- the way you always did when he asked you a question. "Lord Harbinger?"

"You--" His eyes stung with snow and tears, and he cried two words into your chest. "You promised."

hello, fellow omi-omi stan! buttt I'm afraid I'm here to ask for a genshin fic hehe

if you do multiple characters, what do you think of diluc + kaeya + zhongli + childe finding their s/o dead after defending their child? the kid is alright, but the s/o, unfortunately, isn't.

the heartstrings need a good tugging today I think. wonderful work with your fics btw ✨

loved, and loved, and lost you

a/n: oh MY i've been looking forward to doing this ask, HI OMI NATION HI, and i hope you enjoy the hurt i'm about to offer. tbh i don’t like how this turned out at all but oh well-

plot: the character finds the reader dead after protecting their kid

contains: diluc, kaeya, tartaglia

warnings: children (i know some of you hate that) death, mentions of violence, blood, traumatic experiences, self-blaming, panicking proceed only if you're comfortable with the topics!

tartaglia

even though he had been introduced to a big family at the very start of his life, and never imagine his own adult life any different, from a very young age tartaglia had his doubts about eventually becoming a father.

obviously, he had wanted that, and always had known he wouldn't feel as accomplished without it. his mindset, however, was doubted in his second year serving the tsaritsa. he was merely an agent, a damn good one, but still no more than a little agent, seemingly unrecognizable. still, as he watched one of the "enemies of state"' he was sent to kill die beneath him, the guy, coughing blood and staining the teenager's brand new uniform, muttered a sentence that was to be forever engraved inside ajax's, or later tartaglia's brain.

"tonia" the guy said, smiling, even in the face of inevitable death. the boy's glance turned from disgusted to fierce as he rapidly turned his attention to the dying figure at the sound of his beloved sister's name, sister's who was merely a little girl at the time, not even ten. "oh, so my research had been correct" the guy smiled "you better keep a close eye on her if you decided to do me like this. there will be consequences."

ultimately nothing bad happened to tonia, but it was enough to send the young fatui agent's head into overdrive, fear not leaving him for months, moral of the story overshadowing on all his future life plans.

that's when he decided, there was no family to even consider starting until he had left the fatui, and snezhnaya too, if possible. and even then, he still wasn't sure if he'd be able to put both his future spouse and the kid, or kids, in that kind of danger, how bad would that make him, right?

you, your smiles and reassurance, your lighthearted approach, your charm, all that fouled him into believing his teenage nightmares were nothing more than just that, into feeling safe, like the danger was no longer there. like there was no one on his back.

so there he was, a fatui harbinger, recognizable, feared and loathed by far too many far too powerful people. with a family.

there he was,

"my lord?" a quiet, almost frightened voice was heard throughout his cold office.

"more courage, or i might not hear" he joked, still not lifting his gaze from the papers he had yet to fill through, a young mage from his own squad approaching him with a device.

"it's about the security cameras you had installed back at your house" she mumbled, startled by how fast he had turned around. he reached out a hand, urging her to pass him the screen.

the video was blurry, and in a very bad quality, but he still could make out the three figures standing in his living room - one, he didn't recognize, presumably a man, tall and with a covered face, two - obviously you, three - your daughter on the floor, hiding behind the table leg. he could feel the blood in his veins speeding up like almost never, visibly distressed by what he was watching.

"what the fu-" he wanted to say, but was interrupted by a voice from the video.

"send lord tartaglia my best regards" the deep voice stated, before his arm swayed forward, and just like that, your body fell to the floor with a dull thump.

everyone present in the office felt shivers run down their spines, watching closely as childe's eyes widened in shock, some could swear tiny little electric sparks escaped his tight grip on the device, before he threw it across the table, leaving in a hurry, not even bothering to throw his coat on.

he raced his way to the house, ignoring the burn in his chest, and vision blurrying with tears immediately after he wiped them away.

no.

no!

this wasn't happening, it was for sure a cruel prank, either scaramouche's or dottore's, both of these lazy bastards would for sure be able to come up with a plan as twisted. there was no other option.

no, he refused to believe this. he was so cautious! for once in his life, he cared about security guidelines and procedures, he went to incredible distances to hide whatever personal information of yours might've been leaked somewhere. hell, he even accepted all your fights and tantrums over how secretive and stressed he was. all of it, he did.

