Where the hell have I been

(And more importantly, where is that Warrior Nun/Ocean’s 8 AU I promised)

Back in April I said my next fanfiction would be an Ocean’s 8 AU, but that it would take a bit of time to write. I spent two thirds of April finishing up my Warrior Nun inspired novel, then, as I had planned, I began working on the fic. Then, trouble arose...

At the begging of May, I received an acceptance letter from my dream University and I got into their creative writing program. Awesome. However this university is in Canada, on the other side of the ocean, which means a lot of paperwork to get my visa in time, among all things.

Long story short, I spent a very stressful month of May, and June is only becoming better now. I have not been able to get any writing down, on the fic or any story for that matter. The irony isn’t lost on me. I get into a creative writing program only to forget how to write -_-

I’m sorry but I have no idea when, or even if I will be able to deliver the fic as I had promised. If that was something you were looking forward to, I hope you can forgive me.

I hope I’ll be able to post a new fic soon, but if I don’t, have a nice summer everyone!

Listen to the Fireplace Roar - a RubyxChristina fanfiction

A/N: Hey guys! Here’s an extract from my new one-shot, the sequel to “The Ice Witch Stole the Ruby” and as you might have guessed, it’s winter themed! The link to the full story is below!

Christina shivered awake. January had not been kind so far, but this Saturday morning was meaner than most. Light struggled through the frosted windows of her bedroom. She brought her knees to her chest, bundling tighter under the sheets. Now that she was awake, she wanted to get out of bed and be productive. But the thought of stepping out of the warm blankets was enough to send more shivers down her spine. There had to have been heavy snowfall the night before.

She was pulled out of her debate when her phone vibrated on the vanity. She'd half a mind to let it ring but there was only one person who would call her these days, and it wouldn't do to let her girlfriend's call go to voicemail. She pulled herself out of bed, the cold morning air sending goosebumps over her arms. She reached for the phone first and for a sweater second.

"Hey, I thought you'd be up," Ruby said.

Christina checked the time and saw that it was a bit too early to be Ruby's usual rising time.

"What's going on?"

Ruby sighed. Christina placed the phone on speaker on the vanity then put on the sweater while she listened.

"I hate to ask you but..."

"She's super rich, it's not like it's going to be a problem!" Leti's voice shouted from behind Ruby.

"There was a power surge. The whole block is out, apparently, some snow toppled an electric pole. So the fridge is out, the heater is out too, and there's only so much safe heat you can get from the oven."

Christina had pulled her hair out of her sweater and picked up her phone. She checked the heater in her bedroom but it was still functioning. She turned the nob one setting higher.

"Anyway," Ruby continued, "could we stay at your place until they fix the electricity? It might take the weekend and I'd rather not die of hypothermia if I can avoid it."

"Yeah, of course," Christina said as she walked out of her bedroom and went downstairs to check the radiators in the living room. The ground floor was even colder. "Give me half an hour and I'll come and pick you up."

"The roads are still snowed in, it's too dangerous," Ruby replied.

Christina checked through her window. It seemed the snow had stopped falling and the street in front of her house had already been cleared.

"Where are you now?" Christina asked.

"We took refuge in a Starbucks with a few neighbors. I'll call you when the road's clear, all right?"

"You're sure?"

"Yeah. They know what's up, they won't kick us out for a few hours."

"Okay. I'll warm you up when you get here."

There was a pause then a slight chuckle.

"Leti heard you and she's disgusted."

For a moment, Christina had forgotten that if the apartment was inhospitable, then Leti would have to stay with her too. Her relationship with the teenager had improved in the past few months, but that didn't mean Christina wanted to spend the entire weekend around her, or vice-versa.

"Tell her I'm gonna prepare the room furthest from my bedroom and that the walls here are not paper thin."

"I don't care, you two are disgusting," Leti shouted.

"I'll see you soon," Ruby sighed.

"Stay safe."

Ruby hung up and Christina shivered. She decided she had the time for a very warm shower and went back upstairs.

