Ruler of the Black Flame illustration cards. (I prefer to showcase the illustration rares without having to do gifs for them, but a few regular cards were also featured.)
The time machine showing more of a wishful past or future could possibly feed into obsession.
Imagine that you've dedicated years to build a time machine and then it not only works, but shows you exactly what you want. It could make you want to keep going back to the time machine to try and prove yourself as much as possible or (specifically for the future) trying to make that perfect future as much as possible because you've already seen it.
Even if that future isn't real, just your wish.
The ability to create a vicious cycle with your wish and constantly trying to make it come true because it feels so real.
That could possibly be an explanation for Sada and Turo ignoring Arven and staying in the lab, an obsession with their wishes.
Obsession comes up a few times throughout Scarlet and Violet. Nemona with her battling, Arven with healing Mabosstiff and the Herba Mystica, and the professors with their research. (obsession might be too strong of a word and Arven and Nemona have solid reasons for theirs)
Like a moth drawn to the flame. That might explain why there are so many moths in Area Zero.
Hello! I have a sv question for you!
(Apologies if you have already answered something similar)
Turo/Sada’s time travel machine came up in conversation between me and a friend, and I mentioned out loud the ‘imagination machine’ theory, and the more we talked about it the more it made sense!
The theory is that rather than being a true link to the past/future, the machine only leads to what the operator wants it to lead to. This would explain why sada and turo’s versions of the machine are visually the same, why all the past/future pokemon have very similar traits (past pokemon all being extra spiky/dinosaur looking and future pokemon all having the same chrome & jointed look), and why there is no mention of hisui/hisuian pokemon in Sada’s research. It also explains why the pokemon seem to fit very well into the environment (too well, but the paradox pokemon aren’t on the bad end of that) and why all versions of the pokemon are found in a wacky occult magazine.
Please keep in mind we haven’t seen masters or dlc content, but if anything in there supports/denies the theory please do not hesitate to share!!
Also I apologise for the length of this ask, but Thankyou for reading!!!
No worries abt the length! Half my posts are under a readmore bc I'm longwinded so I get it haha. Anyway, totally agreed, there is no way in hell it's an actual time machine
Like you said, the time machines function identically and seem to have pokemon based on modern fictional interpretations rather than actual prehistoric pokemon. They resemble scifi costumes or children's dinosaur drawings more than actual genuine creatures, and I think that goofiness is supposed to be a clue that these are made from the professor's ideas of paradise rather than a genuine time machine
Not only that, but the whole game seems very centered around wishes moreso than time. It does have a lot of components of legacy, and you do get dialogue about "the future of Paldea" and whatnot, but most of the dialogue seems focused around treasure, wishes, and wants rather than time. It also makes more sense when you think about Terapagos-- it seems way more like a wish pokemon than a time pokemon, and since the tera crystals are powering the time machine anyway, I would hazard a guess that the entire thing is a wish granting machine. I also think that would elevate the themes of the professor's storyline-- hunting for treasure and wishes gone wrong, etc etc.
Anyway tldr I'm with you, I don't think it's a time machine I think it's a wish machine. DLC might contradict this so we'll see! Masters can suck it tho that game means nothing to me
John holding a small child :)
So I may have missed a few days, but I'm here now.
So far we've done: Dragalge, Skuntank, Cramorant, Lechonk, Delibird, Eglyem, Dusclops, Axew, Bulbasaur, Raticate, and Hattrem
12 Dratini
Noodle!
This is probably in my top 10 favourites from Gen 1, because it's a noodle. The nose is so big compared to the itty bitty face.
It's so small and so precious. It looks so smooth, like a noodle.
8/10. Noodle
13 Pincurchin
He looks so done with everyone's bullshit.
It's very small and I like that. The two littles balls at the front of the face is odd, but in a cute way. Also the eyes being downward arrows is cute.
I would hate to step on him.
7/10. Prickly little guy.
14. Clefairy
Look at how pink it is!!! I love the little blush stickers and the hair curl and the little tooth!
This is my little baby. I also enjoy the Clefairy minigame in Pokémon Stadium, as frustrating as it can be
8/10. Baby pink thing
15. Tympole
I like the music elements in the design. The little eyebrows look like notes, and it looks like it's wearing headphones.
