Cirrus release‼️‼️

sadly still not 100% my vibe but wool and gnarlhorns go crazy. I think whats throwing me off is the lore doesnt feel as ancient as id prefer it. Still cool just not my vibe

I like to think that

Cirrus are rather large and while they have no wings to fly they can turn their entire body into a cloud to fly. Bigger the cirrus bigger the cloud body. Larger the cloud the more power and respect you wield.

Cirrus with gnarlhorns are seen as like leaders of the herd. They are often larger than other cirrus's to allow them to hold up the weight of the heavier horns

Cirrus's with wool are seen as exceptionally beautiful and they love to style it. They are very popular in communal sleeping spaces given their warm soft pelts.

battling cirrus helped shape the zephyr steps before attitudes changed toward more peaceful alternatives of working out differences arose.

They enjoy kites and wearing accessories to parties. Sadly not everyday as if they go to fly they would drop all they had on them.

Nothing to wildly different but still some personal changes and lore. Overall as a wind flight resident the cirrus are a lovely addition. Not my favorite but still I enjoy them. my little horse 🐎

Honestly though it would be cool if scavengers were like wof's Bigfoot. No one has exactly seen them but dragons claim to have caught sightings. Claims of what they look like range. "I saw a big fuzzy one in the mountains!" "No I saw one and it was lanky with sharp claws!"

Humans in wof feel similar to when a horror movie shows you its monster too early. You often loose all suspense, fear, and mystery when that happens. Like it went from "omg did humans really take down a dragon queen? How?" to just "Oh.. ok I guess they did..and theyre just plain ol humans." If they were kept a bit more mysterious they probably could have meshed with the story better. cause really imagine if it was a dragonbite viper that killed oasis but due to the mystery around humans a rumor was started it was a scavenger.

Overall humans are an awkward fit in wof cause I dont think it was decided on whether they were harmless small creatures or powerful dragonslayers (lol) when it probably would have been better to lean into one or the other instead of keeping a middle ground. like I get there is some plot around that but it just doesnt feel like it works in this setting.

the series would have been better if scavengers were never there. imagine how cool it wouldve been if oasis died to a dragonbite viper, and burn died in the exact same way her mother did

To those like me find your mother figure. No one will replace your mom but having someone you can look to can help. I got my aunt and other miscellaneous mother figures.

Im begging Tui that this "hybrid prince" is part mudwing. As much as it would be neat to see peacemaker or some other rain/night ive had my fill of nightwing characters. As both villains and heros. Maybe I'm bias but we have had so few mudwings it's 😭 ive also had my fill of rain, ice, sea, and even skywing royals.

My life is yours tui if you make the main character a mudwing who *stays* a prominent main character throughout the arc

(Of course whatever happens will most likely still be an enjoyable read so it's not that big of a deal but man would I love some mudwing characters and world building :,) )

buttt for fr tips and my own personal process

I often write out my comic like a story that way if its a longer comic I know how things are going to go. If its a shorter story though you can skip this and go into storyboard/plan mode if you feel confident

For example page 11 from a comic im working on with Master Weevil master of evil

Step 1 the story excerpt

all the way from my samsung notes app

"Tecton never stopped his glare, but I was used to it. He never liked my relationship with the villain. Partly about how long it had been going on behind his back. Partly for the PR nightmare it could create.

"I think Prisma should be to one to contact him. She did it last time and I believe a familiar face will be best." He flashed that condescending smirk. "Ok but what's our bribe? Villains will never work for free." Atlas perked up flipping through a tablet's screens. "We don't have a lot of resources… too much is being spent on helping our heros recover. We could try to get the government involv-" "No no. I think Prisma will be able to strike a fine deal with Master weevil… or get a quote I suppose." Tecton chuckled leaning further back in his seat."

Step 2 plotting out the pannels and dialogue

I would say plotting is the most important part as this is where you figure out how the scene is going to look and what text you are going to use to help it. Comics are fun because its easier to show not tell but that doesnt mean you cant accidentally show and not tell enough. Dont be afraid to add little tags to tell locations or times.

Dont get caught up in making these tiny plot pages look good. They dont need to as most likely youll be changing something at somepoint. So dont waste energy on simple planning.

One thing you should pay attention to is numbering pages and making sure any dialogue you write is with the proper page. This is from personal experience as Ill work on a comic for a little, forget, then come back so its best to have things clear.

Step 3 and onward

Sketch your page and place out the dialogue bubble. You may change up some lines or pannels at this stage to better fit in what you need and cut what you dont.

The rest is straight forward! Line, color, shade, etc!

overall your writing process for the comic will vary. Im more on the art side of comics so my writing isnt as detailed as my art ends up showing.

Hope some of my rambling helps and if I can give any final wisdom its to have fun! Comics become hell on earth if you dont have at least a little fun.

I'm up so that means yall are going to listen to me ramble about my fantribe weevilwings.

