“Wife, do you want the garnet or sapphire?” It was a peaceful afternoon where you indulge yourself in embroidery moments before Malleus had decided to join you in the drawing room. After the birthday banquet of Marquis Hagen’s wife, Malleus could be found everywhere you looked. He had even started to join you for dinner. It was as if he’d been glued to your side and could not separate from you. It was honestly terrifying to have the fae’s looming build stare at you all day every day, watching every step you took and every air you breathe in. ‘His eyes are terrifying..’
You have also come to learn that he has indeed found a.. Nickname, you guess. It is just a title but it’s a bit better than the last.
He wanted to do some bonding time with you, you assume, but when you try to initiate conversation at times to keep him entertained, the words would die on your tongue as soon as you make eye contact with him.
He inspects the gems that are lined up neatly in rows on the table with the jeweller having stood at the side for some time and turned his head slightly to look at you. So far, you haven't shown any reactions to any, probably because you’re mainly caught up in the swirl of anxiety simply being near Malleus, too scared to move your arms that are laid stiffly on your lap. But you had to say something, otherwise nobody could leave this room. “Hm.. Oh!” A particular gem’s gleam caught the attention of your eyes amongst many of the other shiny accessories. Your hand reaches out for the small box containing the jewellery which was a necklace made of gold with two small ruby gems and a single, slightly larger one in the middle all carved to look like roses. If you had to choose a necklace, you guessed that this one would be most fitting.
“Ah, Princess! You have quite the discerning eyes for true beauty!” The jeweller’s eyes lit up and began rubbing his hands together. “The gem has been the highest rarity ever seen of its own kind; it has been recently mined and brought to our craftsman!”
Malleus, seeing the satisfied look you had on your face whilst staring at the necklace, nodded towards the jeweller. No words weren’t needed to be exchanged and the jeweller started packing the rest of the jewellery, readying himself to leave soon afterwards. “Are you sure that that is the only one you want, chil— ahem— wife?” He asks, taking a sip of his drink and looking at your form from the corner of his eyes to which you hummed in reassurance that you were indeed satisfied with just having one necklace at the moment. He had assumed that all ladies liked jewellery so he had made sure to have the fae bring in all of their best stocks, no matter the price. “Thank you, Your Highness.” Still, you had agreed to his idea to have the jeweller come in. Surely, he thinks, that this will satisfy the old fae who he knows isn’t too far that had been pestering him to not leave a “weeping princess alone,” or so he said.
Just outside the door, hurried footsteps could be heard coming towards the room before stopping short right outside and then knocking on the door with composure so as to not offend the person on the other side. Once Malleus beckons them in, an air of urgency filled the room that both of you could sense. “Speak.” Malleus crosses both his legs and his arms and looks on with a serious look— and possibly with a pout, if your eyes aren’t deceiving you. “Your Highness, a human whom calls himself the prince of the Rose Kingdom is asking for your attendance..” Your two eyebrows shot up at the mention of the prince. A hand makes a loose fist on your chest as your heartbeat increases slightly. There was a moment of pause as Malleus stood up, readying to see the prince, and the messenger quickly took a glance past his shoulders and made direct eye contact at you. “Err, and the princess as well.” Both of your curiosity were piqued now. Hearing that the prince of your homeland was here is surprising enough, but to want to see you..? You were curious to why a royal would come all this way unannounced and to see you who has no power in this kingdom but title. If he’s here for something, then surely it is something that you cannot grant.
Nevertheless, you both went to the entrance of the castle. There, a boy with hair red as roses stood, tapping his foot impatiently and idly, careful eyes inspecting what he could and the servant faes who stood quietly on both sides. There was an air of distrust and it laid thickly in the air. “Rosehearts,” Malleus speaks as the both of you entered the scene. You walked behind him but the moment you entered, the red-head had averted his full attention to you. He was silent for a while, grey eyes just staring intently into your own.
Malleus noticed how his eyes weren’t focused on him and looked to where the prince was looking. His eyes narrow for a brief moment and this is not taken to notice by the fellow royal blood. “Tell me, Crown Prince of the Rose Kingdom, what reason did you come here rather unannounced?” Malleus got straight to the point, snapping the prince out of his daze and diverting his attention away. “I heard that you came alone on horseback.”
The red-head covers his mouth with a fist and clears his throat before facing the fae who stood at a stark difference in height compared to himself. “If I were to bring them along, they’d only slow me down. Besides, it’s nearly impossible for magicless carriages to traverse these lands.” He puts into careful words to which you could agree. When you came here, it took the entire day on normal carriages that took the long— yet safe— route to get to the castle. “Hm. Then I apologize for the arduous journey,” Malleus says with a rather bored tone and crosses his arm. “I would have offered you tea by now and a rest, but I presume that you did not come here for idle chat.” For an unknown reason, he was becoming more restless, his foot tapping just how the rose prince in front of him once did before they entered. There was a tone in his voice that was rather telling; telling the short male to spit it out already and get out of here.
“.. I will be in charge of the peace treaty from henceforth and wish to discuss certain agreements listed that could be misunderstood.. ” He explains. His eyes wander to you for a brief moment before returning them to stare at Malleus with a certain look as if asking him to a challenge. “Afterwards, I would like to have a conversation with [Name].. Alone.” At his words, Malleus’ pupils retracted into two, thin slits, though this went unnoticed by the both of you. The draconic fae glances at you, wondering how exactly close you were to him. To know of the prince is nothing to boast about since you were once a citizen of the kingdom but the look either of you gave and how you reacted earlier to when that servant said that the prince wanted to see you too suggests that you knew each other on a more intimate level.
“I’m afraid I can’t allow that.” Malleus does not have any personal grudges against him, don’t get it wrong. In fact, he venerated the prince; he is a human with great prowess and strong affinity towards magic and whilst he has all this, he shows all the best qualities found in man. He is a perfect example of a leader— a future king. However, he will not allow another man to have a conversation with you in private. Who knows what could happen without his supervision? You were naive compared to anybody in the room, this he believes, so there is no doubt in his mind that you do not know the consequences.. A consequence from the rumours that’ll spread. An unmarried man and a married woman, alone in a room. No husband, no servants..
“I believe I have the right to see how my people are faring in an unfamiliar place,” Riddle shoots back. Malleus’ jaws tighten and you are sweating buckets at the stiff air that continues to build up. “I sincerely apologize for my rather.. Blunt correction, but she isn’t a person belonging to the Rose Kingdom anymore; she is now the princess of the Valley of Thorns and the creatures here are her future subjects,” Malleus corrected facts in an eerily calm paced tone, his right palm raised in the air while doing so in an open gesture saying to understand where he is coming from. Riddle’s hands turned into fists and his face warped into an ugly look, his eyebrows furrowing as low as it could.
You have heard of this infamous look the red prince would have whenever something does not go his way and it greatly upsets him. When you look around, the faes in the vicinity— that included the servants as well— could sense hostility and were ready to attack should anything happen to their prince. If this continues, another long war might break out and you definitely do not want that.. “A-ah.. Your Highness..” You look towards the dark prince with a nervous gaze. Malleus turns his head at your call. “It would really make me happy to talk to somebody from my homeland..
“If we can’t have a private conversation, then would one at the garden be alright with you?” You spill out each word rather slowly and softly in hopes he’d relax a bit. You have secretly wanted to also have a chat with the prince so maybe if you persist, he’ll relent.
His eyes look thoughtful and take your words into careful suggestions. “I’ll allow it..” He sighs and you couldn’t help but smile excitedly. He raises an eyebrow, his silent question is now bubbling up into many more unanswered questions. The look you have really does suggest that there is something more than meets the eye with the two. “But on one condition.” Ah. You should have seen it coming. But surely, it can’t be that bad so you nodded. “One of the guards will be on standby..