The blue they used is very fresh and compliments the black accents. Cute, but honestly kind of forgettable to me as I usually use Oshawott in Unova and only in two other game sets (ORAS, and SwSh)
6/10. Above average, but forgettable.
Why are taxi drivers either the slowest motherfuckers you've ever had the pleasure of sharing a vehicle with
Or
Drive like their in a Hollywood car chase so you get thrown around like popcorn in a popcorn machine
Spooky day is inching closer and closer!
So far we've done: Dragalge, Skuntank, Cramorant, Lechonk, Delibird, Eglyem, Dusclops, Axew, Bulbasaur, Raticate, and Hattrem, Dratini, Pincurchin, Clefairy, and Tympole
22 Happiny
I mean of all of the useless babies, this one felt the most useless
Like of all things why on earth would you give Chansey a baby? It's at least a little cute though. The evolution method is also really stupid, like why an oval stone.
It makes no sense.
6/10. Cuteness can't save confusion
23 Shiinotic
Look at the little guy!!!
I love mushrooms so a pink cutesy mushroom is a great design to me. It's super duper cute, but also creepy with how it lures people into the forest.
Perfect for Halloween and great for me.
My friend also thinks it's cute and what she says goes.
8/10. The lower body looks like an Igglybuff.
23 Persian
This is one of the worst Pokemon designs ever.
It's seriously just a cat. Not even the name is interesting, when I was googling the picture the first like 7 things, were the actual cat
2/10. boring
24 Dustox
I like Dustox a lot. Sure it's an early game bug so it's not super useful, but it does look pretty badass.
The green and purple go really nicely together, and I like the little smile it has. makes it look like it's scheming
Also I really like the shiny.
8/10. Mothman does good
25 Palpitoad
Well we did Tympole, and now we got the ugly evolution.
Like it takes everything I liked about Tympole, and just removed and left an ugly frog.
3/10. Worse Tympole
26 Pawmot
Alright, this art had a lot of personality and it's cute.
Not honestly a huge fan of Pawmot. It's not bad by any means, but the design never did much for me. The evolution is also so annoying to actually acomplish.
6/10. not bad but not for me
27 Wiglet
This guy is so stupid.
In the good way of course. Of all things, I didn't expect Diglett to get any new attention after the Aloaln form, but I was wrong.
I used a Wiglett in my Violet playthrough, and it sucked, but it was still really cute
7/10. weird but cute
28 Croagunk
Honestly, I forgot how much I actually enjoyed gunky boy. One of the cooler Sinnoh lines with the nice colours.
I also love the teal shiny. Also he could pull off Crazy Frog pretty well.
8/10. Let's get gunky
29 Crustle
He looks so mad at everything.
Grumpy crab using a rock as a shell is certainly a concept, and it works pretty well. It also has another really cool shiny with the lime green accents.
Also I call Dwebble, Dweeble.
8/10. Crab time
30 Exegutor
I hate spelling this.
I like Alolan Exegutor way kore than the original, but this is the one the generator gave me.
The faces are just a little too weird for me, and the weird palm tree body doesn't help.
4/10. Taking a point away for the spelling.
31 Tapu Bulu
Way to end on a bang with a legendary.
Unfortunately Tapu Bulu is my least favourite of the Tapu's, but it's not bad.
The body is a super funky shape, which helps it stand out from other Pokemon, and the red compliments the yellow.
I also like the bull imagery with the hoof arms and bell tail
6/10. Not a personal favourite, but alright.
Happy Halloween Y'all!!!
no cheating by looking but who do you think your Spotify top artist is gonna be this year 👀
Time for another double feature! I honestly like these more so they may become more frequent instead of singles.
So far we’ve done: Dragalge, Skuntank, Cramorant, Lechonk, Delibird,
10. Raticate
It’s a rat.
That’s literally all I have to say about this thing. Like, it’s not even cute like other early route normal things.
Sure it’s not bad early game, getting moves like Hyper Fang early is always good, but it’s so ugly.
4/10. Just no.
11 Hattrem
Cute!
I love this whole line and the concept behind them and Hattrem is super cute!
Can you tell I like cute things?
The blue and pink together make me think of candy floss, which is always good. I like who it moves around on its hair, it looks very ridiculous but it works pretty well.
Also the big pretty eyes.
7/10. Cutie Patootie that must be protected.