hence, there was no way that he would actually see what he saw on the tape when walking through the-

the first thing he heard was a string of faint "wake up" 's coming from a throat soared by screaming. the next - choked up cries, sentences slurred beyond recognition.

he leaned against the doorframe, feeling blood rushing away from his head at the sight before him.

he wanted to scream, too, he wanted to run out and find whoever did this, whoever forever stained his home with blood of the one, the only one he truly loved. he wanted to burn the world to the ground, with all those bastards along, doesn't matter who did it. everyone who ever dared even turn a bad eye on him deserved to be slayed by the wrath of his blades, everyone deserved to face justice-

that was all that filled his mind, up until his terrified gaze locked with the one of his only daughter. her huge eyes were red and glossy, and her hands shook, stained with crimson red blood.

"hey" he attempted to calm his voice, kneeling down to her level. "hey, hey, hey, don't look there, look at me" he pleaded, his hands moving to lock her face from looking over at you.

"they're not- they're- they're not-" she struggled to say over the tears, and he nodded.

"no, forget that, everything is fine, we're fine. don't be scared, princess" he urgently hugged her, for he didn't want her to see the tears gathering in his eyes. "shh, you're safe, you're safe now."

he used the moment when she was forced to face away from you to grab your cold wrist with his hand, fingers moving to find pulse, but he couldn't.

he barely managed to stop yet another scream from coming out, piercing pain stabbing his heart further than any dagger. his own hands began shaking as he began truly realizing what happened.

he had hoped to sense a slight pumping of blood through your veins, he hoped there was still a chance, but the cold of your skin painfully reminded him that he came in too late. he failed. he failed, but why was it you who suffered the consequences?

his panic spiral was once again interrupted by his daughter who began to struggle to catch her breath over sobs.

"princess" he called out to her "you won't be able to breathe if you don't relax. come on, i'll do it with you. ready?"

he began slowly walking her through her obvious panicking, an encouraging smile never leaving his lips, though dispair and hatred seeped through his eyes, showing his wrath more evidently that words ever could.

"i- i don't know what happened-" she finally managed to say, him nodding along.

"it's okay. it's not your fault, sunshine, don't worry about it. let's- let's think about something else, okay? something happy? what always makes my little princess happy, hm?"

"i- there was a, a man, but- it’s so blurry-"

"baby, that man's gone, don’t worry about him no more” tartaglia forced out his most reassuring smile, even though all he felt was anger and pain, praying his daughter won’t notice.

all he wanted was to temporarily make her feel safe again, but the talent to deal with kids, the talent he was born with, basically, seemed to be nowhere in sight as he struggled to find the right words to explain the situation.

the girl then leaned forward to hide her face in his red scarf, a thing she used to do a lot whenever she was nervous or scared.

“you’re safe, sunshine, daddy’s got you now, okay?” he could feel his voice beginning to crack, but kept going, hoping he would last just one more moment. “my brave little girl. the bravest they make” his fingers played with the girl’s thin hair, the other hand running up and down her back in soothing motions.

from where they were sitting now, he could clearly look over at the floor, and see you. tartaglia was a man used to both death, blood, and violence, but for the first time in forever, he felt his stomach do flips at the sight.

how was it possible? how could he keep promising that little innocent girl that he’s gonna protect her, if he didn’t even succeed at protecting you?

his body shook and threatened to give out as he covered the girl’s eyes, scooping her in his arms and taking over to her aunt’s, where she would be safe and sound as he made sure everyone responsible payed a good price for ever messing with his family.

first, though, he had to return home, or more likely, his house, since no place was a home without you in it, and take care of, well, the scene. but without someone to soothe, without having to be strong for someone, being all alone with you and his thoughts, he couldn’t even collect himself enough to pick you up.

he fell down to his knees the moment he entered the living room, hand curled in a fist, and resting on your still chest, sobs escaping his throat at an uncontrollable pace.

