We'd Hurt Each Other With The Things We Want To Say - an Agathario fanfiction

A/N: Hello everyone! Back for day 5 of @agathaallalongweek and part 3 of my witch school AU! Here is the beginning and if you want to read the whole story, the link will be at the end!

Agatha leaned back in her desk chair as the students left her classroom, relieved that the day was over. She thought being a teacher would be easy, but barely a month in and she was running out of things to teach them already. All her spare time was spent on her secret project, so that a few days ago, she’d arrived in class with no idea what to teach the first years. She couldn’t let that happen again if she didn’t want to get fired before she was done transcribing the circle.

She closed her eyes a moment and rubbed her temples. For a blissful moment, she thought all the students had left. Then, a voice resounded from the edge of her desk:

“If you have a headache, I know a good potion to get rid of it. Miss Kale taught it to us in second year.”

Agatha groaned and opened her eyes. Not for the first time, Billy was standing at the edge of her desk. He liked to asked questions, sometimes questions that didn’t even have anything to do with the lecture. His over-eagerness annoyed her.

“What incredibly out of left-field question are you going to ask me today, Billy? Let’s see… You’ve already asked me about banshees, sirens, about enchanted guitars, about cursed records, and about the role of bells in ritual casting in the 17th century.”

“And I appreciate your expertise,” he replied, then glanced around him, as if to check that the room was empty. He leaned a little closer. “But that’s not why I came to talk to you today. I’ve seen you at the old hideout at night and I don’t know what you’re doing there but I’d love to help.”

She sighed and stood up, yanking her coat from the back of the chair.

“Do you think Miss Calderu would like to know that you’ve been spying on another teacher in the woods at night?”

“I’m not spying-” he began, but she shut him down with a look because they both knew he was lying. “You could take me on as your assistant. Teachers do it all the time with seniors.”

“Oh, so you’re planning on taking song magic for your final project?”

“Nobody takes song magic anymore. Ma’am,” he added swiftly when he realized that he had insulted her. “But I can still be useful, if you would just give me a chance.”

The characters of Warrior Nun play Dungeons &Dragons

Ava is the DM, obviously. She’s been dying to play and she convinced everyone to join. Despite that, she still manages to finish her prep an hour before the game starts (it happens to the best of us)

Beatrice plays an elf paladin. At first she had picked a human but Ava made that face that Beatrice interpreted as “not a very original choice” but really meant “I was sure you would pick that” so Bea changed it to an elf. Ava made the face again but she stood her ground and tried (and failed) to ignore it.

Camila went online and tried to find the best, deadliest combinaison. She picked a tabaxi rogue/barbarian. Sneak attack damages count as a crit when she does a reckless attack. Ava doesn’t know if she loves it or hates it.

Lilith took some time to coax but eventually she agreed to “one stupid game” and now she’s a regular. She plays  a tiefling sorcerer. She almost took a warlock but realized her powers would be beholden to someone else and she couldn’t have that, so sorcerer it is.

In the time it took Ava to learn the base rules, Yasmine had already read all the add-ons (just in case). In the end, she picked an Aasimar wizard. She takes all of the notes. Not a word passes through Ava’s lips that she won’t transcribe in her notebook. It’s kind of scary sometimes.

Mary picked a half-elf (”they have a charisma bonus which gives a tactical advantage”) warlock (”I’ve got Eldrich Blast. When you’ve got Eldrich Blast you don’t need combat skills”).

Michael plays a dragonborn cleric because someone had to be the cleric and it certainly wasn’t going to be Lilith (”who cares if your character dies?”), Camila (”I already have two classes, a third one would be way too much”), Mary (”It would ruin my build”) or Yasmine (”I can be the cleric if you want me to”) after Lilith’s intervention (”Let Michael do it.”)

Mother Superion joined a game once. She played a human monk and she proved even more game breaking than Camila, somehow. She said “this game is easy” and Ava banned her (Beatrice had to talk her out of it).

Bonus: Shannon plays a halfling bard. Everyone thought that she would pick a fighting character, perhaps a paladin, but she knows all too well the weight of an oath on a person. She’d rather have fun.

In this short Life that only lasts an hour, how much - how little - is within our power - a Wolfwren fanfiction

A/N: Hello everyone! Welcome to my new long multichapter fic! This one is a modern au where Shin and Sabine meet at a resort in the Alps. Here is the beginning and if you want to read the whole thing the link will be at the end!

The snow crunched under Shin’s snowboard as she paused in her descent. She felt a pinprick ache in her left knee. That wouldn’t do. Looking down at the slope, it swooped at a steep angle before easing to a cool forty-five degree angle some fifty meters below. Not by far the most complicated slope she had descended. It was the stabbing inside her knee that worried her.