“Is that alright with you, Rosehearts?” He looks again towards the short male. “You must understand, it is not that I do not trust you; in the case something happens to my wife, another century of discord might ignite, and let’s not even begin to think of a future between the kingdoms should anything happen to the Rose Kingdom’s only prince..”
Silver eyes bore deeply into luminescent green ones. He was thinking, but not about his words; rather, he was seeing if he could form more words that would allow the situation to go his way. The prince sighs, knowing that this may be the better condition and probably the only chance to speak with you.
—
You have always felt that time was a lot slower in the Valley. Even back home, if you just stare outside the window of any of the higher floors, you’d see many citizens walking about and soldiers under the command of the resident baron doing their best to ensure the safety of the people whilst on the land he governs. In the Valley, the faes had all the time a human could ever want and more than not everything needs to be done by a certain date. It makes you feel as if you were the only one in a state of frantic of the little time you have left.
“Are you alright, [Name]?” A voice softly brings you back from your thoughts; you had been staring at your tea this whole time. “Oh, yes! Sorry, I was just thinking of some stuff..” You raise your chin up to meet grey orbs staring into your own. They weren’t any sort of warm colour such as brown, but you nevertheless found tranquillity when staring into them. As of this moment, you feel as if the time you chase so much while being in this place isn’t so important; that you did not mind how faes had time begging for them and were just happy to be there especially now that a familiar face has come to join you.
“Um, you didn’t say anything important just now, did you, Riddle?” You felt a cold sweat run down the back of your neck and an awkward, lopsided smile was aimed towards him. “Hm..” He narrows his eyes just a bit, carefully taking note of the weird look on your face, an eyebrow raised higher than the other.
Seeing as he just continues to stare at you in silence, you begin to get nervous and look everywhere else but his eyes and squirm in your seat. It wasn’t long until you heard the soft exhale of a breath and you lifted your head back up carefully. He is leaning back on his seat and crosses his legs over the other. You watch as his complexion relaxes. He closed his eyes and kept quiet for a bit.
You sat there with a tight-lipped smile, clearly it was forced. “Did.. Did you say something important..?” You say softly and carefully. It really only takes one wrong step before you’d be ensuring his wrath. His eyelashes flutter slowly like a feather when he opens his eyes to reveal those grey orbs once more.
“Riddle?” He repeats, crossing his arm and looks at you judgmentally. It took you a while until it clicked. “Ah.. S-sorry! I meant Your Highness!” Your eyes become wide as you correct yourself quickly; your hands flail in front of you. You had started to miss the life you had before deeply. So, when you saw a familiar face from that not-so distant past, it made you think that even for a brief second, you could return to that dream where you’ll be allowed to let down formalities. But, you did not take into account that Riddle would always be someone of higher status than you and that even then, you addressed him with respect.
He shakes his head, a small smile on his lips that you could not catch. Despite being in a foreign country, Riddle sees that you do not seem to be stricken with the look of fatigue and longing for home and that alone makes him feel much more at ease, knowing that you are okay. “Please, continue to call me Riddle,” his eyes speak of words, but unfortunately, it could not be read. “We have been intimate friends since our youth so I believe it is only right that you address me intimately, [Name].” He had always said your name without adding any title while you couldn’t, so having the opportunity to.. You feel your heart squeeze and a smile of your own comes to form and open your mouth to speak, “I.. Oh, but..” There then comes a realization that another, different rule now stops you. “I can’t..
“I am now a princess of another kingdom.. They will find it suspicious if I address you too casually and rumours might start..” You look over your shoulder to the guard stationed nearby, just as agreed with between him and Malleus.
Riddle’s eyes directs to the same direction you were looking at. And, with a stern look on his face when your eyes meet, he speaks, “Isn’t the purpose to unite the two kingdoms is for the people to become friends? As friends, I don’t believe formalities are needed.” He made a really good point and you found no fault in that. You nod and smile again. “You’re right, Riddle.”
His eyes widened. Even though this was something he asked for, he did not quite think of the consequences it would have on him. “Oh..! Did I make you angry?” You panicked, seeing his face turn the colour of red (the same colour when he gets angry).
No, he isn’t angry. Quite the opposite, but he couldn’t say. The prince was never one to hide his wrath so it is no surprise to see his face also reflecting his flustered mind; a hand flies to his face as if it could hide the ever deepening red colour.
Seeing you panicking and regretting ever being born, he quickly calms his raising heart. “No..” He coughs into his fist. “Sorry, I was just.. Nevermind.” He dissuades from continuing the topic. His posture corrected itself once more, but his face was still hiding behind his hand and his eyes looked off to the side.
“Anyway, I’m sorry if I have made you wait long.. I’ve been meaning to end the talks with Malleus quickly.” He explains. “No, it’s alright. I hope the meeting went well,” you shook your head, holding your cup between your hands.
“Oh, right, what did you want to talk to me about?” You asked. He did say that he wanted to speak to you alone. He hums and looks at you dumbfounded briefly but caught up with you in the end. “Ah, I.. When I got back from the academy, I was told that the peace talks were over and then came the agreement, but it wasn’t until later in the castle that I was informed that a baron’s daughter was to be married to..” His eyes tried hard to continue staring at you, but failed; there felt a suffocating feeling in his chest which dried his throat. The thought that he couldn’t be there to stop you from going to the Valley of Thorns was unbearable for him. “That you were the one who..”
The air suddenly became too thick for him and although it did not feel like that for you, the pitiful look on his face made you feel regretful that you did not tell him. You were about to comfort him when a hand slams down on the table along the screeching sound of a chair being pulled back. “Tell me!” Riddle looks at you with eyes that could only say so much about how hurt he is. “You.. Why did you accept? Why didn’t you reject the Queen? Why did you get married to him!?” At every word he says out loud, the louder his voice becomes and all you could do was stare in trepidation.
However, you know you could not allow this to escalate. You look at the guard stationed nearby and see he was ready to subdue Riddle the moment he crosses that invisible line between you two.
“Riddle, please calm down..!” You raise your own voice (something that you believe you have never done before) and look crossed at him. He has to calm down otherwise, at this rate, you might never be allowed to talk to him like this again. Luckily, he was quick to see his wrongdoings and the colour on his face returned to normal. He sits down yet does not look at you; he looks at his hands that are laid on his lap. “I’m.. I’m sorry, [Name].”
You huff a breath. “It’s oka—“ “No, it’s not okay!” His head shots up to look at you and realize once again that he is acting out again. “Please.. Let me apologize sincerely before you say anything.
“I’m sorry for raising my voice at you. It wasn’t right and I take full responsibility for my actions,” he words out carefully.
The wind was slightly cooler than what it was this morning. You look up to stare at the clouds. Now that you think about it, the skies are a lot darker than it was before Riddle came. It looked like the sky itself was having internal conflict. It appears that it was battling itself to not have a downpour right at this moment. It’s funny, you think, the clouds at that moment seem alive and having split thoughts about what weather they’ll cast. It made you almost chuckle at a made-up thought that a sorcerer could be doing this because they were in a similar state as well.. Maybe it was Riddles’ doing, but he does not have the ability to freely change the weather and you knew that well.
Tearing your eyes away from the sky, you return to reality at hand and speak with a gentle voice like a mother speaking to her child, “Riddle, look at me.” You would not continue speaking until he looks at you. There was a brief look of hesitation that you could see under the darkness of his bangs. He gulps down a growing lump in his throat before looking at you properly. “There was no other choice; I had to get married—“ “No choice?” He sounded broken when he repeated your words. You bit the bottom of your lips. It’s a long story and you are honestly too tired to tell it.. That fae.. The Queen.. What happened in that throne room finalized your fate.
