Hope it helps :)
It was the first day of school, just got my textbooks and the whole class spent the day talking and doing nothing. Classes start tomorrow but I'm starting sooner this year. I'm keeping this as a tracker for progress so... Yeah
Read 1 chapter of Business studies and English
Completed 50% of the assignment in Economics
Revised last year's accountancy notes
Study until you think you are perfect and then study some more because you are never perfect.
Division of subjects:
Every subject is learnt and graded in a different way. You can't use the same study techniques for every subject you have. You have mostly 3 types of subjects:
Memorization based
Practical/Question based
Theory/Essay based
Memorization based:
Mostly Biology, Sciences, Geography etc are fully based on memorization and so you'll use memory study techniques like flash cards and active recall.
Practical/Question based:
Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Accountancy etc are practice subjects. The more you do your questions and understand how a sum is done, the better you can score.
Theory/Essay based:
English, history, business studies etc are theory based. The more you write, the way you write and the keywords you use are the only things that will get you your grades. So learn the formats and the structure on how to write your answers
Note: Some subjects are a combination of the three. Like Economics etc
The reason we divide the subjects is because you can adopt the right study methods for the right subject. Like ex: business studies is mostly based on how you write your answer and the keywords, if you're gonna spend your time memorizing in this, it's a waste of time and energy.
Hope this helps :)
I hate group projects, it's not necessarily the project rather, the people are not cooperative enough so here's some tips I use when I was chosen to do a PPT and a damn play with 13 members.
(Pictures aren't mine!)
Take phone numbers
Even though my teacher discouraged the idea of it, I still took the numbers of all the members and saved it on the same day the project was given even though the deadline was a month later. You should make sure that you have the necessary means of communication to every member.
Plan and outline within 3 days!
Make an outline of what needs to be done, plan out who's going to do what, how they'll do it, when will they complete it etc etc. The reason i do it within 3 days is because you'll get the base of how you'll do it because generally in group projects, by the time everyone completes the work and gives it to you, it would take atleast a week or two, if you start early, you'll complete earlier than everyone else
No group chats!
I personally don't prefer this because one i realised everyone just didn't reply expecting others to reply, especially when your group is big! So... Dms!! Just send the instructions personally, yes, it takes alot of time but it makes up for the energy wasted in group chats that involve unnecessary talks and questions.
Both face to face and text reminders!
When you've assigned work to every member, make sure they actually do it because you'll be the one responsible. Not gonna lie but reminders help especially when the deadlines are closer. Just a message like "Hey, friendly reminder about the XYZ project."
Save your own name!
This is something I'm really careful about. The accusation that you're being biased and assigning easier work to friends and people I'm close with. So, i figured that the best way to avoid it is to write all the work and the names of members in alphabetical order and assign accordingly. If the member can't do it, then I'll discuss and swap. It saves a hell lot of drama and actually results to better outcomes.
Back up
Make sure that there's always a second in command. This was a mistake I did, on the day of the 2nd project (the play), I was in one of the competitions and our teacher had started with our group first... I didn't exactly tell anyone that everything about the characters assigned to members and the narrations were in my bag so they had to scramble alittle but in the end, our group did the best play despite the situation so that's what you're aiming at. Your group needs to manage without you.
Flexibility
Do not, under any circumstances, expect everything to go well! You need to expect hindrances, like gurl, come on. A mistake I made in the PPT project, i made the PPT and told 4-5 people to explain it because that's how it was supposed to be done but in the end, ALL THE 4-5 PEOPLE HAD TO BE IN SPORTS PRACTICE so we ended up changing plans last minute. But nevertheless, we got an A-. Tell everyone to prepare accordingly.
Be a little lenient
Personally, when the teacher asked me to give the list of work everyone had done, i did'nt just write nothing for the members who didn't, i have even the smallest contribution because in the end, even one person's scores matters. It affects the whole damn group so be careful when you take out anger and frustration on the members when giving the list of contributions or even while doing the project. The last thing you need is drama.
Contact!
Make sure your members are comfortable enough to clear any questions or misunderstandings with you. If you don't know what's going in the group, you can't maintain the group. Be very clear that they can reach you any time.
Demo!!!
This is really important! Decide on a day and keep a demonstration of how your project is going to be presented. Do exactly as how you're going to do it infront of the teacher. Exchange some points on how to do better during the demo and discuss! It helps you to correct your mistakes.
Hope this helps! :)
Explore. Clubs. Extra curriculars. Sports. Anything. When you get to freshman year, start exploring. Even if you're a sophomore, junior or senior. Start exploring because you need to be involved in something other than your school. (But don't overdo it!! Max of 2-3 extracurriculars)
Do your homework/assignments as soon as you can.
Get a planner/calender. Update it daily.
Exercise. Dance. Jog. Jump. Do whatever you want but exercise atleast 3 times a week.
