“Oh”, said brave Prince, “the death bites”.
“How about you, Rich? You ever get married?”
There are just some things that Richie can’t share—things he doesn’t know how to share. But as the memories come back to him in waves of cold and salty nausea, like water in his lungs, and as the group quiets a little in anticipation of the question, he remembers that the way he had always gone about not sharing things was, actually, by sharing them.
So he lets out a deep breath, sets his drink down on the table, and says,
“Of course not,” in a quiet, serious tone. And then adds, much lighter, “you guys know I only ever had eyes for Eddie.”
It’s not a test, he decides, as they snort in amusement and a feeling akin to relief settles in place of the nausea. He’d gotten away with something here, whether he was glad for it or not.
Eddie raises an eyebrow at him.
“All four, huh?” He asks. There’s a pause before they all burst into laughter. Richie tips his beer to Eddie and smiles before bringing the bottle back to his lips and taking a long swig.
Eddie is the first to stop laughing.
the thing about good omens 2 is that i have never felt so loved by a piece of media before.
like, ofmd came fairly close, but neil literally knows us, he lives here with us and says hi in the halls and overhears us talking about what matters to us and trading theories and fantasizing about what we’d like to see. and he wrote this for us.
like, this could not more obviously be written for us. for us weird little queers who care so much about these two idiots.
every minute of this was written and crafted and performed to say we love you back. it wasn’t made to be a hip tv show or to impress or entertain anyone except us, and you can see that everyone involved had a blast in the process, because they love these characters too.
it is just so kind, cliffhanger notwithstanding. this show grabbed me by the shoulders, looked me in the eye, and said i see you and i love you too. and that is so fucking extraordinary.
thank you, neil. thank you so much.
the interesting thing i noticed about Mizu before being betrayed by her husband and mother is that she was a lot softer back then. Like in episode one she's demanding and ready to cut a bitch for information, but back then she was more cordial, asking politely for information from the first few guys she run into who stab her and throw her out. She even puts her sword away after defending herself to show she didn't want trouble.
And onto her time living as a woman she was willing to give up her own path for her mother's security. She really did try to be a good wife too. When she spooked the horse by mistake she looks upset that she'd kinda messed up that chance to get closer to her husband (since he got mad at her like a dick sdfhjsfh), so she tries to make up for it by trying to cook. That doesn't work so she makes up for that by going back out and helping him with the horses a little more and finally striking up a conversation about the horses. And of course we had the moment where Mikio called her a monster, she tried to make up for that by dolling herself up in an attempt to be a pleasing wife again.
She really did try, like a lot, to fit in and be kind and keep people's love. Her going cold after al that makes sense. Like in a way she feels like she's done everything she could to keep people but to no avail so she might as well go down her own path of revenge with no place for love, or friendship or weakness.
Jekyll: “Oh dear, there’s no means of politely eating this and I’d hardly wish to appear an animal, so I’m afraid I’m unable to finish this.”
Hyde, simultaneously: “Humans are animals! Stick your entire face on the plate! Consume!”
“Yeah, I’m pretty good!”
I need to talk about this and how much I love Eddie Kaspbrak more than life itself.