You nod your head and outstretch your hand to hold his. You had never held his hands before until today and to no one’s surprise, they were warm. “I had no choice but listen, if it’s to make two kingdoms stop fighting a pointless battle, then I’m happy being the beginning of that newly established peace.”
Riddle looks long at both of your hands. With a look of resolve, he squeezes your hands and meets your eyes with seriousness. “I’ll find a way..” He says and you thought he’d continue on from there but he didn’t. Instead, he lets go of your hands and starts looking for something inside his welted chest pockets. “I have a letter from my mother meant for you; it’s an invitation.”
Invitation? That’s surely a surprise, you think, taking the closed envelope into your hands and looking at the fancy markings alongside the single red seal of a rose. You open in and read its contents carefully. “Is there anything else mentioned in there..?” Riddle asks curiously. You shook your head. “She just wants to invite me back to join her for tea someday.”
He hums agreeingly with the letter. “I think you should accept. Think of it as a meeting between a queen and a future queen; I believe it’ll benefit you.”
Seeing it that way, you nod agreeingly and look at the letter, finding no faults inside it. “Then, I’ll ask His Highness..” You say almost subconsciously. Riddle raises his eyebrows. “His Highness? Is that how you address him?” He crosses his arms over his chest. You nod, “Mhm.. I mean, I don’t think it’d be appropriate to address him as anything but.”
Unbeknownst to you, a smile was threatening to let slip but he fought it back. “I see.. Then I’ll definitely come for you..” He mutters cryptically. Before you could ask since he had said something similar twice now, he stood up from his seat. “I’m sorry, but I should leave now. I promised my mother I will be back in the castle before the moon rises,” he said. You smiled understandingly and entered back inside the castle to see him off.
“Thank you for allowing me to speak with you, [Name].” He puts a hand over his heart, his back facing the door to the castle. You shook your head and said, “No, I should be thanking you.. It was so good to see you again. I really missed talking to you, Riddle.”
During you twos parting chatter while waiting for Malleus to see him off, the draconic-fae enters the room. His first sight was you hardly trying to cover a wide smile. He had thought you weren’t capable of a radiant smile like that and a look of perplexity crossed his face as he approached you two. There was no point in trying to be sneaky when his shoes sounded with every step he took.
“Rosehearts.” You two stopped talking and looked behind you. He was still upset from earlier but he does not show it on his stoic face. You scooted away from Riddle and took your place beside Malleus. “I hope your stay here was alright,” he continues speaking.
Riddle hums. “It was. [Name] here has been a wonderful host.” He looks at you and you couldn’t help but smile, albeit a small one from trying to hide it. Malleus gives a low, prolonged hum; eyes darting to and fro between you two. “I see.. Then, I'm at ease.”
The words exchanged between the two were very short and before you knew it, Riddle had gone home. It was thought that it would be that and Malleus was already on his heels to leave the hall. You look off to the direction Riddle took off on his horse just for a second and leave as well. You thought it best to bring up the invitation to Malleus later over dinner.
In the meantime, as you let out a soft sigh, you let your muscle relax. Most of the mornings and part of the afternoon were spent entertaining Malleus and Riddle for the rest; you are determined to have some time for yourself just until dinner.
Still.. It was the most wonderful visit that you’ve ever received. Seeing Riddle again made you feel as if you’ve gained the strength to continue on with this duty of being wedded to the Valley’s prince.

Those who are highlighted green, please check if I spelt your name right and/or your settings since I can't tag you.
How're you?
I'm good, thank you. :)) How are you?
Everyone should learn something from this and that is to not force your own beliefs onto others. I normally don't reblog posts but I have been in a similar predicament before that I find it irritating?? (Is that the word?)
Please, let us all be civil and mature.
I love you, Elli. <3
To the Anon that doesn’t believe Venti is straight, that’s perfectly fine that’s your personal head canon, however don’t fucking push that onto other people, you assuming his sexuality based on his looks and then making comments like that, disgusting, we all head canon characters in our own ways, but I personally don’t want to hear you admit to stereotyping the characters solely based on their looks, nobody asked for your opinion so please keep your dumbass out of the Authors business for the sake of not further embarrassing yourself in front of everyone
!!
Anon took the words right out of my mouth

Actually, I feel like Lilia is telling me something here..
Hii!! I remember you! ^♡^ It's really nice to know that you came from Wattpad-- well, you did ask for my Tumblr. And I still remember your request (I totally did not have a mild panic attack a few seconds ago, thinking that I deleted your request and can never tag the right person for it). Hehe, I'm quite excited to write yours but it'll take a while.. An awfully long while. ^^"
Hello! I came from your Wattpad and I really enjoy your writing ^^ I hope you're taking breaks and that you're having a lovely day <3 How's Tumblr so far? What gave you inspiration to make a Tumblr account? :o
:O From Wattpad!? Hello, hello! ^♡^ It's really nice to know a reader from Wattpad actually came here (I thought they would just wait for the updates there). I'm really quite at a lost of words at the words of praise about my writing (I'm seriously blushing right now >~<).
As for your questions, I am really enjoying Tumblr a lot, albeit it is not as simple as using Wattpad.
I actually made this Tumblr account years ago for a reason (or reasons) that I do not remember (it was probably when I was looking for NaLu stuff and for Undertaker oneshots). I've recently started to use it more because Wattpad doesn't really have a lot of Genshin oneshots.. But, I am also now using it to post my oneshots from Wattpad because of the current issue(?) with the app/site. I don't want my NSFW works to be gone for naught.
This post+ thing has me so confused at the moment. But this post is so true; I would support my favourite creators if I could, but I'm just a broke student who's barely surviving highschool and being rejected to every job.
Alright, so tumblr staff is acting like as if we tumblr users have enough money to pay other tumblr users.
tumblr forgets that their user base is basically just a bunch of alley rats huddled around a slice of cheese
Expiration date is April 6! ^♡^
Ooff sorry this is my first time requesting and i checked the rules (i don't know if i miss something), can you write a continuation of the Yan!Lilia Vanrouge x fae reader? I mean i'm pretty curious of what happened after that. If you're not comfortable with the request you don't have to (^つωฅ^)

Part 1: Sweet and Naive
Dark.. Cold.. Those two words repeated in echoes in your head for what you could bet was at least a hundred years.
You were as lifeless as a doll, not even a sound of rattle from your chains. Your body stilled from having given up trying to fight, which you bet was how he would like it. If someone were to see you, they would think you were a sculpture. But you were a beauty that even a sculpture can't hold a candle against.
Your eyes slowly blinked, revealing to no one of just how void it was of activity. Your eyes no longer shined like they once were and quite literally. You couldn't see a thing with having your eyesight been taken from you.
It was futile to hope to have your eyesight back. It was pointless to wish for anything in fact. He would never let you go and him taking your ability to walk or even use your hands was enough proof of that. He even went through such lengths to bind your ankles and wrists to the ground. Even if you could move, you wouldn't be able to go past the door before being yanked back by the chains imbued with his magic that would trigger if you try to escape.
Having known his strengths, you could only have an impossible, crazy dream of the young prince of the Valley of Thorns stumbling down towards this place for a visit and helping you out. You knew no one with strengths that could outdo him. Not even the brave soldier in that storybook you once loved to read as a child who slayed the scariest dragon could hope to beat him. He was second only to the monarchy's strength so in a way, he held supreme over even the strong, mighty creatures of faes.