Lord Brimstone, cousin of Queen Cressida, Knight

Highly disciplined and selfless to the point of extreme, he denies all royal spoils in favor of walking a knights path. He has yet to learn balance in this life as you cant truly put others before you for so long

As most knights do they must go through Capella's cruel choice. Capella, goddess of the sun, calls forth her knights without pause... even for grief. Most suits of armor are passed down from mentor to student meaning to become a full knight your mentor must die. Truly the harshest moment of poor Brimstones life.

The weevilwing council isn't much for having the 4th in line for throne (hear brimstone eye roll) running around doing selfless knight work so they forbid him from doing it. Still he slips away at night.

Another new adventure Brimstone is on is funding weevil islands house for dragonets. Not every hatchling and dragonet has a family. Spirit started this home by herself in an old abandoned army outpost but given the place was falling apart and constantly stolen from by theives she reached out to the council for help. Denied and sent home in tears, little did she know Brimstone had witnessed the meeting.

He now funds the home referred to as "The House of Brimstone" and does his best to personally protect it. Which helps his want to be selfless but can be difficult when dragonets are everywhere pulling on your beard, asking to borrow your chest plate for sledding, constantly getting stuck in your armor.... but still it feels nice to protect those in need... and visit spirit...

Cats on my dash

Finished my re read of arc 2 wof and I dont have arc 3 so I went back to warrior cat books to pass time at work... which of course turns to me making more lore with my clans.

So today ive got more cats from Breezeclan

Pumpkinpetal, she/her, warrior.

Sister of Honeydrop. Big personality big collector. Got told to cut back on the flower collection as it was causing bad allergies. Not a great hunter nor does she enjoy fighting but her tracking skills are unmatched. She often leads patrols or help direct hunters toward prey.

Fogquill, she/her, warrior

An odd warrior known for her odd skill. She is the only cat of the clan who knows how to hunt porcupine. While most cats stay away in fear of getting quills to the face she runs straight toward them. Her pelt is often covered in quills and no one knows if its for decoration or they're stuck.

Spottedsun, he/him, warrior

A good hunter and loyal to the clan, hes the guy you go to when you need a listening ear. Hes not the guy you want next to you in battle tho. Hes not a fighter and wont got cat vs cat. He'll fight wolves before he fights a fellow cat.

Soft

Locked in tonight. Made a whole pmv. My babies...Ough my babies Ton and Olvidia. Knew each other back in Tons henchmaning days but broke apart after ton had to skedaddle. Meet up later and of course old feelings return

Weevil dude has been on the mind as I continued to write out his and Prismas story. Old farts I love them. It's also really fun to flesh out a superhero/super villain world

General update. Somehow I'm passing classes. Full A on making an animated web ad last week when it's was far from my best work. But from the feedback I got I suspect a classmate or two ignored instruction 💀 (professor sounded fed up)

Currently at work going wild cause as much as i love getting paid to sit and do nothing for 6 n half hours you start to go crazy just sitting without human interaction

Sadly I haven't been doing too many big pieces as I've been focusing on college and comms. Yet I've been making plenty of dragons

First 2 and last nightwing are customs. While the seal seawing is an adopt (which is currently still open, if interested I'll link ya to the toyhouse profile)

Overall tho it's been nice to make dragons among the Adobe animate work... ie bouncing marbles

Completed my first ever dnd campaign! Where i stumbled through dming lmao. Who could deny a good dragon fight tho. Fireballs were being thrown, death saves flying about, tabaxis pushing statues into the water. All the good stuff

Sandwing cowboys

Vulture is a very cool villain I wish we could have seen more of him. Truly he is a villain I feel even with his short screen time was perfectly shown to be absolutely terrifying and ruthless. Which then also made me think about how cool it would be if he was like an outlaw/ cowboy villain.

As well as if he was more bird/ vulture like.

while I didnt doodle it I imagine him to be a bit more wyvern like. Gives him swifter and more agile movements in the skys. An absolute terror in flight. Then with his crew they are a travelling merchant's worst nightmare

Qibli in this cowboy au would be more of an actual cowboy. Trading his past to help out thorn with actual cattle for the scorpion den. So think of those western movies where theres always the good cowboy and the evil cowboy. Pretty much qibli vs vulture.

Overall this way made late at night and i havent thought too terribly far into it 💀 but who doesnt enjoy a good western every now and then

And yes I see the spelling error on the logo 💀 a friend brought it up and I have yet to fix it BUT it did give inspiration to this comic

He works to be your weirdest boss so when you go out into the world no wacky villain will phase you. Evil laugh? Heard it. Odd outfit? I've seen an old weevil dude in a black skin tight suit this is nothing. Will critique how you email? Already happened. Overall he's my goofy guy

Dragon mom

The wof mama's series was made because I was missing my mom. This one is more a memorial for her as today is the day she passed. May you come back as my mom in every universe ❤️

Im so so glad the wof mama's doodles are so beloved. I got many nice messages and even saw others showing their own moms. It's exactly what I wanted those doodles to bring their viewers. Thank you for the support 🫶

Polar bear point

2nd chapter of the viruswing story is up and introduces a a key location within the viruswing au.

Polar bear point is in the farthest reaches of the icewing kingdom. It is tavern like with plenty of food, drink, and entertainment but also has housing. While it welcomes all Cyborgs are its main customer.