Paradise by the Dashboard Light - A RubyxChristina fanfiction

A/N: Hey guys! This is an extract from my new Ruby/Christina story, it’s a high school AU in which Leti sees Ruby disappear in a mysterious silver car and decides to investigate who the car belongs to. It’s just a lot of fun. If you’re interested, the link to the full story is at the end!

Leti left school at four, and her desire for ice cream still hadn't subsided. She decided to make a stop by the ice cream parlor on her own. It was a sunny and warm day, probably one of the last few before fall settled over Chicago. It was now or never. She took a turn to the left instead of the right, forgoing the bus, and made her way toward the ice cream parlor.

She was halfway there when she noticed someone walking ahead of her. She had absolutely no doubt that it was Ruby. She recognized her outfit, the strap of her bag passing over her shoulder, and her walk. She had headphones on, so even if Leti tried to call her, she wouldn't respond. Leti wondered where her older sister was going. The study groups usually met at the school's library. Maybe she was going to the public library, but that wasn't the way to the library either. Leti thought it would be funny if they ended up one behind the other at the ice cream parlor. Maybe she could ask her then.

However, Ruby took a turn to the right, away from the ice cream parlor. Leti frowned again. She stopped at the red light where Ruby had crossed and watched her sister walk toward the nearby park. Leti couldn't help but wonder what her sister was up to. It wasn't like Ruby to lie to her or have secrets. When the light turned green again, Leti hurried after her sister.

She kept her distance, making sure that Ruby wouldn't notice her. Ruby was indeed going to the park, but she didn't walk in, instead, she made her way around it. There was a car parked beside the sidewalk. It was an old-looking silver car, with dark windows. It was impossible to tell who or if someone was inside. Ruby stopped by the car and knocked on the window. The door opened. Ruby slid inside, and Leti was very confused. Ruby was seating in the driver's seat, but shortly after she'd stepped in, the car drove away. Ruby didn't know how to drive. Marvin had tried to teach her but after she'd accidentally crashed his old pickup, they'd both given up. So Ruby couldn't be driving.

Leti watched the silver car disappear at a corner and drive away. She remained on the sidewalk for a moment, her brain full of questions. Ruby had lied, at least she was certain of that. But why? Who did this car belong to? Certainly, someone rich, to own such a luxurious looking vehicle. Leti pulled her phone out and called Ruby. She wanted to know the truth, and know why her sister had lied to her.

"What?" Ruby said as she picked up.

Leti couldn't find her words. What was she supposed to say? That she'd accidentally followed Ruby and seen her setting into a stranger's car? An expensive car at that?

"Leti? What's going on?"

Leti swallowed, and with the only voice she could find, she asked:

"Are you at your study group yet?"

"Yeah, we're kind of busy."

A cold bolt of betrayal struck Leti then.

"It's... it's not important. It can wait. See you later."

"Later."

Ruby hung up, and Leti lowered her phone. She couldn't believe Ruby had lied to her again. She didn't even want to get ice cream anymore. Instead, she made her way back home, deep in thoughts. Why would Ruby lie to her? Who was the man – it had to be a man, only men had nice expensive cars like this one – who'd picked her up? Could he be her boyfriend? She thought Ruby knew she could tell her if she had a secret boyfriend. They were sisters, it had to mean something.

Gray November, I've been down since July - a Wolfwren fanfiction

A/N: Hello everyone! Welcome to my new wolfwren multi-chapter fic! This is a Modern/Neighbor AU, it is full of angst and hurt/comfort. Here is an extract from the first chapter, and the link to the full story will be at the end!

She sighed and sipped her coffee. Really, this apartment was perfect. It was close to the city center. The view was incredible. The only problem was the balcony itself. She leaned over the railing, and looked at her neighbor’s balcony, which stood a mere three feet from hers. It was a strange design flaw. How could anyone think this was a good idea, she thought just about every morning. She sipped her coffee, then frowned. Those gray curtains weren’t there before. Had someone moved in across from her while she was gone?

Murley stretched on the threshold then stepped onto the balcony. He hopped into an empty pot and curled inside. Sabine kept it empty on purpose, and shifted it every so often so that it got as much sun as it could. Sabine kept her gaze on the curtains across from her. A shadow moved behind them, but the curtains, although they looked flimsy, were opaque enough to hide the figure.

