Dream Markers And Memory Keepers - A Captain Marvel Fanfiction

Dream Markers and Memory Keepers - a Captain Marvel fanfiction

A/N: Hey guys! Here is an extract of the story I wrote for the winner of my bid for the MTH 2020 charity auction! It’s a lot of family fluff as Maria and Carol take Monica to Disneyworld for the first time. If you want to read the whole story the link is at the end!

Maria spotted the miraculously empty bench and Monica mustered all the energy she had left to run to it. Soon enough, her parents caught up. Carol was carrying a small collection of shopping bags. She tugged them between her feet as she sat down. Monica was sandwiched between her moms. Cinderella castle rose over them on the other side of the circular plaza. Now that the night had fallen, it was illuminated by powerful projectors, so that even the blue rooftops and golden spirals were visible as if it were the middle of the day.

The whole plaza was lit by streetlights. However, despite the intense lights around her, Monica yawned. She rubbed her eyes and rested her head against Maria's shoulder.

"Don't fall asleep before the fireworks, Lieutenant Trouble," Carol said.

"It's fine, we have plenty of time. She can take a little nap."

In no time at all, Monica was asleep. People began to crowd the plaza in preparation for the light show and fireworks. Carol checked her phone. They still had a good hour to wait. Maria was holding onto her daughter. Carol slid just a bit closer, careful not to crush Monica between them, and placed one arm over the backrest of the bench. She could feel the warmth of Maria's arm against her hand.

"We're going to be eating nothing but potatoes for the rest of the year, but it would have been so worth it," Carol said with a smile.

Maria brushed a strand of curly hair away from Monica's face.

"She's going to run us ragged. We're here all week and I'm already tired."

"To be fair, the first's day is always the most exciting."

Maria glanced at her in disbelief and Carol shrugged.

"If you want to take a day off at the spa, I can handle her."

"Even if she wants to go on 'It's a small world' again?" Maria asked with a chuckle.

Carol shuddered.

"I'll do my best..."

More and more people settled on the sidewalk and in any available spot to wait. Many were families just like them, with one or more children either too excited to fall asleep or struggling to remain awake. Carol checked the time again on her phone and eventually, she decided to check the pictures she'd taken during the day. She almost had the wind knocked out of her by the number of pictures alone.

"Thank God I remembered to empty my phone before we left. It's just the first day and I already have over a hundred pictures!"

Maria leaned a bit closer, mindful of the sleeping eight-year-old against her.

"Let me see."

Carol selected the oldest picture she'd taken, one of Monica posing beside the huge statue of Ariel at their hotel.

"That's one a keeper alright."

Paradise by the Dashboard Light - A RubyxChristina fanfiction

A/N: Hey guys! This is an extract from my new Ruby/Christina story, it’s a high school AU in which Leti sees Ruby disappear in a mysterious silver car and decides to investigate who the car belongs to. It’s just a lot of fun. If you’re interested, the link to the full story is at the end!

Leti left school at four, and her desire for ice cream still hadn't subsided. She decided to make a stop by the ice cream parlor on her own. It was a sunny and warm day, probably one of the last few before fall settled over Chicago. It was now or never. She took a turn to the left instead of the right, forgoing the bus, and made her way toward the ice cream parlor.

She was halfway there when she noticed someone walking ahead of her. She had absolutely no doubt that it was Ruby. She recognized her outfit, the strap of her bag passing over her shoulder, and her walk. She had headphones on, so even if Leti tried to call her, she wouldn't respond. Leti wondered where her older sister was going. The study groups usually met at the school's library. Maybe she was going to the public library, but that wasn't the way to the library either. Leti thought it would be funny if they ended up one behind the other at the ice cream parlor. Maybe she could ask her then.

However, Ruby took a turn to the right, away from the ice cream parlor. Leti frowned again. She stopped at the red light where Ruby had crossed and watched her sister walk toward the nearby park. Leti couldn't help but wonder what her sister was up to. It wasn't like Ruby to lie to her or have secrets. When the light turned green again, Leti hurried after her sister.

