i know i've said this before but i'm going to say it again because the more i work with geriatric women the stronger i feel about the fact that the only anti-aging that women in their 20s/30s should be obsessed with is building strong bones and muscle mass. that's like the most important thing you can you can do right now to lay a good foundation for healthy aging. you can botox the shit out of your face but that's not going to do anything to save you from dying prematurely from a fatal hip fracture that you can't bounce back from because you didn't do anything to prevent yourself from becoming frail and breakable. like i know that sounds harsh but that is reality for a lot of older women and i don't want that to be you.

senator armstrong and his special attack "foreign infrastructure damage" are insufferable. the best fight of his life? the feeling is unreciprocated.

i had no heals at the start of the samuel fight and thought to get some from crates but then thought "he doesn't heal mid fight, why should i?" it took effort and some time to defeat him but i did it and it was enjoyable even when i needed to learn to parry for good right during the battle (in fact that made it more fun). i didn't search for heal packs before the next boss fight bc i thought the way my fight with samuel went is the good way to play. it is but armstrong's fighting style doesn't follow that way, lol. yeah sure dude heal gajillion times and cover all the ground in fire cracks and then stand behind it or push me into one and i will get up right in the middle of another crack and repeat the process until im dead with no chance to dodge once the first damage was taken (really happened). throw stuff at me why wouldn't you. i hope he stabs his toe or smth. i used to see him on videos and look forward to fighting him if i ever play mgrr; now no amount of lore is capable of making me to stop disliking him. i have genuinely gamer raged while fighting him lol. i would give up and leave the game if i wouldn't want to play dlcs tbh lol.

that being said, the game is nice and fun and all the butthurt is my fault for having a skill issue. but i am upset anyway lol.

also i liked it a lot that when ellen does a scary face, it is not achieved with cgi or makeup but mostly by the face expression. they didn't rely on something unrealistic and did what a human is capable of in reality instead which is always cool imo.

my impressions about the new nosferatu movie (spoilers ahead)

first of all, i see it as a movie about a woman who didn't get enough love and appreciation from society and whose wishes weren't prioritised by her husband (and society in general) as much as she liked, so she got herself a powerful demonic lover whose sole purpose for being in this world is to please her and he is ready to sail the sea in a coffin and kill entire city with plague to get her to willingly (as much as possible under aforementioned things) consent to be with him, and dies a hero saving everyone when no one else could, rather than lives a life of a person disregarded and deemed hysterical and of secondary importance. she is the most informed and in control in this situation (the doctor finds out a lot too but she already knows everything he knows), as opposed to before the plague, when her worries were disregarded and she was considered hysterical. her wishes and her role in defeating the nosferatu seem to be different from a typical male oriented fantasy, so i wasn't the assumed target audience and the most relatable character was friedrich harding who was unable to adapt to the irrational and occult stuff, got exhausted and died lol, but i still enjoyed the movie. i am not a woman and only know about feminine traditions in horror genre from youtube videos on "wicker mag" channel and podcasts by the same person, so sorry if i am misinterpreting it.

second thing is the vampire metaphor. rather than being an image of a feudalism related class fears, in this movie (in the first half of ot) nosferatu rather seems to embody immigrants related fear. i am not xenophobic and haven't moved out of my country of origin myself but i assume that this correlates with some real and popular fears: a guy goes to a foreign country that is considered less civilised and is frightened by local customs, he then meets a person who he must invite to become his neighbour, and is even more terrified by him. despite the count being not fond of local scary customs too, it's not hard to imagine the guy might think now that there's a reason behind them. after arriving to the other country where everything seems to be going well, the immigrant then immediately contaminates it with plague and tries his best to have sex with the guy's wife. looks like exaggerated real fears about immigrants that i don't personally have or approve of but that might be popular enough to be reflected in a movie.

third, the cat was in the room during the final epic hot kamikaze sex, very funny, i laughed aloud in the cinema.