“Hello?” Sabine tried calling.

Their window was shut. They would never hear her over the sounds of the city. She took a sip of coffee and contemplated her options. She could just let it go, move on with her day. Go to the gym like she had planned. She would come across them eventually. But they basically shared a balcony. They should meet sooner rather than later. Her former neighbor used to hang all his socks on his balcony because they were made from expensive cotton, or some silly material, and Murley tried a few times to play with the socks. Needless to say, they fell down four stories more often than any sock ever had. She wanted to meet her new neighbor. But it seemed it would be impossible to catch their attention, unless they actually stepped onto the balcony. She didn’t have all day.

Taking another sip of coffee, she returned inside. Music was still blasting from the kitchen. Sabine set her mug down and grabbed her bagel. She glanced at the speaker. The volume dial was only halfway up. She could crank it more. She turned it up a bit, then a bit more, then a bit more. Rock music flared into the apartment. Sabine glanced at her phone and waited.

It took fifty-nine seconds for someone to come pounding on her door. Sabine smirked and took another sip of coffee. She waited for more pounding, then lowered the music and shouted:

“Coming!”

Art is Subjective - a Wolfwren fic

A/N: Hello everyone! I just uploaded a new one-shot on AO3, it is an art gallery AU and also it is E rated ;) Here is the beginning and if you want to read the whole thing, the link will be at the end!

As Shin grabbed another glass of champagne, she wondered why they never served anything stronger than champagne at all those business meetings. On the one hand, she could understand wanting to be clear-minded while talking business. On the other, these functions were always so boring. If she had known that she would have to attend these regularly when she agreed to work for Baylan, she would have gone back to working the graveyard shift at Dex’s Diner. It paid almost just as much and she didn’t have to deal with pedantic assholes, only the regular variety.

She wondered between the art pieces without sparing them more than a glance. She only needed to look busy, so Baylan wouldn’t reprimand her for standing around in a corner. If she looked as if she were participating, she could have a relatively unbothered evening. She kept one hand in the pocket of her gray suit, the other holding the glass and twirling the content within. That was the only anxious fidgeting she was allowed. She couldn’t check her phone every minute because it would only depress her, and the only clock on the wall was a piece of art, one of those melted clocks that no one found original anymore.

When a group of trader-looking men stood at the end of her path, blocking her access to the rest of the room, she had no other choice but to stop and contemplate the painting hanging from the wall. It was a Mandalorian helmet, or at least someone wearing a Madanlorian helmet, but every refraction of the light on the helmet was wrong, distorted, it showed too much or too little.

“Pretty interesting, don’t you think?”

“No, not really,” Shin replied as she turned to the woman who had joined her.

She was awestruck for a second, but a second was all she allowed herself. The woman had short purple hair, brushed back and away from her clever brown eyes. A mole stood out at the edge of her cheekbone. Her hands were tugged in the pockets of a dark orange suit jacket. Beneath, she wore a form-fitting top. Upon hearing Shin’s reply, she frowned.

“You don’t find it interesting?”

“No, I don’t. I find it pretentious.”

Hell is a Thanksgiving Dinner - A Fear Street fanfiction

A/N: Hey guys! Here is an extract from my new short multi-chapter fanfiction centered around Cindy and Ziggy going home for Thanksgiving, so you can obviously expect a lot of family drama! If you want to read the whole story, the link is at the end! I hope you’ll enjoy it!

Ziggy woke up to the sound of her alarm clock, followed by the yapping of Major Tom. He'd yet to understand that there wasn't some evil elf hidden in the black box ringing an electronic bell every morning. She didn't think he ever would. Instead, she switched off the alarm and padded her bed, prompting Major to jump back on the covers and nuzzle his nose under her hand, asking to be petted. She patted his head as she stared at the weak sunlight bouncing off her ceiling. She sighed. She didn't feel ready for the day, but she knew it was too late to back down. Although she didn't want to, she slipped out of bed.

