Is Zoe’s Last Name A Coincidence?

Is Zoe’s Last Name a Coincidence?

So maybe I’m reading too much into this, and maybe it’s just one big coincidence, but Zoe’s last name is Benson, which means exactly what it means, “son of ben”. Now, Taissa Farmiga previous character on AHS was Violet, and Violet’s father was named Ben.

So is it a joke that they picked Benson as Zoe’s last name, or reference to Murder House? Am I reading too much into this and it’s probably just a coincidence? Am I late to the party and everyone had already figured it out back in 2013? Probably all of the above...

In a world that wants to shove advertisements in our face every second of every day, do you realize how significant it is that AO3 doesn’t host ANY ads? They make NO revenue from the traffic they receive or from users in any way.

You might not even realize how exhausting it is to be bombarded with advertising all the time. Just look at FFN. You can’t read anything on the mobile version of the site without having to scroll past huge adds in the middle of a fic or between reviews. You can’t watch a YouTube video without encountering ads at the beginning of the video, the middle of the video, and/or the end of the video. With influencer culture, most YouTube videos are advertisements.

But AO3 is an ad-free space created by fans for fans. They ask for donations to keep running and to pay for lawyers (to protect our right to produce fannish works), what, twice a year? And no one profits off that money. Because AO3 is part of a non-profit organization….

Anway, I’m still baffled by the people out there who think AO3 is an evil organization out to scam people.

The purity wank stuff is another matter altogether.

Wild Night - A RubyxChristina fanfiction

A/N: Hey guys! Here’s an extract from my new fanfiction in which Ruby and Christina meet on Valentine’s Day. If you want to read the whole thing, the link to the full story will be at the end! I hope you enjoy!

Ruby hated Valentine's Day. It wasn't always the case, but years of disappointing boyfriends and nights alone had run her enjoyment for lovers' day very thin. At this point, she wanted nothing more than to be left alone and spend the evening on her couch, eating ice cream and watching some dumb rom-com on TV. But of course, Leti had to meddle.

Come seven p. m., Ruby was standing in a large kitchen, getting ready for a singles-only cooking class. She cursed her sister again. All the participants were standing near the door, awkwardly waiting for the teacher. There were a few tall guys and a few nice girls, although Ruby didn't care much. So long as they weren't too talkative and let her be for the next two hours, it wouldn't be too bad. She could go home afterward and proceed with her night as planned.

The door opened and a woman wearing a navy blue apron with her name stitched in the corner walked in. Julia, it said. Julia smiled at the gathering crowd of students.

"Good evening everyone! My name is Julia and I'll be your teacher for tonight's class. I think we're only missing a few participants. I suggest we get started by finding you each a partner to work with."

She picked up what looked like a cocktail shaker on the table and shook it. When she opened it, the group saw small slips of papers inside.

"Who wants to start?"

One of the guys shrugged and stepped forward. He pulled out a name and read it out loud. The lucky winner, Kate, raised her hand as if she were embarrassed by her own name, and together the new pair walked up to the first work table. Another man stepped forward and he pulled out a guy's name. Together they took the table behind the first pair. Julia agitated the shaker as if it would mix up the papers even more and offered to let one of the girls pick. She pulled out a man's name, and they took the third table. Then, she turned to Ruby.

Ruby pursed her lips, holding in a complaint. She reached inside the shaker. She snatched the first paper she found. She unfolded it and read the name, first in her mind, as she let it sink in, then finally aloud.

"Christina?"

She looked up. No one had stepped forward or raised a hand.

"She must be late," Julia said. "You can take the fourth table, I'm sure she'll be here any minute."

Ruby did as she was instructed. Of course, she would pull the name of someone who wasn't there. She came to stand by the fourth table, at the back of the class. She found two aprons neatly folded on the table. She took off her coat and scarf and hung them on the hook on the wall behind her. It seemed someone else was alone at the front of the class. Ruby figured if their partners didn't arrive in time, Julia would pair them up.

The door opened just as the last pair was sent to their table, and a man walked inside. Ruby frowned. It couldn't be Christina, could it? But no, it was Sebastian, who worked with Debbie at the front of the class. Julia turned to Ruby and asked:

"Are you okay starting on your own? I'm sure your partner will be here shortly."

It wasn't like Ruby could say no. Instead, she shrugged and nodded.

"Yeah, it's no problem."

We’re not Eloping (Until your Dad is Dead) - A RubyxChristina fanfiction

A/N: Hey guys! Here’s an extract from my new story, about Christina’s father thinking William is Chris’ boyfriend and wanting to meet him, so now Ruby has to take the potion and pretend to be William for an evening. If you’re interested, the link to the full story will be at the end.