fourth, ellen hutter reminded me about real person behaviour. when a person was unable to get the love they need and safe reliable relationship, and it has effect on them (in the movie it was her summoning the demon) which helps to cope at first but becomes not fun later, and when they finally meet a person who loves them and wants to be with them, they get very close (like the movie character wanted her husband to disregard work and chill with her) and the next moment they push them away (like she said she's unworthy of his love bc she sinned or smth). it's a cruel irony, people being unable to maintain a relationship with no complications precisely as a consequence of needing it very much and that need being unfulfilled for a long time. this was probably the scariest part of the movie for me personally bc although young husband tried better than me he failed anyway, either being unable to protect his wife or being a less preferable partner for her than the vampire depending on how you interpret her decision.

fifth, epic of nosferatu to disregard the impending sunrise to get his partner off for the 9999th time. and funny that there is a scene of him literally bouncing on a man's pelvis (clothed) and moaning. it is also amusing that in this movie nosferatu seems to be an incubus (yet the ladies sitting next to me seemed to find him unattractive lol - although i'm sure there are people who disagree)

also could anyone tell me what lilac means in the movie? thomas hutter brought a bouquet to ellen hutter in the beginning, nosferatu said ellen's hair lock smells like it and the doctor put it on the bed in the end. is there some symbolism in this flower?

@/the-crooked-library write that lilacs are ellen's favourite flowers and there are even more mansions of them than i remembered writing this. now i see, when thomas gifts a lilacs bouquet to ellen, he does so bc it is customary expression of love, but for ellen it is killing the beautiful flowers, and she doesn't want to put them in water since they will wither soon anyway or are already dead (i don't remember which of these it was). i assume that their views of marriage are similar to their views of the lilac bouquet, her being the flowers, and that remark (as well as the mentioned user's assumption she died from blood loss bc of asking her lover to drink more of her blood) reinforces my assumption that she did want to die with nosferatu more than live as the wife of thomas.

3 hours after i posted this i have encountered a cute lady that required my assistance in my office building!

seen a post about "yule boasting" - a tradition of publicly making "new year's resolutions" of unrealistic nature that will not be accomplished. fast google search did provide some mentions of a boasting tradition as a part of yule celebration but not enough details for me to consider the post accurate. however, i like the idea and if the yule boasting tradition didn't exist in that particular form before, now it does bc i am going to partake - feel free to join!

so, the deeds i will accomplish in 2025:

- draw the boss from metal gear smiling with joy and tenderness, a picture so good that the indomitable will itself will descend onto me and possess me, and a glimmer of it will be visible to anyone who lay eyes on the drawing

- sing 100 songs, quiet and loud, in privacy and in company of other people, friends and strangers

- please 100 ladies in sexual way, or please a lesser amount of ladies 100 times in total

- slay a number of foes in real life and thus prove myself worthy and earn the right to marry the old fashioned way

- feast on 100 meals (vegan)

- observe 100 wild beasts, big and small

- lift 100 stones (mostly small)

- read 10 good books (not 100, not that unrealistic lol)

- love 100 people: strangers, project partners, friends, romantic partners, family and foes

- find a decent and bearable reason to live that doesn't make me frustrated lol

date with paz is the worst possible character for female date mission in pw in terms of having an enjoyable date but a good date partner in terms of the bigger narrative. elaboration below:

the best would be amanda, in my personal opinion. snake is clearly not much invested in courting anyone much, he still hasn't let go of the boss (and never truly will, in a way) and has other msf related stuff to worry about. and so is amanda - she would earn the recognition as comandante by the time of the mission and would be occupied thinking about running her own little army. the fact that they'd be on the same page about being not much interested in dating and much interested in commanding a military force and warfare in general could allow them to have a good time together.

cecile would be morally ambiguous too since she doesn't really have a choice in staying on the mother base. but at least she complemented snake and called him sexy over codec which is as much of female sexual attention as he gets in pw.