“i’m sorry” he first whispered, and kept repeating until it became a scream. “fuck, love, i’m so sorry”

what was sorry gonna do for you now, he thought, all he ever did was apologize. it was all the fault of his stupidity and naiveness, how could he ever be so blind?

his back leaned against the wall as he cradled your body closer to him, hugging you the tightest he could, as if that was gonna bring you back to him.

what was even the point in becoming stronger, if no power he had was able to stop this? you fraud, he told himself, you’re still the same scared, sheepish little boy, you haven’t change a bit. you’re still as useless and still as weak.

and here’s your price for that.

kaeya

this man had terrible experiences with family. his biological father only used him, and left him alone. kaeya didn’t even call him by that title in thoughts, he had lost the right to call himself his father the moment he left the poor boy outside of the dawn winery hoping for gods know what.

it took years to warm up and feel welcomed in the wonderful family that took him in, but the moment he started to feel comfortable considering master crepus his father, the man had died, and his biological son grew to despise kaeya’s guts.

the boy didn’t even feel like he deserved to have time to grieve over the traumatic incident, since he was nothing but a liar, and home-wrecker.

so naturally, he didn’t consider himself to be a good father material. how was he supposed to know what to do? what proof did he have that he wouldn’t be as shitty as his own father? that he wouldn’t run away like him? obviously he thought he would never do that, but what if it was just fated? running through the blood of his biological family?

he panicked when he found out he didn’t have a choice anymore, and was going to be a dad anyway. he wouldn’t show it, not to you, at least, but he had been terrified to the bone, up until the kid was born.

all it took for his doubts and fears to go away was for his firstborn son to mindlessly grab his finger when he was first laid in his arms.

love so unconditional and strong that he felt dizzy swept him off his feet, leaving him speechless and dumbfounded. after that he was sure, he would rather die than fuck up like his own father did.

and so his life went on peacefully, minor fights with diluc being the only thing disrupting his newly found peace. for once, he was certain he wouldn’t come home to a cold home, because now not only did he have you, his love and lifeline, but also a little walking bundle of joy, happy every time he’d see him.

so imagine his surprise when he was greeted with nothing but silence, the type that rings in your ears and creates an unsettling feeling in your stomach.

“darling?” he called out into the room “ya home yet?”

slowly and carefully he started to examine the place, looking for any sight of you, but every room he entered was painfully empty.

“baby?” he asked one more time, coming into your shared bedroom. you weren’t there, you also weren’t in the bathroom connected to the room, so he intended to leave and look some place else, but a small voice made him stop in his tracks.

“dad? is- is that you?” the whisper was coming from under the bed, and kaeya turned over his heels with a confused look.

if he’s home, you should be too, right?

he knelt on the floor and bent to look under his bed, to find an absolutely terrified figure of your son, holding his knees close to his chest.

“buddy?” kaeya chuckled “what on earth are you doing here?”

he offered the boy a hand, and pulled him out of his hiding place, settling him in his lap, fixing his hair.

“why’re ya home alone? were you grounded? now, be honest with me” he said with faux seriousness, a gentle smile lingering on his lips, but the boy just wrapped his arms around kaeya’s neck, quiet cries leaving his throat as he sniffled and mumbled something the man couldn’t quite get.

“hey, hey. easy now, whatever you did, i’m sure i can negotiate and get you out of trouble.”

“my room” the kid whispered “something came into my room. something not- not human”

kaeya stifled at the words.

the abyss order?

no, that couldn’t be. why would they strike at his family home? he was just another one of the knights. his office would be a far more attractive striking point.

right?

“buddy, we covered monsters from wardrobes and from under the bed already, they’re not real, remember? uncle aether was just scaring you that one time-“ he kept explaining in a soothing manner, up until he pushed the door open with his foot. “holy fuck” he whispered, unconsciously covering the little boy’s eyes. “listen, chief, be a good boy for me and wait right here, aight?”

with that, he put the kid down, and closed the door right before his eyes, forgetting about the danger that could still be present.

he only heard blood rushing through his veins and his heart beating out of his chest, and only thought of you.

he rushed to your side, hands gently patting your cheeks to wake you up.

“oi, come on, don’t pull this on me” he laughed almost historically “wake up, alright, prank’s over, you won”

he shook your body for a good minute, calling out for you and denying the fact that was already getting to him, until he finally realized - you weren’t breathing, there was no pulse, and the water that mixed with your blood on the floor indicated clearly who was responsible for this.

a strained sob came out of his throat, eyes roaming to notice one of his swords in your hand, fingers curled on the handle.

you were- you died-

protecting your son?