Christina was about to leave her house when the phone rang. Seeing as there was only one person who ever called her, she clicked her tongue with annoyance, then picked up.

"If you could make it quick, father, I have things to get to."

"It will only be a minute of your time," Samuel Braithwhite replied on the other side. "I only wanted to make sure that you hadn't forgotten about the fundraiser on Friday evening."

Christina rolled her eyes. It wasn't much of a fundraiser, and far more of a meeting of all the richest members of the Order, most of which, in her opinion, were absolutely untalented in the art.

"How could I forget," she answered coldly.

"Good. I shall see you then."

Christina was relieved that the conversation was over, and just about to put the phone back on the hook when her father added:

"I trust you'll bring that blond suitor of yours."

Christina frowned in confusion.

"Who?"

"Don't play dumb with me, you've always been too smart for your own good. Do you really think I would never find out about that blond man who keeps coming in and out of your house at all hours of the day?"

Christina was stunned. Her father had found out about William, except that he believed William was her boyfriend. She waited nervously for him to mention Ruby, but her father continued with William.

"If some of my business partners learned that my daughter was living with a man... So you will bring him, and he'll be introduced as your fiancé, and that is an order."

Christina pursed her lips, preferring to remain silent.

"Am I making myself clear?"

"Yes, sir."

"Good. I will see you on Friday."

Her father hung up, and Christina let out a long, drawn-out breath. She leaned against the armrest of the sofa. Her mind was racing. How was she supposed to explain to her father that William didn't exist anymore? She couldn't tell him. If he knew she had fully developed the metamorphosis potion, he would have no qualm stealing her research and presenting them as his. But if William didn't make an appearance on Friday...

She sighed again. There was only one thing left to do, but she was certain Ruby wouldn't appreciate it.

Paperback - A New Mutants fanfiction

A/N: Hey guys! Here’s an extract from my new New Mutants fanfiction, about Dani selling books to help her high school’s AV club and Rahne all around liking books (and Dani). If you’re interested, the link to the full story is at the end!

Dani reached the fourth floor with a sigh. She was only halfway through the building, and she was really glad that she lived in a single floor cabin at the reservation, and not on the eighth floor of a building without an elevator.

She took a deep breath, cleared the throat, brushed a few strands of dark hair out of her face, and knocked on the nearest door. Swiftly, she pulled a flier out of her bag. The door opened slowly. There was a young woman her age standing on the other side. Her short red hair was shaggy and fell messily just over her brown eyes. She was wearing sweat pants and an oversized sweater. Dani recognized her immediately.

"Hey, you're Rahne, right? We have a few classes together."

Rahne nodded sharply once. Her hands were tugged in the sleeves of her sweater, and she struggled to pull them out.

"You're Dani."

Dani nodded. Rahne usually stuck to the back of the class, where she could disappear and be forgotten by everyone. But Dani had noticed her, staring out the window as if she longed to be always outside.

"Why are you here?" Rahne asks, pulling Dani out of her thoughts.

Dani clears her throat again.

"Yeah, so, um... I'm here to help save the AV club at school."

Dani hands Rahne the flier, and Rahne finally pulls one of her hand out of her sweater to look at it. It's a printed flier which claims in bright color 'Help us save the AV club at Claremont High'. Rahne flipped it open, but before she could read, Dani explained:

"Most of the club left last year after our founding got slashed and now there's only four of us, so the principal wants to close the club. We convinced him to keep it open but he won't give us more money and we need it for our next project."

Most of what Dani said was written almost word for word inside the flier. Rahne looked up from the piece of paper and found Dani staring at her with hopeful eyes.

"What's your project?" Rahne asked.

"We're trying to make a stop-motion short film. If we can finish it before the Christmas break we can enter the State-sponsored student contest. I think if we win something than the principal can't try to shut us down anymore."

Rahne nodded.

"Makes sense. So you're looking for donations?"

"Not quite."

Dani pointed to the middle of the flier, where there was a list of fifteen names with little boxes in front of every item. Rahne read the first few names.

"We're selling books to help raise money. Only public domain one so they're all a bit old but it's a great opportunity if there's a classic you've always wanted to read but never bought."

Rahne was still reading through the list and Dani pursed her lips thoughtfully, trying to remember what else she was supposed to say.

"One book is $5, but if you buy more than three than all the other ones are $3. So it's $15 for three, but $18 for four, $21 for five,..."

Rahne looked up from the flier. Her eyes met Dani's for a second before she looked away.

"If you want to collect money you shouldn't be doing special prices."

Dani shrugged.

"What sounds better? Four books for twenty bucks or five?"

"I see your point."

Rahne bit her lower lip thoughtfully, prompting Dani to glance at her lips before looking away.