She kept her distance, making sure that Ruby wouldn't notice her. Ruby was indeed going to the park, but she didn't walk in, instead, she made her way around it. There was a car parked beside the sidewalk. It was an old-looking silver car, with dark windows. It was impossible to tell who or if someone was inside. Ruby stopped by the car and knocked on the window. The door opened. Ruby slid inside, and Leti was very confused. Ruby was seating in the driver's seat, but shortly after she'd stepped in, the car drove away. Ruby didn't know how to drive. Marvin had tried to teach her but after she'd accidentally crashed his old pickup, they'd both given up. So Ruby couldn't be driving.

Leti watched the silver car disappear at a corner and drive away. She remained on the sidewalk for a moment, her brain full of questions. Ruby had lied, at least she was certain of that. But why? Who did this car belong to? Certainly, someone rich, to own such a luxurious looking vehicle. Leti pulled her phone out and called Ruby. She wanted to know the truth, and know why her sister had lied to her.

"What?" Ruby said as she picked up.

Leti couldn't find her words. What was she supposed to say? That she'd accidentally followed Ruby and seen her setting into a stranger's car? An expensive car at that?

"Leti? What's going on?"

Leti swallowed, and with the only voice she could find, she asked:

"Are you at your study group yet?"

"Yeah, we're kind of busy."

A cold bolt of betrayal struck Leti then.

"It's... it's not important. It can wait. See you later."

"Later."

Ruby hung up, and Leti lowered her phone. She couldn't believe Ruby had lied to her again. She didn't even want to get ice cream anymore. Instead, she made her way back home, deep in thoughts. Why would Ruby lie to her? Who was the man – it had to be a man, only men had nice expensive cars like this one – who'd picked her up? Could he be her boyfriend? She thought Ruby knew she could tell her if she had a secret boyfriend. They were sisters, it had to mean something.

Wish You Were Here - a Wolfwren fanfiction

A/N: Hello everyone! I'm back with another story in the Life of the Wolf, the Wren and their Cub series! This time they are taking a little vacation to Krownest! Here is the beginning and if you enjoy it you'll find the link to the full story at the end!

It took about a year for Uschi to finally convince her mother to take her to Krownest. It wasn’t just that Sabine didn’t want to go back there. The place was charged with a lot of memories, some of which she wasn’t sure she was ready to confront. But it was also Uschi’s inheritance, and the girl deserved to play in the snow for a little while before she was too old to enjoy it to its fullest. So, despite her hesitation, Sabine packed up everything they needed in the shuttle and they journeyed to the New Kleyman system.

Uschi was positively vibrating in her seat as they pulled out of hyperspace and approached the frozen planet. Shin had been driving, as if to spare Sabine, to let her focus on her emotions, but once they approached the orbit of the planet, Sabine took over, driving them down toward the Wren stronghold.

Uschi gasped when they broke through the clouds and she saw the snow for the first time. It smeared down the slopes of grey mountains like rough brushstrokes, powdered the leaves of trees and carpeted the ground. The lower they descended, the shinier it seemed. They flew over a frozen lake, and the stronghold came into view, drawing another gasp from the girl. It was made of glass and concrete, jutting out of the mountain and standing like a stack of boxes on the edge of the lake.

“Is this where you grew up?” Uschi asked.

“Yep.”

“It’s so cool.”

Sabine brought the shuttle on the roof, where they used to keep their small fleet of ships, and she parked it there. Once the landing pads rested steadily on the roof, she cut out the engines. While Uschi unbuckled her seatbelt and rushed out of the cockpit, Sabine wasn’t so quick to move. She took a deep breath, hands rubbing at her knees like she wasn’t sure she would be able to get up. Shin placed a hand on her lap, drawing her attention.

“I can keep her occupied, if you need a moment.”

Sabine sighed, but gave her a small smile.

“I’m fine.”

Shin stared a second longer at her, as if trying to deciphering how much Sabine was lying. Enough to be concerned, but not enough to call her out on it. She gave a little nod.

“Alright,” Sabine said, finally, as she stood up. “Let’s get her inside before she freezes over.”

No Magic Word Can Make Me Disappear - a RubyxChristina fanfiction

A/N: Hey guys! I’m back with this short one-shot inspired by Jennifer’s Body! Here is an extract and if you want to read the whole thing the link is at the end! Hope you enjoy!