strangelove would not be a good date plot wise but even that would be more interesting. she is struggling to understand the boss and feels betrayed by her, same as snake. they could bond over the woman both of them loved deeply to the point of it affecting their entire lives. besides, strangelove did look for a hookup or relationship to get distracted from her "breakup" with the boss and possibly follow the 70s sci-fi trend of being very interested in procreation; for both of which she canonically chose huey. it wouldn't make much sense if she chose snake instead bc i think she picked a person she lowkey despised (as he did himself) on purpose and dating a guy who had a close relationship with the boss and made her jealous wouldn't exactly help to get distracted or try to forget about her. but still, at least she has an important thing in common with snake.

date with paz was unappealing to me to even try until i completed most of the missions and late game boredom of gajillion mech battles and curiosity and wanting to experience the entire game got to me (as well as a false hope that snake would be able to wear the bikini top if i get the swimming trunks too, which was a huge letdown lol but well, it is what it is). same as date with kaz, it's a trophy date for completing a significant part of the game. but depending on when you play it (right after unlocking or after completing more main missions) it has the appeal of either a date with a minor who is confused and in distress (tbh i wouldn't complain at all if it wasn't called a date and there would be other ways to finish it than get into love box with her) or a date with a spy who kind of hates you - which is negative amount of appeal for me personally.

sure, considering paz diaries one could say that she has a tsundere crush on snake, so for the sake of being optimistic let's keep that in mind. but does it affect the gameplay of the date mission? doesn't seem so to me tbh. mb i am just doing it wrong, but i had to make several attempts to get an s rank and it looked like this: "good girl" "good job" "i like you" "peace" "praising you some more" - "thank you snake" "thanks" "peace" "aww snake thx, also i will start following you after some wooing and jump a little in a cute way and tilt my head as you say more compliments about nothing in particular" and then they get into the box and paz says it's awkward. very understandable lol, awkward for me as well! at least i can play some nice music and she likes it.

i had kind of high expectations for this mission bc i have played date with kaz first. everything i could try got a positive response from him and revealed some delightful reactions: many comm lines, cqc, camera, questioning him - and even more - things like zooming in on his private parts or knocking him out and laying on top of him, things that i doubt i would find on my own. it's a shame you can't feed him but most of the things you can do get you positive and diverse responses. while paz dislikes or is neutral towards it seems everything except music and praise (she will, luckily, meow back, but won't like it, same as miller), and trying to cqc her is not only discouraged but results in snake touching her inappropriately which is an unexpected twist but not really a welcome one. i don't dislike paz as a character - quite the opposite, i liked the fight with her and was relieved (for a short while :') ) to see her in mgsv. byt her date is boring to me, i have even googled the ways to s-rank it in case i just do it wrong but it seems it just is what it is.

that being said, i think that date with paz isn't a bad thing in the context of the game in general. it reminds the player that snake and miller are freaks who can't behave around a minor, commits to the bit of "kid named peace" narrative (zadornov even got several play dates of hide and seek) and might be interpreted as illustration of snake having no place in romantic dates with cheerful young ladies and becoming a stranger to a joyous possible side of life that a date with a young cheerful woman might represent, which is well combined with him looking like shit and becoming more grumpy and tired and less silly and prone to tomfoolery compared to mgs3. so maybe while being boring and possibly inappropriate, date with paz mission might be more fitting into the narrative than a potentially more entertaining date with any other major female pw character.

my fav part of the mgs fandom is that we all collectively ignore the fact that boss possibly (and willingly) slept with a 16 year old at the ripe old age of 40

one of the unrealistic expectations in mgs series is that a mullet can stay combed back in a ponytail like that without hanging all over the face instead. it's either some magic or shit ton of hair product or idk a week's worth of mud and blood that's keeping it together.

there is a fan made christmas metal gear game and you should try it!

i was looking for christmas cards from metal gear social and instead found the fan made game merry gear solid: secret santa. it is available for free and only takes ~15 minutes to complete, has cool voice acting, funny codec calls, simple controls (arrows, shift, control and mouse) and few fun mechanics like candy cane instead of cigs, gift box (full of bombs!) and a (non digital) camera that is like stun grenade x claymore x c4. in this game, you are playing as santa claus (code name solid santa) and due to tightened security have to infiltrate the house to deliver presents instead of the traditional way. of course, a plot twist awaits at the end, and an even bigger one in the after credits call!