Sleep earlier. Before 11 preferably.
Whatever you do, don't back answer a teacher.
Allow yourself to relax but don't overdo it.
Choose your friends carefully. Keep 2 or 3 close friends.
Don't just blabber everything about anything. Think before you speak
Don't involve yourself in any sorts of drama. Clear everything out before it even starts cause it's definitely gonna backfire if you don't
Choose your friends carefully. I mean, very carefully.
Time is investment, use it to your advantage.
For exams, solve past year question papers!!!
Have a doubt in something? Go ask your teacher (it will save you the trouble)
YouTube has a wide variety of videos for you to learn from
Study everyday. Just for an hour. It's more than enough.
Read. Read. Read. Write. Write. Write. Anything.
Honestly, get a study group. (I mean it. Don't study together in the same place. Just send important questions and ask doubts.)
Study things that were thought in previous classes. You will be behind the class but it definitely helps during exams/tests.
Most of all, try to enjoy. You won't get back your highschool years. I realise that now.
I did a similar post a few months ago. The mistakes that I made during my junior year. You can find it here.
Hope this helps! :D
Day 7/ Day 9
Okay, only 1 more day until suffering kinda ends for like 2 months? Anyway, it was a productive day but I still have a ton of stuff to revise.
Completed:
Part IV of 17 lessons out of like 33 (T-T)
Revised MCQs
Need to revise:
Part IV of 16 more lessons
Gonna be a long night
Total hours of study: 6 hours and still counting (Updated: 8 hours)
Today's exam was honestly pretty alright, i couldn't believe that i could attend everything especially because the teacher told us that she'd give no options for MCQ questions and we have to study like fully throughout the book T-T
Now, I'm more scared about tomorrow... even though I've been practicing for more than 2 weeks for accountancy, today, as soon as I came. I slept and I just woke up around 9:30 and panicked because I haven't revised anything. Right now I've completed 1 and a half lessons and I got to complete 2 major topics tomorrow morning.
So yeah... and my hopes and dreams on resting on Sunday alittle and studying just went down the drain. I got to complete a computer project which is like 10% of my final exam grades and submit it by Monday T-T
Today I:
Studied accounts
Tomorrow's To-do list:
Revise accounts in the morning
Complete 5/10 pratical projects in computers
Clean my desk (cause it's just too much of a message right now)
Questions To Figure Out Your Progress (Academically)
What concepts do I understand now that once felt foreign?
Have I become more comfortable with the topic/subject?
Can I explain this particular topic/subject to a 10-year-old who has no idea about it?
What was the hardest thing i faced in this particular topic?
Will I remember it two weeks from now with no revision?
What actions will i take based on these answers?
These always help me monitor my progress. Gives me an idea on where to focus on. By the way, answering this isn't a big deal. Taking action is.

When the teacher asks you if you have any questions and you have the urge to say "The whole syllabus"
I literally love the above quotes xD Some of my favourites are:
• In a world where there is so much to grieve and so little good to take, i grieve nothing, i take everything
• The truth is a painful reminder of why I prefer to live among the lies
• Ignite, my love, ignite
• To the world she is formidable ... To me she is the world
• You should get a dog love, I hear they share much the same qualities
• Books are easily destroyed but words will remain as long as man can remember them.
• I want to be your bestfriend you fall hopelessly in love with
• My heart is yours. Please don't ever give it back to me
I can go on and on but seriously that guy RAISED OUR STANDARDS and i can't find myself to lower them T-T (I'm fangirling xD)
Hii... I just wanted to say...
I'm also a HUGE Aaron Warner/Shatter Me fan !!! So, I'm just curious which is your favourite quote of his?
(hope it's okay to ask about this)
HIII omggg hello fellow Aaron Warner/Shatter Me fan!!! so nice to meet youuu and yesss ofc ofc it's absolutely and most definitely 100% okay to ask because i can go about this topic all day soooo yesss!!!
okay so, i have 4 fav quotes, 3 from Aaron and 1 from Juliette!!
“Do you never get exhausted being so wholly unbearable? You have as much charisma as the rotting innards of unidentified roadkill.” — By Aaron in Ignite Me, when Adam was irritating him and trying to stop Juliette from going with him.
“Such unfortunate language. Only those who cannot express themselves intelligently would resort to such crude substitutions in vocabulary.” — By Aaron in Unravel Me when Adam called him a sick piece of shit.
“hell is empty and all the devils are here” — Aaron's tatto
“Words, I think, are such unpredictable creatures. No gun, no sword, no army or king will ever be more powerful than a sentence. Swords may cut and kill, but words will stab and stay, burying themselves in our bones to become corpses we carry into the future, all the time digging and failing to rip their skeletons from our flesh.” — By Juliette in Ignite Me when Adam is being very rude to her.
what about you!! which is your favourite??