“i should’ve been there” he whispered to the room, eyes wide and set on nothing in particular “fuck, i should’ve saved the both of you, if only i-“

there was no if only. he wasn’t at the bar, he wasn’t bothering diluc for no reason, he wasn’t out with rosaria. he was just doing his job, he was working, like any other day.

it wasn’t anything he did that was at fault here. no mistake was made, the only reason for your death was

him?

he suddenly realized, the abyss order came here for a substitution for him. if he was no <savior> material, then they wanted to make one of his son. it made perfect sense.

the only thing you did to deserve this cruel fate was to choose him, out of the hundreds of men in mondstadt. your mistake was getting close to him.

he was dangerous just by caring about somebody. a walking bomb, ready to explode at any given moment.

how could he forget that? he didn’t need to leave his son to fail him. he only needed to be there.

the boy had opened the door.

“dad…?”

“i thought i specifically told you to wait outside?” kaeya turned around swiftly and glared art the kid, causing fear to settle into his eyes.

he immediately shook off the trans he was in.

“sorry kiddo, i didn’t mean to yell. i’m sorry, aight?” he reached a hand out to the child in a calming motion. “come on, let’s get you somewhere safe”

“i don’t wa-”

“it’s not up for discussion” kaeya summed up firmly, taking his son’s hand a little too harshly.

diluc

there was really no one better you could choose as the father of your kids rather than diluc. it’d be a blatant lie to say he was a natural, but he had a gentle soul, hands as delicate, and a heart bigger than the entirety of mondstadt combined.

the arrival of your daughter onto this world was the happiest day of his life. she was like a whole new sun for him, shining on his days and chasing the clouds away from his mind.

the huge mansion that was dawn winery suffered from silence for ages, since him and kaeya grew up, and you and her brought the light it needed back into the building’s long forgotten corridors, laughter into it’s ballrooms and filling for its empty spaces. he could swear even the grapes grew better with the both of you around.

he was focused on making a rather complicated drink, back at angel’s share, one for a show for his customers. as he poured liquor over the brim of the glass, explaining what he was doing out loud, his eyes shifted to a panting figure that just ran through the door, opening it with a loud slam.

a winery worker? he thought, surprised, and leaned over to hear what the guy wanted to whisper to him, not shifting his attention from the glass.

he only put down the bottle once he heard the bottom of the message.

“what do you mean treasure borders?” he said out loud, eyes wide, already excusing the clients, calling over another bartender. he grabbed his coat and was out the door.

upon arriving in the winery, he was greeted with many terrified looks, and people cleaning up mess created by an obvious attack.

“why the fuck is no one working around here?” he shouted, while walking towards the winery’s door. “how many of you all men are here? can’t you stand your ground when faced with a bunch of small criminals? if you’re really all this soft and mushy then maybe i should do some firing?”

diluc was a gentle soul, but as they say, is always the quiet ones who’s rage takes over the quickest.

“master diluc, i do sincerely apologize-“ the second-in-command of the winery, an old man, at that, started, but the red headed man just sent him a calming look.

“forget it. has anybody checked on my wife and spouse?” he asked, routinely, or so he thought, because the butler’s face went white, as he replied:

“aren’t they on a… on a trip?”

diluc’s eyes widened once more.

“no, no they’re not!” he raised his voice again, steps speeding up into a run upstairs, to where your rooms were. “love, are you both fi-“ he started, but no more words would come out.

in the middle of the floor sat his nearly ten year old daughter, your head laid on her lap, helpless whispers of begging for help filling the room. your weapon was lying somewhere near, but had been tossed aside rather thoughtlessly, and a lot of drawers around were opened, as if someone had been searching for gold, or other goods.

in a second he was near, checking pulse, breathing, trying desperately to help wake you up, as your daughter kept shaking her head, telling him she had already tried it all, her words falling onto deaf ears.

“wake up, wake up, wake the fuck up” he prayed and repeated like a mantra, his begging resulting it nothing at all.

“dad.” she tried to make him focus, but to no avail. “dad!” she yelled louder, his eyes locking with hers, and just like that,

he saw a younger version of himself inside her pain-filled gaze. he felt as if he travelled back in time, fifteen years, almost, and looked in the eye of the young and vengeful diluc ragnvindr, who’s sword had just been stained with the blood of his own father, emptiness being all that filled his mind, his eyes wandering in search for any solace, never to find anything of the sort.

he saw his own anguish, his own pain, his own internal cry for help that never really came. but what would he say? he, an adult, at peace with his emotions, what would he say to a younger spirit in such need of both consolation and a way to let out the anger constantly rising in his gut? what were the right words he desired to hear all those years ago, and why did he suddenly not remember anything?

how could he stop the trauma that he knew so damn well from infecting the heart and soul of his beloved daughter as well?

he could feel himself failing in the archon-sent role of being a father, yet he didn’t know how to turn back from the road he was entering. he only knew to keep himself collected, so that she could panic all she wanted. but how could one be collected at the loss of his one and only love, his whole life?

