Sounds good.
Hi!
I’m witchlightdreams and I’m planning to reread the entirety of The Last hours including online extras and side stories in other companion books of the Shadowhunter and I made a plan so everyone can join me. 💜
The Shadowhunter wiki has a very concise timeline of the stories, but it doesn’t include the online Extras and snippets that aren’t canon. So I put together a longer list that has all extras (excluding a few super short snippets) together. This is probably not for people who read TLH for the first time though, since a few of the short stories and extras contain spoilers.
I already asked people if they would be interested in a book club to reread TLH and I got much positive feedback. I thought long about how to achieve a communal book club so I had the idea of just making a hashtag that hasn’t been used yet to share our thoughts on the current chapter, post art, etc. What do you guys think of #TLH reread challenge?
I’ve made a plan in which order I will read the The Last hours again before the big finale and everyday I will post something about the reading section of the day, life-blog about my thoughts while reading, post art and reblog other stuff from the hashtag, so if you want to keep up-to-date and join the book club, you can either follow this blog or the hashtag or just DM me if you want to join the book club but don’t want to post yourself. I would be very interested to read this communally, so if you want to read at the same time as me, please use the tag or tell me directly. Of course you can also join later or skip the extras at the beginning entirely.
Of course no one has to follow my recommended plan, you should always read in your own time and find joy in reading. I just made this for myself and everyone who wants to read parallel with me. I’m trying to keep every daily section under 50 pages and always between 25-45 pages, but in the beginning it might not be possible, especially with the extra stories, since they don’t have page numbers and because short stories are usually longer than chapters.
If you want resources where to find the extra stories, I made a second post for that and tagged it with our book club tag.
In case you don’t own the companion books or don’t want to read the short stories because they’re too long, that’s not a problem! The Shadowhunter wiki has a good summary of those so you don’t have knowledge gaps!
Happy reading!

FOUND THIS GEM IN MY INSTAGRAM ADS???
Yes. It happened, unfortunately.
I saw this and felt like it should be shared here too
Here's what happened. When a rocket is launched, all the ignited fuel needs to go somewhere. It is usually diverted in tunnels. Elon decided it shall go nowhere. He exploded the rocket and it's launchpad so badly that it left a crater. This occurred on 20th April 2023.
The rocket exploding was normal. It happens to NASA too.
The crater in the launchpad was not normal and a completely preventable failure.
Make fun of him. He didn't make any arrangements for all the ignited fuels energy to go somewhere. But make fun of him the right way. Or else no one will join in on it.
Also please discuss the plight of all the exemplary people who had to follow this doddering fool's command. He funds everything so they have no choice. Let us remember the hard work they put into every other aspect.
“It’s not that big of a deal”
Can we like …STOP rushing to be the first to kiss that man’s ass ? Please ? It’s ok to laugh at his failures , I assure you
His rocket exploded like the piece of crap it was.
I'm learning coding in 10th (we start in 8th in IGCSE board of India) so I've been suffering for three years straight, since I was 13. We have Practical and Theory tests on this. Beat that Pukicho!
I am learning to code and no one told me math would be involved in this shit, I refuse
Caitlyn: The estranged sister is fine af, why wouldn't I break her out?
Caitlyn, later:
It’s kind of funny to think that Caitlyn’s plan was to just interview the tattoo goon from the airship about who he worked for and then a few days later ended up neck deep in the family drama of the single mind behind the Undercity’s organized crime that she was looking for, his mentally ill daughter who HATES her, and her estranged sister who is a prisoner that Caitlyn broke out of jail when she couldn’t interview tattoo goon because said estrange sister broke his jaw.
Leading to Caitlyn breaking the estrange sister out of prison only to learn she is a highly regarded figure in the Undercity due to her and her sister’s adopted father being the former mob boss in charge. However, he was killed by the current mob boss after said prisoner’s sister severely injured their adopted father and killed their two brothers in an attempt to save her family by using the Hextech crystals they stole from Caitlyn’s family’s beneficiary and really her only friend from the current mob boss’s first human-shimmer monster.
And all of THIS essentially boils down to a shouting match between the mob boss and sister fighting over who loves the insane teenage girl more, despite the fact that she has kidnapped all of them and has made it very clear that she is a very dangerous and unstable individual.
Oh, and this family drama will have major consequences for not just the Undercity, but Piltover and a good chunk of the world; because said mentally ill teenage girl is a genius who figured out Hextech and created a shark rocket and has just fired it at the council, because she has once again accidently killed her father and now Caitlyn’s mom is definitely going to die, because Caitlyn didn’t want to shoot the mentally ill teenager because Caitlyn is falling for her sister.
And again, all Caitlyn wanted to do was interview some random thug and prove herself as a detective and now she has untold amounts of trauma to deal with.