Christina hadn't been answering her phone all evening. Ruby was growing worried with each passing minute. There was a big fancy dinner at the Braithwhites that evening, which seemed to happen at least once a month. Christina hated them but Christina had to be there. And usually, during those evenings, Christina texted her well into the night. Ruby couldn't be there but she could keep her company that way. But tonight, nothing. Her last text had been at seven sharp when she'd had to step into the reception room – because of course, that huge mansion of hers had a reception room. Since then, nothing.

Ruby had been turning and turning in her bedroom. She'd called Christina ten times already. What more could she do? She had a bad, venomous feeling in her gut. It made her want to run. The cold dread in her chest made her think that Christina was in danger, and she was stuck in her small college dorm room, waiting for a text message that might never come.

Her phone vibrated suddenly and she jumped to it. Any wave of relief she'd felt dissipates when she saw it wasn't Christina calling, but Leti.

"What do you want?"

"Jesus, someone's on edge. What's up? Is your girlfriend getting on your nerve again?"

Ruby rolls her eyes.

"She's not my girlfriend."

They were a deadly secret. If Christina's father ever found out, he would kill them both. And probably get away with it too, the rich bastard that he was.

"She hasn't been answering my texts and all my phone calls tonight. I'm getting worried."

"You're worried over nothing. What could happen to her at those fancy parties, seriously?"

Still, Ruby was playing all the worse scenarios in her mind. She'd rather not name them, though, or else they would become painfully real. She was about to ask Leti again why she called when she heard a knock outside. It sounded far away. Ruby wasn't sure whether it was at her door at all. Still, she went to it, just to check, just in case.

"Hold on, I think someone's at the door."

Ruby opened the door and leaned her head outside. The light in the corridor turned on. There was no one. She thought maybe she could see someone in the staircase. Maybe it was someone bringing something to a friend. The hallway was empty.

"It was nothing," Ruby said as she closed the door.

"You seriously need to calm down," Leti said, still on the other side of the phone. "Anyway, I was wondering if you had time to go shopping with me tomorrow?"

Ruby was barely listening to the question. She was looking out of the window. She felt observed. She approached the window and looked outside. There was nothing but dark grass under streetlights. The nearest tree was too far for its branches to reach her window. There was no one outside.

"Ruby?"

The phone, right.

"I don't know, Leti. I'll call you back tomorrow to let you know, alright?"

Ruby hung up. She checked her phone again. No answer from Christina. The seeds of worry were rooted in her heart, but there wasn't much she could do. Maybe she should get some sleep. If Christina still hadn't answered tomorrow morning then Ruby would have no other choice but to go to the Braithwhite manor herself and check on her girlfriend.

She put her phone on her desk and rubbed her eyes tiredly. She turned off the light. The room grew cold and the flicker of a lighter resounded like a firework explosion. Ruby bolted around. There was someone seating by the edge of her window. She could see her outline from the streetlight outside. A few more sparks flew from the lighter before a small orange flame illuminated her face. Ruby knew that frame, she knew that body and that face, but for a second, she didn't recognize her.

Fire Within Fire, Desire in Deity - a Wolfwren fanfiction (NSFW)

A/N: Hey everyone! I just posted a new one-shot, this one as you can see is rated E ;) Here is the beginning of the story, but if you want to read the whole thing, the link is at the end!

Shin woke up to the sound of delicate scratching. She smiled and turned in bed, away from the morning light coming in through the window. Lothal mornings were always blinding. She had to blink a few times until her eyes stopped watering. She rubbed them, stretched, feeling the blanket falling away from her, then finally opened her eyes. Just as she had predicted, Sabine was seated at the edge of the bed with her leather-bound notebook on her lap, and a sharp piece of graphite in her hand.

“Did you have to turn?” she asked Shin once she had opened her eyes.

Shin didn’t reply right away. First, she sat up and grabbed the back of Sabine’s head, kissing her. When they parted, Shin glanced at the notebook. Sabine had been drawing her naked back with the sheets drawn up to her waist. Shin lay back down against the pillow.

“You know I love annoying you.”

Sabine rolled her eyes. As if to prove Shin wrong, she picked up the graphite again and began another sketch of her. Shin reclined back down, staring at Sabine.