“hey” he whispered, grabbing the girl’s hand. his thumb stroked her skin gently, as he sighed, regaining himself, moving over to check up on her. “are you hurt?”

was a good start.

there are times when you’d notice your boyfriend spacing out. considering how overwhelming his life has been, kazutora cant help but feel lost sometimes, in life and thought. so when he leaves your shared bed in the middle of the night for a long ride, you dont question his action at all. you’d wait for his return, fully aware of his search for a sense of peace you’re unable to provide.

one of the times when his aimless wanders would go further than any others is the night before his birthday. you’ve been together for years, but on every morning of 16th july, you’d find his side of the bed cold, as if he’d never been there at all. he’d then come home with a fake smile plastered on his face, and your heart broke into pieces.

when the next 15th july rolled around, you prepared yourself yet again. except it didnt happen like you’ve expected. that night, kazutora held your hand in his slightly trembling one, eyes dancing with a mixture of emotion, ‘come with me?’. you didnt even bother to change out of your night dress.

and as the memory of the wind howling alongside blinding headlights, roads and sceneries gradually became unfamiliar and fast beating of your boyfriend’s heart underneath your embrace burned to your mind, you felt like you’ve entered a fragment of his world that he had kept hidden away.

'we’re here’, he said as you scanned the unknown land. the 'here’ in front of you presented itself in the form of a vast grassy field on a cliff overlooking the sea. the stars above accompanied your long, silent night of waiting. and if he didnt caress your fingers with his callous ones, you’d thought that he had forgotten that you’re there at all. before long, the world faded away as you drown in the sound of his heartbeat next to your ear.

morning greeted you with feathery kisses by the salty breeze and warmth of your boyfriend’s jacket that had shielded you from the chill of the previous night. 'good morning’, you sat up, expecting nothing in return. only to feel his lips connected to yours in a long, delicate kiss, it left you breathless.

'another year for me to live’, kazutora sighed softly, a familiar emptiness in his eyes. a silent 'another year i dont deserve’ left unuttered. caressing your fingers for a few moments, he continued, 'i’m sorry i made you wait for so long. i-’. you captured his lips in a desperate kiss, wanting him to stop thinking, needed him to.

'i’ll wait for you forever. as long as you need, i’ll be there for you’. your eyes met his in a pool of tears. 'so dont ever apologize!’, your voice broke, and his own tears that he had been holding back spilled down his cheeks in a steady, unstoppable flow.

'is it really okay for me to keep living?’. instantly, he’s in a tight embrace you’ve pulled him into, whispering, 'more than okay’. you kept holding him close as he wailed his heart out until he’s reduced to a delicate, sniffling mess.

on your laps, his eyes were puffy from crying for too long, dried tears on his red cheeks. but there’s a soft smile on his lips as he gazed up at you. 'you can say it now’.

his smile widened to the sound of your sweet laughter that makes his heart flutter every time. leaning down to place a kiss on the tip of his nose, you felt your own heart skipping a beat. 'happy birthday, my love. thank you for being in my life for another year’.

kazutora caressed your chin with his thumb, intertwining your fingers with his in another hand. 'no. thank you for being in my life at all’. connecting your lips with his once again, he’s finally found his peace.

You remind me of Diluc, for some reason. The sorta canon Diluc where he's pretty mellowed out (until the story picks up) and talks nicely, calmly to the Traveler. And then a rule is broken and your kinda cold (as you should, a rule was broken)!

*gasp* DILUC?! Somebody said i remind them of diluc?! Idk if i should be honored or confused, but anw yes i kinda agree on you.

Please, reblog! IIt’s called self defense. Apart from having here, in the US, one of the highest cases of homicide and rape in the world and high rate of GBV, think about how this could help your mother or sister

Diluc, teaching Y/n how to drive: okay, you're driving and see both Childe and Lumine on the road. Quick, what do you hit?

Y/n: oh, definitely Childe

Y/n: i can never hit Lumine

Diluc: the breaks. You hit the breaks.