Polar bear point is one of the harsher outposts of sorts. You need to be able to hold your own out here to survive. The tough nature drives away icewing guards and any prying detectives.

It's location in the harsh cold also drives away the viruswings...

very very true. Ive been re reading the books at work and all romance is just kinda tacked on. It doesnt really flow with characters or the story.

I wont lie there are some cute scenes. I enjoyed riptide helping tsunami with aquatic but out of all ships tui has tried the only one I really like is mangrove and orchid... its probably because there meeting and falling in love was off screen.

I love tuis work with friendships and sibling bonds but I feel they get overshadowed by her attempts at romance :( for example i feel arc 2 would have been such a cool arc to see friendship this between the winglet but there is just this constant out of no where crushes. Tui could still do crushes within the winglet but she needed more of them strengthening their friendship before all that.

SHOW me a reason to have them go "oh I have a crush on *insert character*" cause i dont like how much it is (usually) the character going "I dont know why, maybe because theyre pretty and smart and funny and strong and and and"

im rambling again about a kids book lol but still 💀

ive come to the conclusion that tui is just bad at writing romance. no point in arguing which ones better all of these ships suck equally we can go home now

viruswing main characters

Our main gal Calamity. Daughter of brightmind and silverscales. Her father recently passed along with her grandfather Darkstone in a mysterious explosion.

Her mother is extremely superstitious. She won't walk under ladders, cross paths with a black cat, place two mirrors facing each other. Etc. While she won't exactly tell her daughter Calamity knows she believes her to be bad luck.

Calamity's life has been boring as she stays in the background going along with whatever her mother wanted. Her grandfather was her best friend for a long time. Now Silvescales is wanting her to marry which is something Calamity hadn't even imagined. Good thing she has 3 mysterious robots to distract her... hey wait-

Muskeg the cyborg. Has bits n pieces from all tribes. Most recent piece being a mechanical eye from a nightwing. He doesn't exactly know why he keeps loosing bits n pieces of his body, he just knows he's constantly replacing them. A gut from seawings, back leg from icewings, heart from the rainwings, an arm from the mudwings, and he used to have wings from skywings... but those go for a lot of gold in the sandwing kingdom.

Overall the story will be following these two as they work toward the mystery behind these viruswing creation and hopefully stopping the hungry creatures from destroying all of dragonkind

yep! The first chapter of the story is up I'm just slow on updates lol. I had a bunch of lore pertaining to the tech styles of the Canon tribes as well as the current state of leadership. I just gotta move it into the toyhouse world

mom said it was my turn with the Carnelian lives au

I know everyone and their mother makes these but honestly Carnelian and umber should have had 10x more screentime (biased lmao)

Anyway in my au Carnelian does die but skywing gods deem her worthy of rebirth due to her fighting spirit. She has served the skywing tribe all her life and doesnt deserve to have it end via failed assasination attempt

After being left in the mourning cave she awakens with odd new features including feathered ears and golden scales. every wound from the dragoncactus is now covered in a golden shell. Scars remain to remind her of her strength and the gold is representative of fire. Her wing webbing having been burned is now also glittering gold, some refer to it as looking like golden silk tightly weaved together. The feathered ears are more of mystery but does spark many religious theories (I really just wanted to give her an owl like head 💀)

Of course her return startles many and causes rise of more animus speculation but Queen Ruby is happy to have her back. I believe Carnelian would remain a the academy for a few years but only to cram in all her classes then return to the skywing kindom. She wouldnt really stick around to make friends but she wouldnt look down on her winglet and would act a bit friendlier towards them.

In the future she becomes a general, though with the lack of war she found herself participating in more community activities and service. This helps her become a highly reguarded general, loved by many. She'll never settle down and have dragonets but the community will reguard her as a motherly figure. Old and wise she becomes.

overall this au is, again, giving a character I like a break lmao. but this also experiments with the kinda "god" like figures and beliefs briefly mentioned in the books (even tho skywings are kinda more reincarnation baised) idk any way is interesting to me

I just wanted to say before i asked of anything, you are such a huge inspiration to my own wings of fire fanart; i absolutely adore ur art and lovely characters,, seeing ur year review from ur most recent post was insanee your art has grown with you fantastically !!!! i found ur drawings around july or august maybe,, and ive been the biggest fan of it ever since. Sunhunter has been one of my favorite characters since like the dawn of time, SUCH an interesting idea for her to see pieces of fate in bodies of water,, but I digress !!!

I don't have a real reference for her yet EEK but she's the short purple one in the center of the three siblings !!! altho shes kind of a wip, for her character I'd say she's pretty silent but sharp, like her eyes are reflecting the idea of you through mirrors. she knows what you are before you do. lowkey eerie in nature. I like drawing her in shadows a lot. she's a very clever cookie I like to think, obsessed with the idea of justice; but before her Torment(tm) arc, she was just an ordinary girl with perhaps a bit too much anger. a little weird/socially clumsy when it came to calmer interactions with others. even so she always tried to be kind. if in her strange and quiet little ways; since she's kinda just a head bust rn I don't mind at all if improvisation is needed !!!