Soon enough, she had changed into her tracksuit and was putting on her trainers. Major Tom was waiting for her by the door, his tail wagging happily at the prospect of going out. Ziggy put on her sweater, picked up her earbuds, strapped his retractable leash on Major Tom, and was ready to go.

She ran until she couldn't feel her legs, then let Major drag her for another mile until they were home. They followed their usual route. Down the street, past the wall with a thick layer of band posters, turning right on Elm Street, past the line of suit-wearing businessmen and tired teenagers waiting for their coffee, through the front gate, and into the park, up the main gravel path which traversed the park, along the small gentle stream and over the wooden bridge, past the children's playground, back out of the park, and around the block. Major was ready for another turn and Ziggy had to hold him back to bring him inside their building.

Major sprinted up the stairs while Ziggy took her time. He sat in front of the door, his tail brushing the floor of the hallway. Ziggy unlocked the front door and let Major inside. While he plopped down in front of his water bowl, she took a glass of water and drank.

She gave Major his breakfast and went to take a shower. This was the only way to make sure he was busy while she washed up. She knew he was only worried about her, but every once in a while she'd like to take a shower without him scratching and whining at the door.

Once dressed for the day, Ziggy took her breakfast. As the coffee machine was loudly brewing her a cup, she checked her phone. She had agreed to pick up Cindy at five today, but still, she felt the need to type 'Ready for today?' When halfway through breakfast she still hadn't received any reply, she suspected it was because her sister was still in bed. To be fair, it was still early. She knew Cindy would answer once she was up. She always did.

Dream Markers and Memory Keepers - a Captain Marvel fanfiction

A/N: Hey guys! Here is an extract of the story I wrote for the winner of my bid for the MTH 2020 charity auction! It’s a lot of family fluff as Maria and Carol take Monica to Disneyworld for the first time. If you want to read the whole story the link is at the end!

Maria spotted the miraculously empty bench and Monica mustered all the energy she had left to run to it. Soon enough, her parents caught up. Carol was carrying a small collection of shopping bags. She tugged them between her feet as she sat down. Monica was sandwiched between her moms. Cinderella castle rose over them on the other side of the circular plaza. Now that the night had fallen, it was illuminated by powerful projectors, so that even the blue rooftops and golden spirals were visible as if it were the middle of the day.

The whole plaza was lit by streetlights. However, despite the intense lights around her, Monica yawned. She rubbed her eyes and rested her head against Maria's shoulder.

"Don't fall asleep before the fireworks, Lieutenant Trouble," Carol said.

"It's fine, we have plenty of time. She can take a little nap."

In no time at all, Monica was asleep. People began to crowd the plaza in preparation for the light show and fireworks. Carol checked her phone. They still had a good hour to wait. Maria was holding onto her daughter. Carol slid just a bit closer, careful not to crush Monica between them, and placed one arm over the backrest of the bench. She could feel the warmth of Maria's arm against her hand.

"We're going to be eating nothing but potatoes for the rest of the year, but it would have been so worth it," Carol said with a smile.

Maria brushed a strand of curly hair away from Monica's face.

"She's going to run us ragged. We're here all week and I'm already tired."

"To be fair, the first's day is always the most exciting."

Maria glanced at her in disbelief and Carol shrugged.

"If you want to take a day off at the spa, I can handle her."

"Even if she wants to go on 'It's a small world' again?" Maria asked with a chuckle.

Carol shuddered.

"I'll do my best..."

More and more people settled on the sidewalk and in any available spot to wait. Many were families just like them, with one or more children either too excited to fall asleep or struggling to remain awake. Carol checked the time again on her phone and eventually, she decided to check the pictures she'd taken during the day. She almost had the wind knocked out of her by the number of pictures alone.

"Thank God I remembered to empty my phone before we left. It's just the first day and I already have over a hundred pictures!"

Maria leaned a bit closer, mindful of the sleeping eight-year-old against her.

"Let me see."

Carol selected the oldest picture she'd taken, one of Monica posing beside the huge statue of Ariel at their hotel.

"That's one a keeper alright."