Caitlyn: I’m going to interview this prisoner and prove myself as a detective.
K-pop is the best example for me. Look at how many saesangs are there. The idol contracts are so strenuous that they are dubbed as slave contracts. They aren't allowed to date as they and the people they date will be harassed by fans. Imagine thinking you are entitled to a person's private life just because they chose to be a k-pop idol and that they shouldn't date as they belong to you. A lot of idols face this. It's so stupid.
Parasocial relationships aren’t inherently unhealthy. Usually, they’re a perfectly normal and healthy way to experience media. You know what are examples of parasocial relationships?
Kids dressing up in costumes and pretending to be the sidekick of their favorite superhero.
Teens daydreaming about hanging out with members of their favorite band.
Adults reading a funny memoir and finding they now feel positively and care about the wellbeing of the person who wrote it.
Sports fans celebrating because their favorite team won a championship.
Watching a talent show and cheering when your favorite performer wins.
These are enjoyable and typically harmless experiences. Because relationships (parasocial included) are not inherently healthy or unhealthy–it all depends on the parties involved, and the behavior on both sides.
Parasocial relationships become unhealthy when we as audience members over-invest emotionally, fail to set proper boundaries, have unfair/unrealistic expectations or make intrusive demands (for individual attention, for emotional reciprocation, for the other party to serve as a best friend, a lover, a savior, a therapist), or engage in harassment when these expectations are not met. Or, alternatively, when the person/group/corporation on the other end misleads their audience, or uses their influence irresponsibly or exploitatively, or makes promises they cannot follow through on.
Unfortunately, we are seeing a rise in most of these things, in part because the way we consume media has changed very very quickly, and we as a culture have not had enough time to react sanely to these changes and establish healthy behavioral norms around them.
Many of us are struggling with how the illusion of intimacy has hyperevolved—the faces we once saw only on theatre screens and magazines, celebrities who were so removed from us by distance and medium, are now on our phones, in our homes, sharing their private lives with us in previously unimaginable detail. Instead of scripted interviews & crafted photoshoots, we get casual selfies & tweets & constant updates about their clothes & food & activities & private lifestyles. We get videos of celebrities talking to their camera (to us) directly from their own home—as if we are being invited inside. All of this happening on the very same social media platforms and in the same language we use to communicate with friends. Of course our brains are going to get confused, especially if we haven’t been taught how to draw the right boundaries when it comes to watching people in the spotlight.
And most of us haven’t.
Which leads us to what I think is the real problem—not parasocial relationships but Celebrity Culture. This whole culture we’ve been building for decades around inappropriate and invasive interest in the private lives of public figures. Celebrity & paparazzi culture has always encouraged deeply unhealthy patterns of behavior, and it’s been around a lot longer than the internet. But the attitudes it embodies have become the basis for how we treat and think about “famous” people online, and for the shape that parasocial relationships take in the social media age.
The problem isn’t that we’re forming parasocial relationships. Humans will always form parasocial relationships. Jesus christ, religion itself probably fits the definition of a parasocial relationship—what is more parasocial than inventing a god? The problem is that we are forming these relationships without a clear understanding of what constitutes healthy boundaries, reasonable expectations, and appropriate behavior, on all sides. Form as many parasocial relationships as you like, but figure out how to keep them healthy. Manage your expectations, be respectful of privacy, be aware of when you are becoming too involved, know when to step back, and don’t expect it to take the place of interpersonal relationships—your relationships with people who know you exist, and want to reciprocate your time, energy, and interest.

I have cats and I call them dirty, naughty, witch and stinky but as a joke and affectionately. I love cats but I can't comprehend people who actively dream up how to hurt cats. Like I get telling an asshole cat that someone will punt them if they continue to act shitty but I knew someone who was told that this person wished they could kick a cat so hard it gets bruises. Unbelievable.
The difference between dog-people-who-don’t-like-cats and cat-people-who-don’t-like-dogs is just so staggering and, quite honestly, disturbing.
Most cat people who don’t like dogs either don’t like dogs out of fear or because they don’t want the big time commitment and responsibility that owning a dog brings with it (-> going on walks, going to dog training school) and that’s that. I don’t think I’ve ever heard someone do a general character assassination of dogs.
But dog people who don’t like cats will really go on about how cats aren’t… capable of love or some shit? How they don’t want an animal who sets personal boundaries - the most cited thing is always the “and they will just hit you at random” (when that’s not even true; cats hit ‘at random’ either due to trauma/abuse or because they have warned you beforehand to stop whatever behavior they dislike and you didn’t listen).
That’s just so wild to me. Cats have such an awful rep for, what exactly? Having personalities? Setting personal boundaries? Not being fucking stuffed toys?
All I’m hearing when people complain about that is that they want a stuffed toy they can pick up whenever they want and can cuddle however long they want and then put back on the shelf when they don’t want to play with it anymore and I’m sorry but you don’t want a pet at all, you want a stuffed toy.
A dog doesn’t deserve you either?? I may not have personal experience with owning a dog, but I somewhat suspect dogs to have personalities too? To want affection when they want it too, and to want to be left alone when they need downtime too…?
And cats show love. How is it that in the year 2023, when cat videos are not even just on YouTube but also on tiktok and are literally on everyone’s fingertips, that people still have the misconception that cats don’t show love or aren’t capable of love that’s so fucking messed up it’s just so severely fucked up.