"Little fairy, are you ready to talk to me now?" A sickening voice you were O' so familiar by now that you've grown to loath speaks just behind you, making the owner of the voice's presence known to you. You would have known that someone was there if you were still considered a fae. Without your distinguishable features of strong magic and being reduced to nothing but a doll, you were all the more average than a human who lacked awareness of magic aura around them.
You didn't answer. If you were to speak now, you would only give him hope of something– anything and you didn't want that. You don't want to see him become so giddy and happy that you were finally falling prey for his traps.
"[Name]." The room's temperature quickly drops by a few degrees thanks to him. His voice was quite stern when he calls your name. Him dropping your silly nickname meant he was about to lose it. Every visit he makes, it seemed that he was slowly losing his patience and sanity with you. "This has gone for far too long."
You can tell that he was seething with anger at your silence. Good, you thought. You hoped that maybe he'd just end your miserable life right then and there, unable to control himself any longer.
The steps of heavy shoes makes sounds as he draws closer to your form. Once you were at arm's reach, he harshly turns your face towards him. His face contorted– but you couldn't see that– and angrily said through gritted teeth, "Stop playing with me, little fairy. What is it that you want?"
What do you want? If he asked you that hundreds of years ago, you would have answered what was in your heart– to set you free. You wanted nothing more than to travel Twisted Wonderland. Now, you couldn't care less. If you answered the same thing as back then, you were sure that he'd ignore it. And even if he granted your wish now, there wasn't any guarantee that he'd let you out for long. He'll always know where you are and will bring you back to your cage when he thinks that you've had enough of exploration.
When you refused to talk to him he roughly let's go of you and stood up. He stare down at your form, seeming distant as he contemplates on something. Having released a deep sigh, he leaves you alone once more.
–
You thought it would be a long while until you would hear the door open and close again, but you were apparently wrong. You mentally sighed at the disturbance of your peace, and just when you were having a conversation with yourself in your head.
When the door shut with a loud thud, you were expecting him to speak. It's just been an hour, you think, since he left so you did wonder what he wanted now. Surely he knows by now that you weren't going to give him any ounce of your limitless time.
"Um, lady..?" Your stoned facial expressions changed when your eyebrows raised. Your ears picked up a voice that was not familiar at all to you. Who was here? You were sure that your capturer locked you somewhere that no one would be able to reach you or to know of your existence. So, who was this person that managed to pass by the great fae and make it to where you were, several feet high above in some tower?
Seeing your head lift up, you hear an audible gasp. "Oh! You're real!?" The soft voice of the person was something refreshing to you as you've never heard of any other voice other than your own and your capturer. But still, you noticed that the voice did not belong to an adult but rather, a male child. What was a child doing all the way here?
You hear light steps make their way around to properly face you. “What are you doing here, Miss?” You weren’t sure where he was in front of you nor how tall he was, so you looked up a bit and hoped that he was there and not an inch off. Your silence made the kid raise a brow. “Um, do you not talk, Miss? Or is it that you can’t talk?”
He squatted down to be on the same eye level as you and rested his face on his knees. You heard him ruffling around so you guided your head to where you assumed he was now at. “Hm, so you can’t talk? That’s a problem then.. Maybe I can get you paper and something to write with!” Their voice was so sweet like a melody and sounded as if it did not belong to a fae of the Valley of Thorns. It sounded so carefree. Befitting of a child of innocence.
Ah. Innocence. Something that you once were. You missed the days where you used to walk around the village and the surrounding forest, oblivious of the crueler side of the world. You were innocent– free of sins and a child of purity who was just a naive– “little fairy”. His voice whispered in your ears and you were disgusted by it.
“There’s no need..” You finally spoke. “You’ll just waste your time.” The softness of your voice caught you off guard, and also the child. You always sounded either harsh or devoid of life.
"Ah, that's good!" By the tone of his voice, you could tell he was smiling and it made you feel like smiling, but your facial features couldn't display it. You once remembered how smiling could affect others and make them smile but you couldn't. "So, why are you here, miss?" He asks again.
You wished you could tell him, but he was a child and something a child has that could easily be taken away was their purity and innocence and once that's taken, it'll never be returned. But one thing that comes with innocence is curiosity and curiousity is such a dangerous feat to have. You should know it as yours was too long, long ago due to being so curious.
And you worried for the child's safety should you tell. He doesn't want anyone to know.
Seeing your head drop to stare at your lap, the little boy could tell that something saddened you. In fact, when he first saw you, he noticed how your eyes didn't reflect the light from the sun that stared down at you. And though you did not know it, the sun was caressing your form that at first, the child thought you were an angel. However, something didn't sit right with him and concluded that you were a shell of what once was an angel.
"It's okay to not tell me, miss!" he says. "My father taught me not to push people to talk about things they don't wanna talk about!" You were relieved, not that you were going to cave in and tell him anyway.
"Hm? Oh, it's almost time for dinner.. Father is going to start looking for me if I don't show up.." he said after minutes of silence and him staring at you curiously. "But, um.. Will you be okay here?"
Now standing up, he looks down at you who stared at the ground with hands on your lap. "I'll be okay." With that, you hear the light steps of the child make its way to the door. He stopped and turned his head to look back at you with a hand resting on the door. He has questions he has yet to ask with a pitiful look but he knew that his father would worry if he disappears for too long.. Maybe tomorrow he'll sneak back here.
And that's what he did.
–
You never got to ask the boy how he got in but you were sure he'd never come back. With that in mind, you just assumed he was a child of another high-status fae who came for a visit. You don't know of your location, but you assumed somewhere beneath the ground. It was always cold in the room.. Or was it just you?
You were left to your thoughts once more before you felt yourself dozing off. The next thing you know, you hear the shy clicking of the door opening. Not thinking more about it, you continued to close your eyes. You didn't want to talk to him.
"Lady? Are you still asleep?" Hearing the soft, welcoming voice of the same boy from yesterday, your eyes snapped open and your head shot up. "Oh, good! You're awake." You hear him draw close to you before sitting himself down in front of you. "How was your sleep?"
Ah. Did you sleep? You were sure that he was gone for just a few moments. Look at you, not even being able to tell the difference between hours and seconds.
"It was.. Okay," you answered, staring straight ahead with a blank look on your face. "That's good to hear! Father always says that sleep helps you grow tall. But I always fall asleep at random times that I'm not sure if it's a good thing anymore."
You cracked a small smile without noticing it yourself. Not to worry though, your little companion did. "Oh! You smiled!" he pointed out happily. "You didn't smile at all yesterday– I thought you couldn't smile at all." His comment made you quickly drop your smile. You weren’t offended by the comment, but you rather not wish to be able to smile anymore.
"Aw.." You can tell that he was now pouting but you didn't care. "You should smile more, miss! It looks better on you." The comment made you feel bashful, though you remained stone-faced. It has been a long time since someone has made an earnest compliment. You’ve only had few the moment you stepped outside of the protection of your little village– Ah, but now that you think about it, you did catch glances of him looking at the person who had given you words of praise darkly.
Just how long ago did his possessiveness sprout? You were too naive at that time and you curse yourself for it. If you knew about his dark obsession with you, you would have fled, using the darkness of the night as your cloak.
“Hellooo? Miss, are you listening?” The loud voice of the child brought you back and you looked up from your lap to where his voice was. “Oh! I’ve been calling you and even waving my hand in front of your face, but you didn’t react at all.”
“I’m sorry. I was just recalling some things,” you said. And it’s not like you would have been brought back by the action of his hands. “What was it that you were talking about?”