“Why did you stop?” she heard Baylan’s voice ask in her helmet.

She couldn’t see him, but she knew he was observing her from the bottom of the ski slope. She rolled her eyes.

“I’m not allowed to take my time?”

“If you’re in pain, we…”

She cut him off.

“I’m fine”

As if to prove him that nothing was wrong, she put pressure on her left foot and sent her board sliding against the snow once more. She zigzagged down the slope at a casual pace. After a few twists and turns, it was easy to ignore the pain in her knee, even as it seemed to spread to her hip. She convinced herself that she was imagining it.

She avoided a few skiers then followed the bend of the slope around the mountain side. Fir and pine trees obscured the view on either side. Whatever little snow had fallen on them during the night was already melting as the sun shone high into the bright blue sky. Shin took a deep breath. She loved the smell of evergreens and snow. It was always the same, no matter where she was snowboarding, and it always reminded her of home.

The slope snaked out of the trees and on the edge of the mountain side. From there, Shin could see the resort nestled at the foot of the mountain. She could see the slopestyle training field, and the tiny snowboarders rushing down and hopping off the ramps. As much as she wanted more than anything to go train down there, Baylan wanted to take it slow. It wasn’t like she had a competition in a month or something.

The slope cut through the woods once more and Shin lost sight of the resort. The angle changed again and she gained speed. She deftly zigzagged between skiers and other snowboarders. After taking a steep turn, she reached the bottom of the slope, a few feet away from the chair lift leading back to the resort. She leaned back to slow her arrival. As soon as her board stopped, she leaned to unclip the strap on her feet. Baylan jogged up to her, a pair of binoculars around his neck and his phone in his hand.

“So, how did it go?” he asked.

Shin shrugged.

“It was fine. I don’t see why you worried.”

Pain burned out of her knee, but that was beside the point.

Here I Am, Next to You (You Pull at My Seams) - An Avatrice and MaryShannon fanfiction

Hey everyone! Here’s an extract from my new summer romance fic, featuring in equal measure Avatrice and MaryShannon! If you like what you read, the link to the full chapter will be at the end!

On the other side of the pool, Ava was paddling away from the shallow part. She ignored the pain in her limbs and pressed on, all the while Mary was calling from the side of the pool.

“Ava, come back on this side. Don't you want to learn how to swim properly, rather than... whatever you're doing?”

Ava shrugged off her comments.

“I'm fine,” she shouted back.

She was in the middle of the pool now, where the ground was so deep that she couldn't feel it even with the tip of her toes. She was paddling her arms and legs as fast as she could to keep her head above the water. On the side of the pool, a young woman in a black swimming suit stepped up to the diving board. She had long, strong legs. Her hair was hidden beneath a black swimming cap, though a few small one still peaked out, plastered on the nape of her neck. Droplets of water had collected in the hollow of her throat, now running over to the edge of her swimsuit.

Ava forgot to paddle. She stared. It lasted only long enough that she felt herself sinking beneath the water. Panic rose in her chest and she kicked the water hard. She couldn't calm down. Every kick of her legs only seem to drag her further under the water. She tried calling for help, but water filled her mouth and smothered her voice.

She didn't hear the splash, only felt someone grabbing her and pulling her to the surface. She continued to struggle, but her rescuer was strong.

“You're okay,” the voice of a young woman told her. “You're okay.”

Ava finally snapped out of her panic. She was being pulled toward the ladder, held firmly above the water. Once she could finally grab the ladder to keep herself from drowning, she pulled away from her savior. Her heart sputtered in her chest when she realized it was the girl from the diving board.

“I'm...”

Ava wasn't sure what she was trying to say. They stood so close to one another that she could see the freckles on the other girl's face. I'm grateful? I'm Ava?

“I'm dead,” she thought and said at the same time, because she had to be.

The girl frowned.

“No, I... I pulled you out,” she replied with confusion.

“Yeah, no, obviously. I'm not dead, dead. I'm just... I'm Ava.”

Before the other girl could introduce herself, Mary arrived just in time to drag Ava out of the pool.

“I told you to stay in the shallow part. I warned you, didn't I?”

Ava rolled her eyes and exited the pool. Mary threw her towel at her and Ava brushed the chlorine water out of her eyes.

“I was fine. I did it on purpose again.”

Then, she saw her rescuer was climbing after her, and giving her strange look, and Ava was quick to respond.

“I mean I didn't do it on purpose to scare anyone. I had everything under control, totally.”

“That's the stupidest thing you've ever said,” Mary replied, earning herself a glare.

A moment later, another woman joined them. She wasn't wearing a swimsuit, but shorts and a tank top, her long brown hair held in a ponytail.

“Everything alright?” she asked.

“I'm sorry, Miss Masters,” Ava's rescuer said. “I thought she was drowning, I...”

