Jb 11/18/17 mythical beasts day 6 Valravn(e) Wiki:
According to Danish folklore recorded in the late 1800s, when a king or chieftain was killed in battle and not found and buried, ravens came and ate him. The ravens became valravne. The valravne that ate the king’s heart gained human knowledge and could perform great malicious acts, could lead people astray, had superhuman powers, and were “terrible animals”.
In another account, a valravn is described as a peaceless soul in search of redemption that flies by night (but never day) and can only free itself from its animal countenance by consuming the blood of a child.
Raven, carry my woes, my sorrows, black bird. The raven was primarily seen as an ill omen, a messenger of death and grief. It was strongly associated with witchcraft and shape shifting and was often called "the witch bird".
However, in one of the songs of the ancient Finns the raven was also an empathetic helper; a bird you could trust your sorrows with and it would ease your pain by carrying the woes beyond dark waters so that they would no longer bother anyone.

Anyone remember Harpy? My undead wolf-raven gryphon that’s in reality a Valravn of old, a ghoulish creature from Scandinavian folklore, I had fun with in my MLP days as an OC.
Decided to draw her again today, just as a quick practice on drawing a raven cuz birds are hard. I think she turned out quite nicely.
Do enjoy!

“Feathered Dinosaurs aren’t scary,” is false, it’s about how it is presented and nothing is more terrifying than a bitter truth.

Valravns on the prowl!
Ever since I finished my valravn mass attack last year, I asked myself, how could I ever follow it up? I missed quite a few characters last year (I am SO sorry that I missed you guys) and there's going to be newcomers this year. What should I do? Another valravn mass attack, of course.
You can find this piece on Art Fight here. As for what all of these characters are up to and where they're going...well, who knows? Surely nothing nefarious.