“Mm.. I was wondering what you do here. You look kind of lonely, miss,” he said. “And what’s with these things?” You didn’t see what he was pointing at, but you were sure that it was the chains that bound you to the room.
“These..” Should you tell him? Should you not? How else are you going to explain this? Seeing your reluctance to speak, he tells you yet again to not worry about it and to just ignore his questions. “Sorry for asking a lot of questions.. Father doesn’t tell me much of anything except things related to the Valley of Thorns so I got curious when I saw you.”
“You look like a fae but to me, you look like an angel,” he said, laughing cheekily at his own words. “You don’t look like the faes from the Valley though so is there another kind of faes out there?” This child asks too many questions, one after another, you concluded. He reminds you of the you from back then– ever the curious one. You bit the insides of your cheek, feeling a bit sour of the current situation. It feels as if you’re now taking in the perspective of your capturer and looking at yourself through another’s eyes. But you knew better and won’t allow yourself to spiral into madness because of him.
“Yes. There are other faes out there,” you answered. “I am not a fae of the Valley.” At your confession, the boy lit up. “Really? Since you were from the outside, can you tell me what it was like?” You felt him draw closer to you with enthusiasm. “Father said that I’ll be able to go out one day, but I still have to become strong before that happens.”
“I.. Didn’t do much adventuring,” you confessed, a hint of sadness hung on each word. There was silence after that with a heavy atmosphere bringing burden to both of you. The child opened his mouth to speak but before he could utter a single word, his ears perked up to sounds outside the door. “Shoot! It’s time for my sword training! Father is going to find out I was here.. ” You hear him scramble up to his feet. “Oh! But before I go, I brought you some snacks!” You hear the sliding of a plate that stopped in front of you. “I don’t know if you ate so I got you something! It’s not healthy but it’s all I can carry without being spotted..”
After saying a quick goodbye, you hear him run out the door. You had no need for food and opted that starving your way to freedom was the only option at leaving this hell of a place.. Not that you could even do that since he would find a way. But you appreciated the gesture of kindness. It..
Truly, it has been a long time since you’ve felt kindness from another. You wished you were able to see the young child with your own eyes, but that only meant submitting yourself.
The next time the boy showed up was 2 days after the last parting, though you did not know it since time for you was lost. Since then, he would find a way to sneak to your chambers day after day.
Until one day, you were beginning to question this kid, feeling a bit guarded despite his open nature. You liked how the boy was like a breath of fresh air, but something did not sit right with him finding his way back to you day after day. “How did you manage to get back here?” you asked with a stern tone of voice one day. You felt much more comfortable to ask him a question of your own. At first, you had your reservations about him, thinking that he must have been sent by him to manipulate you so you said little or nothing at all.
"Ah.. Don't tell father this.. He told me not to go here but I got curious," he answered honestly. Right. He’s always talking about his father but who is his father and why is he here? Where exactly were you locked up that this child could easily sneak in? “He kept saying that this part of the manor wasn’t where I should be playing, but I always see him go here with things sometimes.”
Your head shot up to stare straight at the area in front of you, where you assumed the boy to be. His father.. He goes here often? Then that could only mean– “You know.. I started wondering..” The boy started to speak, his cheerful tone gone, and pauses.
“You can’t see, can you, lady?” Your head snaps towards your left, his voice now in that direction and closer to you. Since when– “Your eyes.. They don’t reflect anything at all.. And they always seem to miss me.” He crouches down by your side. “I don’t know a lot and only what father tells me, but I can tell that you’re sad, lady.”
“I, if that’s the case.. Then maybe my father can help–”
Your heart quickens. “W, who..” You gulp back a lumped in your throat. “Who is your father?” you ask, cutting him off and then silently pray that that one cursed name doesn’t befall upon your ears.
What came afterwards made your eyes widened and your face grew pale. You felt lightheaded as the truth came crashing down on you. “Lilia! Lilia Vanrouge.”
“Silver.”
Your heart stops and drops to the pit of your stomach at that all too familiar, sickening voice. “Father!” The boy with a name that you now know as Silver got up to his feet. Crimson eyes looked at his son for a good few seconds and at you who refused to look at him and have your back do the job.
Lilia’s eyes narrow at the sight and returns to look at his son. A new found anger towards his son that he didn’t think he was capable of. “Silver, I thought I told you many times not to step foot in this area of the house.” He didn’t raise his voice but was quite stern. “I’m sorry, Father.. I was just–”
“Curious?” Lilia finishes and crosses his arms. Silver’s head droops down and fiddles with his fingers. “I’m sorry..” The room was still. You couldn’t see what was happening and it only made you worry for the boy. That was until you heard Lilia let out a heavy sigh.
He uncrosses his arms and softens his expression. “Though I won’t let this matter slide, I won’t make you do harder training to make up for it,” he said which made his son raise his head in hope. “Now, go back to the main part of the house.”
“You’re not coming back with me?” he asks. “No. I will join you shortly after.” His eyes wander from Silver to you. Silver notices it and glances back to where you sat. “Oh! Right, Father..” He looks at Lilia with a determined look in his eyes. “This pretty lady wants to be set free but she can’t because of the chains!” he started. “Can you please help her? She looks a bit sad.”
Lilia blinks owlishly at his son’s request but said, “I will have a talk with her first.” You didn’t want to talk to him and cursed him in your head. “Now, go back to the main area.” At his words, Silver leaves the room after one more look at you.
Both of you said nothing as you listened to the boy’s footsteps slowly fade down the hall and waited in silence a bit more.
“Now, little fairy..” You shuddered, disgusted by his voice and him in general. “Care to tell me exactly how long you’ve been talking with sweet, little Silver?” He leans back against the wall and crosses his arms, a small smirk tugging at his lips. You ignored him like you usually do.
“Still not talking, are we?” You hear him sigh. “Well, no matter.. I can deduce it to be at least a week since Silver has been sneaking around the place.” A week? To you, those peaceful days felt too short but in truth, a week has gone by?
“Hmm~ It’s just been a week but seeing as how Silver wants to set you free, I can surmise that he must be really fond of you,” he said. “Kufufu, just as I thought he would be.”
You clenched your jaw. “Since you now have a wife and family, are you finally going to set me free?” you ask coldly but deep down, there was a sudden spark of hope. Now that he has a sweet child, why would he need you there? “Hm~? A wife? I have no need for one when I have you, kufufu.” He answers. “You know, Silver isn’t really my biological son.”
He isn’t? As if reading your mind, Lilia chuckles. “Did you really think that I would have any other lover, little fairy?” he asks, amused. “Fret not. I am a devoted lover to his one and only wife.” “Shut it. I’m not your wife,” you barked back through gritted teeth, feeling the small hope in you fade away as soon as it came. “Oh? I suppose you are right about that.. Well, that is not something that would become an obstacle. I just need to marry you, yes?”
You bit your tongue, not wanting to talk to him anymore. Lilia sighs once more and zips his mouth– only temporarily though. Sometimes you were like a spoiled brat, Lilia concludes, staring at your back, covered by a single, thin white dress. You look exactly like how he had remembered you in his memory. An angel, he thought. Beings of purity just like how you are and will be like for as long as he lives. He will never let you step outside to the tainted world of Twisted Wonderland.
“Silver..” He begins, changing topics. “He’s a curious, adventurous one.. Doesn’t that remind you of yourself back then, little fairy?” Lilia smiles fondly, recalling memories of long-past history while you bit the inside of your cheeks harder. You hate how he always brings up history, especially about your relationship. He talks as if you two were ever lovers and that you were at fault for the sudden tragedy of an ending of the relationship. “You were much so shy and easy to fluster. Kufufu. Ah, the cute expressions you’d make.”
