Someone told my ex-dad (not a sex thing; he just disowned me) that I’m trans and now he’s threatening to come to work and make a scene, and I know I should be upset, but like. What’s he gonna say exactly? And to whom? Because imagining a haggard and likely shitfaced Pennsylvania construction worker barging through the grocery store like, “HEY!!! THAT BROAD-HIPPED 5'3” EFFEMINATE KID WITH THE CONSPICUOUSLY BIZARRE NAME WHO SPEAKS IN A CARTOONISHLY AFFECTED CARICATURE OF MASCULINITY AIN’T GOT NO DICK!!! YOU GONNA BUY SCRATCH OFF TICKETS FROM SOME KINDA DICKLESS ABOMINATION??“ is wild. What’s it going to accomplish? Or is he gonna call my manager? “HELLO, I’D LIKE TO REPORT A FRAUD IN YOUR DELI DEPARTMENT. THERE IS NOT SAUSAGE AS ADVERTISED.” What the fuck.

I have so many thoughts about this Johnny Depp case. If you watched any of this trial you would know that the evidence simply did not point to Johnny Depp beating the shit out of Amber heard the way that she was saying he was and her claiming such was defamatory. Like objectively the evidence just was not on her side. I’m happy Johnny Depp won because it was blatantly clear that she was the aggressor in this relationship and there are even multiple recordings of her saying that she was hitting him. The fact that she took advantage of so many women’s pain and suffering to lie to torpedo this man’s career out of spite is absolutely disgusting. To try and capitalize on such an important and needed movement in history thinking that she would just be believed and that would be the end of it sets women back in decades. Because now all the misogynist and all the abusers are gonna point to this case and say “women lie”. So many victims are going to suffer because of her. I am absolutely disgusted by this. And to all the people who are happy that Johnny Depp won simply because he’s Johnny Depp, I urge you to look at this again and reevaluate why this is positive. It’s not that Johnny Depp prevailed, it’s that the victim of domestic abuse prevailed and was granted justice. domestic violence victims can come in all sexes all genders all races all nationalities. There’s even a recording of amber heard insinuating that no one would believe that Johnny is a victim of domestic assault simply because he’s a man. The saying should have never been “believe women” the saying should have been “believe victims”.  for once I’m glad that our justice system worked like it was supposed to and granted justice to someone who was suffering. 

one of the most important things i’ve learned in therapy is that when you’ve experienced prolonged trauma in your childhood, pleasure feels uncomfortable. like, not that you don’t feel it, but that when you do feel it there’s an impulse to make it stop, because it’s extremely unfamiliar. and pleasure can mean many things, as simple as feeling cozy, and as complex as feeling loved. the neural pathways for feeling good have not had a chance to develop, and the neural pathways for feeling bad are quite practiced. feeling good, too, takes conscious practice.

So... it finally downed on y'all that Rick Riordan portrayed pocs inappropriately? Are we surprised a white cishet man from usa wrote poc from a point of ignorance in a problematic way? Come on! Pocs have been criticizing him for years but y'all wouldnt LISTEN.

I'm not really into cancel culture because it doesnt work. This people dont get "erased" from history, their mistakes get erased while their art lives on - they should be acknowledged and held accountable. And I understand people make mistakes and they should have room to grow. But what irks me about seeing "he tries" type of posts defending him is that he doesnt. Maybe when he wrote the books a decade ago he was trying, and well intentioned. I can understand that. And yet if you read his "apology" you'll see he isn't trying anymore. Hes done growing and caring. Instead of writing "I get how it can be offensive, I didn't know better back then, knowing what I know now I would've written this characters differently" but no, he tried to defend it and stood by it. He needs to be held accountable. He needs to know this is not okay. Stop defending him with "the books were very subversive/progressive for their time" that can be said for a lot questionable works of fiction (like Harry Potter or To Kill a Mockkngbird for example) and it doesnt make it right. If we were just talking about what he wrote ten years ago it would be different, we could say that he wasnt being racist but that hes portrayal of poc was problematic for his lack of information, but no, he decided to take the racist label by steppping in and taking a stand defending his previous mistakes and not listening, and trying to decide over poc what is racist - instead of acknowledging he made a mistake and moving on. We grown folk but hes not being mature or "trying".

I know ya'll dont really care about politics if its not USA stuff but the world should know that Lopez Obrador, Mexico's president has said on national tv that he wants to close down the INE (the national electoral institute) claiming that it's a waste of national resources, by that he means money. The INE organizes the electoral processes and guarantees the exercise of electoral rights. It is where you register to vote, it is where you go to vote. This man has publicly stated that he thinks democracy is a waste of money and he wants to shut down the organization that guarantees us that right. Our rights are in jeopardy right now. They have been threatened. And I dont see people talking about it. Not even mexicans, and its worrying.

the fact Amber was the one who didn’t want this trial to happen, but Johnny Depp didn’t give up. he knows he has nothing to hide, because he has what she doesn’t: the truth.