“You did good, don't worry.”

“I'm sorry about that,” Mary intervened. “Ava doesn't know when a joke has gone too far.”

“It's fine. Better safe than sorry.”

“I just got tired all of a sudden is all,” Ava tried to defend herself against Mary's glare without passing for a complete loser in front of the cute girl.

The Haunting of the Ardham Lodge - a RubyxChristina fanfiction

A/N: Hey guys! I just posted the prologue and first chapter of my new spooky story, in which Christina goes to her old family home with Ruby so they can empty it before selling it. Here’s an extract and if you’re interested, the link to the full story is at the end!

They'd spent the night in Buffalo before making their way to Ardham. The road was as clear as the sky. They left the highway, snaked through small towns and back roads. The sun disappeared through the trees as they passed an old roofed bridge. The radio began cutting out, and when Ruby grew tired of the static, she turned it off.

"Let's hope the cell reception is better at the Lodge."

"I can't confirm that," Christina said.

It wasn't often that the blonde looked dwarfed by something, but the wheel of the truck was wider than the one of her usual car, and she looked like she would struggle to turn it when she needed to.

"I'm certain there's a phone, though, so at least you can call Leti once we arrive."

Ruby sighed. It was just the matter of a week, two at most anyway. Still, the last time they'd been without signal, they'd been trapped underground in a ruined pyramid no one but them had seen.

She looked out of the window. When the rows of trees on either side of the road disappeared, they were replaced by large expanses of grass. It didn't last long, however, and soon they were back under the shadow of the trees.

"Please tell me we're almost there."

"At the end of the road," Christina promised.

She took Ruby's hands in hers, squeezed it affectionately, then put both hands back on the wheel. When they emerged out of the trees again, Ruby thought she saw chimneys and part of a roof peaking from over the trees.

"Is that it?" she said, pointing to the bricks above the forest.

"No, I don't think so. From the pictures I saw, the Lodge has a glass dome on top."

Ruby rolled her eyes.

"Of course it does. What else does it have?"

"Let's see... fifteen bedrooms, an indoor garden, a reception hall, a library, a game room, an observatory, an elevator, and stables."

Ruby couldn't help but laugh at the ridiculousness of it all. Who needed such a large house with so many rooms in their summer home? The amount of money thrown out of the window, not just by Christina's ancestors, but by the person who would for some reason buy this isolated mansion nowadays was absurd. And it wasn't like Christina needed the money away. She was just tired of paying the cleaning duty every month to keep the house in order. Though Ruby was grateful that the crew had cleaned the mansion the day before their arrival. If there was one thing worse than being stuck in an isolated mansion with no internet for a week, it was being stuck in an isolated mansion in disrepair.

"I see it," Christina said, pulling Ruby out of her thoughts.

Ruby leaned to the front of the car to see ahead of them. A massive building of red bricks rose high above the trees. Ruby saw thin towers and chimneys, straight as poles. Atop the slanted roofs was a large glass dome on which the summer sun reflected.

"Are you fucking kidding me?" Ruby muttered at the sight.

Christina chuckled.

"I told you it as big."

"That's not big, that's a royal palace."

This Is a Gift, It Comes With a Price (Who Is the Lamb and Who Is the Knife?) - an Agathario fanfiction

A/N: Hello everyone! Welcome to my first Agathario fanfiction! This is a canon divergence in which Rio and Agatha make a deal and so Nicky gets to live longer than in the show. Here is the beginning, and if you want the link to the full story it will be at the end! Enjoy!

The son of Death was never meant to live. Rio had tried to warn Agatha, but in her hubris, the witch had not listened. It was a sick twist of Fate that Agatha’s arrogance was also one of her most attractive qualities.

When Rio felt the pull to Nicky, it was like a kick in her stomach. She may not have carried the boy, but she had felt her growing connection to him. It was a strange tinge of familiarity – the call for Death, like a lighthouse in the dark – and foreign – nobody called Death quite like this little boy. She had always felt a connection to Agatha, and could pinpoint her anywhere on Earth, but since Nicky’s conception, that connection had been stronger than ever.

She found her love without difficulty. She was wearing nothing but her smock, and leaning against a tree as pain racked through her. Rio had witnessed so many births gone awry. She had taken away so many mothers wrenching with agony, face sweaty and legs slick with their own blood. She had taken away so many silent children, still warm and slippery from their mother’s wombs. But this was different.

As soon as Agatha saw her, her face changed from one anguish to another. All her pain was forgotten when she saw Rio come up to her, baring an orchid. Rio had felt deep distress at the thought of taking the boy away and leaving Agatha with nothing but her tears. An orchid was the least she could bring her, even if Agatha did not understand its meaning.

“No, no. It cannot be.”