“Shut it,” you snapped. You hated the ‘you’ from back then and cursed her. You two weren’t the same yet he keeps deluding himself that you two were. “Getting angry now, are we? It’s certainly been a while since I’ve last witnessed such a sight for myself.”
“Anyway, back to the topic.. Silver wishes to release you from your chains,” he said. “I can’t say no to my little boy.. After all, he’s been talking about wanting a mother. He did mention a certain ‘angel’ whom he wishes to be his mother.. I suppose that would be you, yes?”
You said nothing. As much as you have come to adore that boy, no way would you sign yourself up to yet another enslavement.
You hear his shoes clicking against the floor until he stops right in front of you. “Now, I suppose that since Silver has already seen you, it would be rude to not give you two a proper introduction,” you hear him say and before you knew it, you were forced to close your eyes shut to see darkness once more due to the sudden light blinding you, even using your hands to shield your eyes.. Wait–
Squinting your eyes open, you could see the sun’s light passing through the window. You sat there, amazed as you stared at the long-missed sunlight in front of you. You looked down at your hands. They were trembling and felt weird to you but nevertheless, you could move them. “Kufufu. O’ don’t you look so cute, little fairy.” You turn your head to the side and see the face that was etched into your memories for all of eternity.
His long, black hair with pink streaks that made him stand out was the same length as you remembered. “Oh? Miss seeing my face, did you?” You became hostile once again at his comment but he only laughed. “Now, up you go.” He unlocks your chains with magic and pulls you up using his indispensable strength.
Caught off guard, your legs wobbled. “Hm? Oh, I’ve forgotten that your body forgot how to work itself..” he comments, blinking once before a smirk adorns his lips as a shadow cast over his face. “No matter.” He puts one arm behind your legs and the other resting on your back and lifts you up with ease.
“Kufufu, aren’t you adorable,” he comments, which made you knit your brows in anger. You attempted to hit him with your strength, but your arms were too flimsy after just gaining the ability to move. He chuckles at your weak punch at his chest. “Put me down. I rather go back to being blind than to see your despicable face.”
“Ah, I’m afraid I can’t, sweetheart.” He chuckles, clearly amused. Crimson orbs reflected you and he couldn’t help but grin cheekily. Ah, you were always a sight to see. It always hurt him how you wouldn’t talk to him and opted to have your back facing him at all times. You, however, weren’t the slightest bit happy and didn’t consider this act as something teasing that you see your fellow faes back home do when they were a bit younger when they were infatuated with another.
Little Silver, just as told, got comfortable in the living room and waited patiently as Lilia emerged from the dark hallways that lead to your prison with you in hand. You realized that your prison wasn’t actually a cell situated hundreds of feet down the basement and was, in fact, just a room in an old part of the manor that wasn’t used. It wasn’t all that complicated to get there at all and easily accessible should Lilia not have warned Silver to wander in that restricted area.
“Silver.” At the call of his name, Silver’s ears picked up and he turned his head. When his eyes reached yours, it immediately brightened with a cute, big smile on his face. Lilia sees this and smiles as he sat you down on a cushioned chair to the left of the sofa.
“I was hoping that I could give the surprise, but it seems as if you’ve already met her already.” “Silver, come and greet your mother.” You cringed at the title and the way he spoke but before you could do so much as to protest, Silver hopped off of the sofa and ran towards you.
“Wait, Miss, are you really my mom?” He rests his hands on your white dress that Lilia had you wore, still very much clean due to him changing you regularly.
You didn’t say anything. You don’t want to play pretend with your capturer but you didn’t want to hurt the boy. Lilia knows what you were up to but said nothing. He knows his son very much to fall for it anyway. Children.. Such a wonderful creation in this twisted world, he thought to himself.
When you looked at Silver the first thing you noticed was his unnatural hair colour and his bright, pale-coloured eyes. Right beside that, your eyes widened at the sight of his ears.. He wasn’t– “Fufu, I forgot to mention, sweet little Silver here is, in fact, not a fae at all,” Lilia leans in close to your ears to whisper. “Isn’t he just adorable?” He gave a breathy chuckle before pulling back.
“Alright, Silver, your mother is quite exhausted so for now, why don’t you go outside to practice your sword training? Malleus will be here to visit soon so why don’t you show him what you have?” Lilia shoos him away with an excuse just to talk to you one-on-one. He’s sure you have things to say.
He agrees and left the room just as told and when he was gone, you threw a spiteful look at him. “Don’t tell me you kidnapped him?” You ask with venom in each word. Lilia’s face shows shock but quickly returns to his playful look. “Fufufu, do I look like the type to you, my dear?” He said as he sat down on the sofa. ‘In fact, you are one’ you cursed him.
You said nothing more to the man, though it was a challenging thing to completely avoid him later on due to him living under the same roof as you. But that was all to change, you thought. Now that you were unchained to a room by magical chains, you had an opportunity.. You just had to wait. Sure, with Lilia’s strength and power, he can cast a spell on the entire manor itself and bind you to it, but even you knew that even the most powerful of the Great Sevens couldn’t keep up with their own spell for long. Soon enough, they will grow weary.
If he were to do that, you just had to wait until he grew too weak. You didn’t think he would put you back in that room and it was thanks to Silver. You had to let Lilia’s guard down for an opportunity to come. You see, he’s always had his eyes on you whenever you strayed away from either him or Silver. Though you don’t see him when you went on your ‘little walk’ around the place to familiarize the layout, you always felt eyes on you.. Though your escape plan wasn't through some secret passage you'll find. There's no way you can outsmart him this way; you'd just be doing what he thinks you'd do.
"Miss– Um, I mean, mother, can we play together today?" Silver asks with an expectant look in his eyes. "I.." You weren't yet used to hearing your voice, let alone comfortable to use them but what were you supposed to do?
"I'm sorry, I can't right now.." Yes, now isn't the time. After waiting and planning, Lilia has announced that he'd be going to the castle to run some errands for the future king of the Valley of Thorns.
You immediately stood up from your seat and walked past the young boy. You were sure Lilia had put some sort of lock on the escape routes you inspected months prior just as you had predicted when he said that Silver couldn't play outside today. All those exits were locked so neither you nor Silver could escape.. All except the most noticeable exit; the main door.
“Mother?” You hear Silver’s confused voice. You really did enjoy spending time with him but he was not your son and this was not your home.
Making a B-line for the door, your heart thumped loudly that you believed that if people were around you, they would most definitely hear. The exit was right there. You were so close. You could almost taste the missing freedom you hopelessly wished for for the past hundred or so years.
“Where are you going?” The tug of your dress made you halt just a few metres away from the door. You looked down to see Silver, holding you tight with his small hands. “Mother, father said that you’re still sick and that it’s too dangerous for you to go outside.”
“We can play together in the living room while we wait for father!” He smiles, though his eyes that reflected hurt betrayed him. Father this. Father that. Why does he always call him that? He is a good-for-nothing man who played himself in a delusion of pretend-family. And you? When did you sign up to play the role of mother in this entire clownery of an act?
“Let go,” you ordered, voice lowering down a few octaves. “But father said that I shouldn’t–” “I said, let me go!” You roughly tug back on your clothes and in the process, push Silver down. At that moment, you were filled with regret and thought to help him up and apologize but– “Mother, d-did I do something wrong?” Tears started to form in his eyes.
Your jaws clenched. No. No, you didn’t, you wanted to say. You looked at the door behind– the door that would lead to freedom– and to Silver before choosing not to stay any longer. If he could survive in this twisted place, you were sure he himself was no good either.