“I didn’t expect you would be drawing me first thing in the morning.”

Sabine had sketched her before in that very special notebook. It was a gift from Mon Mothma for service rendered to the Galaxy. It was near impossible to find that much paper anymore, and for a long time, Sabine had preserved the gift, using it sparingly. For the past few weeks, however, she had been filling every page with drawings of Shin.

“I was just looking at you and the urge came over me. Can you blame me?”

“I give you the uncontrollable urge to draw?”

Sabine chuckled.

“It’s almost like I find you beautiful or something.”

Jacen Day - a Wolfwren fanfiction

A/N: Hello everyone! Here is a new Wolfwren one-shot featuring Jacen and a little trip to Mandalore. Here is the beginning and if you want to read the whole story the link will be at the end!

Sabine landed the shuttle in Home One’s hangar. She opened the ramp. From the seat beside hers, Shin asked:

“So, how old is Jacen now?”

Sabine frowned.

“What do you mean?”

“Isn’t it his birthday?”

“Not quite.”

It was Shin’s turn to frown.

“But you’ve been calling today ‘Jacen Day.’”

Sabine glanced back into the shuttle. Since Jacen seemed late, she had the time to explain:

“After the Battle of Jakku when Hera thought she was going to die, she really wanted to spend more time with Jacen. But the New Republic kept her quite busy. So, for his birthday, she came up with Jacen Day. Every year, we all give him a ticket that he can use whenever he wants to do whatever he wants with us. This year he went to Ryloth with his mom, and to the beach. He got a piloting lesson from Zeb. Ezra took him to get a crystal for his own lightsaber. Which leaves only me. So today is Jacen Day.”

When she still saw no sign of the boy, Sabine frowned and stood out of her seat. Shin waited another beat before joining her. They stood at the edge of the ramp, surveying the busy hangar.

“Are we early?” Sabine asked herself.

Jacen burst out from one of the elevators and ran up to the shuttle. Hera followed at her own pace as she called:

“Jacen, they’re not going to leave without you.”

Soulmates are for Suckers - a Wolfwren fanfiction

A/N: Hello everyone to day 2 of @wolfwrenweek My mouse is giving up on me but I never give up! This new story is a soulmate AU that I hope you will all enjoy! Here is the beginning and if you want to read the rest of the story the link will be at the end!

Sabine should have been used to bounty hunters by now. Between the ones sent by Thrawn and the ones who just happened to see the bounty notes, the crew of the Ghost was liable to be followed anywhere they went. But this one felt different.

She rushed down the city street, certain that the bounty hunter was still hot on her tail. The Ghost had been hiding behind the planet’s moon, and she knew that Hera was already sweeping down to collect her. All Sabine had to do was get on board before the bounty hunter caught her. Easy-peasy.

A blaster bolt echoed down the dark street and bounced off the back of her armor. Its strength unsettled her and she stumbled, then righted herself and sprinted away. Maybe not so easy. The hunter was on the rooftops to her left, keeping up with her. She hadn’t had a good look at them, not in the darkened streets. It was ironic, since she had been the one who had destroyed their power plant to free the workers from the Empire’s work camp. Ezra and Zeb would be there now, helping them escape. Hera would pick them up after.

Another bolt missed her by an inch. Sabine was tired of this pesky bounty hunter. She whirled around and pulled out her blasters to retaliate. It was a bad idea, and exactly what the hunter had been waiting for her to do. Before she could squeeze the trigger, the blasters flew out of her hands and clattered onto the wet pavement. The hunter jumped from the roof and, without rope or jetpack, slowed their descend to land near her.

Sabine frowned. It couldn’t be. Was this an Inquisitor, and not a bounty hunter as Sabine had thought? She had her answer when the hunter removed their big flowing robe and drew a lightsaber. Orange light flooded the street. Sabine had never seen a lightsaber this color before. She was also shocked to discover that the hunter after her was a teenage too, a blonde with a padawan braid and smudgy eyeshadow.

“Going somewhere, Mandalorian?”

Freezing dread made Sabine shiver all over. Oh no. If the fact that she was being pursued by a lightsaber-wielding Force user was bad enough, she’d just had to say those words, the words which had been stamped on Sabine’s side since she was born.
