This TTPD megamix is blowing my mind 🤯
FIVE STAGES OF GRIEF ⸺ Playlists curated by Taylor Swift
My brain is braining in the first time in a while... it hurts
this tracklist has me thinking so many thoughts you guys.
they broke up a fortnight into tour... the first show post joever was in florida... who's afraid of little old me being a twist on who's afraid of virginia woolf a film which starred elizabeth taylor and richard burton about a couple whose relationship breaks down at late night drinks in front of people... my boy only breaks his favourite toys - is she the toy??? free from the slammer where the slammer is an obvious reference to jail after all the criminal metaphors of her and joe tricking the system... but daddy i love him being a reference to the little mermaid where she gave up her voice for a man... clara bow being a 1920's film star who found her voice, married a guy who denied they were ever married publicly and then died + the majority of her fame coming from silent films where she literally didn't need to have a voice and then successfully transitioning into 'talkies' (films with sound).... the smallest man who ever lived vs. 'the loudest woman this town has ever seen who had a marvellous time ruining everything'... oh boy.
Said this in some tags but. Taylor gave out ~$200 million in bonuses - aka 10% of the GROSS PROFIT of the whole tour - but it didn’t come from the tour, those bonuses were money out of her bottom line; a number nowhere near the gross profit considering how much a tour like this would’ve cost to put on. And that’s before her charity donations which could nearly double that, or how out-of-industry-standard highly she already pays everyone.
With all of these components considered she genuinely probably gave away like, half her bottom line. That’s a real estimate and it honestly might be more. Everyone bitches about billionaires and how they should distribute their wealth and…. That’s literally what she did here. More than any other artist, like, ever. At this point I feel like the billionaire discourse is as trite and ridiculous as the “exes” discourse. Sorry but I never wanna hear about that nonsense ever again from within this fandom.
no hope for that guy
getting Peter is such a win for Toronto n2 honestly
the way clara bow is written both with the optimism she once had and the hindsight she has now, layering both often at the same time. you'd be picked like a rose both in how in the moment she felt beautiful, chosen as the most beautiful one adored by all, but she knows now that cutting her stem froze her as she was, never allowed to grow further, only slowly fading until she's a dried, dull husk of what she once was, pressed between the pages of someone else book. also the crown is stained but you're the real queen both in how she felt holier than thou once crowned, and the mistakes of the fallen monarchs were markers of their own unworthiness but she is the real queen; she is different because she is pure and true and deserves it. but writing it now, she knows that the crown was stained not just from previous owners, but with blood shed by her own hands, and how it will never be scrubbed clean because of horrors she had to endure to get it that she will never entirely suppress and what she will have have to continue to do to keep it. however my favorite is I'm not trying to exaggerate but I think I might die if it happened to me... Die if I made it.... both in how as a young dreamer she felt so small and it felt so impossible, the shock of knowing she would achieve fame and fortune would nearly kill her. but she knows now the grim truth in what was once hyperbolic, how when it did happen, the breaks didn't come gently and the beast that is beauty tore her to shreds. parts of her at least, and perhaps the most significantly that little dreamer who scribbled that unintended prophecy in her diary decades ago. she made it and slowly and brutally and quietly without fanfare, she died. it harkens back to the lucky one, when she was just embarking on her rocket to fame and fortune, and she pondered another name goes up in lights. You wonder if you'll make it out alive. clara bow seems to answer that question with no, you won't, but nobody before you made it out alive either, not fully, not whole. the machine grinds ever on and on and there was never any other way.
Not to sound rude or anything, but can’t she just make a different blog?
She could, but with the loss of the blog, we lost every single eras tour speech, article, photoshoot, and so much more over the last several years. Jaime's blog has been an archive of Taylor Swift content that is so well organized.
And she also loses a bunch of mutuals including her Taylor Swift follow, which i would be upset about. Starting over on a blog that big and old is just awful