“Mother! Mother!”
When you opened the door, your heart immediately sank down to your stomach. “Father?” Silver says, standing up and wiping his face. “I thought you were going to the castle.”
Lilia takes one look at Silver, his eyes narrowed at the poor sight before narrowingly further at you with the most disappointed and angry look you’ve ever seen him. At the sound of a snap that echoed around the area, you suddenly felt gravity pushing you down to your knees. You groaned in pain as you felt it crushing you and Silver was quick to run to your side. “Mother? W, what’s wrong? Father, what’s happening?” He looks at Lilia, pleading eyes begging for an answer. Lilia stayed silent, a deep frown adorning his pale face. You struggled to look up but when you did, under the moon that greeted a fae of the Valley’s day and bid them a goodnight, crimson eyes glowed far brighter than you. A contrast to the ever-dark kingdom.
“Father, please!” Lilia ceased his actions and the bright glow of red slowly faded away. You gasped for air. You for sure thought you would die right then and there when you felt a bone in your ribcage break.
“Silver, take this gem and go to Prince Malleus.” He hands Silver a green gem whose glow keeps fading in and out in the same rhythm of a heartbeat. “A teleportation gem?” “Yes. Go play with Prince Malleus and Sebek at the castle. Your mother is very ill right now and I don’t want you sick.”
Silver looks at you before nodding in agreement. “I’ll see you soon, mother.” And at the sight of faint green smoke, Silver vanishes on the spot. “What a wasted stone, really,” Lilia comments cooly and sighs but when he looks down at you, you knew you were going to have it worse now that Silver isn’t around to be a witness to his so-called father’s crimes. “Now..”
He grabs a fistful of your hair and yanks you back inside. You shout in pain and tried to have you be released but his strength was no match for a weak fae who’s been protected all her life in a secluded village.
When he got to your shared room– well, supposed shared room– he releases you once locking the door. “I really don’t know what to do with you, [Name].” “Is that so? Good. Then you should hurry up and release m–” A harsh pain on your right cheek suddenly dulled your mind.
You touched your cheek and looked at Lilia. He had kicked you. His eyes were unreadable when he crouched down to your eye level and harshly grabbed your face. “I really do love you, [Name], but sometimes you are too much of a brat,” he said. “I didn’t want to hurt you but bratty girls like you need to be taught a lesson. Do you understand?”
“You really hurt Silver there.. You don’t think that I’m stupid enough to leave you unsupervised, do you?” With his free hand he beckoned over a small, dark orb with an eye from behind. “I thought I could trust you.. But apparently not.”
“Heh. If you trusted me, you wouldn’t leave that thing hiding close to me,” you said but cursed yourself about not knowing he had a spy on you at all times.
“How funny you are, my dear. I knew quite well of what you were planning to do.” He presses his forehead against yours. “I know you, after all.”
You wanted to bite back and attack him but with nothing– not even your natural magic– you were as hopeless as a human. “So you wanted to escape, huh? Might I need to remind you of how dangerous it is out there?” You called bull on his words. The only monster around here was him.
“My dear, even if you were to escape, where are you going to go? At least a hundred years have already gone by for us.. Do you really think that your home is still intact today?” Your brows furrowed. What was his game here?
With a wickedly wide smile, he tells you, “Your village? All your family, friends.. Anyone from that village? You’ve already seen their end many, many years ago. He had a look of craze in his eyes. You felt another part of you die. What? When? “Do you remember our little game of tag, my dear? The one with a burnt down village as our playground?” That’s when it clicked. “Fufu.. So, even if you were to escape, where would you go? A magicless fae can’t face those monsters out there all alone.”
Your eyes started to tear up and Lilia did nothing to wipe them away. “You’re a liar!” you shouted. “Me? A liar? Fufu, now don’t joke around like that. You know I’m not one to lie– even as a joke. You should know that as we’ve spent so many years together.”
“And remember this.. No matter where you go, I will always find you.”

You, on all counts, are very sensitive to the words spoken by others of you. You can't help it but worry about your impression of others, but this did not mean that you faked your identity in front of others. You had wonderful friends as well whom you are sure are the truest of all.
"Hey, (Y/N), wanna go on a mission with me?" Mondstadt's most famous Outrider, Amber, jogged up to you with excitement reflecting off of their eyes. "Ah, well, I don't have anything to do.. Alright, I'll join you," you said which made the female really happy. "Good. I was about to persuade you to some food if you didn't," she laughs. "Let's make this quick since an Outrider still has other things to do."
"But you'll still give me remuneration, right?" you ask, half-joking. "Haha, of course! I'll treat you when I have time, and that's a promise!" You and the Outrider had a little laugh and left the city to clear a couple of hilichurl camps around the premises. She thanked you afterwards and repeated her promise before waving you off as she goes and attends to her other tasks. Now that you were free, you decided to go and meet a special someone and ask if they'd like to join you for a meal since you don't like eating alone-- and you know for sure where they were loitering around at the moment: the tavern.
"Please, Master Diluc? Just one~ I'll play a song for your tavern." You opened the door to Angel's Share to see the person you had been looking for trying to negotiate with the tavern's owner. The male behind the counter notices your entrance and brings his attention to you, ignoring the bard. "(Y/N), what can I do for you?" he asks, completely dismissing the shorter male beside him. "Ah, nothing. I'm loitering around, really," you say, sitting down beside the never-stopping-pleading male.
"Well, since you're here, could I ask you a favour and help me get this guy here to leave?" Diluc asks, referring to no one else but the one who is sitting beside you. "He's being quite the nuisance."
"Eh? I promise I'll leave if you just accept the exchange!" Venti cries. "I am the most famous bard of Mondstadt, I will surely attract more customers for you!" Diluc shooks his head and sighs, turning to look at you once more. "Please, help me out?"
You cracked a smile. "Of course, Master Diluc! Now, let's go Venti." You got out of your seat and pull him along from the collar on his back, all the while hearing Venti's cries for his wine. "Aw, (Y/N), you could have helped me out back there," Venti pouts when the two of you were a good foot away from the sight of the tavern. "You should have your own money. Honestly, how are you surviving without mora exactly?" you questioned, earning yourself a mischievous giggle from him.
Sighing, you dismiss the topic altogether. "Alright, why don't I treat you to something else other than wine? It's always wine this, wine that anyway," you say. "Mm, as long as it's with you!" He smiles and the two of you went to Good Hunter for a small meal. Since you did just come back from a mission, you order quite a lot, but not too much to make you look like a glutton. "It's a shame they don't sell wine here." The bard pouts. You laugh at your friend and shaking your head-- it was always wine with him.
"Maybe you should do something else other than singing and make money out of it?" you suggested, earning yourself an 'are-you-kidding-me' kind of look from the male. "Anyway~" he changes subjects. "What is the deal with you stuffing your face up so much?" He laughs at your adorable face that was buried with food and rests his cheeks on one of his fists.
"But you'll still like me when I'm fat, right?" you ask, stuffing yet another delicacies into your mouth. The bard giggles at the cute question and decided to play a little joke on you to see a reaction. "Hm, I don't know.." he starts, grabbing your full attention. "I mean, I guess I might still love you since you already kind of are.. " Unbeknownst to him, you were actually hurt by the 'joking' words and made you self-aware, but you weren't going to show it to him. Although you know it was a joke, you don't know if he'd actually still love you when you're 'ugly'. Right now, it might just be empty words, but who knows if his views will remain the same when that time actually comes?
