"And into the forest I go, to lose my mind and find my soul" - John Muir
Light redraw of an old drawing (light cause not much changed but the pose lol) . Older version is under the cut!
Been editing and touching up some of my old OC references for my senior portfolio as opposed to re-drawing them. Mostly this includes fixing line art, adding proper clothing folds instead of the random ones I did bc I had NO IDEA what I was doing, fixing some anatomy stuff, and redoing some details here and there. And I figured I'd post the updated references cause why not 🤷♀️
As a quick introduction, this is my oc- the lovely Lady Salem Blair (she/her). Shadow witch, socialite and politician, smooth talker, magical prodigy, and lover of elegant things. She was quite a well known figure in political and well to do circles when she was alive, though that's not to say she was well liked by everyone.
Prolly the other two most important facts about her was that she did in fact do a lot of spying and sabotaging in her time, usually herself but sometimes with a little help. And that she was the mother of some of my other ocs, the Crow Triplets.
Quick run down of her runes (sigils)
Lock- Prevents anyone but the caster from opening or moving whatever the rune has been applied to.
Mute Sound- When activated, mutes sounds made by (or, within a certain radius, around) the wearer for a certain time frame. (thanks to @nicstylus for the suggestion with this one!)
Protection- Reinforces clothing against both (certain) magics and physical attacks.
Glamour- When activated, gives the wearer a shimmering flair. Not practical but very fun!
Disruption- Disrupts (low level) magical eavesdropping, locating, and otherwise spying attempts.
Shapeshifting- When applied to an object, allows a user to channel their magic into shapeshifting magic. Works best with masks or objects worn on the face.
rb to give your mutuals a silly little paper valentine card and a red heart shaped lollipop 💖

"She was standing inside the Secret Garden. It was the sweetest, most mysterious-looking place anyone could imagine." - Pages 96-97 of The Secret Garden.
Another Illustration for class! We were meant to select a scene from classical literature and illustrate it. I chose "The Secret Garden", specifically when Mary finds the garden!
Hey what drawing software do you use, specifically brushes?? Your linework is scrumptious!!!
Hello there!
First off, thank you for the compliment! Glad to hear my linework is enjoyable! :D
I primarily use pressure brushes when drawing, specifically a size brush for line art/linework and an opacity brush for some light rendering. Currently I'm using Photoshop (though I've been thinking of testing out some other programs soon) so those would be the "Hard Round Pressure Size" and "Hard Round Pressure Opacity" brushes found in General Brushes. I've found the size brush is very good for both subtle and evident line weight variation. Thank you for the ask, I hope my answer makes sense!
Part 2 of me using this meme for my ocs (Part 1 here).
Warning for my really, really old art from when I first stated drawing and also blood + cigarettes this time around!
It's Thorne Crow's turn!
So of the Death Omens characters I'd argue Thorne has gone through the most change. When I first made Thorne I was really into making agile, assassin like female characters. She was supposed to be quick and nimble rather than an absolute powerhouse who brute forces her way through every fight. I also loved suppeerrrr long hair back then. It was about a year or so after that original drawing that I decided to give her a change. I wanted Thorne to be more of a brawler type character, for her to have a tough/rebellious vibe, and for her to look like she's gone through some rough situations to get to where she is today. She got a broader/muscular build, her signature vest, more scars, and her hair got chopped short. And all her following updates/redesigns would follow that same trend (with small changes to color palette and hair length; her first redesign gave her essentially a pixie cut in comparison to her current wolf cut, for example.)
There has been a few things that've stayed the same however. The hunter brand on her arm, for example, has made some changes in appearance and location, but its always been there. She's also always had her dark hair, a cigarette on hand, and a knack for gathering a concerning number of injuries during a fight.
(Also her long hair has made a comeback before, in an au design!! Ironically she is an actual assassin in this au lol)

Hope you don't mind me answering this over here rather than my fandom blog! Wanted to draw a mer!Thorne design in response ^^
To answer your question- my first thought was immediately that Thorne would be a shark mermaid! (and more specifically, a Great White Shark). Making her one of the ocean's notable hunters seemed fitting.
There's not a whole lot of species specific notes for the design itself to be made- her tail moves side to side like most non-mammal aquatic creatures, and is countershaded (not seen here but the dark coloring stretches across her back and starts fading just as it gets to her neck). I don't know if the gills should logically be on her neck instead, but I really, really love torso/chest gills. And ofc she got the teeth and a big ol dorsal fin on her back.
She still gets into a lot of fights and trouble as a mermaid, so her tail is covered in additional scars. How many of these are from humans/fellow mermaids and how many are from sea creatures? idk lol. I just know the sharp teeth definitely make her more of a menace.
But ye that's about it. Thanks a whole lot for the ask @rainbowprisimatic!! <3 It was super fun getting to draw Thorne as a mermaid lol.
A drawing of Wyborne for @crypticrainbowmoss for Artfight this year!
Art from this semester! I got to do a really fun project with my printmaking professor: I made a digital design (very right), had it laser cut/printed onto some plywood (center), and got to print it out onto paper (very left)!
The big mushroom in the center is based on a Fly Agaric mushroom (think the traditional mushroom with a red cap and white spots).
