A Guide To Some Of The Best Queer Asian Shows

A Guide to Some of the Best Queer Asian Shows

The guide includes a show’s basic summary; main genres/tropes/themes and official streaming links (additional info on how to watch at the end of this post)! You can find some content warnings in the reply section of this post. Shows are listed by countries, numbered by the order I recommend watching in, not by rating. All shows have happy endings unless specified otherwise. The list will hopefully be updated regularly (last updated on 04/04/2024, 98 queer shows in total).

Most shows are about mlm, I specify with coloured notes those that are focused on wlw, polyamory, aromantism/asexuality, etc.

Tumblr does not allow large texts or more than 30 images per post at the moment, so you can click on every country’s list to expand them and view them fully in a separate post. You can access this guide in a google doc here.

So I Had A Little Think About This Scene. And How Obi-Wan Seems To Always Return People’s Lightsaber

So I had a little think about this scene. And how Obi-Wan seems to always return people’s lightsaber to them however he loses his own often and it hit me…

Obi-Wan Kenobi doesn’t care about his own life, he genuinly doesn’t care and therefor losing his own weapon doesn’t matter if its just him alone against something. It only matters as long as he can protect someone else but the weapon that is his life?

It doesn’t matter. Obi-Wan doesn’t think his own life matters.

So I Had A Little Think About This Scene. And How Obi-Wan Seems To Always Return People’s Lightsaber

But to Cody, that life matters. So he always returns it to Obi-Wan.

Folks out here doing the lords work like a ninja

that feeling when you’ve been reading all those gentle soft happy fanfics where everyone is gay and in love and it’s not a big deal and their friends all support them.

and your favourite superhero couples and detectives and kings and warlocks are just domestic and happy.

and then you emerge into the real world and it’s just not like that.

you walk into your job in the morning and know that if anyone knew, you’d be out the door. kids use the word ‘gay’ as a slur and it might be silly but it makes something hurt inside your chest. you look at your mother and think of the words she’d use to cut you with if you told her. the disgust on her face. you have your family around you and you know it could all be shattered in a minute and it would be you who’d done it.

everyone assumes your straightness. people look at you strangely when you use ‘they/them’ pronouns when asking what their fiancé’s name is, bcs you don’t want to make the same mistake that others make with you. you file forms with spaces for the mother’s name and father’s name and wonder how you’d fill them out if you had a partner and a child. you work with children and wonder what they have to hide about themselves.

and then, sometimes, you go home and read some more fanfic. maybe you write some, or draw fanart if that’s your thing. that’s the best thing, that we’re dreaming about a better world. maybe we’re not famous or published or earning money for what we do. but writing and reading fanworks like this helps a heck of a lot of people, including me, feel happy and comforted and like it’s possible that they might belong one day. that it gets better.

thank you, everyone who creates fanworks where being gay is simply treated as normal. your work is healing and wholesome and full of heart and goodness. and much as i may love the canon, it’s not the canon - it’s the fanworks that are a safe haven to retreat to and recover and heal.

Okay so I may have spent the greater part of the day thinking about this instead of studying but like image:

The Skywalker twins are born earlier in the war & despite the fact that they are all deeply involved in the war Padme + Anakin + Obi Wan (because lets be real he’s parent #3) decide they are going to use paid babysitters as little as possible and have the twins with them as much as possible.

It becomes quickly (and semi-reluctantly) accepted by everyone that Padme and Obi Wan will have a twin or two swaddled against their chests during meetings.

Padme debates policies on the Senate floor with Luke asleep in a sling.

Obi Wan helps organize troop movements with Leia held in one arm, the other hand and just a touch of the Force to keep her entertained.

Anakin quickly masters the art of moving around ships to repair/enhance with  Leia strapped to his chest and Luke his back.

It becomes a common sight to see Ahsoka walking through the halls of the Jedi Temple or the Senate Building with one of the children taking them to one of their parents because “Obi Wan was helping teach the younglings and they got fussy” or “Anakin and I have been sent on an impromptu mission and he’s finishing preparations”.

R2-D2 learns that if you rock the carrier they are in the human infants will stop its screeching.

Half the clones have at some point one of them unceremoniously shoved into their hands with the order of “keep them safe and get them out of here” because a situation has suddenly and unexpectedly erupted into violence and their parent/s are about to run into the fray.

Bail Organa has a small supply of baby toys/a spare set of clothes in his office for occasions where something has come up and Padme needs to go NOW and “would you mind? Just until Obi Wan can get here from the temple?”

There are even times where Mace ends up with one of them in his custody. He spends the time informing them of all the traits of their parents they are not to inherit, starting with “having children with Senators in the middle of a war”

I think I could go on forever but just the Skywalker twins ending up with like 100 unintentional non-blood aunt/uncles because there is a war going on & their parents are determined to use as little hired help as possible (so instead all their friends end up being roped into it)

dcmk fancanons that we forgot were fancanons

Off the top of my head (and feel free to add; I know I’m missing a ton):

1) since when were kaito’s eyes “a dashing shade of violet”

2) hakuba does NOT wear glasses

3) hakuba has been in england for like the past 10 years, so all your ekoda hs fics are fantasies waiting to be fulfilled

4) i’m pretty sure we took the aoko-and-mop thing and blasted it up ten levels

5) kaito’s famous “nobody gets hurt” policy at heist. i know this one’s hard, but when did he ever actually say that?

6) i love kaishin, but i feel like a good chunk of kaishin fics don’t do shinichi’s character justice. if you’ve read some (the majority, not just the top few), you’ll know what I’m talking about. like fam. we’re talking about kudou shinichi here. even as a seven-year-old, he’s still got a huge ego and the visceral need for control of any given situation. for some reason he ended up as the fandom’s preferred bottom, which is fine, but i can’t imagine him jumping ship that easily.

7) something about kaito and his obsession with crossdressing and panties.

8) the whole “mk black organization is the same dc black organization” mega-theory. y’all know the similarities exist only because gosho’s lazy and re-used the same basic plotline (ok not really, but dc was definitely built out of lessons learned from mk)

9) kaito’s tendency to booby-trap everything. yes, i’m sure he has a bunch of smoke grenades stored somewhere, but I’ve seen so many fics where there’s an entire scene dedicated to just somebody trying to make their way through kaito’s wardrobe or belongings without spontaneously combusting.

10) and last but not least, if kaito and shinichi aren’t cousins, they’re fucking. it’s a given fact.