You have noted that every time you go shopping for clothes, the size seems to be getting bigger, but you didn't really think much about it then. You sat in silence, pushing away the food as Venti goes on chatting about. He didn't even notice how you haven't touched your food since the comment when the two of you left Good Hunter or your quietness throughout the day. It was saddening, but didn't say a word about it.
"Um, I think I should be going home now, Venti," you say weakly, eyes not once looking up from the ground you were so familiar with. "Hm? Oh, okay, good night then!" Venti says and kisses your cheek before you walked the opposite direction of your house.
You walked all the way to your room, not turning on a single light and lied down on the bed, not changing your clothes as you crept underneath your blanket and curled into a ball, allowing depressing thoughts into your head. Maybe you should change your style? If you were wearing larger clothes that hides your body, that might make him think you are gaining weight, or so you think to yourself. Then, you'll just have to change and make him see the best sides of you.
And so, the next day when you went out, you wore clothing you never thought you would- let alone other's. You wanted to prove that you haven't gained weight by exposing much more skin, but still keep yourself comfortable. People gawked when you pass them out on the streets, a bit disturbed by your sudden change of clothing. It wasn't wrong to do so and they understand that people will change their style, but to the extent that you were on?
"My, look who we have here," a cool and smooth voice of a man comes and greets you. You look to your right and see none other than the Cavalry Captain of Mondstadt with his usual smirk on his face. He stares down at your smaller stature and snickers. "A sudden change of style, I see."
"Does it look bad?" you question. "Well, I wouldn't say it looks bad. Let's just say it's quite new to me," he says and shrugs. "Say, what is the reason for the sudden change anyway? Suddenly got bored of the former?"
You honestly knew that someone will ask you about it, but didn't want them to know. It was quite embarrassing. "Yeah, I guess," you said, not meeting the captain's eye. You had a habit of not looking directly at the person when you are either trying to hide something or lying and people had caught on to that, which was a huge giveaway that something is up for the all-knowing Kaeya. "Oh? This is interesting," Kaeya says to himself. Hearing him, you look up to meet the gaze of the male who only chuckles and ruffles your hair a bit. "I have to go do some cavalry work. I will see you later, (Y/N)," he says, his back now facing you, a hand raised. He took no more than two steps before looking over his shoulder and smiles at you. "Oh, remember one thing: don't let others' words get you down." You weren't sure what he was getting at, but you couldn't ask him as he was now further from you.
"(Y/N)?" Another voice calls your name and you turned around to see none other than the famous bard of Mondstadt- Venti. "Oh, wow! It really is you. I almost didn't recognize you from your back because how different you look," he says, scratching his head and chuckling awkwardly. "It seems like something is off about you..?"
This was the moment of truth. Will he see it or not? "Does it look bad?" you ask, looking at his eyes for some sort of answer. He inspects you, which made you kind of embarrassed. You want him to never leave you alone, so that is the reason for the clothes. If you could prove that you are worth staying by his side, you are more than willing to change. "Ah! So, you've change your clothes.." he finally says, though it didn't seem like he was happy about it.
"Hehe, I think you should go back wearing your old clothes, (Y/N)," he says, "because now everyone can see how chubby you've become." He laughs, pulling the skin of your cheeks in a playful manner. You, however, didn't feel like going back now. You want Venti to stay by your side forever and make it so that he won't be ashamed of his lover to the point he rather not be caught dead with you. You had to change. You have to lose weight.
And so, that day was the last day anyone has seen you around. At first, no one was concerned and thought you had other things to do that was taking up your time, but when two weeks went and no one has seen you around, they start to worry. The guards at the gate had said that they haven't seen you left- just in case you went on a mission without their knowledge. Your Knights of Favonius friends were the first to worry. Venti, however, kept on saying how you were probably fine while drinking away at Angel's Share.
"I think you should go check on her," Diluc says behind the counter, cleaning a glass while his back is turned towards the bard. "Eh? Why?" the shorter male questions. "Aren't you her lover? If so, you should check on her since she is obviously locking herself in her house." Venti was about to say something back, but decide to choke it down with a drink. Deep down, he was worrying as to why you aren't stepping outside. He had gotten lonely.
He got off the stool and left the tavern. Diluc turns around and heaved a sigh of irritation, forgetting to remind the bard, again, to pay for his drink.
Venti was at the foot of your door. He sees that your light were off, even through the curtains, before knocking lightly on the wooden door. "(Y/N)?" he calls out, but was answered to silence. He did not wait to knock a second time and got out a spare key that was entrusted to him by you. When he opened the door, he was greeted with the coolness of the air and silence. The furniture was clean and in place, yet it lacked the warmth from its owner. He walked to your room, but was greeted by an unused bed. However, it was a mess-- meaning to say that you are indeed home.
Eventually- to his horror and ache- he found you sitting down beside the toilet, back against the wall and eyes closed. "(Y/N)!" he shouts your name and quickly walked to your side, kneeling to see your pale face. He put his ear close to your face and was relieved that you were breathing, worried you might not have been when seeing as your bones were seeming as though it were about to pop out.
He carries you to your room and lie your body on the bed and stayed by your side until you woke up to get answers from you. How come you were in this state, he questioned himself. He was worried but thought nothing of that feeling in the pit of his stomach telling him to go check on you. He thought you were fine, but to his guilt, you weren't.
When your eyelids fluttered open, his heart never felt any lighter as it was now. "(Y/N)!" The tears that had slowly crept, was finally trailing down his cheeks. "Venti..?" The call of his name made it so irresistible to hug you, so he did. "What happened to you?" he asks, his voice cracking.
Staring at his face, you felt ashamed. You had locked yourself inside without light, food, or water and constantly vomiting everything out. Knowing this, you push him away and stare down at the mattress.
Venti was hurt upon seeing as you pushed him away, but that doesn't mean he would stop there. "Hey, let's get you something to eat. You look like you're malnourished," he says. You didn't say anything so he took it to go and make food for you in the kitchen before returning to your side once more. "Here, I've made you soup, so open up," he says, moving the spoon close to your lips, urging you on to open up. Soup may not be enough to return you from your pale and frail state, but it was easy for you to gulp it down. He has also chopped some meat into little pieces to help nourish you.
You refused, not looking at him. He sighs and looks at you sadly. "Please, (Y/N)?" The way his voice was tainted with sadness made your heart ache. You ate it obediently, but immediately coughed it out, the food now on the floor opposite of where he was at, sitting down on the bed with you. "(Y/N)!" He puts down the spoon in the bowl and put his free hand on your back. Your body was too weak that your system can't even take in food, which worried the male. "Can you please tell me why you're like this?" he pleads, another wave of tears forming his eyes.
You were hesitant, but you would feel that ache if you see him tear up again. "I.. I want you to stay with me forever," you finally confessed. He was confused- you could see it in his eyes. "Why would I ever leave you?" he asks.
"Of what you said.. Two weeks ago.. I don't want you to be ashamed of me and leave me," you continued, answering his question. He recalls the joke from then and felt guilty and ashamed. "I, I'm sorry for what I said.. I was joking about it, but I guess it hurt you," he says. "What I said then, please don't take it to heart."
"What I said were empty words. Even if you were to become chubbier, I would never leave you for the world nor would I be ashamed of you. I love you for who you are and not what you look like." The words comforted you and you finally look at Venti. His eyes were stained of tears, but he pulled of the smile that was reserved for you only. "Let's finish this, alright?" He hints at the soup. You nodded quietly and tried your best to finish the food.
"Once you're feeling better, let's go eat every food you want to eat, okay?" he says, watching you ear the food obediently. You smiled and nodded at the suggestion. Throughout that day- after finishing the food- he stayed and cuddled with you whilst reassuring how much he loves you.