Rio had so rarely felt guilt. She knew other people’s guilt, but hers was unknown to her. The look Agatha gave her brought out an explosion of guilt in her chest. Her lungs constricted so tightly that if she needed to breathe, she might not have been able to. She could barely look Agatha in the eye, but she had to. It was the least she could do for her.

“It must be.”

How many laws of Nature would they break together? Rio had stopped counting. Nicky might be the last straw, the one that tipped the scale so far that life and death lost all meaning. Nature itself could have never allowed it. The boy would never breathe, like so many before him, and so many after.

“You do this and I’ll hate you forever,” Agatha promised as she glared at her through unshed tears.

Her eyes softened as she begged:

“Please let him live. Please. Please, my love.”

Rio could not withstand the brunt of her tenderness. She had to look away, even for a second.

Too Sweet - a Jecki/Osha fanfiction

A/N: Hello everyone! After episode 5 aired this week I decided to write a little Modern AU about Jecki and Osha. It is extremely fluffy. Here is an extract and if you want to read the whole story you will find the link at the end!

Jecki pushed the scooter to the edge of the garage then called:

“Excuse me? I could use some help?”

She looked on either side of the car but could not spot any mechanic wearing a jumpsuit who could help her. Then, she heard wheels on the concrete floor and looked down. The mechanic was coming out of under the car. She was wearing a jumpsuit, but had wrapped the top around her waist. A dark green tank top freed her strong arms, with a little tattoo on the right one. They flexed as she rolled herself from under the car and Jecki could feel herself blushing.

“Hey, sorry,” the mechanic said. “Do you have an appointment?”

“Er… No… My scooter just broke down and Sol recommended I come here.”

The mechanic stood up and brushed her grease-stained hands on her pants. Jecki took the time to look at her once more. They were the same height. The mechanic had thin, ruddy colored dreadlocks. Her brown skin was stained with little dots of grease. Her dark eyes landed on Jecki and she smiled.

“You work for Sol?”

“How do you know?” Jecki replied, doing her best not to stutter as the mechanic continued to look at her.

“You’re wearing a ‘Master Sol’s Korean Noodle Bar’ shirt.”

Jecki looked down at herself. She had forgotten that she was dressed for work.

“Oh yeah…”

“I used to work there too, a few years ago.”

Jecki’s mouth fell open.

“You did?”

It certainly explained why Sol had recommended the mechanic’s shop to her.

“I’m Osha,” the mechanics said as she held out a hand.

“Jecki. Is that a nickname, Osha? Like did you get a lot of OSHA violations so they…”

She pursed her lips to stop herself from talking when she realized how stupid she sounded. Osha’s smile hadn’t fallen, but she shook her head.

“My name is Verosha, but my friends call me Osha.”

“Well, Jecki isn’t short for anything, it’s…”

She cleared her throat.

“Can you help me with my scooter?”

Past and Present Song - a Wolfwren fanfiction

A/N: Hello everyone! Here comes the final story in the Wolf, the Wren and their Cub series! Here is the beginning and the link to the full first half of the story will be at the end!

It took six years to clear out the rubble of Sundari. Droids had to be rented from the New Republic to safely dismantle the taller buildings that loomed over the city, including what remained of the dome. The city was still regrowing, but Bo-Katan did not want to wait to clear out the ruins of the other cities. So, in the summer before she enrolled at Lothal’s Junior Academy of Arts and Sciences, Uschi volunteered to help clear out the ruins of Keldabe.

She hadn’t exactly volunteered. It was more like a requirement to finally be added to the Song. Sabine thought she was ready to receive her armor and taker her oath, but she also thought Uschi needed to spend more time around other Mandalorians. So, she was joining a group of kids also about to receive their armor for their summer program, which consisted of forging – or in her case reforging – their armor and clearing out what remained of Keldabe.

Uschi’s team had been dispatched in the city’s seventh quadrant, where the buildings had been ponded to the ground and nothing loomed above them, unlike in other parts of the city. They had been given shovels, but the bigger pieces usually required two or three of the pre-teens to work together. Delia, in her tall loader body, thrived here. She picked up the bigger pieces with ease and carried them to the truck as if they were made of foam.

“They should make Delia an honorary Mandalorian,” Lae said as the droid walked past her.

“Yeah, they should give her the armor instead of Uschi,” Eagis joked. “She’s been twiddling her thumbs over there.”

Uschi glared at him. She decided to teach him a little lesson. She reached out her hand and Force lifted five large pieces of ruble, including the one Eagis had been dragging on his own.

“Uschi,” Axe warned her.

Uschi lowered the rubble back to the ground. They had been agreed that she wouldn’t be using the Force, and would use her hands like everyone. Of course, she was still using the Force to carry the rubble with her hands, but no one needed to know that.
